The Schiff base ligand, pyrral-l-histidinate(L) and its Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, mass, molar conductance, IR, electronic, magnetic measurements, EPR, redox properties, thermal studies, XRD and SEM. Conductance measurements indicate that the above complexes are 1:1 electrolytes. IR data show that the ligand is tridentate and the binding sites are azomethine nitrogen, imidazole nitrogen and carboxylato oxygen atoms. Electronic spectral and magnetic measurements indicate tetrahedral geometry for Co(II) and octahedral geometry for Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes, respectively. The observed anisotropic g values indicate the presence of Cu(II) in a tetragonally distorted octahedral environment. The redox properties of the ligand and its complexes have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry. Thermal decomposition profiles are consistent with the proposed formulations. The powder XRD and SEM studies show that all the complexes are nanocrystalline. The in vitro biological screening effects of the synthesized compounds were tested against the bacterial species, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus; fungal species, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Candida albicans by the disc diffusion method. The results indicate that complexes exhibit more activity than the ligand. The nuclease activity of the ligand and its complexes were assayed on CT DNA using gel electrophoresis in the presence and absence of H2O2. 相似文献

Chiral Schiff base complexes containing azo-groups, bis(N-R-1-naphtylethyl-4-phenyldiazenylsalicydenaminato) nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) complexes affording a distorted square planar trans-[MN2O2] coordination geometry were prepared newly. Organic/inorganic hybrid materials in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cast films of them (a containing type) or the analogous chiral Schiff base complexes, bis(N-R-1-phenylethyl-3,5-dichlorosalicydenaminato) nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II), and azobenzene (AZ) (a separated type) were assembled for comparison of polarized UV light induced molecular arrangement caused by Weigert effect. Investigation of parameters for optical anisotropy of metal complexes as well as AZ suggested that the degree of increasing optical anisotropy of the containing type is higher than that of the separated type based on π-π∗ (of which characteristic band appeared around 380 nm), n-π∗, and d-d bands of polarized absorption electronic spectra. Rigid nickel(II) or zinc(II) complexes are easy to increase optical anisotropy than flexible copper(II) complexes for both types. 相似文献

A new Schiff base, {1-[(2-hydroxy-naphthalen-1-ylmethylene)-amino]-4-phenyl-2-thioxo-1, 2-dihydro-pyrimidin-5-yl}-phenyl-methanone, has been synthesized from N-amino pyrimidine-2-thione and 2-hydroxynaphthaldehyde. Metal complexes of the Schiff base were prepared from acetate/chloride salts of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) in methanol. The chemical structures of the Schiff-base ligand and its metal complexes were confirmed by elemental analyses, IR, 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, API-ES, UV-Visible spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and thermogravimetric analyses. The electronic spectral data and magnetic moment measurements suggest mononuclear octahedral and mononuclear or binuclear square planar structures for the metal complexes. In light of these results, it was suggested that this ligand coordinates to each metal atom by hydroxyl oxygen, azomethine nitrogen, and thione sulfur to form octahedral complexes with Cd(II) and Zn(II). 相似文献

In this study, 1,2-dihydroxyimino-3,7-di-aza-9,10-O-α-methyl benzal decane (LH2) was synthesized starting from 1,2-O-α-methyl benzal-4-aza-7-amino heptane (RNH2) and antichloroglyoxime. With this ligand, complexes were synthesized using Ni(II) and Cu(II) salts with a metal:ligand ratio of 1:2. However, the reaction of the ligand with salts of Zn(II) and Cd(II) gave products with metal:ligand ratio of 1:1. Structures of the ligand and its complexes are proposed based on elemental analyses, IR, 13C- and 1H-NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). 相似文献

Reaction of Cu(II) nitrate with a new pyrazole-based Schiff base ligand, 5-methyl-3-formylpyrazole-N-(2′-methylphenoxy)methyleneimine (MPzOA), afforded two types of Cu(II) complexes at different reaction temperatures, [Cu(MPzOA)(NO3)]2 (1) and [Cu(3,7,11,15-tetramethylporphyrin)(H2O)](NO3)2 (2), reported together with a Ni(II) complex, [Ni(MPzOA)2(H2O)2]Br2 (3). The compounds are characterized by single crystal X-ray structure analyses along with several physico-chemical and spectral parameters. Complex 1 is authenticated as a bis(μ-pyrazolato)dicopper(II), while 2 is a porphyrinogen and 3 is a distorted octahedral complex. Structural analyses of the complexes reveal that 1 crystallized in monoclinic P21/n space group while 2 and 3 crystallized in monoclinic C2/c space group. DNA-binding studies of the complexes have shown that the complexes interact with CT-DNA. DNA-cleavage studies with plasmid DNA have shown that 1 and 2 induce extensive DNA cleavage in the presence of H2O2 as an additive, whereas there is no change in degradation of super-coiled DNA by 3 in the presence of additive. The antimicrobial studies of the complexes against Escherichia coli DH5α bacteria strain indicated that all the complexes were capable of killing E. coli with different LD50 values. 相似文献

