This study presents a new process using inductively a coupled plasma dry etching method to manufacture a long-period fiber grating filter with exact period, vertical sidewalls, and smooth etched surfaces, and the filter is thus named a perfectly notched long-period fiber grating (NLPFG). This process can dramatically reduce production time, and thereby provide higher volume production. The fabricated NLPFG has periods of 640 μm, resonant-attenuation wavelengths of 1518 nm, and maximum resonance-attenuation of 21.79 dB. A force induced loss-tunable calibration of the NLPFG filter was implemented, and a monotonically increasing quadratic fitting was observed. The results demonstrated that the proposed NLPFG has a much better period precision compared to corrugated LPFG, and it has great potential for a loss-tunable filter and force transducer applications.  相似文献

We introduce photoreprogrammable dual-function gratings, which show different diffraction in transmission and reflection. Parallel metal lines on the photochromic diarylethene (DAE) surface were prepared by selective metal deposition, enabling one-dimensional diffraction in transmission and reflection. Then, another isomerization pattern was programmed on the DAE layer by light irradiation. This grating generated unique diffraction: one-dimensional diffraction in the reflection but two-dimensional diffraction in the transmission, and a dual-function grating was achieved. This programmed state on the DAE layer could be erased by UV irradiation and could be reprogrammed to generate different diffraction by visible laser scanning. This result shows the great potential of the photoreprogrammable dual-function grating as a key element in various future optical devices and systems.  相似文献

基于魏格纳变换和魏格纳分布函数,分析讨论一维物体在空域-频域空间的自成像及其形成过程。从成像过程中各衍射频谱分量的光程差出发,给出Talbot效应和Montgomery效应的统一解释。对于周期物的Talbot效应,得到了用杨氏双缝干涉解释自成像现象的理论依据。周期物的自成像是物平面上间距为2倍周期,光程差为波长的整数平方倍的各衍射频谱分量同相相干迭加的结果。Montgomery效应是物平面上间距为抛物线关系,光程差为波长整数倍的各衍射频谱分量同相相干迭加的结果。  相似文献

Dual-functional diffraction gratings, which show different diffractions in transmission and reflection, are proposed as an essential optical element. We utilize a flattening effect of photochromic diarylethene (DAE) in the low glass transition temperature state and selective metal deposition to prepare the gratings. The uncolored lines of the colored DAE layer on a grating substrate with grooves were formed by red-laser scanning, and Mg evaporation onto the substrate without a shadow mask enabled Mg-line formation at right angles to the grooves. After being stored at 27 °C for 500 min, the sample showed two-dimensional diffraction in reflection but one-dimensional diffraction in transmission, meaning that a dual-functional grating was achieved. This result shows great potential as a key element for various future optical devices and systems.  相似文献

A novel fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensing system based on a spectrum-limited Fourier domain mode-locking (SL-FDML) fiber laser is proposed. Multiple FBGs cascaded in a long fiber are utilized as both the sensors in the system and the wavelength-selected components in the SL-FDML fiber laser. Both wavelength-division multiplexing and spatial-division multiplexing techniques are demonstrated for interrogation of multiple FBGs by mapping the wavelength measurement to the time measurement and by adjusting the driving frequency of the SL-FDML fiber laser. The proposed FBG sensing system, employing techniques of the wavelength- and spatial-domain interrogation of multiple FBGs, can be used in remote and quasi-distributed multipoint sensing.  相似文献

An array illuminator is a device/optical system that splits an incoming beam of light into an array of many light spots/beams. It is useful in logic systems and in optical digital computing or in switching systems to energize arrays of components such as logic gates, optically bistable devices and electro-optic modulators. Array illuminators working in white light are interesting because they do not suffer from coherent noise and yield better signal-to-noise ratio. We propose configurations for array illuminator based on Fresnel diffraction and working under white light illumination conditions. Performance evaluation of the illuminators is also undertaken and the results of investigation are reported.  相似文献

A novel quasi-distributed fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor system based on Fourier domain mode locking (FDML) fiber laser is proposed and demonstrated. The low reflectivity FBGs with the same Bragg wavelength are connected cascaded in a long fiber working as the sensing elements of the sensor system as well as the wavelength and cavity length selecting elements of the FDML laser. By adjusting the driving frequency of the FDML fiber laser, lasing with different selected cavity lengths will be achieved correspondingly. When the wavelength of the working FBG shifts which includes the sensing information, FBG interrogation can be realized both in wavelength and time domain.  相似文献

