A high order central-upwind scheme for approximating hyperbolic conservation laws is proposed. This construction is based on the evaluation of the local propagation speeds of the discontinuities and Peer's fourth order non-oscillatory reconstruction. The presented scheme shares the simplicity of central schemes, namely no Riemann solvers are involved. Furthermore, it avoids alternating between two staggered grids, which is particularly a challenge for problems which involve complex geometries and boundary conditions. Numerical experiments demonstrate the high resolution and non-oscillatory properties of our scheme.  相似文献

Burger, Karlsen, Torres and Towers in [9] proposed a flux TVD (FTVD) second order scheme with Engquist–Osher flux, by using a new nonlocal limiter algorithm for scalar conservation laws with discontinuous flux modeling clarifier thickener units. In this work we show that their idea can be used to construct FTVD second order scheme for general fluxes like Godunov, Engquist–Osher, Lax–Friedrich, … satisfying (A, B)-interface entropy condition for a scalar conservation law with discontinuous flux with proper modification at the interface. Also corresponding convergence analysis is shown. We show further from numerical experiments that solutions obtained from these schemes are comparable with the second order schemes obtained from the minimod limiter.  相似文献

We study a relaxation scheme of the Jin and Xin type for conservation laws with a flux function that depends discontinuously on the spatial location through a coefficient . If , we show that the relaxation scheme produces a sequence of approximate solutions that converge to a weak solution. The Murat-Tartar compensated compactness method is used to establish convergence. We present numerical experiments with the relaxation scheme, and comparisons are made with a front tracking scheme based on an exact Riemann solver.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new WENO scheme, in which we use a central WENO [G. Capdeville, J. Comput. Phys. 227 (2008) 2977-3014] (CWENO) reconstruction combined with the smoothness indicators introduced in [R. Borges, M. Carmona, B. Costa, W. Sun Don, J. Comput. Phys. 227 (2008) 3191-3211] (IWENO). We use the central-upwind flux [A. Kurganov, S. Noelle, G. Petrova, SIAM J. Sci. Comp. 23 (2001) 707-740] which is simple, universal and efficient. For time integration we use the third order TVD Runge-Kutta scheme. The resulting scheme improves the convergence order at critical points of smooth parts of solution as well as decrease the dissipation near discontinuities. Numerical experiments of the new scheme for one and two-dimensional problems are reported. The results demonstrates that the proposed scheme is superior to the original CWENO and IWENO schemes.  相似文献

We are concerned with the convergence of Lax-Wendroff type schemes with high resolution to the entropy solutions for conservation laws. These schemes include the original Lax-Wendroff scheme proposed by Lax and Wendroff in 1960 and its two step versions-the Richtmyer scheme and the MacCormack scheme. For the convex scalar conservation laws with algebraic growth flux functions, we prove the convergence of these schemes to the weak solutions satisfying appropriate entropy inequalities. The proof is based on detailed estimates of the approximate solutions, compactness estimates of the corresponding entropy dissipation measures, and some compensated compactness frameworks. Then these techniques are generalized to study the convergence problem for the nonconvex scalar case and the hyperbolic systems of conservation laws.

The initial boundary value problem for a class of scalar nonautonomous conservation laws in 1 space dimension is proved to be well posed and stable with respect to variations in the flux. Targeting applications to traffic, the regularity assumptions on the flow are extended to a merely dependence on time. These results ensure, for instance, the well‐posedness of a class of vehicular traffic models with time‐dependent speed limits. A traffic management problem is then shown to admit an optimal solution.  相似文献

We prove the continuous dependence on the initial and flux functions for the entropy solutions to the Cauchy problem for conservation laws. Accordingly, we can show that the continuous dependence on the flux function for the entropy solutions depends only on the sup norm, not on the Lipschitz norm.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a concept of “regulated function” v(t,x) of two variables, which reduces to the classical definition when v is independent of t. We then consider a scalar conservation law of the form ut+F(v(t,x),u)x=0, where F is smooth and v is a regulated function, possibly discontinuous w.r.t. both t and x. By adding a small viscosity, one obtains a well posed parabolic equation. As the viscous term goes to zero, the uniqueness of the vanishing viscosity limit is proved, relying on comparison estimates for solutions to the corresponding Hamilton–Jacobi equation. As an application, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a class of 2×2 triangular systems of conservation laws with hyperbolic degeneracy.  相似文献

