Let ? be a zero-product preserving bijective bounded linear map from a unital algebra A onto a unital algebra B such that ?(1)=k. We show that if A is a CSL algebra on a Hilbert space or a J-lattice algebra on a Banach space then there exists an isomorphism ψ from A onto B such that ?=kψ. For a nest algebra A in a factor von Neumann algebra, we characterize the linear maps on A such that δ(x)y+xδ(y)=0 for all x,yA with xy=0.  相似文献

On derivable mappings   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A linear mapping δ from an algebra A into an A-bimodule M is called derivable at cA if δ(a)b+aδ(b)=δ(c) for all a,bA with ab=c. For a norm-closed unital subalgebra A of operators on a Banach space X, we show that if CA has a right inverse in B(X) and the linear span of the range of rank-one operators in A is dense in X then the only derivable mappings at C from A into B(X) are derivations; in particular the result holds for all completely distributive subspace lattice algebras, J-subspace lattice algebras, and norm-closed unital standard algebras of B(X). As an application, every Jordan derivation from such an algebra into B(X) is a derivation. For a large class of reflexive algebras A on a Banach space X, we show that inner derivations from A into B(X) can be characterized by boundedness and derivability at any fixed CA, provided C has a right inverse in B(X). We also show that if A is a canonical subalgebra of an AF C-algebra B and M is a unital Banach A-bimodule, then every bounded local derivation from A into M is a derivation; moreover, every bounded linear mapping from A into B that is derivable at the unit I is a derivation.  相似文献

We show that the set of all inner derivations of an ultraprime real Banach algebra is closed within all bounded derivations. More concretely, we show that for such an algebra A there exists a positive number γ (depending only on the “constant of ultraprimeness” of A) satisfying γa+Z(A) ∥≦∥ D a ∥ for all a in A, where Z(A) denotes the centre of A and D a denotes the inner derivation on A induced by a. This result is an extension of the corresponding complex version obtained by the authors in [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., to appear]. The proof relies on the following theorem: ultraproducts of a family of central ultraprime real Banach algebras with a unit and with constant of ultraprimeness greater than or equal to a fixed positive constant K are central ultraprime Banach algebras with a unit. This fact is obained via a general result for real Banach algebras that reads as follows: If A is a central real Banach algebra with a unit 1, then for every a in A satisfying ∥ 1+a 2 ∥<1 we have [1+√1?||1+1a 2||]2≦2(|?l+M a ||+||D a ||) where M a denotes the two-sided multiplication operator by a on A.  相似文献

By analogy with the join in topology, the join A*B for operator algebras A and B acting on Hilbert spaces H and K, respectively, was defined by Gilfeather and Smith (Amer. J. Math. 116 (1994) 541-561). Assuming that K is finite dimensional, they calculated the Hochschild cohomology groups for A*B with coefficients in L(KH). We assume that A is a maximal abelian von Neumann algebra acting on H, A is a subalgebra of , and B is an ultraweakly closed subalgebra of Mn(A) containing A⊗1n. We show that B may be decomposed into a finite sum of free modules. In this context, we redefine the join of A and B, generalize the calculations of Gilfeather and Smith, and calculate , for all m?0.  相似文献

We prove that an isometry T between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital Banach algebras A and B is extended to a real-linear isometry up to translation between these Banach algebras. While a unital isometry between unital semisimple commutative Banach algebras need not be multiplicative, we prove in this paper that if A is commutative and A or B are semisimple, then (T(eA))−1T is extended to an isometric real algebra isomorphism from A onto B. In particular, A−1 is isometric as a metric space to B−1 if and only if they are isometrically isomorphic to each other as metrizable groups if and only if A is isometrically isomorphic to B as a real Banach algebra; it is compared by the example of ?elazko concerning on non-isomorphic Banach algebras with the homeomorphically isomorphic invertible groups. Isometries between open subgroups of the invertible groups of unital closed standard operator algebras on Banach spaces are investigated and their general forms are given.  相似文献