Chiral Schiff base complexes containing azo-groups, bis(N-R-1-cyclohexylethyl-4-phenyldiazenylsalicydenaminato) nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes, and without azo-groups, bis(N-R-1-cyclohexylethyl-3,5-dichlorosalicydenaminato) nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes, affording a distorted square planar trans-[MN2O2] coordination geometry were prepared. Organic/inorganic hybrid materials in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) spincoat films of the complexes (both the azobenzene (AZ) containing type and the latter complexes of the AZ separated type) were assembled for a comparison of polarized UV light induced molecular arrangement caused by the Weigert effect. Investigation of the parameters for the optical anisotropy of the metal complexes as well as AZ suggested that the degree of increasing optical anisotropy of the containing type was higher than that of the separated type based on π-π∗ (of which a characteristic band appeared around 380 nm) and n-π∗ bands of polarized absorption electronic spectra. In the AZ containing type, the rigid nickel(II) or zinc(II) complexes easily increase the optical anisotropy compared to the flexible copper(II) complexes. In the AZ separated type, interestingly, enhancement of some CD bands suggests the role of chiral dopants of some complexes without azo-groups for AZ. 相似文献

Three new mononuclear complexes of copper(II), viz. [Cu(L)(N3)Cl] (1), [Cu(L′)(H2O)]ClO4 (2) and [Cu(L″)] (3) where L = N-(3-aminopropyl)-N-methylpropane-1,3-diamine, L′ = 2-(N-{3-[(3-aminopropyl)(methyl)amino]propyl}ethanimidoyl)phenolate ion and L″ = 2,2′-{(methylimino)bis[propane-3,1-diylnitrilo(1E)eth-1-yl-1-ylidene]}diphenolate ion, have been prepared. The synthesis of complex 1 has been achieved by reacting copper chloride with the triamine (L) and sodium azide in a 1:1:1 M ratio. The other two compounds have been synthesized by the reaction of copper perchlorate with the same triamine, L, plus 2-hydroxyacetophenone in a molar ratio of 1:1:1 (for 2) and 1:1:2 (for 3), so that the respective tetradentate and pentadentate Schiff bases HL′ and H2L″ are formed in situ to bind the copper(II) ions. The complexes have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Structural studies reveal that the mononuclear units of all the three complexes adopt a distorted square pyramidal geometry and are held together by either intermolecular H-bonding (in 1 and 2) or C-H?π interactions (in 3) to form supramolecular networks in the solid state. 相似文献

Some new metal(II) complexes, ML2[M = Co, Ni, Cu and Zn], of 2-acetylthiophene benzoylhydrazone ligand (HL) containing a trifunctional SNO-donor system have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of physicochemical data by elemental analysis, magnetic moment, molar conductance, thermogravimetric and spectroscopic (electronic, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR) data. The ligand functions as monobasic SNO tridentates where the deprotonated enolic form is preferred in the coordination producing distorted octahedral complexes. 相似文献

Four new mononuclear complexes, [Ni(L1)(NCS)2] (1), [Ni(L2)(NCS)2] (2), [Co(L1)(N3)2]ClO4 (3), and [Co(L2)(N3)2]ClO4 (4), where L1 and L2 are N,N′-bis[(pyridin-2-yl)methylidene]butane-1,4-diamine and N,N′-bis[(pyridin-2-yl)benzylidene]butane-1,4-diamine, respectively, have been prepared. The syntheses have been achieved by reaction of the respective metal perchlorate with the tetradentate Schiff bases, L1 and L2, in presence of thiocyanate (for 1 and 2) or azide (for 3 and 4). The complexes have been characterized by microanalytical, spectroscopic, single crystal X-ray diffraction and other physicochemical studies. Structural studies reveal that 1–4 are distorted octahedral geometries. The antibacterial activity of all the complexes and their constituent Schiff bases have been tested against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. 相似文献

