We prove the existence of an open-loop Nash equilibrium of an N-person nonzero sum linear-quadratic differential game with bounded controllers. Due to the method employed, the computational method of [4, Section 5] can be used to approximate the equilibrium costs.  相似文献

For given vectors u,bF n (where F is a field with at least 3 elements), we establish criteria for deciding whether a digraph allows in its pattern class a matrix A which satisfies Au = b. As corollaries to this we give necessary and sufficient conditions for a pattern class to allow a matrix which has an eigenvector with a particular zero/nonzero pattern. Moreover we establish whether or not that eigenvector can correspond to a zero or nonzero eigenvalue. We use these results to establish the analogous results for loopfree digraphs, and thus we obtain results additional to work already done by Maybee, Olesky, and Van Den Driessche in this area. We then use bipartite graphs to generalize our criteria for solutions to Au = b to the rectangular case.  相似文献

We study semiprime superalgebras with superinvolution whose symmetric elements are not zero divisors, and semiprime superalgebras with superinvolution, with nonzero odd part, whose skewsymmetric elements are not zero divisors. We study a zero sum differential game of mixed type where each player uses both control and stopping times. Under certain conditions we show that the value function for this problem exists and is the unique viscosity solution of the corresponding variational inequalities. This paper is concerned with the forced presence or absence of zero components in an eigenvector. Relative to a fixed matrix Awith eigenvalue λ, we characterize the strictly nonzero part of a partly zero eigenvector associated with λ. We also give a sufficient condition for a fixed matrix to have a partly zero eigenvector, and discuss several examples in which a matrix has one or more partly zero eigenvectors. Our main results, however, are qualitative in nature. We associate a zero/nonzero pattern class of matrices with a digraph, and characterize the set of pattern classes which requires all eigenvectors to be strictly nonzero. A sufficient condition is also given that identifies the components of a partly zero eigenvector which may be nonzero.  相似文献

We study the manifold of complex Bloch-Floquet eigenfunctions for the zero level of a two-dimensional nonrelativistic Pauli operator describing the propagation of a charged particle in a periodic magnetic field with zero flux through the elementary cell and a zero electric field. We study this manifold in full detail for a wide class of algebraic-geometric operators. In the nonzero flux case, the Pauli operator ground state was found by Aharonov and Casher for fields rapidly decreasing at infinity and by Dubrovin and Novikov for periodic fields. Algebraic-geometric operators were not previously known for fields with nonzero flux because the complex continuation of “magnetic” Bloch-Floquet eigenfunctions behaves wildly at infinity. We construct several nonsingular algebraic-geometric periodic fields (with zero flux through the elementary cell) corresponding to complex Riemann surfaces of genus zero. For higher genera, we construct periodic operators with interesting magnetic fields and with the Aharonov-Bohm phenomenon. Algebraic-geometric solutions of genus zero also generate soliton-like nonsingular magnetic fields whose flux through a disc of radius R is proportional to R (and diverges slowly as R → ∞). In this case, we find the most interesting ground states in the Hilbert space L 2 (ℝ 2 ).  相似文献

Summary For sums of finite range potential functions of an iid random field we derive the validity of formal expansions of length two. Under standard conditions, formal expansions are valid if and only if the characteristic functions of the sum converge to zero for all nonzero frequency parameters. If this convergence fails, the distribution of the sum can be approximated by a mixture of lattice distributions. The result applies to m-dependent random fields generated by independent random variables.  相似文献

A class of two-person nonzero sum games where the strategy choices are constrained in some form for each player is analyzed here to show the equivalent nonlinear programs which must be solved for the Cournot-Nash equilibrium. This equilibrium solution is shown in appropriate cases to lead to complementary eigenvalue problems, which have applications in normal solutions of stochastic LP models and optimal design problems in linear regression theory.  相似文献

We introduce and study the notion of wd-Rickart modules (i.e. modules M such that for every nonzero endomorphism ? of M, the image of ? contains a nonzero direct summand of M). We show that the class of rings R for which every right R-module is wd-Rickart is exactly that of right semi-artinian right V-rings. We prove that a module M is dual Baer if and only if M is wd-Rickart and M has the strong summand sum property. Several structure results for some classes of wd-Rickart modules and dual Baer modules are provided. Some relevant counterexamples are indicated.  相似文献

We define the concepts of a triangular and a quasitriangular Jordan bialgebras. It is proved that a finite-dimensional Jordan algebra J over an algebraically closed field Φ admits the structure of a quasitriangular Jordan bialgebra with nonzero comultiplication, provided that J is not a direct sum of fields, algebras H(Φ2) and H(Φ3), null extensions of Φ, and of algebras with zero multiplication. Abstract

A ring R is (right) strongly prime (SP) if every nonzero two sided ideal contains a finite set whose right annihilator is zero, SP rings have been studied by Handelman and Lawrence who raised the problem of characterizing SP group algebras. They showed that if R is SP and G is torsion free Abelian, then the group ring RG is SP. The aim of this note is to determine some more group rings which are SP.

For a ring R we also define the strongly prime radical s(R). We then show that s(R)G = s(W) for certain classes of groups.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the problem of finding a common element of the set of zero points of the sum of two operators and the fixed point set of a quasi-nonexpansive mapping. We introduce modified forward-backward splitting methods based on the so-called inertial forward-backward splitting algorithm, Mann algorithm and viscosity method. We establish weak and strong convergence theorems for iterative sequences generated by these methods. Our results extend and improve some related results in the literature.  相似文献

The constant mappings onto the unit form a zero subcategory of any category of monoid homomorphisms; a varietyV of monoids isalmost universal if every category of algebras is isomorphic to a class of all nonzero homomorphisms between members ofV. Almost universal monoid varieties are shown to be exactly those varieties containing all commutative monoids in which the identity xnyn=(xy)n fails for every n>1. Almost universal varieties of monoids can also be characterized categorically as the varieties containing all groups with zero as one-object full subcategories.Presented by B. M. Abstract

We study the long-time behavior of a linear inhomogeneous Boltzmann equation. The collision operator is modeled by a simple relaxation towards the Maxwellian distribution with zero mean and fixed lattice temperature. Particles are moving under the action of an external potential that confines particles, i.e., there exists a unique stationary probability density. Convergence rate towards global equilibrium is explicitly measured based on the entropy dissipation method and apriori time independent estimates on the solutions. We are able to prove that this convergence is faster than any algebraic time function, but we cannot achieve exponential convergence.  相似文献

In this article, we study the evolution, monotonicity for the first eigenvalue of the clamped plate on closed Riemannian manifold along the Ricci flow. We prove that the first nonzero eigenvalue is nondecreasing under the Ricci flow under certain geometric conditions and find some applications in 2-dimensional manifolds.  相似文献
