A predator-prey system with Holling-IV functional response is investigated. It is shown that the system has a positive equilibrium?which is a cusp of co-dimension 2 under certain conditions. When the parameters vary in a small neighborhood of the values of parameters, the model undergoes the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation. Different kinds of bifurcation phenomena are exhibited, which include the saddle~node bifurcation, the Hopf bifurcation and the homo-clinic bifurcation. Some computer simulations are presented to illustrate the conclusions.  相似文献

One of the general SIRS disease transmission model is considered under the assumptions that the size of the population varies, the incidence rate is nonlinear, and the recovered (removed) class may also be directly reinfected. A combination of analytical and numerical techniques is used to show that (for some parameters) the bifurcations of equilibria can occur and also asymptotically orbitally stable periodic solutions with asymptotic phase can arise through Hopf bifurcations. The investigation is based on computer simulation of bifurcation manifolds in the parameter space. Hopf bifurcations are investigated on the base of center manifold theory by the computation of bifurcation parameters and the approximation of Hopf-bifurcating cycles by bifurcation formulas. This method finds the limit cycle to a good approximation and also its stability. For computer simulations the necessary computer oriented algorithms were developed and encoded by C++. Some results of computer simulations are presented and numerical evidence of existence of bifurcations of equilibria and Hopf bifurcations for the considered model is provided.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel computer virus propagation model and study its dynamic behaviors; to our knowledge, this is the first time the effect of anti-virus ability has been taken into account in this way. In this context, we give the threshold for determining whether the virus dies out completely. Then, we study the existence of equilibria, and analyze their local and global asymptotic stability. Next, we find that, depending on the anti-virus ability, a backward bifurcation or a Hopf bifurcation may occur. Finally, we show that under appropriate conditions, bistable states may be around. Numerical results illustrate some typical phenomena that may occur in the virus propagation over computer network.  相似文献

We consider the fate of output in the Cournot oligopoly model when the equilibrium is locally unstable. We discuss types of nonlinearities which may be present to bound the motion and introduce time lags in production and information which serve as bifurcation parameters. We apply the Hopf bifurcation theorem to determine conditions under which limit cycle motion is born, and use computer simulations to investigate the nature of the attractors generated by such models.  相似文献

A novel delayed fractional-order gene regulatory network model is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the sum of delays is chosen as the bifurcation parameter, the conditions of the existence for the Hopf bifurcation are obtained by analyzing the associated characteristic equation. Then, it is the first time that a hybrid controller is designed to control the Hopf bifurcation for the proposed network. It is demonstrated that both fractional order and feedback gain can effectively control the dynamics of such network, the stability domain can be extended under the small fractional order or feedback gain. The controller is enough to delay the onset of the Hopf bifurcation and achieve some desirable dynamical behaviors by changing the appropriate order or feedback gain. Finally, numerical simulations are employed to justify the validity of our theoretical analysis.  相似文献

Two-parameter bifurcations in a network of two neurons with multiple delays   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider a network of two coupled neurons with delayed feedback. We show that the connection topology of the network plays a fundamental role in classifying the rich dynamics and bifurcation phenomena. Regarding eigenvalues of the connection matrix as bifurcation parameters, we obtain codimension 1 bifurcations (including a fold bifurcation and a Hopf bifurcation) and codimension 2 bifurcations (including fold-Hopf bifurcations and Hopf-Hopf bifurcations). We also give concrete formulae for the normal form coefficients derived via the center manifold reduction that give detailed information about the bifurcation and stability of various bifurcated solutions. In particular, we obtain stable or unstable equilibria, periodic solutions, quasi-periodic solutions, and sphere-like surfaces of solutions. We also show how to evaluate critical normal form coefficients from the original system of delay-differential equations without computing the corresponding center manifolds.  相似文献

Firstly, we analyze a codimension-two unfolding for the Hopf-transcritical bifurcation, and give complete bifurcation diagrams and phase portraits. In particular, we express explicitly the heteroclinic bifurcation curve, and obtain conditions under which the secondary bifurcation periodic solutions and the heteroclinic orbit are stable. Secondly, we show how to reduce general retarded functional differential equation, with perturbation parameters near the critical point of the Hopf-transcritical bifurcation, to a 3-dimensional ordinary differential equation which is restricted on the center manifold up to the third order with unfolding parameters, and further reduce it to a 2-dimensional amplitude system, where these unfolding parameters can be expressed by those original perturbation parameters. Finally, we apply the general results to the van der Pol’s equation with delayed feedback, and obtain the existence of stable or unstable equilibria, periodic solutions and quasi-periodic solutions.  相似文献

A simple neural network model with discrete time delay is investigated. The linear stability of this model is discussed by analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation. For the case with inhibitory influence from the past state, it is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when this influence varies and passes through a sequence of critical values. The stability of bifurcating periodic solutions and the direction of Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. Chaotic behavior of a single delayed neuron equation with non-monotonously increasing transfer function has been observed in computer simulation. Some waveform diagrams, phase portraits, power spectra and plots of the largest Lyapunov exponent will also be given.  相似文献

