The need for highly reliable methods for the determination of trace and ultratrace elements has been recognized in analytical chemistry and environmental science. A simple and powerful microextraction technique was used for the detection of the lead ultratrace amounts in water samples using the dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME), followed by the electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ET AAS). In this microextraction technique, a mixture of 0.50 mL acetone (disperser solvent), containing 35 microL carbon tetrachloride (extraction solvent) and 5 microL diethyldithiophosphoric acid (chelating agent), was rapidly injected by syringe into the 5.00 mL water sample, spiked with lead. In this process, the lead ions reacted with the chelating agent and were extracted into the fine droplets of CCl(4). After centrifugation (2 min at 5000 rpm), the fine CCl4 droplets were sedimented at the bottom of the conical test tube (25+/-1 microL). Then, 20 microL from the sedimented phase, containing the enriched analyte, was determined by ET AAS. The next step was the optimization of various experimental conditions, affecting DLLME, such as the type and the volume of the extraction solvent, the type and the volume of the disperser solvent, the extraction time, the salt effect, pH and the chelating agent amount. Moreover, the effect of the interfering ions on the analytes recovery was also investigated. Under the optimum conditions, the enrichment factor of 150 was obtained from only a 5.00 mL water sample. The calibration graph was linear in the range of 0.05-1 microg L(-1) with the detection limit of 0.02 microg L(-1). The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for seven replicate measurements of 0.50 microg L(-1) of lead was 2.5%. The relative lead recoveries in mineral, tap, well and sea water samples at the spiking level of 0.20 and 0.40 microg L(-1) varied from 93.5 to 105.0. The characteristics of the proposed method were compared with the cloud point extraction (CPE), the liquid-liquid extraction, the solid phase extraction (SPE), the on-line solid phase extraction (SPE) and the co-precipitation, based on bibliographic data. The main DLLME advantages combined with ET AAS were simplicity of operation, rapidity, low cost, high-enrichment factor, good repeatability, low consumption of extraction solvent, requiring a low sample volume (5.00 mL).  相似文献

Using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexa?uorophosphate ([BMIM][PF6]) room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) as extraction solvent, tetrahydrofuran (THF) as disperser solvent, the organophosphorus pesticide dichlorvos in water was determined by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) combined with high-performance liquid chromatography. Factors affecting RTIL-DLLME (type of disperser solvent, amount of RTIL, volume of disperser solvent, percentage of NaCl and volume and pH of water sample) were optimized by the single-factor method, obtaining the most favorable results when using 65 μL of [BMIM][PF6] and 260 μL of THF to extract the compound from an 8-mL water sample at pH 5.0 containing 25% (w/v) of NaCl. Under these optimum conditions, an enrichment factor of 215-fold was obtained. The calibration curves were linear in the concentration range of 2-1,000 μg/L. The limit of detection calculated at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3 was 0.2 μg/L. The relative standard deviations (RSD) for six replicate experiments at 20, 100 and 200 μg/L concentration levels were 1.8%, 1.3% and 1.3 %, respectively. Then the proposed method was applied to the analysis of three different water sample sources (tap, farm and rain water) and the relative recoveries and RSD of spiked water samples were 95.6-102.4% and 0.6-3.1%, respectively, at three different concentration levels of 20, 100 and 200 μg/L.  相似文献

A rapid dispersive liquid-liquid micro-extraction (DLLME) methodology based on the application of 1-hexylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate [C6py][PF6] ionic liquid (IL) as an extractant solvent was applied for the pre-concentration of trace levels of cobalt prior to determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). 1-Phenyl-3-methyl-4-benzoyl-5-pyrazolone (PMBP) was employed as a chelator forming a Co-PMBP complex to extract cobalt ions from aqueous solution into the fine droplets of [C6py][PF6]. Some effective factors that influence the micro-extraction efficiency include the pH, the PMBP concentration, the amount of ionic liquid, the ionic strength, the temperature and the centrifugation time which were investigated and optimized. In the optimum experimental conditions, the limit of detection (3s) and the enrichment factor were 0.70 μg L−1 and 60, respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for six replicate determinations of 50 μg L−1 Co was 2.36%. The calibration graph using the pre-concentration system was linear at levels 2–166 μg L−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9982. The applicability of the proposed method was evaluated by the determination of trace amounts of cobalt in several water samples.   相似文献

