Bosonization is applied to the SU(N) Thirring models, and interesting relations between various two-dimensional field theories arise. In particular, we show that the SU(2) model is equivalent to a version of the Sine-Gordon equation plus a free massless field.  相似文献

The onset of symmetry breaking in the chiral SU(n) × SU(n) linear σ model is investigated. It is shown that the model possesses no stable fixed points in d = 4 ? ? dimensions and that the chiral symmetry of the theory can be broken via the CW mechanism when d = 4. We demonstrate that using bosonization techniques in 1+1-dimensional QCD in the chiral limit a unique definition of baryons is possible for finiteN c despite the fact that mesons, baryons and anti-baryons are massless. The definition which is based on the construction of an SU(2)-algebra provides the basis for a new approach to investigate hadronic properties in the strong coupling limit. It is used to study the Fock-state decomposition and structure functions of baryons for various finite values ofN c . The results are discussed in comparison to similar calculations based on discretized lightcone quantization.  相似文献

A field-theoretical model, due to Lévy, is studied. It contains a triplet of quarks and a pseudoscalar and a scalar meson nonet. The original SU(3) × SU(3) symmetry is broken by terms linear in the scalar meson fields. A renormalization and regularization procedure is defined in order to remove the ultra-violet divergences. The possibility of a spontaneous breakdown of the symmetry is described and the Goldstone theorem is verified in the one-loop approximation.  相似文献

We study chiral symmetry breaking (χSB) in SU(2) lattice gauge theory with quarks in the l = 12, l = 1, l = 32, and l = 2 representations of the color group. We perform Monte Carlo evaluations of ψψ〉 in the quenched approximation and extract the relevant length scales for χSB. We revise a previous estimate for the ratio between the chiral symmetry restoration temperatures for fundamental and adjoint quarks and obtain Tl = 1/Tl = 12 ~ 8. Our results for the higher representations, l = 32and l = 2, are consistent with Casimir scaling and give C2gmom2 ~ 4. Many aspects of our calculational method are explained in detail. The issues discussed include the relation between χSB in the quenched approximation and the spectrum of the Dirac operator, the flavor symmetries of euclidean staggered fermions, estimates of finite-size effects and the reliability of m → 0 extrapolations on finite lattices.  相似文献

We present the formalism for computing the critical exponent corresponding to the β-function of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model withSU(M)×SU(M) continuous chiral symmetry atO(1/N 2) in a largeN expansion, whereN is the number of fermions. We find that the equations can only be solved for the caseM=2 and subsequently an analytic expression is then derived. Mass measurements are carried out in a lattice U(1) gauge-Higgs system with the Higgs fields transforming as a doublet under a global SU(2) symmetry. The model exhibits three distinct phases: Coulomb, Higgs and confining. Evidence is found for a massless vector state in the Coulomb phase, and massless Goldstone scalars in the Higgs phase. Also the behavior is studied of the massive states near the transitions between the Coulomb and Higgs phases and between the confining and Higgs phases.  相似文献

In this Letter we investigate an SU(3) extension of the axially symmetric B=2 chiral quark soliton model. The classical soliton is extended to the SU(3) by trivial embedding. We expand the quark determinant in terms of the collective angular velocity up to the second order and the quark mass difference of the first order. The mass spectrum and the binding energy of the baryon–baryon channels down to strangeness S=−6 are then obtained.  相似文献

We describe a soliton bag model which incorporates explicitly SU(2) × SU(2) chiral dynamics, including the conservation of the polar vector current, the partial conservation of the axial vector current, and the SU(2) × SU(2) current algebra.