We report on the bifurcation analysis of an extended Hindmarsh–Rose (eHR) neuronal oscillator. We prove that Hopf bifurcation occurs in this system, when an appropriate chosen bifurcation parameter varies and reaches its critical value. Applying the normal form theory, we derive a formula to determine the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of bifurcating periodic flows. To observe this latter bifurcation and to illustrate its theoretical analysis, numerical simulations are performed. Hence, we present an explanation of the discontinuous behavior of the amplitude of the repetitive response as a function of system’s parameters based on the presence of the subcritical unstable oscillations. Furthermore, the bifurcation structures of the system are studied, with special care on the effects of parameters associated with the slow current and the slower dynamical process. We find that the system presents diversity of bifurcations such as period-doubling, symmetry breaking, crises and reverse period-doubling, when the afore mentioned parameters are varied in tiny steps. The complexity of the bifurcation structures seems useful to understand how neurons encode information or how they respond to external stimuli. Furthermore, we find that the extended Hindmarsh–Rose model also presents the multistability of oscillatory and silent regimes for precise sets of its parameters. This phenomenon plays a practical role in short-term memory and appears to give an evolutionary advantage for neurons since they constitute part of multifunctional microcircuits such as central pattern generators.

In this paper, a discrete-time Hopfield neural network with delay is considered. We give some sufficient conditions ensuring the local stability of the equilibrium point for this model. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we demonstrated that Neimark–Sacker bifurcation (or Hopf bifurcation for map) would occur when the delay exceeds a critical value. A formula for determining the direction bifurcation and stability of bifurcation periodic solutions is given by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical results are also provided.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a delayed Michaelis-Menten Type ratio-dependent predator-prey model with prey harvesting. By considering the characteristic equation associated with the nonhyperbolic equilibrium, the critical value of the parameters for the Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation is obtained. The conditions for the characteristic equation having negative real parts are discussed. Using the normal form theory of Bogdanov-Takens bifurcation for retarded functional differential equations, the corresponding normal form restricted to the associated two-dimensional center manifold is calculated and the versal unfolding is considered. The parameter conditions for saddle-node bifurcation, Hopf bifurcation and homoclinic bifurcation are obtained. Numerical simulations are given to support the analytical results.  相似文献

In this paper, a simplified congestion control model is considered to study the quasiperiodic motion induced by heterogenous time delays. Analysis for the stability of the equilibrium shows that the Hopf bifurcation curves with diverse frequencies may intersect at the so-called non-resonant double Hopf bifurcation point. Choosing the delays as the bifurcation parameters and employing the method of multiple scales, the amplitude–frequency equations or normal form equations are obtained theoretically. Based on these equations, the dynamics near the bifurcation point is classified. The values of the delays for which the quasiperiodic motion exists can be predicted with an acceptable accuracy. This result provides a reference in designing and optimizing the network systems.  相似文献

We investigate the behaviour of a neural network model consisting of two coupled oscillators with delays and inhibitory-to-inhibitory connections. We consider the absolute synchronization and show that the connection topology of the network plays a fundamental role in classifying the rich dynamics and bifurcation phenomena. Regarding eigenvalues of the connection matrix as bifurcation parameters, we obtain codimension one bifurcations (including fold bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation) and codimension two bifurcation (including fold-Hopf bifurcations and Hopf–Hopf bifurcations). Based on the normal form theory and center manifold reduction, we obtain detailed information about the bifurcation direction and stability of various bifurcated equilibria as well as periodic solutions with some kinds of spatio-temporal patterns. Numerical simulation is also given to support the obtained results.  相似文献

We revisit Nicholson?s blowflies model with natural death rate incorporated into the delay feedback. We consider the delay as a bifurcation parameter and examine the onset and termination of Hopf bifurcations of periodic solutions from a positive equilibrium. We show that the model has only a finite number of Hopf bifurcation values and we describe how branches of Hopf bifurcations are paired so the existence of periodic solutions with specific oscillation frequencies occurs only in bounded delay intervals. The bifurcation analysis and the Matlab package DDE-BIFTOOL developed by Engelborghs et al. guide some numerical simulations to identify ranges of parameters for coexisting multiple attractive periodic solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, a new mathematical model for the entomopathogenic nematode with the Monod growth rate is formulated. Firstly, continuous release of the entomopathogenic nematode is considered. The existence of limit cycles, the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the periodic solution created by the bifurcation are proved. The sufficient conditions for the globally asymptotical stability of system are obtained. Secondly, impulsive release of the entomopathogenic nematode is also considered. By using the Floquet’s theorem and the small amplitude perturbations, we show that the pest-free periodic solution is locally stable if some conditions are satisfied. In a certain limiting case, it is shown that a nontrivial periodic solution emerges via a supercritical bifurcation. Finally, our findings are confirmed by means of numerical simulations. Thus, we provide mathematical evidence on how to release the entomopathogenic nematode in order to control pests at acceptably low levels.  相似文献
