Values for the specific rates of solvolysis of the benzhydryldimethylsulfonium ion in 34 solvents have been analyzed using various forms of the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation. The specific rates are insensitive toward changes in solvent nucleophilicity (N(T)) values, and they correlate best against a combination of Y(+) values (based on the solvolyses of the 1-adamantyldimethylsulfonium ion) and aromatic ring parameter (I) values. Common-molecule return is observed, being especially powerful in solvents rich in fluoro alcohol; the logarithm of the associated mass law constant correlates inversely with the solvent N(T) values. The product selectivities in ethanol-water mixtures are also consistent with an S(N)1 mechanism for the solvolyses.  相似文献

The specific rates of solvolysis of p-nitrobenzyl chloroformate are well correlated using the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation, with a high sensitivity (l) to changes in solvent nucleophilicity (N(T)) and a moderate sensitivity (m) to changes in solvent ionizing power (Y(Cl)). The values are consistent with a rate-determining association within an association-dissociation pathway. The selectivity values (S) for the attack at the acyl carbon show a modest preference for ethanol over water and a relatively high preference for ethanol over 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol (TFE). The solvolyses of benzyl chloroformate show similar characteristics in solvents of relatively high nucleophilicity and/or low ionizing power. In solvents with considerable fluoro alcohol content, an ionization mechanism, accompanied by loss of carbon dioxide, leads to benzyl chloride, benzyl alcohol, and benzyl alkyl ether. A new correlation now applies, with a much lower l value and somewhat higher m value. The S values for this pathway are close to unity, even in TFE-ethanol mixtures, consistent with the components of the binary solvent capturing a highly reactive carbocation.  相似文献

The trans influence of various X ligands in hypervalent iodine(III) complexes of the type CF(3)[I(X)Cl] has been quantified using the trans I-Cl bond length (d(X)), the electron density ρ(r) at the (3, -1) bond critical point of the trans I-Cl bond, and topological features of the molecular electrostatic potential (MESP). The MESP minimum at the Cl lone pair region (V(min)) is a sensitive measure of the trans influence. The trans influence of X ligands in hypervalent iodine(V) complexes is smaller than that in iodine(III) complexes, while the relative ordering of this influence is the same in both complexes. In CF(3)[I(X)Y] complexes, the mutual trans influence due to the trans disposition of the X and Y ligands is quantified using the energy E(XY) of the isodesmic reaction CF(3)[I(X)Cl] + CF(3)[I(Y)Cl] → CF(3)[I(Cl)Cl] + CF(3)[I(X)Y]. E(XY) is predicted with good accuracy using the trans-influence parameters of X and Y, measured in terms of d(X), ρ(r), or V(min). The bond dissociation energy (E(d)) of X or Y in CF(3)[I(X)Y] is significantly influenced by the trans influence as well as the mutual trans influence. This is confirmed by deriving an empirical equation to predict E(d) using one of the trans-influence parameters (d(X), ρ(r), or V(min)) and the mutual trans-influence parameter E(XY) for a large number of complexes. The quantified values of both the trans influence and the mutual trans-influence parameters may find use in assessing the stability of hypervalent iodine compounds as well as in the design of new stable hypervalent complexes. Knowledge about the I-X bond dissociation energies will be useful for explaining the reactivity of hypervalent iodine complexes and the mechanism of their reactions.  相似文献

