Five new chromogenic azocalix[4]arenemonoquinones have been synthesized, characterized and examined for their interaction with alkali metal cations (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+ and Cs+) by UV-visible spectroscopic and cyclic voltammetric techniques. It has been determined that 4a selectively exhibits a significant bathochromic shift in its UV-visible spectrum on interaction with potassium ion in comparison to its treatment with other alkali metal cations. The binding stoichiometry of 4a and potassium ion was established to be 1:1 with an association constant of 3.27 × 104 M?1. Cyclic voltammetric experiments in 4:1 dichloromethane-acetonitrile also revealed a significant anodic shift (ΔE (1/1′) = 115 mV) of the original redox waves of 4a on interaction with potassium ion.  相似文献

From extraction experiments and γ-activity measurements, the extraction constant corresponding to the equilibrium Cs+(aq) + 1·Na + (nb) = 1·Cs+(nb) + Na+(aq) taking place in the two-phase water-nitrobenzene system (1 = lithium ionophore VIII; aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) was evaluated as log K ex (Cs+, 1·Na+) = ?0.5 ± 0.1. Further, the stability constant of the 1·Cs+ complex in nitrobenzene saturated with water was calculated for a temperature of 25 °C: log β nb (1·Cs+) = 4.8 ± 0.2. Finally, by using quantum mechanical DFT calculations, the most probable structure of the cationic complex species 1·Cs+ was derived. In the resulting complex, the “central” cation Cs+ is bound by six bond interactions to the corresponding six oxygen atoms of the parent ligand 1.  相似文献

A density functional theory based on interaction of alkali metal cations (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+ and Cs+) with cyclic peptides constructed from 3 or 4 alanine molecule (CyAla3 and CyAla4), has been investigated using mixed basis set (C, H, O, Li+, Na+ and K+ using 6-31+G(d), and the heavier cations: Rb+ and Cs+ using LANL2DZ). The minimum energy structures, binding energies, and various thermodynamic parameters of free ligands and their metal cations complexes have been determined with B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP functionals. The order of interaction energies were found to be Li> K> Na> Rb> Cs+ and Li> Na> K? Rb> Cs+, calculated at CAM-B3LYP level for the M/CyAla3 and M/CyAla4 complexes, respectively. Their selectivity trend shows that the highest cation selectivity for Li+ over other alkali metal ions has been achieved on the basis of thermodynamic analysis. The main types of driving force host–guest interactions are investigated, the electron-donating O offers lone pair electrons to the contacting LP* of alkali metal cations.  相似文献

From extraction experiments and γ-activity measurements, the exchange extraction constants corresponding to the general equilibrium M+(aq) + 1·Cs+(nb) ? M+(nb) + Cs+(aq) taking place in the two-phase water–nitrobenzene system (M+ = Li+, Na+, H+, NH4 +, Ag+, K+, Rb+, Tl+; 1 = dibenzo-30-crown-10; aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) were determined. Furthermore, the stability constants of the 1·M+ complexes in water-saturated nitrobenzene were calculated; they were found to increase in the series of Cs+ < H+, Ag+ < NH4 + < Na+ < Rb+ < Li+ < K+, Tl+.  相似文献

From extraction experiments and $ \gamma $ -activity measurements, the exchange extraction constant corresponding to the equilibrium Tl+ (aq) + 1·Cs+ (org) ? 1·Tl+ (org) + Cs+ (aq) taking place in the two-phase water–phenyltrifluoromethyl sulfone (abbrev. FS 13) system (1 = calix[4]arene-bis(t-octylbenzo-18-crown-6); aq = aqueous phase, org = FS 13 phase) was evaluated as log K ex (Tl+, 1·Cs+) = 1.7 ± 0.1. Further, the extraordinarily high stability constant of the 1·Tl+ complex in FS 13 saturated with water was calculated for a temperature of 25 °C: log β org(1·Tl+) = 13.1 ± 0.2. Finally, by using quantum mechanical DFT calculations, the most probable structure of the cationic complex species 1·Tl+ was derived. In the resulting 1·Tl+ complex, the “central” cation Tl+ is bound by eight bond interactions to six oxygen atoms from the respective 18-crown-6 moiety and to two carbons of the corresponding two benzene rings of the parent receptor 1 via cation–π interaction.  相似文献

