On Complete Convergence for Arrays of Random Elements and Variables

Abstract

We obtain complete convergence results for arrays of row-wise independent Banach space valued random elements. The main result deals with two cases that usually are considered separately: when no assumptions are made concerning the geometry of the underlying Banach space and when the Banach space is of Rademacher type p.

本文研究了B值行独立的随机元阵列的矩完全收敛性.利用B值行独立的随机元阵列的概率不等式,在随机元阵列随机有界于某非负随机变量的条件下,获得了B值行独立的随机元阵列的矩完全收敛性的一些充分条件,并完善了Chow关于实值独立同分布随机变量列的矩完全收敛性的结果.

Central Subspaces of Banach Spaces

In this paper we study Banach spaces that admit weighted Chebyshev centres for finite sets. Such spaces have been extensively studied recently by Veselý using the approach of finitely intersecting balls. Following his approach we exhibit large classes of Banach spaces that have this property. Certain stability results for spaces of vector valued continuous and Bochner integrable functions are also obtained.     

Chung type strong laws for arrays of random elements and bootstrapping

Let {X_nk } be be an array of rowwise independent random elements in a separable Banach space. Chung type strong laws of large numbers are obtained under various moment conditions on the random elements and geometric type p, 1≤p≤2, conditions on the Banach space. Comparisons with existing results for arrays of random elements are provided to illustrate the strength of these results. The results can be directly applied to show the asymptotic validity of the bootstrap mean and variance for random functions     

A. S. Convergence of two-parameter banach space valued martingales and the radon-nikodym property of banach spaces

In this paper, we prove that under theF ₄ conditions, anyL log⁺ L bounded two-parameter Banach spece valued martingale converges almost surely to an integrable Banach space valued random variable if and only if the Banach space has the Radon-Nikodym property. We further prove that the above conclusion remains true if theF ₄ condition is replaced by the weaker localF ₄ condition. On complete moment convergence of weighted sums for arrays of row-wise negatively associated random variables

Negatively associated (NA) random variables are a more general class of random variables which include a set of independent random variables and have been applied to many practical fields. In this paper, the complete moment convergence of weighted sums for arrays of row-wise NA random variables is investigated. Some sufficient conditions for complete moment convergence of weighted sums for arrays of row-wise NA random variables are established. Moreover, under the weaker conditions, we extend the results of Baek et al. [J. Korean Stat. Soc. 37 (2008), pp. 73–80] and Sung [Abstr. Appl. Anal. 2011 (2011)]. As an application, the complete moment convergence of moving average processes based on an NA random sequence is obtained, which improves the result of Li and Zhang [Stat. Probab. Lett. 70 (2004), pp. 191–197 ].     

On complete convergence and the strong law of large numbers for pairwise independent random variables

The complete convergence for the maximum partial sums of pairwise independent random variables is obtained. The Kolmogorov strong law of large numbers for pairwise i.i.d. random variables is also obtained. Similar results are established for the moving average processes of pairwise i.i.d. random variables and for pairwise independent random elements taking values in a Banach space.     

Limiting behaviour for arrays of row-wise END random variables under conditions of h-integrability

The authors study L^r-convergence, complete convergence and complete moment convergence for arrays of row-wise extended negatively dependent random variables under some appropriate conditions of h-integrability. The results in this paper extend and improve the results of Sung et al. [H.S. Sung, S. Lisawadi, A. Volodin, Weak laws of large numbers for arrays under a condition of uniform integrability, J. Korean Math. Soc. 45 (2008), pp. 289–300].

Spectral analysis of the fourth moment matrix

The fourth moment of a random vector is a matrix whose elements are all moments of order four which can be obtained from the random vector itself. In this paper, we give a lower bound for its dominant eigenvalue and show that its eigenvectors corresponding to positive eigenvalues are vectorized symmetric matrices. Fourth moments of standardized and exchangeable random vectors are examined in more detail.     

Numerical Analysis of the Stochastic Moving Boundary Problem

We extend and generalize some recent results on complete convergence (cf. Hu, Moricz, and Taylor [14], Gut [11], Wang, Bhaskara Rao, and Yang [26], Kuczmaszewska and Szynal [17], and Sung [23]) for arrays of rowwise independent Banach space valued random elements. In the main result, no assumptions are made concerning the existence of expected values or absolute moments of the random elements and no assumptions are made concerning the geometry of the underlying Banach space. Some well-known results from the literature are obtained easily as corollaries. The corresponding convergence rates are also established     

Laws of Large Numbers for Exchangeable Random Sets in Kuratowski-Mosco Sense

Abstract

Most of the results for laws of large numbers based on Banach space valued random sets assume that the sets are independent and identically distributed (IID) and compact, in which Rådström embedding or the refined method for collection of compact and convex subsets of a Banach space plays an important role. In this paper, exchangeability among random sets as a dependency, instead of IID, is assumed in obtaining strong laws of large numbers, since some kind of dependency of random variables may be often required for many statistical analyses. Also, the Hausdorff convergence usually used is replaced by another topology, Kuratowski-Mosco convergence. Thus, we prove strong laws of large numbers for exchangeable random sets in Kuratowski-Mosco convergence, without assuming the sets are compact, which is weaker than Hausdorff sense.

Spetral sets II

Sono studiati l’insiemi spettrali delle elementi di algebra di Banach negli termini della esistenza delle partizioni della unita di algebra. Circolarmente isolati l’insiemi spettrali sono caratterizati et una nuova decomposizione di Mbekhta per operatori lineari limitati e ottenuta. We study spectral sets of elements of a Banach algebra in terms of the existence of idempotent partitions of the unit of the algebra. Circularly isolated spectral sets are characterized, and a new Mbekhta decomposition for bounded linear operators is obtained.     

Strong convergence of weighted sums of random elements through the equivalence of sequences of distributions

The equivalence of sequences of probability measures jointly with the extension of Skorohod's representation theorem due to Blackwell and Dubins is used to obtain strong convergence of weighted sums of random elements in a separable Banach space. Our results include most of the known work on this topic without geometric restrictions on the space. The simple technique developed gives a unified method to extend results on this topic for real random variables to Banach-valued random elements. This technique is also applied to the proof of strong convergence of some statistical functionals.     

On Positive Operators on Some Ordered Banach Spaces

In this paper we study to what extent some classical results concerning operators T, from a -space to a Banach space, or from a Banach space to a L ¹-space, can be precised, when the Banach spaces involved are ordered (by a normal cone in the first case, by a closed generating proper convex cone in the second case) and when the operators T are positive.