We propose a novel broadband polarizing beam splitter with a compact sandwich structure that has a subwavelength grating in the quasi-static domain as the filling. The design is based on effective-medium theory an anisotropic thin-film theory, and the performance is investigated with rigorous coupled-wave theory. The design results show that the structure can provide a high polarization extinction ratio in a broad spectral range.  相似文献

We proposed and experimentally demonstrated wavelength division (de)multiplexers (WDMs) utilizing the wavelength dispersive nature of self-imaging multimode interferometers. Proof-of-principle devices fabricated on the silicon-on-insulator platform operated as 4-channel WDMs with a free spectral range of >90 nm, an averaging cross talk of <-20 dB for a 1 nm band, and an insertion loss of <2.0 dB. The potential for higher channel counts and smaller channel wavelength spacing was also predicted. This type of WDM is easy to design and fabricate. The underlying concept is applicable to all planar waveguide platforms.  相似文献

The dynamics of the domain structure in ferroelectrics of order-disorder type like triglycinesulfate is studied. The polarization properties of ferroelectrics with relaxation-type absorption are described in terms of the pseudospin formalism. A kinetic equation describing the polarization dynamics of ferroelectrics is derived using the Hamiltonian of the problem. The domain structure dynamics is obtained for different problem parameters and initial conditions. Analytical results are compared with experimental data.  相似文献

An up-converter in which a capacitor with a nonlinear dielectric film is used as a nonlinear element is analyzed. Relationships between the conversion gain and capacitor parameters, such as loss tangent and the parameters of the C-V characteristic, which are of importance in converter design, are given. An up-converter using BaxSr1−x TiO3 capacitors is designed and tested. Experimental characteristics of this up-converter raising the frequency from 0.8 to 4.4 GHz are reported.  相似文献

The photorefractive effect is demonstrated for the first time for the composite consisting of a ferroelectric material (polyvinylidenefluoride-trifluoroethylene) and single-walled carbon nanotubes that serve as nonlinear optical chromophores and, simultaneously, spectral sensitizers for the laser radiation with a wavelength of 1064 nm. It is demonstrated that the internal field in the ferroelectric material makes it possible to measure the photorefractive effect in the absence of the external field.  相似文献

The existence of a shear homogeneous plane wave trapped by a strip domain moving uniformly in a tetragonal ferroelectric crystal is demonstrated. Using the nonrelativistic quasistatic approximation and a change to the moving frame of reference, the solution is obtained and the dispersion relation is derived for the spatial spectrum of the trapped wave. The uniqueness of the solution is established in the case of the multiple degeneracy of the roots of the characteristic equation when the trapped wave contains an attached wave in the strip domain. The trapped wave is shown to correspond to the antisymmetric mode of the electroacoustic wave of the strip domain at the initial point of the spectrum branch. The specific features of the spatial resonance of the trapped wave with a shear wave obliquely incident on the strip domain are considered.  相似文献

We present a new technique for light scanning by use of viscoelastic-based deformable phase diffraction gratings. Mechanical stretching of the grating permits control of its spatial period, and thus the orders of diffraction can be spatially deflected. In the experiments the viscoelastic gratings with triangular and rectangular profiles have been characterized at lambda = 633 nm. It is demonstrated that the reversible elongation can exceed 20% of the initial length. For the triangular profile grating, the diffraction angle of the first order changed from 6.6 degrees to 5.4 degrees while the diffraction efficiency remained almost constant at approximately 17%. Dynamic scanning of a laser beam at frequencies of approximately 1 kHz is demonstrated by use of electromechanically driven viscoelastic gratings.  相似文献

A color filter incorporating a submicrometer cascaded grating was proposed. The device was analyzed by the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) and consisted of three parts: a substrate, a ZnS grating and an Al grating. Three different devices with the full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of ∼100 nm and the peak transmission of more than 70% are designed based on the transmission characteristics under different structural parameters. Compared to the previous color filters incorporating a grating, the numerical results show that the transmission efficiency increases of more than 13% and the overlap of the tricolor output spectra decreases effectively.  相似文献