The compounds Y[N(QPPh2)2]3 (Q = S (1), Se (2)) have been synthesized in good yield from the protonolysis reactions between Y[N(SiMe3)2]3 and HN(QPPh2)2 in methylene chloride (CH2Cl2). The compounds are not isostructural. In 1, the Y atom is surrounded by three similar [N(SPPh2)2]- ligands bound eta 3 through two S atoms and an N atom. The molecule possesses D3 symmetry, as determined in the solid state by X-ray crystallography and in solution by 89Y and 31P NMR spectroscopies. In 2, the Y atom is surrounded again by three [N(SePPh2)2]- ligands, but two are bound eta 2 through the two Se atoms and the other ligand is bound eta 3 through the two Se atoms and an N atom. Although a fluxional process is detected in the 31P and 77Se NMR spectra, a triplet is found in the 89Y NMR spectrum of 2 (delta = 436 ppm relative to YCl3 in D2O, 2JY-P = 5 Hz). This implies that on average the conformation of one eta 3- and two eta 2-bound ligands is retained in solution. Identity ion-pair S(N)2 reactions LiX + CH(3)X --> XCH(3) + LiX (X = F, Cl, Br, and I) have been investigated in the gas phase and in solution at the level of the modified Gaussian-2 theory. Two possible reaction mechanisms, inversion and retention, are discussed. The reaction barriers relative to the complexes for the inversion mechanism [DeltaH(cent) ( not equal )(inv)] are found to be much higher than the corresponding values for the gas phase anionic S(N)2 reactions, decreasing in the following order: F (263.6 kJ mol(-1)) > Cl (203.3 kJ mol(-1)) > Br (174.7 kJ mol(-1)) > I (150.7 kJ mol(-1)). The barrier gaps between the two mechanisms [DeltaH(cent) ( not equal ) (ret) - DeltaH(cent) ( not equal ) (inv)] increase in the order F (-62.7 kJ mol(-1)) < Cl (4.4 kJ mol(-1)) < Br (24.9 kJ mol(-1)) < I (45.1 kJ mol(-1)). Thus, the retention mechanism is energetically favorable for fluorine and the inversion mechanism is favored for other halogens, in contrast to the anionic S(N)2 reactions at carbon where the inversion reaction channel is much more favorable for all of the halogens. The stabilization energies for the dipole-dipole complexes CH(3)X. LiX (DeltaH(comp)) are found to be similar for the entire set of systems with X = F, Cl, Br, and I, ranging from 53.4 kJ mol(-1) for I up to 58.9 kJ mol(-1) for F. The polarizable continuum model (PCM) has been used to evaluate the direct solvent effects on the energetics of the anionic and ion-pair S(N)2 reactions. The energetic profiles are found to be still double-well shaped for most of the ion-pair S(N)2 reactions in the solution, but the potential profile for reaction LiI + CH(3)I is predicted to be unimodal in the protic solvent. Good correlations between central barriers [DeltaH(cent) ( not equal ) (inv)] with the geometric looseness of the inversion transition state %C-X( not equal ), the dissociation energies of the C-X bond (D(C-X)) and Li-X bond (D(Li-X)) are observed, respectively.  相似文献

The ground-state rotational spectra of the six isotopomers (16)O(2) (14)N(35)Cl, (16)O(2) (14)N(37)Cl, (18)O(16)O(14)N(35)Cl, (18)O(2) (14)N(35)Cl, (16)O(2) (15)N(35)Cl, and (16)O(2) (15)N(37)Cl of nitryl chloride were observed with a pulsed-jet, Fourier-transform microwave spectrometer to give rotational constants, Cl and (14)N nuclear quadrupole coupling, and spin-rotation coupling constants. These spectroscopic constants were interpreted to give r(0), r(s), and r(m) ((2)) versions of the molecular geometry and information about the electronic redistribution at N when nitryl chloride is formed from NO(2) and a Cl atom. The r(m) ((2)) geometry has r(N-Cl)=1.8405(6) A, r(N-O)=1.1929(2) A, and the angle ONO=131.42(4) degrees , while the corresponding quantities for the r(s) geometry are 1.8489 A, 1.1940 A, and 131.73 degrees , respectively. Electronic structure calculations at CCSD(T)cc-pVXZ (X=T, Q, or 5) levels of theory were carried out to give a r(e) geometry, vibration-rotation corrections to equilibrium rotational constants, and values of the (35)Cl and (14)N nuclear hyperfine (quadrupole and spin-rotation) coupling constants in good agreement with experiment. The equilibrium geometry at the CCSD(T)/cc-pV5Z level of theory has r(N-Cl)=1.8441 A, r(N-O)=1.1925 A and the angle ONO=131.80 degrees . The observed rotational constants were corrected for the vibration-rotation effects calculated ab initio to yield semiempirical equilibrium constants which were then fitted to give the following semiempirical equilibrium geometry: r(N-Cl)=1.8467(2) A, r(N-O)=1.1916(1) A, and the angle ONO=131.78(3) degrees .  相似文献