In this work a first order accurate semi-conservative composite scheme is presented for hyperbolic conservation laws. The idea is to consider the non-conservative form of conservation law and utilize the explicit wave propagation direction to construct semi-conservative upwind scheme. This method captures the shock waves exactly with less numerical dissipation but generates unphysical rarefaction shocks in case of expansion waves with sonic points. It shows less dissipative nature of constructed scheme. In order to overcome it, we use the strategy of composite schemes. A very simple criteria based on wave speed direction is given to decide the iterations. The proposed method is applied to a variety of test problems and numerical results show accurate shock capturing and higher resolution for rarefaction fan.  相似文献

Using the concept of monotonization, families of two step and k-step finite volume schemes for scalar hyperbolic conservation laws are constructed and analyzed. These families contain the FORCE scheme and give an alternative to the MUSTA scheme. These schemes can be extended to systems of conservation law.  相似文献

A classic strategy to obtain high‐quality discretizations of hyperbolic partial differential equations is to use flux limiter (FL) functions for blending two types of approximations: a monotone first‐order scheme that deals with discontinuous solution features and a higher order method for approximating smooth solution parts. In this article, we study a new approach to FL methods. Relying on a classification of input data with respect to smoothness, we associate specific basis functions with the individual smoothness notions. Then, we construct a limiter as a linear combination of the members of parameter‐dependent families of basis functions, and we explore the possibility to optimize the parameters in interesting model situations to find a corresponding optimal limiter. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We give uniform BV estimates and -stability of Lax-Friedrichs' scheme for a class of systems of strictly hyperbolic conservation laws whose integral curves of the eigenvector fields are straight lines, i.e., Temple class, under the assumption of small total variation. This implies that the approximate solutions generated via the Lax-Friedrichs' scheme converge to the solution given by the method of vanishing viscosity or the Godunov scheme, and then the Glimm scheme or the wave front tracking method.

In this paper, we will give BV-estimates of Lax–Friedrichs' scheme for a simple hyperbolic system of conservation laws with relaxation and get the global existence and uniqueness of BV-solution by the BV-estimates above. Furthermore, our results show that the solution converge towards the solution of an equilibrium model as the relaxation time ε>0 tends to zero provided sub-characteristic condition holds. We focus in this study on the convergence of a class of relaxation numerical schemes for hyperbolic scalar conservation laws including stiff source terms. Following Jin and Xin, we use as approximation of the scalar conservation law, a semi-linear hyperbolic system with a second stiff source term. This allows us to avoid the use of a Riemann solver in the construction of the numerical schemes. The convergence of the approximate solution toward a weak solution is established in the cases of first and second order accurate MUSCL relaxed methods.

We study the scalar conservation law with a noisy nonlinear source, namely,u l + f(u)x = h(u, x, t) + g(u)W(t), whereW(t) is the white noise in the time variable, and we analyse the Cauchy problem for this equation where the initial data are assumed to be deterministic. A method is proposed to construct approximate weak solutions, and we then show that this yields a convergent sequence. This sequence converges to a (pathwise) solution of the Cauchy problem. The equation can be considered as a model of deterministic driven phase transitions with a random perturbation in a system of two constituents. Finally we show some numerical results motivated by two-phase flow in porous media. In this article we present a high resolution hybrid central finite difference—WENO scheme for the solution of conservation laws, in particular, those related to shock–turbulence interaction problems. A sixth order central finite difference scheme is conjugated with a fifth order weighted essentially non-oscillatory WENO scheme in a grid-based adaptive way. High order multi-resolution analysis is used to detect the high gradients regions of the numerical solution in order to capture the shocks with the WENO scheme while the smooth regions are computed with the more efficient and accurate central finite difference scheme. The application of high order filtering to mitigate the dispersion error of central finite difference schemes is also discussed. Numerical experiments with the 1D compressible Euler equations are shown.  相似文献

We consider conservation laws for second-order parabolic partial differential equations for one function of three independent variables. An explicit normal form is given for such equations having a nontrivial conservation law. It is shown that any such equation whose space of conservation laws has dimension at least four is locally contact equivalent to a quasi-linear equation. Examples are given of nonlinear equations that have an infinite-dimensional space of conservation laws parameterized (in the sense of Cartan-K?hler) by two arbitrary functions of one variable. Furthermore, it is shown that any equation whose space of conservation laws is larger than this is locally contact equivalent to a linear equation.  相似文献