Let C be a Banach space, H a Hilbert space, and let F(C,H) be the space of C functions f: C × HR having Fredholm second derivative with respect to x at each (c, x) ?C × H for which D?c(x) = 0; here we write ?c(x) for ?(c, x). Say ? is of standard type if at all critical points of ?c it is locally equivalent (as an unfolding) to a quadratic form Q plus an elementary catastrophe on the kernel of Q. It is proved that if f?F (A × B, H) satisfies a certain ‘general position’ condition, and dim B ? 5, then for most a?A the function fo?F(B,H) is of standard type. Using this it is shown that those f?F(B,H) of standard type form an open dense set in F(B,H) with the Whitney topology. Thus both results are Hilbert-space versions of Thom's theorem for catastrophes in Rn.  相似文献

In this paper a Cohen factorization theorem x = at · xt (t > 0) is proved for a Banach algebra A with a bounded approximate identity, where t ? at is a continuous one-parameter semigroup in A. This theorem is used to show that a separable Banach algebra B has a bounded approximate identity bounded by 1 if and only if there is a homomorphism θ from L1(R+) into B such that ∥ θ ∥ = 1 and θ(L1(R+)). B = B = B · θ(L1(R+)). Another corollary is that a separable Banach algebra with bounded approximate identity has a commutative bounded approximate identity, which is bounded by 1 in an equivalent algebra norm.  相似文献

In this work it is shown that certain interesting types of orthogonal system of subalgebras (whose existence cannot be ruled out by the trivial necessary conditions) cannot exist. In particular, it is proved that there is no orthogonal decomposition of Mn(C)⊗Mn(C)Mn2(C) into a number of maximal abelian subalgebras and factors isomorphic to Mn(C) in which the number of factors would be 1 or 3.In addition, some new tools are introduced, too: for example, a quantity c(A,B), which measures “how close” the subalgebras A,BMn(C) are to being orthogonal. It is shown that in the main cases of interest, c(A,B) - where A and B are the commutants of A and B, respectively - can be determined by c(A,B) and the dimensions of A and B. The corresponding formula is used to find some further obstructions regarding orthogonal systems.  相似文献

In this paper we study multiplicative perturbations for the generator of a strongly continuous integral resolvent family of bounded linear operators defined on a Banach space X. Assuming that a(t) is a creep function which satisfies a(0+)>0, we prove that if (A,a) generates an integral resolvent, then (A(I+B),a) also generates an integral resolvent for all BB(X,Z), where Z belongs to a class of admissible Banach spaces. In special instances of a(t) the space Z is proved to be characterized by an extended class of Favard spaces.  相似文献

Let T be a continuous linear operator on a Banach algebra A. We address the question of whether the constant ${{\rm sup}\{||aT(b)c||: a, b, c \in A, \, ab = bc = 0, ||a|| = ||b|| = ||c||=1\}}Let T be a continuous linear operator on a Banach algebra A. We address the question of whether the constant sup{||aT(b)c||: a, b, c ? A,  ab = bc = 0, ||a|| = ||b|| = ||c||=1}{{\rm sup}\{||aT(b)c||: a, b, c \in A, \, ab = bc = 0, ||a|| = ||b|| = ||c||=1\}} being small implies that the distance from T to the space Der(A) of all continuous derivations on A is small. We show that this is the case for amenable group algebras. As a consequence, we deduce that Der(L 1(G)) is hyperreflexive for each amenable group in [SIN].  相似文献

Let H be a Hopf algebra, B a bialgebra, and (B, ?, ρ) a right H-Hopf module. Assume that (B, ρ) is a right H-comodule algebra, (B, ?) is a right H-module coalgebra, and let A = B co H = {aB | ρ(a) = a ? 1}. Then we prove that B has a factorization of A ρ ? (the underlying space is A ? H) as a bialgebra, which generalizes Radford’s factorization of bialgebras with projection [12].  相似文献

A completely positive operator valued linear map ϕ on a (not necessarily unital) Banach *-algebra with continuous involution admits minimal Stinespring dilation iff for some scalark > 0, ϕ(x)*ϕ(x) ≤ kϕ(x*x) for allx iff ϕ is hermitian and satisfies Kadison’s Schwarz inequality ϕ(h) 2 ≤ kϕ(h 2) for all hermitianh iff ϕ extends as a completely positive map on the unitizationA e of A. A similar result holds for positive linear maps. These provide operator state analogues of the corresponding well-known results for representable positive functionals. Further, they are used to discuss (a) automatic Stinespring representability in Banach *-algebras, (b) operator valued analogue of Bochner-Weil-Raikov integral representation theorem, (c) operator valued analogue of the classical Bochner theorem in locally compact abelian groupG, and (d) extendability of completely positive maps from *-subalgebras. Evans’ result on Stinespring respresentability in the presence of bounded approximate identity (BAI) is deduced. A number of examples of Banach *-algebras without BAI are discussed to illustrate above results.  相似文献