Reductive elimination of C-Cl and C-C bonds from binuclear organopalladium complexes containing Pd-Pd bonds with overall formal oxidation state +III are explored by density functional theory for dichloromethane and acetonitrile solvent environments. An X-ray crystallographically authenticated neutral complex, [(L-C,N)ClPd(μ-O(2)CMe)](2) (L = benzo[h]quinolinyl) (I), is examined for C-Cl coupling, and the proposed cation, [(L-C,N)PhPd(1)(μ-O(2)CMe)(2)Pd(2)(L-C,N)](+) (II), examined for C-C coupling together with (L-C,N)PhPd(1)(μ-O(2)CMe)(2)Pd(2)Cl(L-C,N) (III) as a neutral analogue of II. In both polar and nonpolar solvents, reaction from III via chloride dissociation from Pd(2) to form II is predicted to be favored. Cation II undergoes Ph-C coupling at Pd(1) with concomitant Pd(1)-Pd(2) lengthening and shortening of the Pd(1)-O bond trans to the carbon atom of L; natural bond orbital analysis indicates that reductive coupling from II involves depopulation of the d(x(2)-y(2)) orbital of Pd(1) and population of the d(z(2)) orbitals of Pd(1) and Pd(2) as the Pd-Pd bond lengthens. Calculations for the symmetrical dichloro complex I indicate that a similar dissociative pathway for C-Cl coupling is competitive with a direct (nondissociative) pathway in acetonitrile, but the direct pathway is favored in dichloromethane. In contrast to the dissociative mechanism, direct coupling for I involves population of the d(x(2)-y(2)) orbital of Pd(1) with Pd(1)-O(1) lengthening, significantly less population occurs for the d(z(2)) orbital of Pd(1) than for the dissociative pathway, and d(z(2)) at Pd(2) is only marginally populated resulting in an intermediate that is formally a Pd(1)(I)-Pd(2)(III) species, (L-Cl-N,Cl)Pd(1)(μ-O(2)CMe)Pd(2)Cl(O(2)CMe)(L-C,N) that releases chloride from Pd(2) with loss of Pd(I)-Pd(III) bonding to form a Pd(II) species. A similar process is formulated for the less competitive direct pathway for C-C coupling from III, in this case involving decreased population of the d(z(2)) orbital of Pd(2) and strengthening of the Pd(I)-Pd(III) interaction in the analogous intermediate with η(2)-coordination at Pd(1) by L-Ph-N, C(1)-C(2).  相似文献

Reaction of two equivalents of n-BuLi with sterically demanding amine-bis(phenol) compounds, H(2)O(2)NN'(R) (Me(2)NCH(2)CH(2)N{CH(2)-3,5-R(2)-C(6)H(2)OH}(2); R = t-Bu or t-Pe (tert-pentyl)) yields isolable lithium complexes, Li(2)(O(2)NN'(R)), in good yields. Upon reaction with one equivalent of LnCl(3)(THF)(x), the lithium salts afford rare earth amine-phenolate chloride complexes in good yields, Ln(O(2)NN'(R))Cl(THF); Ln = Y, Yb, Ho, Gd, Sm, Pr. Crystals of Y(O(2)NN'(t-Bu))Cl(THF), 1, and Sm(O(2)NN'(t-Bu))Cl(DME), 2, suitable for single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis were obtained. In contrast to previously reported [{Gd(O(2)NN'(t-Pe))(THF)(micro-Cl)}(2)] and related La and Sm complexes, these species are monomeric. 1 contains Y in a distorted octahedral environment bonded to two amine, two phenolate, one THF and one chloride donor. 2 contains Sm in a distorted capped trigonal prismatic environment bonded to two amine, two phenolate, two DME oxygens and one chloride donor. The Ln(O(2)NN'(t-Pe))Cl(THF) complexes were active initators for the controlled ring-opening polymerization of epsilon-caprolactone with a tendency to form low molecular weight cyclic polyesters (M(n) 3000-5000). The conversion rates, although slower than related amido and alkyl species, were different for monomeric and dimeric initiators. The size of the metal centre also affected the conversions and the molecular weights achieved.  相似文献

