Sorption of phosphate onto gibbsite (gamma-Al(OH)3) and kaolinite has been studied by both macroscopic and 31P solid-state NMR measurements. Together these measurements indicate that phosphate is sorbed by a combination of surface complexation and surface precipitation with the relative amounts of these phases depending on pH and phosphate concentration. At low pH and high phosphate concentrations sorption is dominated by the presence of both amorphous and crystalline precipitate phases. The similarity between the single-pulse and CP/MAS NMR spectra suggests that the precipitate phases form a thin layer on the surface of the particles in close contact with protons from surface hydroxyl groups or coordinated water molecules. While the crystalline phase is only evident on samples below pH 7, amorphous AlPO4 was found at all pH and phosphate concentrations studied. As pH was increased the fraction of phosphate sorbed as an inner-sphere complex increased, becoming the dominant surface species by pH 8. Comparison of sorption and NMR results suggests that the inner-sphere complexes form by monodentate coordination to singly coordinated Al-OH sites on the edges of the gibbsite and kaolinite crystals. Outer-sphere phosphate complexes, which are readily desorbed, are also present at high pH.  相似文献

The crystalline structures of ethylene-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (EDAM) copolymers, which were either melt-quenched (mq) or isothermally crystallized (iso), were studied by solid-state high-resolution 13C NMR spectroscopy. It revealed that the crystalline structures of EDAM copolymers are greatly dependent on the comonomer content, crystallization condition and the storage time after treatment. The ratio of monoclinic to orthorhombic crystal (M/O) increases with the increase in the dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate content. Higher crystallinity and lower monoclinic content were observed for iso samples compared to the mq ones. The monoclinic crystal was found to melt at lower temperatures compared to the orthorhombic one during the heating process. The degree of crystallinity as well as the contents of monoclinic and orthorhombic crystals and the M/O value are found to increase after storage at room temperature for a month.  相似文献

The results of a study on the polarographic behaviour of TBP and its influence on the determination of uranyl ions is presented. The half-wave potential of the adsorption wave of TBP depends on the concentration of TBP, type of supporting elec trolyte and its concentration. In the presence of TBP the polarographic wave of U(VI) ion is changed. Below 7·10?5 M TBP the polarographic wave of U(VI) is not affected, between 7·10?5 and 2·10?4 M TBP the shape, height and half-wave potential of U(VI) waves are changed and above 2·10?4 M, up to saturated solution of TBP, the waves of U(VI) do, not change further. The bes supporting electrolytes for the determination of U(VI) are KNO3 or NaClO4 in concentrations of 0.1 to 0.5 M, pH 1–2 and TBP concentrations from 3·10?4 to 1.2·10?3 M.  相似文献

A novel approach for detection of ligand binding to a protein in solid samples is described. Hydrated precipitates of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-xL show well-resolved (13)C-(13)C 2D solid-state NMR spectra that allow site-specific assignment of resonances for many residues in uniformly (13)C-enriched samples. Binding of a small peptide or drug-like organic molecule leads to changes in the chemical shift of resonances from multiple residues in the protein that can be monitored to characterize binding. Differential chemical shifts can be used to distinguish between direct protein-ligand contacts and small conformational changes of the protein induced by ligand binding. The agreement with prior solution-state NMR results indicates that the binding pocket in solid and liquid samples is similar for this protein. Advantages of different labeling schemes involving selective (13)C enrichment of methyl groups of Ala, Val, Leu, and Ile (Cdelta1) for characterizing protein-ligand interactions are also discussed. It is demonstrated that high-resolution solid-state NMR spectroscopy on uniformly or extensively (13)C-enriched samples has the potential to screen proteins of moderate size ( approximately 20 kDa) for ligand binding as hydrated solids. The results presented here suggest the possibility of using solid-state NMR to study ligand binding in proteins not amenable to solution NMR.  相似文献

The transport of gases in many glassy polymers can be described satisfactorily by means of a “dual-mode sorption” model. The transport behavior observed with a given gas/polymer system can be characterized by the model parameters, which are obtained from solubility measurements in conjunction with absorption/desorption or permeability measurements. The present study discusses the inverse problem, namely, the prediction of the absorption/desorption behavior of a gas in a glassy polymer from a specified set of dual-mode sorption parameters. Satisfactory agreement is obtained between reported absorption rates of sulfur dioxide in glassy polycarbonate and of water vapor in Kapton® ?

