The linewidth of then component van der Pol Oxcillator is calculated in random phase approximation. Forn=2 this model describes a single mode laser. This approximation is asymptotically correct for weak and strong pumping and also in the largen limit for all pumping. The result is in good agreement with numerical results forn=2 in the whole range including the threshold. The corresponding vertex renormalized approximation on the other hand yields poor agreement and the wrong asymptotic value in the limit of strong pumping. The reason for this failure is discussed.  相似文献

We consider the response to uncorrelated noise and harmonic excitation of a birhythmic van der Pol-type oscillator. This system, as opposed to the standard van der Pol oscillator, is characterized by two stable orbits. The noisy oscillator can be analytically mapped, with the technique of stochastic averaging, onto an ordinary bistable system with a bistable (quasi)potential. The birhythmic oscillator can also be numerically characterized through the diagnostics of coherent resonance and the signal-to-noise-ratio. The analysis shows the presence of noise-induced coherent states, influenced by the different time scales of the oscillator.  相似文献

A crisis in a Duffing--van del Pol system with fuzzy uncertainties is studied by means of the fuzzy generalised cell mapping (FGCM) method. A crisis happens when two fuzzy attractors collide simultaneously with a fuzzy saddle on the basin boundary as the intensity of fuzzy noise reaches a critical point. The two fuzzy attractors merge discontinuously to form one large fuzzy attractor after a crisis. A fuzzy attractor is characterized by its global topology and membership function. A fuzzy saddle with a complicated pattern of several disjoint segments is observed in phase space. It leads to a discontinuous merging crisis of fuzzy attractors. We illustrate this crisis event by considering a fixed point under additive and multiplicative fuzzy noise. Such a crisis is fuzzy noise-induced effects which cannot be seen in deterministic systems.  相似文献

以含分数阶微分项的van der Pol振子为对象,研究其超谐共振时的动力学特性.首先,通过平均法得到了系统的一阶近似解,提出了超谐共振时等效线性阻尼和等效线性刚度的概念,研究了分数阶微分项的系数和阶次以等效线性阻尼和等效线性刚度的形式对系统动力学特性的影响.随后,建立了超谐共振时定常解的幅频曲线的解析表达式,得到了超谐共振周期响应的稳定性判断准则并提出等效非线性阻尼和非线性稳定性条件参数的概念.最后,通过数值仿真比较了分数阶与整数阶系统的幅频曲线,分析了分数阶微分项的系数和阶次对响应幅值、幅频曲线以及系统稳定性的影响.  相似文献

Noise effects on the phase lockings and bifurcations in the sinusoidally forced van der Pol relaxation oscillator are investigated. Deterministic (noise-free) one-dimensional Poincaré mapping is extended to the iteration of the operator defined by a stochastic kernel function. Stochastic phase lockings and bifurcations are analyzed in terms of the density evolution by the operator. In particular, a new method which uses spectra (eigenvalues and eigenfunctions) of the operator to analyze stochastic bifurcations intensively is proposed.  相似文献

A manifestly relativistically covariant form of the van der Pol oscillator in 1 + 1 dimensions is studied. We show that the driven relativistic equations, for which x and t are coupled, relax very quickly to a pair of identical decoupled equations, due to a rapid vanishing of the “angular momentum” (the boost in 1 + 1 dimensions). A similar effect occurs in the damped driven covariant Duffing oscillator previously treated. This effect is an example of entrainment, or synchronization (phase locking), of coupled chaotic systems. The Lyapunov exponents are calculated using the very efficient method of Habib and Ryne. We show a Poincaré map that demonstrates this effect and maintains remarkable stability in spite of the inevitable accumulation of computer error in the chaotic region. For our choice of parameters, the positive Lyapunov exponent is about 0.242 almost independently of the integration method.  相似文献

This paper applies washout filter technology to amplitude control of limit cycles emerging from Hopf bifurcation of the van der Pol--Duffing system. The controlling parameters for the appearance of Hopf bifurcation are given by the Routh--Hurwitz criteria. Noticeably, numerical simulation indicates that the controllers control the amplitude of limit cycles not only of the weakly nonlinear van der Pol--Duffing system but also of the strongly nonlinear van der Pol--Duffing system. In particular, the emergence of Hopf bifurcation can be controlled by a suitable choice of controlling parameters. Gain-amplitude curves of controlled systems are also drawn.  相似文献

The dynamical behavior of the extended Duffing-Van der Pol oscillator is investigated numerically in detail. With the aid of some numerical simulation tools such as bifurcation diagrams and Poinearé maps, the different routes to chaos and various shapes of strange attractors are observed. To characterize chaotic behavior of this oscillator system, the spectrum of Lyapunov exponent and Lyapunov dimension are also employed.  相似文献

When seeking a solution in series form, the number of terms needed to satisfy some preset requirements is unknown in the beginning. An iterative formulation is proposed so that when an approximation is available, the number of effective terms can be doubled in one iteration by solving a set of linear equations. This is a new extension of the Newton iteration in solving nonlinear algebraic equations to solving nonlinear differential equations by series. When Fourier series is employed, the method is called the residue harmonic balance. In this paper, the fractional order van der Pol oscillator with fractional restoring and damping forces is considered. The residue harmonic balance method is used for generating the higher-order approximations to the angular frequency and the period solutions of above mentioned fractional oscillator. The highly accurate solutions to angular frequency and limit cycle of the fractional order van der Pol equations are obtained analytically. The results that are obtained reveal that the proposed method is very effective for obtaining asymptotic solutions of autonomous nonlinear oscillation systems containing fractional derivatives. The influence of the fractional order on the geometry of the limit cycle is investigated for the first time.  相似文献

A non-local control force is introduced in such a way to obtain a third-order nonlinear differential equation (jerk dynamics) and to control nonlinear vibrations in an externally excited van der Pol oscillator. Two first-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations governing the modulation of the amplitude and the phase of solutions are derived and subsequently the performance of the control strategy is investigated. Excitation amplitude–response and frequency–response curves are shown. In certain cases when the excitation amplitude is very low an approximate analytic solution corresponding to a modulated two-period quasi-periodic motion can be obtained for the uncontrolled system. Uncontrolled and controlled systems are compared and the appropriate choices for the feedback gains are found in order to reduce the amplitude peak of the response and to exclude the possibility of quasi-periodic motion. Numerical simulation confirms the validity of the new method.  相似文献

The particular properties of dynamics are discussed for dissipatively coupled van der Pol oscillators, non-identical in values of parameters controlling the Hopf bifurcation. Possibility of a special synchronization regime in an infinitively long band between oscillator death and quasiperiodic areas is shown for such system. Features of the bifurcation picture are discussed for different values of the control parameters and for the case of additional Duffing-type nonlinearity. 设计反馈控制器,对一类耦合的van der Pol振子的极限环幅值进行控制. 用近似解析方法求出了控制系统的幅值的控制方程, 得到了控制参数与极限环幅值的函数关系, 使系统的振幅能按需求得到有效地调整. 通过数值计算绘制了在不同控制参数下, 系统响应的时间历程曲线和极限环. 近似解析方法计算得到的结果与数值计算进行了比较,两者是符合的. 这一方法也可以推广应用到其他耦合的van der Pol振子.  相似文献

Phase synchronization in a system of three virtual-cathode microwave oscillators (vircators) simulated by coupled van der Pol oscillators is studied.