Rate constants for the reactions of Laser flash photolytically generated benzhydrylium ions (diarylcarbenium ions) with halide ions have been determined in various solvents, including neat and aqueous acetonitrile as well as some alcohols. Substitution of the rate constants into the correlation equation log k = s(N + E) yields the nucleophilicity parameters N for the halide ions in different solvents. Linear correlations with negative slopes are found between the nucleophilicity parameters N for Cl(-) and Br(-) in different solvents and the solvent ionizing powers Y of the corresponding solvents. Increasing halide solvation reduces the rates of carbocation/chloride combinations by approximately half as much as it increases the rates of ionizations of benzhydryl chlorides. Comparison of the solvent dependent nucleophilicity parameters N of halide anions and the nucleophilicity parameters N(1) for solvents yields a quantitative prediction of common ion rate depression, as demonstrated by the analysis of a variety of literature reported mass-law constants alpha. Combination of the rate constants for the reactions of benzhydrylium ions with halide ions (k(-)()(1)) reported in this work with the ionization constants of benzhydryl halides (k(1)) and the recently reported rate constants for the reactions of benzhydrylium ions with solvents (k(2)) yields complete quantitative free energy profiles for solvolysis reactions. The applicability of Hammond's postulate for interpreting solvolysis reactions can thus be examined quantitatively.  相似文献

A study was carried out on the solvolysis of substituted phenyl chloroformates in AOT/isooctane/water microemulsions. (AOT is the sodium salt of bis(2-ethyhexyl)sulfosuccinate.) The results obtained have been interpreted by taking into account the distribution of the chloroformates between the continuous medium and the interface of the microemulsions, where the reactions take place. The values obtained for the rate constant in the interface, k(i), decreases as the water content of the microemulsions increases, as a consequence of the decrease in its nucleophilic capacity. This behavior is consistent with a rate-determining step of water addition to the carbonyl group. The values of k(i) allow us to obtain the slopes of the Hammett correlations at the interface of the microemulsions, rho = 2.25, whose values are greater than those obtained in an aqueous medium, rho = 0.82. This increase in the Hammett slope is similar to that observed in ethanol/water mixtures and is a consequence of a variation in the structure of the transition state of the reaction where there is a smaller extension of the expulsion of the leaving group. The values of the rate constants at the interface of the microemulsions have allowed us, by means of the Grunwald-Winstein equation, to obtain the solvent ionizing power and the nucleophilicity of the solvent. The values obtained for Y(Cl) increase together with the water content of the microemulsion, whereas the values of N(T) decrease. These variations are a consequence of the interaction between the AOT headgroups and the interfacial water, where the water molecules act like electronic acceptors. The intensity of this interaction is greater if the system has a small water content, which explains the variation of Y(Cl) and N(T).  相似文献