A microextraction method, namely temperature-controlled/assisted ionic liquid-based dispersive liquid-phase microextraction (DLPME) for manganese(II) determination in environmental water samples is presented. Manganese(II) was extracted from aqueous solution into an ionic liquid (IL) after complexation with 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthol (TAN) and directly introduced for electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) determination. Several factors that might affect ETAAS signal and extraction efficiency, such as pyrolysis and atomization temperature; and pH adjustment, concentration of TAN, extraction time, volume of IL and stirring rate were studied. Within optimal experimental conditions, the detection limit (3σ), the quantification limit (10σ), the enrichment factor and the relative standard deviation for five replicate determinations at 0.5 μg L?1 of manganese(II) were calculated as 0.023 μg L?1, 0.076 μg L?1, 58.7 and 6.3 %, respectively. The presented method was also successfully applied to the determination of manganese(II) in real samples. The main benefits of the method are simplicity, low cost, rapidity, high recovery, powerful extraction efficiency and the proposed approach is free of volatile organic solvents.  相似文献

We report on a new method for the microextraction and determination of zinc (II). The ion is accumulated via ionic-liquid cold-induced aggregation dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (IL-CIA-DLLME) followed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The ionic liquid (IL) 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate is dispersed into a heated sample solution containing sodium hexafluorophosphate as a common ion source. The solution is then placed in an ice-water bath upon which a cloudy solution forms due to the decrease of the solubility of the IL. Zinc is complexed with 8-hydroxyquinoline and extracted into the IL. The enriched phase is dissolved in a diluting agent and introduced to the FAAS. The method is not influenced by variations in the ionic strength of the sample solution. Factors affecting the performance were evaluated and optimized. At optimum conditions, the limit of detection is 0.18???g?L?1, and the relative standard deviation is 3.0% (at n?=?5). The method was validated by recovery experiments and by analyzing a certified reference material and successfully applied to the determination of Zn (II) in water and food samples.

A robust ionic liquid-based method for dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction was developed for the determination of cobalt in saline samples. Its robustness was increased by introducing a common ion of the IL into the sample solution. The concentration of cobalt in the settled phase of the ionic liquid was determined by the FAAS using a homemade microsample injection valve. Under the optimized conditions, the calibration graph was linear in the concentration range from 0.4 to 120 ??g L?1 with the detection limit of 0.1 ??g L?1. Accuracy was checked against the ISO standard method. The method was successfully applied to the determination of cobalt in water and saline samples.  相似文献

A simple and robust flow injection system which permits low sample and reagent consumption is described for rapid and reliable hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric determination of selenium, arsenic and bismuth. The system, which composed of one peristaltic pump and one four channel solenoid valve, used water as the carrier streams for both sample and NaBH4 solution. Rapid off-line pre-reduction of the analytes was achieved by using hydroxylamine hydrochloride for selenium and a mixture of potassium iodide and ascorbic acid for arsenic and bismuth. Transition metal interference was eliminated with the addition of thiourea and EDTA into the NaBH4 solution and significant sensitivity enhancement was observed for selenium in the presence of thiourea in the reductant solution. Under optimised conditions, the method achieved detection limits of 0.2 ng mL−1 for Se, 0.5 ng mL−1 for As and 0.3 ng mL−1 for Bi. The method was very reproducible, achieving relative standard deviations of 6.3% for Se, 3.6% for As and 4.7% for Bi, and has a sample throughput of 360 h−1. Successful application of the method to the quantification of selenium, arsenic and bismuth in a certified reference river sediment sample is reported.  相似文献

A new method was developed for the determination of cadmium in water samples using ionic liquid-based ultrasound-assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (IL-based USA-DLLME) followed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The IL-based USA-DLLME procedure is free of volatile organic solvents, and there is no need for a dispersive solvent, in contrast to conventional DLLME. The ionic liquid, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (HMIMPF6), was quickly disrupted by an ultrasonic probe for 1 min and dispersed in water samples like a cloud. At this stage, a hydrophobic cadmium–DDTC complex was formed and extracted into the fine droplets of HMIMPF6. After centrifugation, the concentration of the enriched cadmium in the sedimented phase was determined by ETAAS. Some effective parameters of the complex formation and microextraction, such as the concentration of the chelating agent, the pH, the volume of the extraction solvent, the extraction time, and the salt effect, have been optimized. Under optimal conditions, a high extraction efficiency and selectivity were reached for the extraction of 1.0 ng of cadmium in 10.0 mL of water solution employing 73 µL of HMIMPF6 as the extraction solvent. The enrichment factor of the method is 67. The detection limit was 7.4 ng L− 1, and the characteristic mass (m0, 0.0044 absorbance) of the proposed method was 0.02 pg for cadmium (Cd). The relative standard deviation (RSD) for 11 replicates of 50 ng L− 1 Cd was 3.3%. The method was applied to the analysis of tap, well, river, and lake water samples and the Environmental Water Reference Material GSBZ 50009-88 (200921). The recoveries of spiked samples were in the range of 87.2–106%.  相似文献

The dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) was combined with the flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) for determination of lead in the water samples. Diethyldithiophosphoric acid (DDTP), carbon tetrachloride and methanol were used as chelating agent, extraction solvent and disperser solvent, respectively. A new FAAS sample introduction system was employed for the microvolume nebulization of the non-flammable chlorinated organic extracts. Injection of 20 μL volumes of the organic extract into an air-acetylene flame provided very sensitive spike-like and reproducible signals. Some effective parameters on the microextraction and the complex formation were selected and optimized. These parameters include extraction and disperser solvent type as well as their volume, extraction time, salt effect, pH and amount of the chelating agent. Under the optimized conditions, the enrichment factor of 450 was obtained from a sample volume of 25.0 mL. The enhancement factor, calculated as the ratio of the slopes of the calibration graphs with and without preconcentration, which was about 1000. The calibration graph was linear in the range of 1-70 μg L−1 with a detection limit of 0.5 μg L−1. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for seven replicate measurements of 5.0 and 50 μg L−1 of lead were 3.8 and 2.0%, respectively. The relative recoveries of lead in tap, well, river and seawater samples at the spiking level of 20 μg L−1 ranged from 93.8 to 106.2%. The characteristics of the proposed method were compared with those of the liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), cloud point extraction (CPE), on-line and off-line solid-phase extraction (SPE) as well as co-precipitation, based on bibliographic data. Operation simplicity, rapidity, low cost, high enrichment factor, good repeatability, and low consumption of the extraction solvent at a microliter level are the main advantages of the proposed method.  相似文献

A new method based on ultrasonic slurry sampling atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) was established for the determination of trace mercury in geological samples by use of recently developed mercury cold vapor generation using formic acid under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The generated mercury cold vapor was rapidly separated from the matrix and swept into a T-tube for the measurement of atomic absorbance. Under the optimal experimental conditions, up to 1000-fold of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cr(VI), Mn(II), Fe(III), and Zn(II) caused no significant interference with the determination of 50 μg L−1 Hg. The limit of detection at sub-ppb level was obtained for mercury. The method was applied to the determination of mercury in geological samples with satisfactory results. A method for on-line treatment of whole blood in a microwave oven and determination of mercury by flow injection cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry was developed. After dilution of the whole blood and addition of oxidant, all further treatment and measurement were performed automatically, on-line. Recoveries of five mercury compounds were complete. Good agreement between measured and recommended values of mercury in whole blood reference materials was obtained. Measured mercury values also agreed with results from other accepted methods. Sample throughput was about 45 measurements/hr. Detection limit (3s) in diluted sample was 0.1 μg/l corresponding to 1μg/l Hg in whole blood. The RSD value at 0.5 μg/l Hg in the diluted sample was 6–7% (11 measurements and 0.5 ml sample volume). Mercury concentrations between 1 and 150 μg/l in whole blood can be measured using this method. For three replicate measurements, 0.5 ml of whole blood is required.  相似文献

A highly sensitive, simple and rapid method is presented for the determination of palladium using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry after its separation and preconcentration by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction. Ultra traces of Pd were extracted and preconcentrated in acidic water samples by using 2-amino-1-cyclohexene-1-dithiocarboxylic acid as a suitable chelating agent, and carbon tetrachloride and acetone as extraction and disperser solvents, respectively. The experimental parameters were optimized in order to enhance the extraction efficiency. After optimizing the extraction conditions and various instrumental parameters, an enhancement factor of 350 was obtained. The analytical curve absorbance vs. concentration was linear over the range 0.02–0.6 µg L-1 Pd. The detection limit and relative standard deviation were 0.007 µg L-1 and 4.2%, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the determination of palladium in roadside soil and several aqueous samples.  相似文献

