ForX a locally compact Stonian Space, letC (X) denote the universally complete Riesz space of all extended-real-valued continuous functionsf onX for which {x∈X| |f (x)|=∞} is nowhere dense. In this paper the dual spaces ofC (X) (i.e. the spaces of order bounded; of σ-order continuous; of order continuous linear forms onC (X), and the extended order dual ofC (X) denote here byC (X)ρ (introduced by W.A.J. Luxemburg and J.J. Masterson)) are characterized. It is shown thatC (X)ρ can be identified in a canonical way with the inductive limitM q (X) of the Riesz spaces of all normal Radon measures defined on the dense open subsets ofX. More generally, ifY is a locally compact space thenM q (Y) is the extended order dual of the inductive limit of the Riesz spaces of all real-valued continuous functions defined on the dense open subsets ofY. IfX is locally compact and hyperstonian, then it is proved thatC (X) andC (X)ρ are isomorphic, and a criterion forC (X)ρ to be the universal completion of the space of order continuous linear forms onC (X) is given.  相似文献

Recently, B. Mitiagin and N. Zobin constructed an example of nuclear Fréchet space without basis. The essential modification of their constructions gives the following results. There exists such a nuclear Fréchet space X that for any nuclear Fréchet space Y the space X × Y has no basis (Sections 1 and 2). This fact has a lot of corollaries (Sect. 3); e.g., the space X × C(R1) having the maximal diametral dimension among nuclear Fréchet spaces nevertheless has no basis. One can also construct (Sect. 4) a nuclear Fréchet space X? without strongly finite-dimensional decomposition (see Definition 0.1). In Section 5 some comments and open questions are given.  相似文献

Let X be the Grassmannian of Lagrangian subspaces of R2n and π: ΘX the bundle of negative half-forms. We construct a canonical imbedding S(Rn)evenC(Θ) which intertwines the metaplectic representation of Mp(n) on S(Rn) with the induced representation of Mp(n) on C(Θ). This imbedding converts the algebra of Weyl operators into an algebra of pseudodifferential operators and enables us to prove theorems about the spectral properties of Weyl operators by reducing them to standard facts about pseudodifferential operators. For instance we are able to prove a Weyl theorem on the asymptotic growth of eigenvalues with an “optimal” error estimate for such operators and an analogue of the Helton clustering theorem and the Chazarain-Duistermaat-Guillemin trace formula.  相似文献

Let G be a linear semisimple Lie group of split rank one with K a maximal compact subgroup. In this paper, we consider the space Cc(G:F) of all functions in Cc(G) whose left and right K-translates span a finite-dimensional space. Using the analytic continuation of the principal series to define the Fourier transform, we give a characterization of the Fourier transform of the space Cc(G:F). This gives an analog of the classical Paley-Wiener theorem which gives a characterization of the Fourier transform of the space Cc(Rn).  相似文献

An extension of the Tychonoff theorem is obtained in characterizing a compact space by the nets and the images induced by any family of continuous functions on it. The idea of this extension is applied to get a new process and new observations of compactifications and the realcompactification. Finally, a sufficient and necessary condition of a vector sublattice or a subalgebra of C1(X) to be dense in (C1(X),∥·∥) is provided in terms of the nets in X induced by C1(X), where C1(X) is the space of all bounded real continuous functions on a topological space X with pointwise ordering, and ∥·∥ is the supremum norm.  相似文献

For a Tychonoff space X, we denote by Cλ(X) the space of all real-valued continuous functions on X with set-open topology. In this paper, we study the topological-algebraic properties of Cλ(X). Our main results state that (1) Cλ(X) is a topological vector space (a topological group) iff λ is a family of C-compact sets and Cλ(X)=Cλ(X), where λ consists of all C-compact subsets of every set of λ. In particular, if Cλ(X) is a topological group, then the set-open topology coincides with the topology of uniform convergence on a family λ; (2) a topological group Cλ(X) is ω-narrow iff λ is a family of metrizable compact subsets of X.  相似文献

We describe the rational homotopy type of any component of the based mapping space map*(X,Y) as an explicit L algebra defined on the (desuspended and positive) derivations between Quillen models of X and Y. When considering the Lawrence–Sullivan model of the interval, we obtain an L model of the contractible path space of Y. We then relate this, in a geometrical and natural manner, to the L structure on the Fiorenza–Manetti mapping cone of any differential graded Lie algebra morphism, two in principal different algebraic objects in which Bernoulli numbers appear.  相似文献

A Hilbert bundle (p, B, X) is a type of fibre space p: BX such that each fibre p?1(x) is a Hilbert space. However, p?1(x) may vary in dimension as x varies in X, even when X is connected. We give two “homotopy” type classification theorems for Hilbert bundles having primarily finite dimensional fibres. An (m, n)-bundle over the pair (X, A) is a Hilbert bundle over (p, B, X) such that the dimension of p?1(x) is m for x in A and n otherwise. As a special case, we show that if X is a compact metric space, C+X the upper cone of the suspension SX, then the isomorphism classes of (m, n)-bundles over (SX, C+X) are in one-to-one correspondence with the members of [X, Vm(Cn)] where Vm(Cn) is the Stiefel manifold. The results are all applicable to the classification of separable, continuous trace C1-algebras, with specific results given to illustrate.  相似文献

It is shown that every separable Banach space X containing a subspace isomorphic to c0 has a subspace Y with basis such that XY ~ c0C and the latter space has a shrinking basis and an unconditional FDD. Moreover, it is shown that XC has a basis if X has the bounded approximation property.  相似文献

Abstract

Using a lifting of £ (μ, X) ([5],[6]), we construct a lifting ρ x of the seminormed vector space £ (μ, X) of measurable, essentially bounded X-valued functions. We show that in a certain sense such a lifting always exists. If μ is Lebesgue measure on (0, 1) we show that ρ x exists as map from £ ((O, 1), X) → £,((0, l), X) if and only if X is reflexive. In general the lifted function takes its values in X **. Therefore we investigate the question, when f ε £ (μ, X) is strictly liftable in the sense that the lifted function is a map with values even in X.