Complexation of alkali metal cations with 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-26,28,25,27-tetrakis(O-methyl-D-α-phenylglycylcarbonylmethoxy)calix[4]arene (L) was studied by means of spectrophotometric, conductometric and potentiometric titrations at 25 °C. The solvent effect on the binding ability of L was examined by using two solvents with different affinities for hydrogen bonding, viz. methanol and acetonitrile. Despite the presence of intramolecular NH···O=C hydrogen bonds in L, which need to be disrupted to allow metal ion binding, this calix[4]arene amino acid derivative was shown to be an efficient binder for smaller Li+ and Na+ cations in acetonitrile (lg KLiL > 5, lg KNaL = 7.66), moderately efficient for K+ (lg KKL = 4.62), whereas larger Rb+ and Cs+ did not fit in its hydrophilic cavity. The complex stabilities in methanol were significantly lower (lg KNaL = 4.45, lg KKL = 2.48). That could be explained by different solvation of the cations and by competition between the cations and methanol molecules (via hydrogen bonds) for amide carbonyl oxygens. The influence of cation solvation on complex stability was most pronounced in the case of Li+ for which, contrary to the quite stable LiL+ complex in acetonitrile, no complexation was observed in methanol under the conditions used.  相似文献

Further, the stability constant of the Ag+ complex in FS 13 saturated with water was calculated for a temperature of 25 °C: log β org(Ag+) = 10.1 ± 0.2. The reactions of a racemic four-coordinate Ni(II) complex [Ni(rac-L)](ClO4)2 with l- and d-alanine in acetonitrile/water gave two six-coordinate enantiomers formulated as [Ni(RR-L)(l-Ala)](ClO4)·2CH3CN (1) and [Ni(SS-L)(d-Ala)](ClO4) (2) (L = 5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclo-tetradecane, Ala? = alanine anion), respectively. Evaporation from the remaining solutions gave two four-coordinate enantiomers characterized as [Ni(SS-L)](ClO4)2 (S-3) and [Ni(RR-L)](ClO4)2 (R-3), respectively. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses of complexes 1 and 2 revealed that the Ni(II) atom has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry, being coordinated by four nitrogen atoms of L in a folded configuration, plus one carboxylate oxygen atom and one nitrogen atom of l- or d-Ala? in mutually cis-positions. Complexes 1 and 2 are supramolecular stereoisomers, constructed via hydrogen bonding between [Ni(RR-L)(l-Ala)]+ or [Ni(SS-L)(d-Ala)]+ monomers to form 1D hydrogen-bonded zigzag chains. The homochiral natures of complexes 1 and 2 have been confirmed by CD spectroscopy.  相似文献

Two βCD dimers (linked by succinic acid, 2, or ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA, 3, bridges) and a negatively charged monomer derivative of βCD, 1, have been synthesized and their ability to solubilize cholesterol in aqueous solution was studied. The three compounds exhibit a great capacity in solubilizing cholesterol as, for instance, concentrations up to 6 mM of cholesterol were measured in the presence of 25 mM of 3. The phase-solubility diagrams of the two dimers exhibit A L type profiles while the monomer 1 follows an A P isotherm. The cholesterol/dimer complexes have 1:1 stoicheiometries while monomer 1 forms two complexes with molar ratios of 1:1 and 1:2 (cholesterol/1). The equilibrium constants are K 1:1 = (5.9 ± 0.3) × 104 M?1 and K 1:1 = (8.8 ± 0.2) × 104 M?1 for 2 and 3, respectively, and K 1:1 = 73 ± 19 M?1 and K 1:2 = 204 ± 65 M?1 for 1. The comparison of K 1:1(3) with the product K 1:1 × K 1:2 (1) reveals that a chelate effect in binding the cholesterol by 3 exists. The structure of the cholesterol/3 complex was studied by ROESY experiments and by molecular dynamics simulations.  相似文献

Calix[4]arene based podands 1a of cone conformation and 1b of 1,3-alternate conformation possessing imine units and bearing anthracene moieties have been synthesized by a 1 + 2 Schiff base condensation in good yields and examined for their cation recognition abilities towards cations such as lithium, sodium, potassium, nickel, cadmium, copper, zinc, lead, silver and mercury ions by UV–vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The calix[4]arene derivative 1b shows a selective fluorescence enhancement in presence of Cu2+ ions among the various metal ions tested (Li+, Na+, K+, Ni2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Pb2+, Ag+ and Hg2+ ions). The colour of the solution changes from colourless to light yellow in the presence of Cu2+ ions. The stoichiometry of the complex formed between 1b and Cu2+ was found to be 1:1 as established by Job’s plot.  相似文献

Aryl/pyridyl oxadiazole chromophores 6, 8 and 10, carrying N-phenyl aza-18-crown-6 have been synthesized as new photo-induced charge transfer (PCT) probes. While, the absorption spectra of the hosts experienced a slight negative solvatochromism, however the emission bands were dramatically red shifted (Stokes shifts up to 178 nm) in solvents of increasing polarity. Among the metal ions tested, Li+, Na+, K+ and Mg2+ did not appreciably perturbed the optical properties of the hosts. On the other hand, Ba2+ and to a lesser extent Ca2+ induced marked blue shifts in both the absorption and emission spectra of the hosts. The magnitude of cation induced spectral blue shifts corresponded with the increasing acceptor strength of the attached aryl/pyridyl groups in the host molecules. The blue shifts and the stability constants were found to follow the order Ba2+ > Ca2+ ? Mg2+ > Na+ > Li+ > K+. Competitive experiments performed with a matrix of ions also revealed superior binding affinity of Ba2+ with all the hosts examined. Noteworthily, the deep yellow solution (λmax, 386 nm) of the host 10 was completely bleached (λmax, 320 nm), in the company of Ba2+ thereby allowing the naked eye detection of this ion.  相似文献

