Über neue Siliciumschichtverbindungen aus Calciumdisilicid

Summary (SiCl)_n is a high polymeric compounds with a layered structure, yielded from the layer lattice CaSi₂ with ICl. New compounds were formed on the surface of these layers by action of polyvalent alcohols like ethanediol, 1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol and glycerine. BET and IR measurements and the analysis show that all OH groups of the alcohols react with the Si-Cl linkage on one layer, forming a handle structure. (SiCl)_n also reacts with trimethylaluminum, forming a polymeric methylsilicon Si(CH₃) _n .

Diterpenoide Drüsenfarbstoffe aus Labiaten: 6 neue p-Chinomethane aus Plectranthus parviflorus WILLD

Leaf-gland Pigments: 6-Novel p-Quinomethanes of the Abietane Series from Plectranthus parviflorus WILLD The above mentioned plant accumulates in its red coloured leaf-glands a complex mixture of strongly dehydrogenated abietanols. They were separated (with difficulties) to yield 6 novel compounds. Spectroscopic and chiroptic data show them to be esters of either 11, 19-dihydroxy- or 2 α, 11-dihydroxy-abieta-5, 7, 9 (11), 13-tetraen-12-one 2a and 3a , respectively. Specifically, the 19-O-p-hydroxybenzoate ( 2d ) parvifloron C, the 19-O-vanilloate ( 2c ) parvifloron B, the 19-O-p-hydroxy-benzoate ( 2d ) parvifloron C, the 19-O-3′,4′-dihydroxybenzoate ( 2e ) parvifloron E, the 2 α-O-p-hydroxybenzoate ( 3b ) parvifloron D, and the 2 α-O-3′,4′-dihydroxy-benzoate ( 3c ) parvifloron F. Reduction by LiAlH₄ splits the ester function and reduces the p-quinomethane to a colourless pyrocatechol derivative which, by air oxidation, regenerates the red p-quinomethane system of 2a and 3a .     

Diterpenoide Drüsenfarbstoffe aus Labiaten: 22 neue Coleone und Royleanone aus Plectranthus lanuginosus

Leaf-gland Pigments from Labiatae: 22 Novel Diterpenoids (Coleons and Royleanones) from Plectranthus lanuginosus We report the isolation and structure elucidation of 22 novel diterpenoids (named lanugones A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, K′, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S and (155)-coleon C ( 28 ) and (155)-coleon D ( 29 )) from the leaf-glands of the above-mentioned plant (see Table 1). Structurally they belong to the subgroups of royleanones and coleons with the following structural characteristics: 8-hydroxy-1-methyl-spi-ro[2,5]oct-5-ene-4,7-diones, p-quinomethanes, extended (vinylogous) quinones, di-osphenols and diketones. Compounds 28 and 29 are (15S)-epimers of the already known coleon C and coleon D (with (15 R)-configuration), respectively. Furthermore, the already known 6,7-didehydroroyleanone ( 1 ) has been isolated in small amount. The present investigation has uncovered the broadest range of diverse chromo-phoric systems and oxydation levels so far found amongst diterpenoids in a single plant species. Most important for an understanding of the metabolic fate of an iso-propyl group is the full range found with the following metabolic stages: isopropyl-→ hydroxyisopropyl → dihydrofuran and spirocyclopropane → allyl- and 2-hydroxypropyl groups.     

Monosulfoniumsalze und neue stabile Ylid-Salze aus 2-substituierten 1,3-dithianen

Trialkyloxonium-tetrafluoroborate reacts with 2-substituted 1,3-dithianes to yield sterically uniform monosulfonium salts. Bis-sulfonium salts obtained likewise lead after deprotonation to new stable ylid salts.     

Bildung von Diazidomalonester aus Monobrommalonester mit Natriumazid,eine neue Disproportionierungsreaktion

Zusammenfassung Monobrommalonester reagiert mit NaN₃ unter Gasentwicklung (wahrscheinlich N₂). Neben dieser vermutlich als Oxydation zu wertenden Reaktion läuft als Hauptreaktion eine Substitutionsreaktion, die aber nicht zu Monoazido-, sondern zu Diazidomalonester und Malonester führt. Somit liegt eine Disproportionierungsreaktion vor. Die Ergebnisse werden anderen Befunden am Monobrommalonester gegenübergestellt und auf die Problematik bei Annahme eines heterolytischen reaktionsmechanismus hingewiesen.Auszugsweise vorgetragen beim Chemikertreffen in Innsbruck am 31. III. 1953.

Eine neue Elektrode aus elektrisch leitendem Kunststoff zur spektrochemischen Analyse von Nichtleitern

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Elektrode zur Spektralanalyse von Nichtleitern entwickelt, die dadurch hergestellt wird, daß die pulvrige Probe mit leitendem Kunststoff zusammengemischt und das Gemisch in eine Form eingefüllt und beim Erwärmen durch chemische Reaktion des Kunststoffes gehärtet und geformt wird. Eine Presse erübrigt sich dabei. Die Eigenschaften des elektrisch leitenden Kunststoffes und die Herstellung der Elektrode werden beschrieben. Sie bewährte sich bei der Analyse von Eu, Sm und Gd im ppm-Bereich als Bestandteil von Silicaten und bei der Bestimmung von Halogenen und Schwefel. Die Spektrenanregung erfolgte im Feußner-Funken.

Summary An electrode for the spectral analysis of non-conductors is described. It is prepared by mixing the powdered sample with conducting plastic, filling the mixture into a mould and heating it, whereby the resin is hardened. Use of a press is not required. Properties of the conducting plastics and preparation of the electrode are described. The electrode was successfully applied to the determination of Eu, Sm and Gd in the ppm-range in silicates and to the determination of halogens and sulphur. A Feussner spark was employed for excitation.