An extensive photophysical characterization of 3-chloro-4-methylumbelliferone (3Cl4MU) in the ground-state, S(0), first excited singlet state, S(1), and lowest triplet state, T(1), was undertaken in water, neutral ethanol, acidified ethanol, and basified ethanol. Quantitative measurements of quantum yields (fluorescence, phosphorescence, intersystem crossing, internal conversion, and singlet oxygen formation) together with lifetimes were obtained at room and low temperature in water, dioxane/water mixtures, and alcohols. The different transient species were assigned and a general kinetic scheme is presented, summarizing the excited-state multiequilibria of 3Cl4MU. In water, the equilibrium is restricted to neutral (N*) and anionic (A*) species, both in the ground (pK(a) = 7.2) and first excited singlet states (pK(a)* = 0.5). In dioxane/water mixtures (pH ca. 6), substantial changes of the kinetics of the S(1) state were observed with the appearance of an additional tautomeric T* species. In low water content mixtures (mixture 9:1 v:v), only the neutral (N*) and tautomeric (T*) forms of 3Cl4MU are observed, whereas at higher water content mixtures (water mole fraction superior to 0.45), all three species N*, T*, and A* coexist in the excited state. In the triplet state, in the nonprotic and nonpolar solvent dioxane, the observed transient signals were assigned as the triplet-triplet transition of the neutral form, N*(T(1)) → N*(T(n)). In water, two transient species were observed and are assigned as the triplets of the neutral N*(T(1)) and the anionic form, A*(T(1)) (also obtained in basified ethanol). The phosphorescence spectra and decays of 3Cl4MU, in neutral, acidified, and basified solutions, demonstrate that only these two species N*(T(1)) and A*(T(1)) exist in the lowest lying triplet state, T(1). The radiative channel was found dominant for the deactivation of the anionic species, whereas with the neutral the S(1) ? S(0) internal conversion competes with fluorescence. For both N* and A* the intersystem crossing yield represents a minor deactivation channel for S(1).  相似文献

Thermally robust materials of the M(5-X-pyrimidin-2-olate)2 type [M = Co, X = Cl (1(Cl)), X = Br (1(Br)), X = I (1(I)); M = Zn, X = Cl (2(Cl)), X = Br (2(Br)), X = I (2(I))] have been synthesized. Their X-ray powder diffraction structural characterization has revealed that they crystallize as I2d diamondoid frameworks, isomorphous to those of the pristine [M(pyrimidin-2-olate)2]n analogues (1(H), M = Co; 2(H), M = Zn). The magnetic measurements of the 1(X) series at magnetic fields of 100, 300, and 5000 Oe reveal a weak ferromagnetic ordering taking place below the Néel temperature (T(N) approximately 20 K), arising from spin canting phenomena of the antiferromagnetically coupled cobalt centers. Moreover, magnetic hysteresis studies carried out on the 1(X) series at 2 K reveal a strong dependence of both the coercive field H(coer) (2500, 1000, 775, and 500 Oe for 1(Br), 1(Cl), 1(I), and 1(H), respectively) and the remnant magnetization M(rem) (0.0501 mu(B) for 1(Br) and 1(Cl), 0.0457 mu(B) for 1(I), and 0.0358 mu(B) for 1(H)) on the 5-substituent of the pyrimidin-2-olates. The molecular alloys [Co(5-Y-pyrimidin-2-olate)2] (Y = Cl/Br, 1(Cl/Br)) and [Co(5-Y'-pyrimidin-2-olate)2] (Y' = Br/I, 1(Br/I)) have also been prepared and characterized, proving that they have intermediate properties. These materials combine interesting functional properties, such as chemical inertness, magnetism, photoluminescence, and (although weak) SHG activity.  相似文献