    High-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) measurements of the various intrinsic redox states of polyaniline (PANI), using a monochromatized Al—Kα source, were carried out. The presence of the imine, amine and positively charged nitrogen species corresponding to a particular intrinsic redox state and protonation level of the polymer was resolved quantitatively and unambiguously. The result confirmed the peak assignments of former XPS core-level studies using the lower resolution non-monochromatized Mg—Kα X-ray source. Thus, the high-resolution XPS using a monochromatized Al—Kα X-ray source is a truly unique tool for the convenient and quantitative analysis of the various intrinsic redox states of PANI.     Sorption process by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was studied by exposing polymeric film made from anthracene labeled poly(methyl methacrylate) (An-PMMA) chains to various concentrations of saturated chloroform vapor. It was observed that the reflectivity changes were fast and reversible. The changes in reflectivity implied the swelling behavior of polymeric film during adsorbtion and can be explained by capturing of chloroform molecules. When clean air is introduced into gas cell similar behavior is observed but this time in the opposite direction as a result of desorption. Fick's law for diffusion was used to quantify real time SPR data for the swelling and desorption processes. It was observed that diffusion coefficients (D(s)) for swelling obeyed the t(1/2) law and found to be correlated with the amount of chloroform content in the cell. Diffusion coefficients (D(d)) during desorption were also measured and found to be increased as the saturated chloroform vapor content is increased in the cell.  相似文献

    The kinetics and equilibria of SO2 sorption in Kapton polyimide film have been studied at temperatures from 25 to 55°C and equilibrium sorption pressures up to 0.76 atm. The data are described well by the dual-mode model of sorption and transport in glassy polymers. The assumption of “partial immobilization” is required to correlate the transport data: the mobility of the Langmuir component of the sorbed population relative to the Henry's-law component is close to zero at 25°C, and increases to roughly 5% of the Henry's-law component mobility at 55°C. The heat of sorption is anomalously low, suggesting the presence of residual solvent in the film, a suggestion confirmed by annealing studies. However, the study also shows that partial removal of the residual has a relatively minor effect on the measured SO2 sorption level and transport rates at 55°C.  相似文献

    High resolution 13C-NMR spectra of nylon 6 samples crystallized under various conditions and of a drawn sample were measured at room temperature by the cross polarization/magic angle spinning (CP/MAS) and pulse saturation transfer/magic angle spinning techniques. Additionally, 13C-NMR spectra of the drawn sample were measured at temperatures from 20 to 100°C by the CP/MAS technique and at 20 and 100°C by the low-power decoupling/magic angle spinning technique. The nylon 6 structure in the solid-state is discussed on the basis of these results. The solid-state 13C chemical shift data are used for reference in a study of conformation in solution.  相似文献

    Free‐volume properties, size and distribution, in amorphous polystyrene exposed to CO2 gases have been measured as a function of pressure to 800 psi (5.5 MPa), of time, and of temperature using positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy. The free volume increases significantly and its distribution broadens as a function of pressure. The free volume relaxes as a function of time with a characteristic time of 15 h, and 5.7 h for 400, and 800 psi, respectively, after depressurizing under vacuum. A portion of free volume created by CO2 exposure remains permanently in the polymer after CO2 exposure. The glass transition temperature decreases significantly as a function of CO2 pressure from the free‐volume data and is compared with the differential scanning calorimeter results. The observed free‐volume variations as a function of pressure, time, and temperature are discussed in terms of hole expansion, creation, free‐volume relaxation, plasticization, and hole filling in amorphous polymers. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.     High-resolution 19F solid-state NMR spectroscopy was employed to study the sorption properties of hexafluorobenzene (HFB) and 3,5-bis (trifluoromethyl) aniline (TFMA) in polystyrene (PS) and butyl rubber (BR). The NMR spectra indicate that the penetrants undergo dual-mode sorption in the glassy polymer (PS), but are highly mobile in the rubbery polymer (BR). In addition, the NMR method was utilized in the experimental determination of diffusion coefficients for the HFB/PS, TFMA/PS, and HFB/BR systems through desorption studies. The diffusion results for the TFMA/PS case agree very well with those previously obtained via resonance nuclear reaction analysis. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

