A certain family of summation-integral type operators

In the present paper, the authors introduce and investigate a new sequence of linear positive operators G_n,c, which includes some well-known operators as its special cases. The results obtained here include an estimate on the rate of convergence of G_n,c (f, x) by means of the decomposition technique for functions of bounded variation.     

Degree of approximation to function of bounded variation by Bézier variant of MKZ operators

Guo (Approx. Theory Appl. 4 (1988) 9-18) introduced the integral modification of Meyer-Konig and Zeller operators and studied the rate of convergence for functions of bounded variation. In this paper we introduce the Bézier variant of these integrated MKZ operators and study the rate of convergence by means of the decomposition technique of functions of bounded variation together with some results of probability theory and the exact bound of MKZ basis functions. Recently, Zeng (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 219 (1998) 364-376) claimed to improve the results of Guo and Gupta (Approx. Theory Appl. 11 (1995) 106-107), but there is a major mistake in the paper of Zeng. For special case our main theorem gives the correct estimate on the rate of convergence, over the result of Zeng.     

An estimate on the convergence of Baskakov-Bézier operators

In the present paper we estimate the rate of convergence on functions of bounded variation for the Bézier variant of the Baskakov operators Bn,α(f,x). Here we have studied the rate of convergence of Bn,α(f,x) for the case 0<α<1.     

Approximation by Durrmeyer–Bezier operators

In the present paper, we consider the Bezier variant M_n,α(f,x) of the generalized Durrmeyer type operators, and obtain an estimate on the rate of convergence of M_n,α(f,x) for the decomposition technique of functions of bounded variation. In the end we propose an open problem for the readers and give an asymptotic formula for these generalized Durrmeyer type operators.     

ON CONVERGENCE RATE OF APPROXIMATION FOR TWO-DIMENSIONAL BASKAKOV OPERATORS

In this paper, we study the convergence rate of two-dimensional Baskakov operators with Jacobi-weights making use of multivariate decompose skills and results of one-dimensional Baskakov operators, and obtain the direct approximationtheorem.     

Pointwise approximation by Bézier variant of integrated MKZ operators

In this paper the pointwise approximation of Bézier variant of integrated MKZ operators for general bounded functions is studied. Two estimate formulas of this type approximation are obtained. The approximation of functions of bounded variation becomes a special case of the main result of this paper. In the case of functions of bounded variation, Theorem B of the paper corrects the mistake of Theorem 1 of the article [V. Gupta, Degree of approximation to functions of bounded variation by Bézier variant of MKZ operators, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 289 (2004) 292-300].     

Convergence and Voronovskaja-type theorems for derivatives of generalized Baskakov operators

In the present paper our aim is to establish convergence and Voronovskaja-type theorems for first derivatives of generalized Baskakov operators for functions of one and two variables in exponential and polynomial weight spaces.      

Rate of convergence in simultaneous approximation for Szász-Mirakyan-Durrmeyer operators

In the present paper, we study the rate of convergence in simultaneous approximation for the Szász-Mirakyan-Durrmeyer operators by using the decomposition technique of functions of bounded variation.     

A Baskakov type generalization of statistical Korovkin theory

In this paper using the notion of A-statistical convergence, where A is a nonnegative regular summability matrix, we obtain some statistical variants of Baskakov's results on the Korovkin type approximation theorems.

Localization results for generalized Baskakov/Mastroianni and composite operators

In this paper we study localization results for classical sequences of linear positive operators that are particular cases of the generalized Baskakov/Mastroianni operators and also for certain class of composite operators that can be derived from them by means of a suitable transformation. Amongst these composite operators we can find classical sequences like the Meyer-König and Zeller operators and the Bleimann, Butzer and Hahn ones. We extend in different senses the traditional form of the localization results that we find in the classical literature and we show several examples of sequences with different behavior to this respect.     

On uniform approximation by some classical Bernstein-type operators

We investigate the functions for which certain classical families of operators of probabilistic type over noncompact intervals provide uniform approximation on the whole interval. The discussed examples include the Szász operators, the Szász-Durrmeyer operators, the gamma operators, the Baskakov operators, and the Meyer-König and Zeller operators. We show that some results of Totik remain valid for unbounded functions, at the same time that we give simple rates of convergence in terms of the usual modulus of continuity. We also show by a counterexample that the result for Meyer-König and Zeller operators does not extend to Cheney and Sharma operators.     

Integral operators of Urysohn-Stieltjes type

Summary We investigate some properties of nonlinear integral operators of Urysohn--Stieltjes type with kernels depending on two variables. Results concerning the continuity and compactness of these operators are obtained. The solvability of nonlinear Urysohn--Stieltjes integral equations is also studied.     

Durrmeyer type modification of generalized Baskakov operators

In the present paper, Durrmeyer type modification of generalized Baskakov operators is introduced and some direct results are established for these operators.
