In this paper, we develop and validate a numerical procedure for solving a class of initial boundary value problems for the improved Boussinesq equation. The finite element method with linear B-spline basis functions is used to discretize the nonlinear partial differential equation in space and derive a second order system involving only ordinary derivatives. It is shown that the coefficient matrix for the second order term in this system is invertible. Consequently, for the first time, the initial boundary value problem can be reduced to an explicit initial value problem to which many accurate numerical methods are readily applicable. Various examples are presented to validate this technique and demonstrate its capacity to simulate wave splitting, wave interaction and blow-up behavior.  相似文献

In this paper, a new improved Adomian decomposition method is proposed, which introduces a convergence-control parameter into the standard Adomian decomposition method and establishes a new iterative formula. The examples prove that the presented method is reliable, efficient, easy to implement from a computational viewpoint and can be employed to derive successfully analytical approximate solutions of fractional differential equations.  相似文献

We make use of the homogeneous balance method and symbolic computation to construct new exact traveling wave solutions for the Benjamin-Bona-Mahoney (BBM) equation. Many new exact traveling wave solutions are successfully obtained, which contain rational and periodic-like solutions. This method is straightforward and concise, and it can also be applied to other nonlinear evolution equations.  相似文献

By using methods from dynamical systems theory, this paper researches the bifurcation and exact travelling wave solutions for the modified Benjamin-Bona-Mahoney (mBBM) equation. Implicit exact parametric representations of all travelling wave solutions as well as some explicit analytic solutions are given. Specially, breaking wave solutions are obtained, which KdV equation does not include.  相似文献

We obtain new exact solutions to generalized Sawada-Kotera equation. Using the variational iteration method combined with the improved generalized tanh-coth method, we construct new traveling wave solutions for the standard Sawada-Kotera equation and, by means of scaling, we obtain new solutions to general Sawada-Kotera equation. Periodic and soliton solutions are formally derived for both models.  相似文献

In this work, an auxiliary equation is used for an analytic study on the time-variable coefficient modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation. Five sets of new exact soliton-like solutions are obtained. The results show that the pulse parameters are time-dependent variable coefficients. A five-dimensional symmetry algebra consisting of Lie point symmetries is firstly computed for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which, together with a reflection invariance, generates two five-parameter solution groups. Three ansätze of transformations are secondly analyzed and used to construct exact solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Various examples of exact solutions with constant, trigonometric function type, exponential function type and rational function amplitude are given upon careful analysis. A bifurcation phenomenon in the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is clearly exhibited during the solution process.  相似文献

In this study, we use two direct algebraic methods to solve a fourth-order dispersive cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which is used to describe the propagation of optical pulse in a medium exhibiting a parabolic nonlinearity law. By using complex envelope ansatz method, we first obtain a new dark soliton and bright soliton, which may approach nonzero when the time variable approaches infinity. Then a series of analytical exact solutions are constructed by means of F-expansion method. These solutions include solitary wave solutions of the bell shape, solitary wave solutions of the kink shape, and periodic wave solutions of Jacobian elliptic function.  相似文献

By using the Chen et al. ansatz [Chen Y, Wang Q, Lang Y. Naturforsch 2005;60a:127] and by modifying our extended Fan sub-equation method [Yomba E. Phys Lett A 2005;336:463]. We have obtained new and more general solutions including a series of non-travelling wave and coefficient function solutions namely: soliton-like solutions, triangular-like solutions, single and combined non-degenerate Jacobi elliptic wave function-like solutions for the (2+1)-dimensional Broer–Kaup–Kupershmidt equation. The most important achievement of this method lies on the fact that we have succeeded in one move to give all the solutions which can previously be obtained by application of at least four methods (the method using the Riccati equation, or the first kind elliptic equation, or the auxiliary ordinary equation, or the generalized Riccati equation as mapping equation).  相似文献

In this paper, the Fornberg-Whitham equation with linear dispersion term is investigated by employing the bifurcation method of dynamical systems. As a result, the existence of smooth and non-smooth traveling wave solutions is obtained. In this paper, a series of abundant exact travelling wave solutions is established for a modified generalized Vakhnenko equation by using auxiliary equation method. These solutions can be expressed by Jacobi elliptic function. On the basis of the F‐expansion method with a new sub‐equation and Exp‐function method, an improved F‐expansion method is introduced. As illustrative examples, the exact solutions expressed by exponential function, hyperbolic function of Kudryashov–Sinelshchikov equation for arbitrary α,β are derived. By using the bifurcation theory of dynamical systems to the generalized Kadomtsov-Petviashvili-Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation, the existence of solitary wave solutions, compactons solution, non-smooth periodic cusp wave solutions and uncountably infinite many smooth periodic wave solutions is obtained. Under different parametric conditions, various sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of the above solutions are given. An analytic technique, the homotopy analysis method (HAM), is applied to obtain the soliton solution of the Fitzhugh–Nagumo equation. The homotopy analysis method (HAM) is one of the most effective method to obtain the exact solution and provides us with a new way to obtain series solutions of such problems. In this paper, the one- and two-periodic wave solutions for the (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation are presented by means of the Hirota’s bilinear method and the Riemann theta function. The rigorous proofs on asymptotic behaviors of these two solutions are given that soliton solution can be obtained from the periodic wave solution in an appropriate limiting procedure.  相似文献