    Solid-state 1H wide-line and 31P magic angle spinning NMR were applied to a series of PEI(polyethylenimine)/DNA complexes. The experimental results revealed that the higher the nitrogen/phosphorus (N/P) molar ratio is, the more phosphorus atoms of DNA are engaged in the electrostatic interaction with PEI. 1H spin–diffusion experiments manifested that the aggregation degree of DNA in the complexes decreases greatly when N/P ratio increases from 0.5 to 3 and changes only slightly with further increase of N/P ratio, indicating that DNA disperses in the matrix of PEI on the molecular level at higher N/P ratio.  相似文献

    The effect of TBP as well as the organic diluents on the polarographic wave of U(VI) reduction has been investigated in sulphuric and perchloric acids. It was found that the presence of TBP traces in the solution to be analyzed induced another wave which was more prominent in sulphuric acid solutions. This can be eliminated by boiling the solutions for about 5 min before their analysis for uranium. The effect of supporting electrolyte on the polarographic reduction of U(VI) was also studied and the use of 6N HClO4 was recommended.  相似文献

    The present work focuses on the topochemical photoconversion process in which alpha-trans-cinnamic acid becomes alpha-truxillic acid. This solid-state [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction has previously been studied with X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, and vibrational spectroscopy. However structural and kinetic details about the reaction are still debated. We present results from (13)C cross-polarization magic angle spinning solid-state NMR experiments that suggest that the Johnson, Mehl, Avrami, and Kolmogorov model of phase transformation kinetics can be applied to this system. The model elucidates parameters of the reaction, such as the nucleation rate, diffusion rate, and dimensionality of the reaction. From our data, it is concluded that this reaction follows one-dimensional growth with a decreasing nucleation rate.  相似文献

    Complexes of poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with different PEO molecular weight were studied by solid-state high-resolution 13C NMR spectroscopy, with the emphasis on the PEO molecular weight effect on inter-polymer interaction, morphology and molecular motion. It is found that the crystalline phase of PEO is completely destroyed in the complex. The results of 1H transverse relaxation times and 13C spin-lattice relaxation times indicate that the chain mobility of both PEO and PMAA are greatly restricted by inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding interactions, especially when the molecular weight of PEO is 1500. The bulk structures of the complexes are found to be closely dependent on the molecular weight of PEO. The fraction of “free” PEO segments without forming hydrogen-bonds with PMAA increases with increasing PEO molecular weight.  相似文献

    The present paper describes the application of a solid phase extraction system in order to separate traces of calcium from glass and ceramics for its spectrophotometric determination. The method is based on the extraction of calcium from sodium hydroxide solution by tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) loaded polyurethane foam (PUF), followed by its elution in hydrochloric acid. The spectrophotometric measurement of the absorbance of calcium complex with calconcarboxylic acid (2-hydroxy-1-(2-hydroxy-4-sulfo-1-naphthylazo)-3-naphthoic acid) takes place at pH 12. The following parameters were studied: effects of sodium hydroxide concentration and temperature on the extraction of calcium, time of equilibration for quantitative calcium extraction, effect of TBP concentration, effect of hydrochloric acid concentration for quantitative elution of calcium from PUF, effect of pH and concentration of calconcarboxylic acid for quantitative formation of the complex with calcium, effect of acetone on the stability of calcium-calconcarboxylic acid complex and influence of diverse ions on calcium sorption by TBP-loaded PUF. The results show that calcium traces can be separated onto TBP-loaded PUF from 0.25 mol L(-1) NaOH at 30 +/- 5 degrees C within 30 min. PUF was loaded with TBP in CCl4 (40% v/v). Elution of calcium was done in 1.0 mol l(-1) HCl. The calcium formed a complex with calconcarboxylic acid at pH 12 and absorbance was measured at 560 nm in acetone-water medium. Molar absorptivity was found to be 1.082 x 10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1). The method obeys Beer's law from 0.10 to 5.0 microg ml(-1) Ca. The validity of the method was established by its successful application in NIST standard reference materials. The method proposed was applied to determine calcium in glass and ceramic materials. The results of the proposed method are comparable with the results of ICP-AES analysis and they are found to be in good agreement.  相似文献
