The pressure broadening of the carbon monoxide line near 115 GHz was measured at liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and room temperature, with typical experimental uncertainties of about 10%. Broadening gases were carbon monoxide, hydrogen, deuterium, helium, neon, and argon. No significant lineshifts were observed.  相似文献

Resonance and van der Waals broadening coefficients, as well as width to shift ratios, have been obtained by scanning argon emission lines produced in a high-pressure (~ 1 atm) glow discharge at a temperature of 1130°K. The resonance broadening coefficients yield absolute oscillator strengths of 0·283 ± 0·024 and 0·076 ± 0·008 for the two resonance lines at 1048 Å and 1067 Å. These oscillator strengths are in good agreement with previous measurements. The importance of higher-order terms in the van der Waals potential expansion is demonstrated by the measured coefficients.  相似文献

The pressure broadening coefficients and their temperature dependences for two submillimeter-wave transitions of ozone, one being monitored with Odin and the other to be monitored with JEM/SMILES and EOS-MLS, have been determined by using a BWO based submillimeter-wave spectrometer. The measurements have also been extended to one of the symmetric isotopic species, 16O18O16O. The isotopic species is observed in natural abundance and as a consequence the temperature dependence is not determined due to weak signal intensity. The pressure broadening parameters are determined with better than 1% accuracy, while the temperature dependence exponents are obtained within 1.5-3% accuracy for the normal species transitions.  相似文献

Self nitrogen, oxygen and air-broadened half-widths of the 115-GHz line of CO have been measured at various temperatures between 293 K (room temperature) and 220 K. The temperature dependence of the broadening parameter CCO-XW is described by a power law CCO-XW (T) = CCO-XW(293 K)(T/293)-n co-x. The values of CCOW (293 K) and nCO-X are presented for each broadening gas X, X - CO, N2 and O2. The usual relation CCO-airW (T) = 0.78CCO−N2W(T) + 0.21CCO−O2 W(T) is found to be valid in the temperature and pressure ranges of the present experiments.  相似文献

Profiles of C(III) and C(IV) lines emitted in the VUV and visible regions from a pulsed arc (Ne=1.5×1018 cm-3, Te=5.3×104K) have been measured with time resolution. The experimental results are in satisfactory agreement with the predictions of electron impact theory for (3-3) and (3-4) transitions for which the energy separation between the upper level and the nearest perturbing level is smaller than the electron thermal energy. For lines from (2-2) transitions for which the plasma is optically thick, damping constants determined experimentally agree with theoretical values within a factor of two.  相似文献

Microwave measurements of the self-broadening parameters of four pure rotational transitions of H2S have been carried out in the millimeter and submillimeter wavelength region. The resulting parameters are (in MHz torr-1): 11.0?10.1, 7.18±0.5; 22.0?21.1, 6.78±0.5; 21.1?20.2, 9.10±0.5; 33.0?32.1, 7.76 ±0.5. In addition. Anderson theory calculations have been carried out for these transitions and are found to be in good agreement.  相似文献

Using a semiclassical approach for the Stark broadening of atomic lines, we have calculated electron and proton impact line widths and shifts of 56 neutral He lines in the ultraviolet, visible and i.r. region of the spectrum. The comprehensive set of results obtained is used for investigation of Stark-broadening parameter regularities within the spectral series.  相似文献

提出一种基于气体特征吸收谱线的太赫兹时域光谱仪(THz-TDS)的频率校准方法。通过将THz-TDS测量结果与CO在THz波段的特征吸收谱线标准数据进行比较,对THz-TDS光学延时线运动速度控制不精确造成的光谱测量线性误差进行了修正,从而实现了THz-TDS的频率校准,修正后的THz-TDS频率测量平均误差为3.1 GHz。  相似文献

The Lorentz half-widths of collision-broadened lines in the rotation-vibration bands of diatomic molecules vary with line number |m| in the P and R branches. The observed variation of half-width for lines in the 0 → 1 and 0 → 2 bands of CO and HCl are interpreted in terms of a simple fitting procedure. One dominant source of line broadening is assumed to consist of diabatic hard collisions involving transitions from each rotational level to all higher rotational levels; the effectiveness of this process, which varies from line to line, is described in terms of an empirically adjusted collision cross section, a maximum collision parameter related to independently measured molecular properties, and upon the availability of the required energy and angular momentum in molecular collisions. The second source of line broadening, assumed to be the same for all lines, includes all other types of collisions and is represented by a single empirically adjusted cross section. The simple fitting procedure is applied successfully to self-broadening of CO lines and to foreign-gas broadening of CO and HCl; for HCl self-broadening an additional cross section for resonant-dipole processes must be included. Possible applications of the fitting procedure to HBr, HF, and CO2 are discussed. The simple procedure presented represents an approximation that may prove useful pending the development of readily applicable complete theories based on first principles.  相似文献

A new spectroscopic experiment has been constructed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This experiment employs the collisional cooling technique to study gases at temperatures below their condensation points. Specifically, the experiment has been designed to mimic the temperatures of the interstellar medium for the study of water under these conditions. The ultimate purpose is to measure state-to-state excitation rates under equilibrium conditions to provide insights into the interpretation of interstellar water spectra obtained from space-borne platforms such as the Herschel Space Observatory. This paper presents an overview of the new experiment including a discussion of its design and a detailed explanation of the system. In addition, we report a pressure broadening study of the J=5←4 transition of CO at 576 GHz used as a system validation. The new results are compared with measurements from the literature as a validation of the new experiment. In addition, the non-classical behavior of the pressure broadening of CO at low temperature observed in the measurements will be discussed.  相似文献

The air induced broadening coefficients of the pure rotational transitions of H2O at 556.936 GHz (110←101), and 752.033 GHz (211←202) were measured by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy. The air broadening coefficient was determined to be for the 556.936 GHz line and for the 752.033 GHz line, respectively. The present broadening coefficients for the 556.936 GHz water line are significantly smaller than those of Markov and Krupnov [Measurements of the pressure shift of the 1(10)-1(01) water line at 556.936 GHz produced by mixtures of gases. J Mol Spect 1995:172;211-4] but relatively close to the values of the HITRAN database. The measured data may improve the accuracy of the abundance of water vapor retrieved from spectra obtained by the Odin/SMR satellite instrument. The effect on the satellite retrieval processing is discussed.  相似文献

Absolute Stark-broadened profiles of the Al resonance lines (3p-4s, γ = 3961.5 and 3944.0 Å) have been measured under conditions of complete LTE in a conventional shock-tube. Plasma electron densities were determined by using a laser-interferometer. Uncertainties in the measurements (15% for the widths and 13% for the shifts) are discussed. A tabulation of theoretical profiles of isolated spectral lines broadened by quasi-static ions is presented. This calculation is based on the quasi-static ion theory of Griem. A greater frequency range and a larger number of ion-broadening parameters than published by Griem are employed to facilitate comparisions with experiments. Recent measurements of spectral line widths for singly- and doubly-ionized oxygen atoms, are compared with the corresponding values predicted by the semi-empirical method of Griem. On the basis of these results, as well as a similar comparison for singly- and doubly-ionized nitrogen atoms in a recent paper, we propose some “experimental” values of the threshold Gaunt factors for these ions.  相似文献
