We introduce polynomials B n i (x;ω|q), depending on two parameters q and ω, which generalize classical Bernstein polynomials, discrete Bernstein polynomials defined by Sablonnière, as well as q-Bernstein polynomials introduced by Phillips. Basic properties of the new polynomials are given. Also, formulas relating B n i (x;ω|q), big q-Jacobi and q-Hahn (or dual q-Hahn) polynomials are presented. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Let {pk(x; q)} be any system of the q-classical orthogonal polynomials, and let be the corresponding weight function, satisfying the q-difference equation Dq(σ)=τ, where σ and τ are polynomials of degree at most 2 and exactly 1, respectively. Further, let {pk(1)(x;q)} be associated polynomials of the polynomials {pk(x; q)}. Explicit forms of the coefficients bn,k and cn,k in the expansions
are given in terms of basic hypergeometric functions. Here k(x) equals xk if σ+(0)=0, or (x;q)k if σ+(1)=0, where σ+(x)σ(x)+(q−1)xτ(x). The most important representatives of those two classes are the families of little q-Jacobi and big q-Jacobi polynomials, respectively.Writing the second-order nonhomogeneous q-difference equation satisfied by pn−1(1)(x;q) in a special form, recurrence relations (in k) for bn,k and cn,k are obtained in terms of σ and τ.  相似文献

Let Bn( f,q;x), n=1,2,… be q-Bernstein polynomials of a function f : [0,1]→C. The polynomials Bn( f,1;x) are classical Bernstein polynomials. For q≠1 the properties of q-Bernstein polynomials differ essentially from those in the classical case. This paper deals with approximating properties of q-Bernstein polynomials in the case q>1 with respect to both n and q. Some estimates on the rate of convergence are given. In particular, it is proved that for a function f analytic in {z: |z|<q+} the rate of convergence of {Bn( f,q;x)} to f(x) in the norm of C[0,1] has the order qn (versus 1/n for the classical Bernstein polynomials). Also iterates of q-Bernstein polynomials {Bnjn( f,q;x)}, where both n→∞ and jn→∞, are studied. It is shown that for q(0,1) the asymptotic behavior of such iterates is quite different from the classical case. In particular, the limit does not depend on the rate of jn→∞.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the concept of (1, 1)-q-coherent pair of linear functionals (U,V)(\mathcal{U},\mathcal{V}) as the q-analogue to the generalized coherent pair studied by Delgado and Marcellán in (Methods Appl Anal 11(2):273–266, 2004). This means that their corresponding sequences of monic orthogonal polynomials {P n (x)} n ≥ 0 and {R n (x)} n ≥ 0 satisfy

Recently, q-Bernstein polynomials have been intensively investigated by a number of authors. Their results show that for q ≠ 1, q-Bernstein polynomials possess of many interesting properties. In this paper, the convergence rate for iterates of both q-Bernstein polynomials and their Boolean sum are estimated. Moreover, the saturation of {Bn(., qn)} when n → ∞ and convergence rate of Bn(f,q;x) when f ∈ C^n-1 [0, 1], q → ∞ are also presented.  相似文献

The present paper gives a converse result by showing that there exists a functionfC [−1,1], which satisfies that sgn(x)f(x) ≥ 0 forx ∈ [−1, 1], such that {fx75-1} whereE n (0) (f, 1) is the best approximation of degreen tof by polynomials which are copositive with it, that is, polynomialsP withP(x(f(x) ≥ 0 for allx ∈ [−1, 1],E n(f) is the ordinary best polynomial approximation off of degreen.  相似文献

Let be compact with #S=∞ and let C(S) be the set of all real continuous functions on S. We ask for an algebraic polynomial sequence (Pn)n=0 with deg Pn=n such that every fC(S) has a unique representation f=∑i=0 αiPi and call such a basis Faber basis. In the special case of , 0<q<1, we prove the existence of such a basis. A special orthonormal Faber basis is given by the so-called little q-Legendre polynomials. Moreover, these polynomials state an example with A(Sq)≠U(Sq)=C(Sq), where A(Sq) is the so-called Wiener algebra and U(Sq) is the set of all fC(Sq) which are uniquely represented by its Fourier series.  相似文献

Fix integers n, x, k such that n≥3, k>0, x≥4, (n, x)≠(3, 4) and k(n+1)<( n n+x ). Here we prove that the order x Veronese embedding ofP n is not weakly (k−1)-defective, i.e. for a general SP n such that #(S) = k+1 the projective space | I 2S (x)| of all degree t hypersurfaces ofP n singular at each point of S has dimension ( n /n+x )−1− k(n+1) (proved by Alexander and Hirschowitz) and a general F∈| I 2S (x)| has an ordinary double point at each PS and Sing (F)=S. Let π and π′ be automorphic irreducible cuspidal representations of GLm(QA) and GLm(QA), respectively. Assume that π and π′ are unitary and at least one of them is self-contragredient. In this article we will give an unconditional proof of an orthogonality for π and π′, weighted by the von Mangoldt function Λ(n) and 1−n/x. We then remove the weighting factor 1−n/x and prove the Selberg orthogonality conjecture for automorphic L-functions L(s,π) and L(s,π′), unconditionally for m≤4 and m′≤4, and under the Hypothesis H of Rudnick and Sarnak [20] in other cases. This proof of Selberg's orthogonality removes such an assumption in the computation of superposition distribution of normalized nontrivial zeros of distinct automorphic L-functions by Liu and Ye [12].  相似文献