Enzymes in the oxygen-activating class of mononuclear non-heme iron oxygenases (MNOs) contain a highly conserved iron center facially ligated by two histidine nitrogen atoms and one carboxylate oxygen atom that leave one face of the metal center (three binding sites) open for coordination to cofactor, substrate, and/or dioxygen. A comparative family of [Fe(II/III)(N(2)O(n))(L)(4-n))](±x), n = 1-3, L = solvent or Cl(-), model complexes, based on a ligand series that supports a facially ligated N,N,O core that is then modified to contain either one or two additional carboxylate chelate arms, has been structurally and spectroscopically characterized. EPR studies demonstrate that the high-spin d(5) Fe(III)g = 4.3 signal becomes more symmetrical as the number of carboxylate ligands decreases across the series Fe(N(2)O(3)), Fe(N(2)O(2)), and Fe(N(2)O(1)), reflecting an increase in the E/D strain of these complexes as the number of exchangeable/solvent coordination sites increases, paralleling the enhanced distribution of electronic structures that contribute to the spectral line shape. The observed systematic variations in the Fe(II)-Fe(III) oxidation-reduction potentials illustrate the fundamental influence of differential carboxylate ligation. The trend towards lower reduction potential for the iron center across the [Fe(III)(N(2)O(1))Cl(3)](-), [Fe(III)(N(2)O(2))Cl(2)](-) and [Fe(III)(N(2)O(3))Cl](-) series is consistent with replacement of the chloride anions with the more strongly donating anionic O-donor carboxylate ligands that are expected to stabilize the oxidized ferric state. This electrochemical trend parallels the observed dioxygen sensitivity of the three ferrous complexes (Fe(II)(N(2)O(1)) < Fe(II)(N(2)O(2)) < Fe(II)(N(2)O(3))), which form μ-oxo bridged ferric species upon exposure to air or oxygen atom donor (OAD) molecules. The observed oxygen sensitivity is particularly interesting and discussed in the context of α-ketoglutarate-dependent MNO enzyme mechanisms.  相似文献

Comprehensive excitation behaviors of 7-N,N-diethylamino-3-hydroxyflavone (I) have been investigated via steady state, temperature-dependent emission, and fluorescence upconversion to probe the excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (PT) reaction. Upon excitation, I undergoes ultrafast (<120 fs), adiabatic type of charge transfer (CT), so that the dipolar vector in the Franck-Condon excited state is much different from that in the ground state. In polar solvents such as CH2Cl2 and CH3CN, early relaxation dynamics clearly reveals the competitive rates between solvent relaxation and PT dynamics. After reaching thermal equilibrium, a relatively slow, solvent-polarity-dependent rate (a few tens of picoseconds(-1)) of PT takes places. Firm support of the early relaxation dynamics is rendered by the spectral temporal evolution, which resolves two distinct bands ascribed to CT and PT emission. The results, in combination with ab initio calculations on the dipolar vectors for various corresponding states, led us to conclude that excited-state normal (N*) and excited proton-transfer tautomer (T*) possesses very different dipole orientation, whereas the dipole orientation of the normal ground state (N) is between that of N* and T*. PT is thus energetically favorable at the Franck-Condon excited N*, and its rate is competitive with respect to the solvent relaxation dynamics induced by CT. Unlike the well-known PT system, 4'-N,N-diethylamino-3-hydroxyflavone, in which equilibrium exists between solvent-equilibrated N(eq)* and T(eq)*, N(eq)* --> T(eq)* PT for I is a highly exergonic, irreversible process in all solvents studied. Further temperature-dependent studies deduce a solvent-polarity-perturbed energy barrier of 3.6 kcal/mol for the N(eq)* --> T(eq)* PT in CH3CN. The proposed dipole-moment-tuning PT mechanism with the associated relaxation dynamics is believed to apply to many PT molecules in polar, aprotic solvents.

本文主要研究PEKEKK(T/I)的合…  相似文献

This work presents the substituent effects on the 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts in the cis-isomer of 3-Y-cyclohexanols (Y = Cl, Br, I, CH3, N(CH3)2 and OCH3) and 3-Y-1-methoxycyclohexanes (Y = F, Cl, Br, I, CH3, N(CH3)2 and OCH3). It was observed that the H-3 chemical shift, due to the substituent alpha-effect, increases with the increase of substituent electronegativity when Y is from the second row of the periodic table of elements, (CH3 *sigma(C3--H3a) interaction energy. This interaction energy, for the halogenated compounds, decreases with an increase in size of the halogen, and this is a possible reason for the largest measured chemical shift for H-3 of the iodo-derivatives. The beta-effect of the analyzed compounds showed that the chemical shift of hydrogens at C-2 and C-4 increases with the decrease of n(Y) --> *sigma(C2-C3) and n(Y) --> *sigma(C3-C4) interaction energies, respectively, showing a behavior similar to H-3. The alpha-effect on 13C chemical shifts correlates well with substituent electronegativity, while the beta-effect is inversely related to electronegativity in halogenated compounds. NBO analysis indicated that the substituent inductive effect is the predominant effect on 13C NMR chemical shift changes for the alpha-carbon. It was also observed that C-2 and C-4 chemical shifts for compounds with N(CH3)2, OCH3 and F are more shielded in comparison to the compounds having a halogen, most probably because of the larger interaction of the lone pair of more electronegative atoms (n(N) > n(O) > n(F)) with *sigma(C2-C3), *sigma(C3-C4) and *sigma(C3-H3a) in comparison with the same type of interaction with the lone pair of the other halogens.  相似文献