New Schiff bases, N,N′-bis(salicylidene)-4-aminobenzylamine (H2L1), N,N′-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)-4-aminobenzylamine (H2L2), and N,N′-bis(4-hydroxysalicylidene)-4-aminobenzylamine (H2L3), with their nickel(II), cobalt(II), and copper(II) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, electronic absorption, FT-IR, magnetic susceptibility, and conductance measurements. For the ligands, 1H and 13C NMR and mass spectra were obtained. The tetradentate ligands coordinate to the metal ions through the phenolic oxygen and azomethine nitrogens. The keto-enol tautomeric forms of the Schiff bases H2L1, H2L2, and H2L3 have been investigated in polar and apolar solvents. All compounds were non-electrolytes in DMSO (~10?3 M) according to the conductance measurements. Antimicrobial activities of the Schiff bases and their complexes have been tested against Acinobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Micrococcus luteus, Bacillus megaterium, Corynebacterium xerosis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Rhodotorula rubra, and Kluyveromyces marxianus by the disc diffusion method; biological activity increases on complexation. 相似文献

Two macrocyclic Schiff base ligands, L1 [1+1] and L2 [2+2], have been obtained in a one-pot cyclocondensation of 1,4-bis(2-formylphenyl)piperazine and 1,3-diaminopropane. Unfortunately, because of the low solubility of both ligands, their separation was unsuccessful. In the direct reaction of these mixed ligands (L1 and L2) and the appropriate metal ions only [CoL1(NO3)]ClO4, [NiL1](ClO4)2, [CuL1](ClO4)2 and [ZnL1(NO3)]ClO4 complexes have been isolated. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, FAB-MS, conductivity measurements and in the case of the [ZnL1(NO3)]ClO4 complex with NMR spectroscopy. 相似文献

Schiff-base copper(II) complexes were prepared using macrocyclic ligands, synthesized by condensation of diethylmalonate with Schiff bases derived from o-phenylenediamine and Knoevenagel condensed β-ketoanilides (obtained by the condensation of acetoacetanilide and substituted benzaldehydes). The ligands and their copper complexes were characterized by microanalytical, mass, UV–Vis, IR, 1H-NMR, ESR and CV studies, as well as conductivity data. Microanalytical, mass and magnetic moment analyses are consistent with formation of monomeric [CuL]Cl2. Spectral studies indicate square-planar geometry around copper. The smaller grain sizes found from XRD data suggest that these complexes are polycrystalline with nanosized grains. The SEM images of [CuL1]Cl2 have leaf-like morphology. The in vitro biological screening of the investigated compounds against the bacteria Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus and fungi Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Rhizoctonia bataicola and Candida albicans were tested by the well diffusion method to assess growth inhibition. A comparative study of MIC values of the Schiff-base ligands and their complexes indicate that the complexes exhibit higher antimicrobial activity than the free ligands. 相似文献

Neutral complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) have been synthesized from the Schiff bases derived from 3-nitrobenzylidene-4-aminoantipyrine and aniline (L1)/p-nitro aniline (L2)/p-methoxy aniline (L3) in the molar ratio 1 : 1. The structural features have been determined from microanalytical, IR, UV-Vis, 1H-NMR, mass, and ESR spectral data. The Cu(II) complexes are square planar, while Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes are tetrahedral. Magnetic susceptibility measurements and molar conductance data provide evidence for the monomeric and neutral nature of the complexes. The X-band ESR spectrum of Cu(II) complexes at 300 and 77 K were recorded. The electrochemical behavior of the complexes in MeCN at 298 K was studied. The in vitro biological screening effects of the investigated compounds were tested against the bacterial species Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungal species Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Rhizoctonia bataicola, and Candida albicans by the well-diffusion method. Comparison of the inhibition values of the Schiff bases and their complexes indicate that the complexes exhibit higher antimicrobial activity. 相似文献

A series of complexes of the type M(Phca2en)X2, where Phca2en=N,N′-bis(β-phenyl-cinnamaldehyde)-1,2-diiminoethane, M(II)=Co, Ni or Zn and X=Cl, Br, I or NCS have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal and molecular structures of Co(Phca2en)Cl2 (2), Ni(Phca2en)Br2 (5) and Zn(Phca2en)Cl2 (6) were determined by X-ray crystallography from single-crystal data. Complexes 2 and 5 are isomorph and isostructure, in which the coordination polyhedron about the central metal ion is distorted tetrahedron with Cl---Co---Cl, 110.17(6)°; N---Co---N, 84.16(13)° and Cl---Zn---Cl, 112.02(6)°; N---Zn---N, 83.45(16)°. The complex 5 crystallizes in triclinic system with two molecules per asymmetric unit, both having nickel ion in distorted tetrahedral geometry, Br---Ni---Br, 122.645(18)° and 125.729(18)°; N---Ni---N, 84.63(9)° and 85.08(9)°. These structures consist of intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type C---HX. The formation of the C---HM weak intramolecular hydrogen bonds due to the trapping of C---H bonds in the vicinity of the metal atoms are reported for 2, 5 and 6. A 1H NMR study of Zn complexes gives further evidence for the presence of such interactions and their significance. The spectral properties of the above complexes are also discussed. 相似文献