This is a continuation of our previous work. We classify all the simple ℋq(D n )-modules via an automorphismh defined on the set { λ | Dλ ≠ 0}. Whenf n(q) ≠ 0, this yields a classification of all the simple ℋ q (D n)- modules for arbitrary n. In general ( i. e., q arbitrary), if λ(1) = λ(2),wegivea necessary and sufficient condition ( in terms of some polynomials ) to ensure that the irreducible ℋq,1(B n )- module Dλ remains irreducible on restriction to ℋq(D n ).  相似文献

Let f ε Cn+1[−1, 1] and let H[f](x) be the nth degree weighted least squares polynomial approximation to f with respect to the orthonormal polynomials qk associated with a distribution dα on [−1, 1]. It is shown that if qn+1/qn max(qn+1(1)/qn(1), −qn+1(−1)/qn(−1)), then fH[f] fn + 1 · qn+1/qn + 1(n + 1), where · denotes the supremum norm. Furthermore, it is shown that in the case of Jacobi polynomials with distribution (1 − t)α (1 + t)β dt, α, β > −1, the condition on qn+1/qn is satisfied when either max(α,β) −1/2 or −1 < α = β < −1/2.  相似文献

Let φ be a power series with positive Taylor coefficients {a k } k=0 and non-zero radius of convergence r ≤ ∞. Let ξ x , 0 ≤ x < r be a random variable whose values α k , k = 0, 1, …, are independent of x and taken with probabilities a k x k /φ(x), k = 0, 1, …. The positive linear operator (A φ f)(x):= E[f(ξ x )] is studied. It is proved that if E(ξ x ) = x, E(ξ x 2) = qx 2 + bx + c, q, b, cR, q > 0, then A φ reduces to the Szász-Mirakyan operator in the case q = 1, to the limit q-Bernstein operator in the case 0 < q < 1, and to a modification of the Lupaş operator in the case q > 1.  相似文献

A special case of the big q-Jacobi polynomials Pn(x;a,b,c;q), which corresponds to a=b=−c, is shown to satisfy a discrete orthogonality relation for imaginary values of the parameter a (outside of its commonly known domain 0<a<q−1). Since Pn(x;qα,qα,−qα;q) tend to Gegenbauer (or ultraspherical) polynomials in the limit as q→1, this family represents another q-extension of these classical polynomials, different from the continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials of Rogers. For a dual family with respect to the polynomials Pn(x;a,a,−a;q) (i.e., for dual discrete q-ultraspherical polynomials) we also find new orthogonality relations with extremal measures.  相似文献

This paper considers the existence and large time behavior of solutions to the convection-diffusion equation u t −Δu+b(x)·∇(u|u| q −1)=f(x, t) in ℝ n ×[0,∞), where f(x, t) is slowly decaying and q≥1+1/n (or in some particular cases q≥1). The initial condition u 0 is supposed to be in an appropriate L p space. Uniform and nonuniform decay of the solutions will be established depending on the data and the forcing term.This work is partially supported by an AMO Grant  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the following theorem: Let p be a prime number, P a Sylow psubgroup of a group G and π = π(G) / {p}. If P is seminormal in G, then the following statements hold: 1) G is a p-soluble group and P' ≤ Op(G); 2) lp(G) ≤ 2 and lπ(G) ≤ 2; 3) if a π-Hall subgroup of G is q-supersoluble for some q ∈ π, then G is q-supersoluble.  相似文献

Let wλ(x)(1−x2)λ−1/2 and Pn(λ) be the ultraspherical polynomials with respect to wλ(x). Then we denote En+1(λ) the Stieltjes polynomials with respect to wλ(x) satisfyingIn this paper, we give estimates for the first and second derivatives of the Stieltjes polynomials En+1(λ) and the product En+1(λ)Pn(λ) by obtaining the asymptotic differential relations. Moreover, using these differential relations we estimate the second derivatives of En+1(λ)(x) and En+1(λ)(x)Pn(λ)(x) at the zeros of En+1(λ)(x) and the product En+1(λ)(x)Pn(λ)(x), respectively.  相似文献

In a letter dated March 3, 1971, L. Carlitz defined a sequence of polynomials, Φ n (a,b; x, y; z), generalizing the Al-Salam & Carlitz polynomials, but closely related thereto. He concluded the letter by stating: “It would be of interest to find properties of Φ n (a, b; x, y; z) when all the parameters are free.” In this paper, we reproduce the Carlitz letter and show how a study of Carlitz’s polynomials leads to a clearer understanding of the general 3Φ2 (a, b, c; d; e; q, z).