The original Grunwald-Winstein equation (1948) involved the development of a scale of solvent ionizing power (Y). Subsequent work has refined this scale and involved the development of scales of solvent nucleophilicity (N) and a term to correct for deviations when aromatic rings are present, governed by the aromatic ring parameter (I). These three scales, and the sensitivities towards each, can be related to specific rates of solvolysis through linear free energy relationships (LFERs).One important area of application of LFERs has been to the solvolyses of tert-alkyl halides. It has been proposed that the solvolysis of tert-butyl chloride involves a nucleophilic component, although other workers have suggested that the effects observed are related to electrophilic not nucleophilic influences. Takeuchi (1997) studied a compound with two of the methyl groups of tert-butyl chloride replaced by neopentyl groups. For this highly-hindered substrate there was no evidence for nucleophilic participation. Liu (1998) and Takeuchi (2001) have reported concerning the solvolyses of additional significantly-hindered tertiary alkyl chlorides. Liu (2009) has presented a parallel study of bromides. Martins (2008) has considered hindered tertiary alkyl halides, mainly with carbon-carbon multiple bonds as substituents. It was proposed that the hI term was of importance, with the sensitivities (h) sometimes positive and sometimes negative. To explain negative values, it was suggested that the I scale might contain a nucleophilicity component. In this review, we bring together, with analysis and commentary, the work of Takeuchi, Liu, Martins and others concerning the solvolyses of tertiary alkyl halides, with emphasis on the relevance of the three scales that have been developed for use in Grunwald-Winstein correlations.  相似文献

Detailed insights into the excited-state enol(N*)-keto(T*) intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction in 2-(2'-hydroxy-4'-diethylaminophenyl)benzothiazole (HABT) have been investigated via steady-state and femtosecond fluorescence upconversion approaches. In cyclohexane, in contrast to the ultrafast rate of ESIPT for the parent 2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole (>2.9+/-0.3 x 10(13) s(-1)), HABT undergoes a relatively slow rate (approximately 5.4+/-0.5 x 10(11) s(-1)) of ESIPT. In polar aprotic solvents competitive rate of proton transfer and rate of solvent relaxation were resolved in the early dynamics. After reaching the solvation equilibrium in the normal excited state (N(eq)*), ESIPT takes place with an appreciable barrier. The results also show N(eq)*(enol)<-->T(eq)*(keto) equilibrium, which shifts toward N(eq)* as the solvent polarity increases. Temperature-dependent relaxation dynamics further resolved a solvent-induced barrier of 2.12 kcal mol(-1) for the forward reaction in CH(2)Cl(2). The observed spectroscopy and dynamics are rationalized by a significant difference in dipole moment between N(eq)* and T(eq)*, while the dipolar vector for the enol form in the ground state (N) is in between that of N(eq)* and T(eq)*. Upon N-->N* Franck-Condon excitation, ESIPT is energetically favorable, and its rate is competitive with the solvation relaxation process. Upon reaching equilibrium configurations N(eq)* and T(eq)*, forward and/or backward ESIPT takes place with an appreciable solvent polarity induced barrier due to differences in polarization equilibrium between N(eq)* and T(eq)*.  相似文献
