In this paper, we present an efficient numerical algorithm for solving two-point linear and nonlinear boundary value problems, which is based on the Adomian decomposition method (ADM), namely, the extended ADM (EADM). The proposed method is examined by comparing the results with other methods. Numerical results show that the proposed method is much more efficient and accurate than other methods with less computational work.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a domain decomposition method, based on the general theory of Steklov-Poincaré operators, for a class of linear exterior boundary value problems arising in potential theory and heat conductivity. We first use a Dirichlet-to-Neumann mapping, derived from boundary integral equation methods, to transform the exterior problem into an equivalent mixed boundary value problem on a bounded domain. This domain is decomposed into a finite number of annular subregions, and the Dirichlet data on the interfaces is introduced as the unknown of the associated Steklov-Poincaré problem. This problem is solved with the Richardson method by introducing a Dirichlet-Robin-type preconditioner, which yields an iteration-by-subdomains algorithm well suited for parallel computations. The corresponding analysis for the finite element approximations and some numerical experiments are also provided.  相似文献

We study certain boundary value problems for the one-dimensional wave equation posed in a time-dependent domain. The approach we propose is based on a general transform method for solving boundary value problems for integrable nonlinear PDE in two variables, that has been applied extensively to the study of linear parabolic and elliptic equations. Here we analyse the wave equation as a simple illustrative example to discuss the particular features of this method in the context of linear hyperbolic PDEs, which have not been studied before in this framework.  相似文献

The effect of the linear operator L, used in the Adomian's method for solving nonlinear partial differential equations, on the convergence is studied on the Fisher's equation, which describes a balance between linear diffusion and nonlinear reaction. The results show that the convergence of this method is not influenced by the choice of the operator L in the equation to be solved. Furthermore, under some conditions, these results are close to those obtained by using other numerical techniques.  相似文献

We consider initial value/boundary value problems for fractional diffusion-wave equation: , where 0<α?2, where L is a symmetric uniformly elliptic operator with t-independent smooth coefficients. First we establish the unique existence of the weak solution and the asymptotic behavior as the time t goes to ∞ and the proofs are based on the eigenfunction expansions. Second for α∈(0,1), we apply the eigenfunction expansions and prove (i) stability in the backward problem in time, (ii) the uniqueness in determining an initial value and (iii) the uniqueness of solution by the decay rate as t→∞, (iv) stability in an inverse source problem of determining t-dependent factor in the source by observation at one point over (0,T).  相似文献

In this paper we study initial value boundary problems of two types of nonlinear dispersive wave equations on the half-line and on a finite interval subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. We first prove local well-posedness of the rod equation and of the b-equation for general initial data. Furthermore, we are able to specify conditions on the initial data which on the one hand guarantee global existence and on the other hand produce solutions with a finite life span. In the case of finite time singularities we are able to describe the precise blow-up scenario of breaking waves. Our approach is based on sharp extension results for functions on the half-line or on a finite interval and several symmetry preserving properties of the equations under discussion.  相似文献

We provide an overview of matrix decomposition algorithms (MDAs) for the solution of systems of linear equations arising when various discretization techniques are applied in the numerical solution of certain separable elliptic boundary value problems in the unit square. An MDA is a direct method which reduces the algebraic problem to one of solving a set of independent one-dimensional problems which are generally banded, block tridiagonal, or almost block diagonal. Often, fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) can be employed in an MDA with a resulting computational cost of O(N 2 logN) on an N × N uniform partition of the unit square. To formulate MDAs, we require knowledge of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices arising in corresponding two–point boundary value problems in one space dimension. In many important cases, these eigensystems are known explicitly, while in others, they must be computed. The first MDAs were formulated almost fifty years ago, for finite difference methods. Herein, we discuss more recent developments in the formulation and application of MDAs in spline collocation, finite element Galerkin and spectral methods, and the method of fundamental solutions. For ease of exposition, we focus primarily on the Dirichlet problem for Poisson’s equation in the unit square, sketch extensions to other boundary conditions and to more involved elliptic problems, including the biharmonic Dirichlet problem, and report extensions to three dimensional problems in a cube. MDAs have also been used extensively as preconditioners in iterative methods for solving linear systems arising from discretizations of non-separable boundary value problems.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for generalized logarithmic improved Boussinesq equation. By using the Galerkin method, logarithmic Sobolev inequality, logarithmic Gronwall inequality, and compactness theorem, we show the existence of global weak solution to the problem. By potential well theory, we show the norm of the solution will grow up as an exponential function as time goes to infinity under some suitable conditions. Furthermore, for the generalized logarithmic improved Boussinesq equation with damped term, we obtain the decay estimate of the energy. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A problem with inhomogeneous boundary and initial conditions is studied for an inhomogeneous equation of mixed parabolic-hyperbolic type in a rectangular domain. The solution is constructed as the sum of an orthogonal series. A criterion for the uniqueness of the solution is established. It is shown that the uniqueness of the solution and the convergence of the series depend on the ratio of the sides of the rectangle from the hyperbolic part of the mixed domain. On the basis of this problem, inverse problems for finding the factors of the time-dependent right-hand sides of the original equation of mixed type are stated and studied for the first time. The corresponding uniqueness theorems and the existence of solutions are proved using the theory of integral equations for inverse problems.  相似文献

An estimate of the velocity field is obtained for the equation of motion of incompressible media. With the help of this estimate, the integro-differential equations that describe the motion of linear viscoelastic fluids in the two-dimensional case are studied. The existence is proved for a weak, global in time, solution of the Cauchy problem and of the initial boundary value problem with periodic boundary conditions.