As an application we introduce the space £ strong (μ, L (X, Y**)), a subspace of the space of strongly measurable, essentially bounded L (X, Y, **)-valued functions, and the associated quotient space £ strong (μ, L (X,Y**)). We show that this space is a Banach space because there is a kind of a Dunford-Pettis Theorem for a subspace of L (X, £(μ Y**)). Finally we investigate the measurability property of functions in £(μ Y**)) und see that there exists a connection to the Radon-Nikodym property of the space L (X, Y).  相似文献

Let X be a 1-connected space with free-loop space ΛX. We introduce two spectral sequences converging towards H*(ΛX;Z/p) and H*((ΛX)hT;Z/p). The E2-terms are certain non-Abelian-derived functors applied to H*(X;Z/p). When H*(X;Z/p) is a polynomial algebra, the spectral sequences collapse for more or less trivial reasons. If X is a sphere it is a surprising fact that the spectral sequences collapse for p=2.  相似文献

Let X be a continuum. The n-fold hyperspace Cn(X), n<∞, is the space of all nonempty compact subsets of X with the Hausdorff metric. Four types of local connectivity at points of Cn(X) are investigated: connected im kleinen, locally connected, arcwise connected im kleinen and locally arcwise connected. Characterizations, as well as necessary or sufficient conditions, are obtained for Cn(X) to have one or another of the local connectivity properties at a given point. Several results involve the property of Kelley or C*-smoothness. Some new results are obtained for C(X), the space of subcontinua of X. A class of continua X is given for which Cn(X) is connected im kleinen only at subcontinua of X and for which any two such subcontinua must intersect.  相似文献

For a tower X1X2 ⊂ ⋯ of locally compact metric spaces, let X = ∪1 Xn denote the direct limit space. We show that the hyperspace 2X of nonempty compact subsets of X, with the Vietoris topology, is homeomorphic to the direct limit of the tower of hyperspaces 2X1∪2X2∪⋯. Consequently, if each Xn is a generalized Peano continuum, with Xn closed and nowhere dense in Xn+1, then 2X is homeomorphic to the direct limit of Hilbert cubes.  相似文献

We prove that the one sided translates of powers of a real valued continuous (respectively compactly supported) function with a unique maximum (or minimum) span a dense subspace in C(G) and C(X) (respectively in L P (G) and L P (X)) for any locally compact group G and for any Riemannian symmetric space X.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that a Banach space X and its dual space X have uniform normal structure if . The García-Falset coefficient R(X) is estimated by the CNJ(X)-constant and the weak orthogonality coefficient introduced by B. Sims. Finally, we present an affirmative answer to a conjecture by L. Maligranda concerning the relation between the James and CNJ(X)-constants for a Banach space.  相似文献

Let X be an infinite dimensional real reflexive Banach space with dual space X and GX, open and bounded. Assume that X and X are locally uniformly convex. Let T:XD(T)→2X be maximal monotone and strongly quasibounded, S:XD(S)→X maximal monotone, and C:XD(C)→X strongly quasibounded w.r.t. S and such that it satisfies a generalized (S+)-condition w.r.t. S. Assume that D(S)=LD(T)∩D(C), where L is a dense subspace of X, and 0∈T(0),S(0)=0. A new topological degree theory is introduced for the sum T+S+C, with degree mapping d(T+S+C,G,0). The reason for this development is the creation of a useful tool for the study of a class of time-dependent problems involving three operators. This degree theory is based on a degree theory that was recently developed by Kartsatos and Skrypnik just for the single-valued sum S+C, as above.  相似文献

Let Cα(X,Y) be the set of all continuous functions from X to Y endowed with the set-open topology where α is a hereditarily closed, compact network on X which is closed under finite unions. We proved that the density of the space Cα(X,Y) is at most iw(X)⋅d(Y) where iw(X) denotes the i-weight of the Tychonoff space X, and d(Y) denotes the density of the space Y when Y is an equiconnected space with equiconnecting function Ψ, and Y has a base consists of Ψ-convex subsets of Y. We also prove that the equiconnectedness of the space Y cannot be replaced with pathwise connectedness of Y. In fact, it is shown that for each infinite cardinal κ, there is a pathwise connected space Y such that π-weight of Y is κ, but Souslin number of the space Ck([0,1],Y) is κ2.  相似文献

In the study of the spectrum of a subalgebraA ofC(X), whereX is a completely regular Hausdorff space, a key question is, whether each homomorphism ?:AR has the point evaluation property for sequences inA, that is whether, for each sequence (f n ) inA, there exists a pointa inX such that ?(f n )=f n (a) for alln. In this paper it is proved that all algebras, which are closed under composition with functions inC (R) and have a certain local property, have the point evaluation property for sequences. Such algebras are, for instance, the spaceC m (E) (m=0,1,...,∞) ofC m -functions on any real locally convex spaceE. This result yields in a trivial manner that each homomorphism ? onA is a point evaluation, ifX is Lindelöf or ifA contains a sequence which separates points inX. Further, also a well known result as well as some new ones are obtained as a consequence of the main theorem.  相似文献

Let X be a compact first countable space. In this paper we show that the set of isometries of C(X) that are involutions is algebraically reflexive. As a consequence of a recent work of Botelho and Jamison this leads to the conclusion that the set of generalized bi-circular projections on C(X) is also algebraically reflexive. We also consider these questions for the space C(X,E) where E is a uniformly convex Banach space.  相似文献
