Present status of the experiment TGV II is given. The experiment TGV II is devoted to the measurement of double-beta decay of 106Cd and 48Ca. The new HPGe multi-detector TGV spectrometer has been constructed and installed in the Modane underground laboratory (in France). Detection of the neutrinoless double-beta decay is essential in probing physics beyond the standard model of electroweak and
strong interactions. At the moment there is a considerable uncertainty associated with the calculation of the involved nuclear
matrix elements. This uncertainty can be diminished by suitably chosen nuclear probes, like beta decays and nuclear muon capture.
The related experiments are urgently called for.

The theory of octupolar-excitation ion-cyclotron-resonance mass spectrometry is presented which predicts an increase of up to several orders of magnitude in resolving power under certain conditions. The new method has been applied for a direct Penning-trap mass-ratio determination of the (164)Er-(164)Dy mass doublet. (164)Er is a candidate for the search for neutrinoless double-electron capture. However, the measured Q(??) value of 25.07(12) keV results in a half-life of 10(30) years for a 1 eV Majorana-neutrino mass. 相似文献

We present the preliminary results of the cosmic abundances below the knee energies (CAKE) experiment for the study of the primary cosmic-ray composition and for the search of exotic particles in the primary cosmic radiation. CAKE uses CR39® and Lexan nuclear track detectors, which were calibrated with beams of 158 AGeV Pb ions and 1 AGeV Fe ions at the CERN and BNL accelerators, respectively. Effects of an ultra-strong magnetic field on electron capture rates for 55Co are analyzed in the nuclear shell model and under the Landau energy levels quantized approximation in the ultra-strong magnetic field, and the electron capture rates on 10 abundant iron group nuclei at the surface of a magnetar are given. The results show that electron capture rates on 55Co are increased greatly in the ultra-strong magnetic field, by about 3 orders of magnitude generally. These conclusions play an important role in future study of the evolution of magnetars. 相似文献

An investigation of double beta decay (β+β+, β+/EC, EC/EC) of 106Cd was performed at the Modane underground laboratory (at a water equivalent depth of 4800 m) using a TGV-2 spectrometer with 32 detectors. Evaluation of the experimental data accumulated over 12 400 h of measuring ~13.6 g of 106Cd with an enrichment of 75% was performed. New limits (at a confidence level of 90%) on the half-lives of the 0νEC/EC resonant decay of 106Cd to the 2741 keV excited state of 106Pd ? T 1/2 ≥ 1.5 × 1020 y and on 2νEC/EC decay to the ground state of 106Pd (0+ → 0+, g.s.) ? T 1/2 ≥ 3.9 × 1020 y were obtained. The limits of the 2νEC/EC decay of 106Cd to the 2+, 512 keV and 0 1 + , 1334 keV excited states of 106Pd and 2νβ+β+- and the 2νβ+ EC decays of 106Cd to the ground and excited states of 106Pd were improved. 相似文献

We present a measurement of the W-boson mass using 200 pb{-1} of data collected in pp[over ] collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV by the CDF II detector at run II of the Fermilab Tevatron. With a sample of 63 964 W-->enu candidates and 51 128 W-->munu candidates, we measure M_{W}=80 413+/-34{stat}+/-34{syst}=80,413+/-48 MeV/c;{2}. This is the most precise single measurement of the W-boson mass to date. 相似文献

A high-precision measurement of the 14O half-life has been performed using a mass-separated radioactive beam in combination with a germanium detector set-up. This
is the first 14O half-life measurement with a contamination-free source. The final result of 70.560 ± 0.049 seconds is in agreement with
the generally adopted mean value.