The paper deals with the multivalued initial value problem xA(t,x)x+F(t,x) for a.a. t∈[a,b], x(a)=x0 in a separable, reflexive Banach space E. The nonlinearity F is weakly upper semicontinuous in x and the investigation includes the case when both A and F have a superlinear growth in x. We prove the existence of local and global classical solutions in the Sobolev space W1,p([a,b],E) with 1<p<∞. Introducing a suitably defined Lyapunov-like function, we are able to investigate the topological structure of the solution set. Our main tool is a continuation principle in Frechét spaces and we prove the required pushing condition in two different ways. Some examples complete the discussion.  相似文献

UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC c (G,A) as a dense *-subalgebra and contained in the crossed productC*-algebraC*(G,A,α) satisfiesE(B) =C*(G,A,α). IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α). WhenG is a Lie group, theC -elementsC (A), the analytic elementsC ω(A) as well as the entire analytic elementsC є(A) carry natural topologies making them algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. Given a non-unitalC*-algebraA, an inductive system of idealsI α is constructed satisfyingA =C*-ind limI α; and the locally convex inductive limit ind limI α is anm-convex algebra with theC*-enveloping algebraA and containing the Pedersen idealK a ofA. Given generatorsG with weakly Banach admissible relationsR, we construct universal topological *-algebraA(G, R) and show that it has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if (G, R) isC*-admissible.  相似文献

Let Φ:AB be an additive surjective map between some operator algebras such that AB+BA=0 implies Φ(A)Φ(B)+Φ(B)Φ(A)=0. We show that, under some mild conditions, Φ is a Jordan homomorphism multiplied by a central element. Such operator algebras include von Neumann algebras, C-algebras and standard operator algebras, etc. Particularly, if H and K are infinite-dimensional (real or complex) Hilbert spaces and A=B(H) and B=B(K), then there exists a nonzero scalar c and an invertible linear or conjugate-linear operator U:HK such that either Φ(A)=cUAU−1 for all AB(H), or Φ(A)=cUAU−1 for all AB(H).  相似文献

We investigate some subtle and interesting phenomena in the duality theory of operator spaces and operator algebras, and give several applications of the surprising fact that certain maps are always weak*-continuous on dual spaces. In particular, if X is a subspace of a C*-algebra A, and if aA satisfies aXX, then we show that the function x?ax on X is automatically weak* continuous if either (a) X is a dual operator space, or (b) a*XX and X is a dual Banach space. These results hinge on a generalization to Banach modules of Tomiyama's famous theorem on contractive projections onto a C*-subalgebra. Applications include a new characterization of the σ-weakly closed (possibly nonunital and nonselfadjoint) operator algebras, and a generalization of the theory of W*-modules to the framework of modules over such algebras. We also give a Banach module characterization of σ-weakly closed spaces of operators which are invariant under the action of a von Neumann algebra.  相似文献

In this paper we present nonintegral criteria for oscillation of linear Hamiltonian matrix system U=A(x)U+B(x)V, V=C(x)UA*(x)V under the hypothesis (H): A(x), B(x)=B*(x)>0, and C(x)=C*(x) are 2×2 matrices of real valued continuous functions on the interval I=[a,∞),(−∞<a). These criteria are conditions of algebraic type only. Our results are also useful for the detection of the oscillation of particular matrix differential systems.  相似文献

Let Au(BG) be the Banach algebra of all complex valued functions defined on the closed unit ball BG of a complex Banach space G which are uniformly continuous on BG and holomorphic in the interior of BG, endowed with the sup norm. A characterization of the boundaries for Au(BG) is given in case G belongs to a class of Banach spaces that includes the pre-dual of a Lorentz sequence space studied by Gowers in Israel J. Math. 69 (1990) 129-151. The non-existence of the Shilov boundary for Au(BG) is also proved.  相似文献