The complexation processes between Li+, Na+, K+ and NH 4 + cations with macrocyclic ligand, 4′-nitrobenzo-15C5, were studied in acetonitrile–methanol (AN–MeOH) binary mixtures at different temperatures using conductometric method. The conductance data show that the stoichiometry of the complexes formed between the ligand and Li+, Na+, K+ and NH 4 + cations is 1:1(M:L). Addition of 4′-nitrobenzo-15C5 to these cations solution, causes a continuous increase in the molar conductivities which indicates that the mobility of the complexed cations is more than the uncomplexed ones. The values of stability constants of the complexes were determined from conductometric data using GENPLOT computer program. The obtained results show that the selectivity order of the ligand for Li+, Na+, K+ and NH 4 + cations changes with the nature and composition of the binary mixed solvent. The values of thermodynamic parameters (ΔH°c, ΔS°c) for formation of the complexes were obtained from temperature dependence of the stability constants using the van’t Hoff plot. The results show that the complexes are both enthalpy and entropy stabilized. A non-linear behavior was observed between the stability constants (log K f ) of the complexes and the composition of the AN–MeOH binary solution.  相似文献

Four new mononuclear triazido-cobalt(III) complexes [Co(L 1/2/4 )(N3)3] and [Co(L 3 )(N3)3]·CH3CN where L 1  = [(2-pyridyl)-2-ethyl]-(2-pyridylmethyl)-N-methylamine, L 2  = [(2-pyridyl)-2-ethyl]-[6-methyl-(2-pyridylmethyl)]-N-methylamine, L 3  = [(2-pyridyl)-2-ethyl]-[3,5-dimethyl-4-methoxy-(2-pyridylmethyl)]-N-methylamine, and L 4  = [(2-pyridyl)-2-ethyl]-[3,4-dimethoxy-(2-pyridylmethyl)]-N-methylamine, respectively, were synthesized and structurally characterized. The four complexes were characterized by elemental microanalyses, IR and UV–VIS spectroscopy and X-ray single crystal crystallography. The complexes display two strong IR bands over the frequency region 2,020–2,050 cm?1 assigned for the asymmetric stretching frequency, νa(N3) of the coordinated azides indicating facial geometry. The molecular structure determinations of the complexes were in complete agreement with fac-[Co(L)(N3)3] conformation in distorted octahedral Co(III) environment.  相似文献

Two isomeric NS2-macrocycles incorporating a xylyl group at ortho (o -L) and meta (m -L) positions were employed and their copper complexes (1?C5) were prepared and structurally characterized. The copper(II) nitrate complexes [Cu(L)(NO3)2] (1: L = o -L, 2: L = m -L) for both ligands were isolated. In each case, the copper center is five-coordinated with a distorted square pyramidal geometry. Despite the overall geometrical similarity, 1 and 2 show the different ligand conformation due to the discriminated packing pattern. Reaction of o -L with copper(II) perchlorate afforded complex 3 containing two independent complex cations [Cu(o -L)(H2O)(DMF)(ClO4)]+ and [Cu(o -L)(H2O)(DMF)]2+; the coordination geometry of the former is a distorted octahedron while the latter shows a distorted square pyramidal arrangement. In the reactions of copper(I) halides (I or Br), o -L gave a mononuclear complex [Cu(o-L)I] (4) with a distorted tetrahedral geometry, while m -L afforded a unique exodentate 2:1 (ligand-to-metal) complex [trans-Br2Cu(m-L)2] (5) adopting a trans-type square-planar arrangement.  相似文献

A number of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene thioamides were synthesized and characterized by 1H-NMR and elemental analysis. Compounds 15 are O-substituted derivatives with –CH2–C(=S)–N–X groups, where NX = morpholidyl, NEt2, NHC2H4Ph, NHCH2Ph and NHEt, respectively. The X-ray structures of the ligands 1, 3, 5 and of the complex 3·Pb(ClO4)2, (compound 6), are presented and their slightly distorted cone conformation is established. The influence of the nature of the thioamide functions (secondary or tertiary) on the extractability of some selected metal cations was investigated. Whereas all these calixarenes show the highest extraction level for Ag+, tertiary thioamides are more efficient extractants for Pb2+ than secondary thioamides.  相似文献