The novel mixed ligand complexes [M(bpy)(phen-dione)](PF6)2 (M?=?Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II), bpy?=?2,2′-bipyridine and phen-dione?=?1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR and electronic absorption spectroscopies. The ν(C=O) of coordinated phen-dione in these complexes are very similar to the free phen-dione ligand showing that phen-dione is not coordinated to metal ion from its C=O sites. Absorption spectra of the complexes show two absorption bands for intraligand transitions. These absorption bands show dependence to the dielectric constant of solvent. These complexes exhibit an intensive fluorescence band around 535?nm in DMF when the excitation wavelength is 260?nm at room temperature. The fluorescence intensity of these complexes is larger than that of the free ligand. 相似文献

Cu(II) complexes of three bis(pyrrol-2-yl-methyleneamine) ligands were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, mass spectra, and IR spectra. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that [CuL3]2 is a dinuclear complex with an extremely distorted square-planar geometry. Furthermore, the antioxidant activities of the compounds have been investigated. The electrochemical properties of the Cu(II) complexes have also been studied by cyclic voltammetry. The Cu(II) complexes show similar superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity compared with that of the native Cu, Zn-SOD. 相似文献

New Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes were synthesized with the Schiff base ligand obtained by the condensation of sulfathiazole with salicylaldehyde. Their characterization was performed by elemental analysis, molar conductance, spectroscopic techniques (IR, diffuse reflectance and UV–Vis–NIR), magnetic moments, thermal analysis, and calorimetry (thermogravimetry/derivative thermogravimetry/differential scanning calorimetry), while their morphological and crystal systems were explained on the basis of powder X-ray diffraction results. The IR data indicated that the Schiff base ligand is tridentate coordinated to the metallic ion with two N atoms from azomethine group and thiazole ring and one O atom from phenolic group. The composition of the complexes was found to be of the [ML2]∙nH2O (M = Co, n = 1.5 (1); M = Ni, n = 1 (2); M = Cu, n = 4.5 (3)) type, having an octahedral geometry for the Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and a tetragonally distorted octahedral geometry for the Cu(II) complex. The presence of lattice water molecules was confirmed by thermal analysis. XRD analysis evidenced the polycrystalline nature of the powders, with a monoclinic structure. The unit cell volume of the complexes was found to increase in the order of (2) < (1) < (3). SEM evidenced hard agglomerates with micrometric-range sizes for all the investigated samples (ligand and complexes). EDS analysis showed that the N:S and N:M atomic ratios were close to the theoretical ones (1.5 and 6.0, respectively). The geometric and electronic structures of the Schiff base ligand 4-((2-hydroxybenzylidene) amino)-N-(thiazol-2-yl) benzenesulfonamide (HL) was computationally investigated by the density functional theory (DFT) method. The predictive molecular properties of the chemical reactivity of the HL and Cu(II) complex were determined by a DFT calculation. The Schiff base and its metal complexes were tested against some bacterial strains (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis). The results indicated that the antibacterial activity of all metal complexes is better than that of the Schiff base. 相似文献

A new bis-imine Schiff base (N8O2 donor, LH2) has been synthesized by melt condensation of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole with 1,5-bis(2′-formylphenyl)-1,5-dioksapentane in 2 : 1 molar ratio, in solvent and solvent-free conditions. The ligand has been characterized using FTIR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectra, elemental analysis, and thermal (TGA-DSC) techniques. A new complex of LH2 with Cu(II) has been synthesized in solvent and solvent-free conditions. FTIR, UV–Vis mass spectra, and thermal analysis (TGA-DSC) have been used to characterize the Cu(II) complex. Thermal degradation showed that the final products were black carbon and metallic copper. Distorted octahedral geometry has been observed around CuLH2Cl2 · LH2 and its Cu(II) complex have been screened for in vitro antifungal and antioxidant activities. Antioxidation was determined for their superoxide scavenging and reducing activities. The ligand and its Cu(II) complex have strong antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger. The compounds have significant superoxide anion radical scavenging activity and reducing power against various antioxidant systems in vitro. 相似文献