A simple, sensitive and powerful on-line sequential injection (SI) dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) system was developed as an alternative approach for on-line metal preconcentration and separation, using extraction solvent at microlitre volume. The potentials of this novel schema, coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS), were demonstrated for trace copper and lead determination in water samples. The stream of methanol (disperser solvent) containing 2.0% (v/v) xylene (extraction solvent) and 0.3% (m/v) ammonium diethyldithiophosphate (chelating agent) was merged on-line with the stream of sample (aqueous phase), resulting a cloudy mixture, which was consisted of fine droplets of the extraction solvent dispersed entirely into the aqueous phase. By this continuous process, metal chelating complexes were formed and extracted into the fine droplets of the extraction solvent. The hydrophobic droplets of organic phase were retained into a microcolumn packed with PTFE-turnings. A portion of 300 μL isobutylmethylketone was used for quantitative elution of the analytes, which transported directly to the nebulizer of FAAS. All the critical parameters of the system such as type of extraction solvent, flow-rate of disperser and sample, extraction time as well as the chemical parameters were studied. Under the optimum conditions the enhancement factor for copper and lead was 560 and 265, respectively. For copper, the detection limit and the precision (R.S.D.) were 0.04 μg L−1 and 2.1% at 2.0 μg L−1 Cu(II), respectively, while for lead were 0.54 μg L−1 and 1.9% at 30.0 μg L−1 Pb(II), respectively. The developed method was evaluated by analyzing certified reference material and applied successfully to the analysis of environmental water samples.  相似文献

Room temperature ionic liquid, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [C4MIM][PF6], was used as an alternative to volatile organic solvents in single drop microextraction-electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (SDME-ETAAS). Manganese was extracted from aqueous solution into a drop of the ionic liquid after complextaion with 1-(2-thiazolylazo)-2-naphthol (TAN) and the drop was directly injected into the graphite furnace. Several variables affecting microextraction efficiency and ETAAS signal, such as pyrolysis and atomization temperature, pH, TAN concentration, extraction time, drop volume and stirring rate were investigated and optimized. In the optimum experimental conditions, the limit of detection (3 s) and the enhancement factor were 0.024 μg L−1 and 30.3, respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for five replicate determinations of 0.5 μg L−1 Mn(II) was 5.5%. The developed method was validated by the analysis of a certified reference material (NIST SRM 1643e) and applied successfully to the determination of manganese in several natural water samples.  相似文献

An on-line flow injection-hydride generation/atomic absorption spectrometry method was developed for the preconcentration and selective determination of inorganic arsenic [As(III) and As(V)] and its methylated species. The separation of the arsenic species was performed by an automated pH-selective arsines generation technique, using sodium tetrahydroborate(III) as reductant. Each arsine was cryogenically trapped in a PTFE coil, knotted and sealed inside another wider diameter tube, through which liquid nitrogen was suctioned by negative pressure. Then, based on their different boiling points, the arsine species were selectively liberated by using a heating cycle of microwave radiation, followed by atomic absorption detection. A sample solution aliquot mixed with 1% citric acid was used for the determination of As(III) alone, while a second sample aliquot mixed with 2 mol l(-1) nitric acid was used for the quantitative determination of total inorganic arsenic, monomethylarsonic acid and dimethylarsinic acid. Based on 10 ml sample, the detection limits lie within the range 20-60 ng As l(-1), which are sufficiently low to detect the arsines-forming species in natural waters. These values are negatively affected by the reagents purity and background noise due to flame flickering, but the sensitivity can substantially be improved by increasing sample size or running several consecutive reactions.  相似文献

A flow injection-column preconcentration-hydride generation atomic absorption spectrophotometric (FI-column-HGAAS) method was developed for determining μg/l levels of As(III) and As(V) in water samples, with simultaneous preconcentration and speciation. The speciation scheme involved determining As(V) at neutral pH and As(III + V) at pH 12, with As(III) obtained by difference. The enrichment factor (EF) increased with increase in sample loading volume from 2.5 to 10 ml, and for preconcentration using the chloride-form anion exchange column, EFs ranged from 5 to 48 for As(V) and 4 to 24 for As(III + V), with corresponding detection limits of 0.03-0.3 and 0.07-0.3 μg/l. Linear concentration range (LCR) also varied with sample loading volume, and for a 5-ml sample was 0.3-5 and 0.2-8 μg/l for As(V) and As(III + V), respectively. Sample throughput, which decreased with increase in sample volume, was 8-17 samples/h. For the hydroxide-form column, the EFS for 2.5-10 ml samples were 3-23 for As(V) and 2-15 for As(III + V), with corresponding detection limits of 0.07-0.4 and 0.1-0.5 μg/l. The LCR for a 5-ml sample was 0.3-10 μg/l for As(V) and 0.2-20 μg/l for As(III + V). Sample throughput was 10-20 samples/h. The developed method has been effectively applied to tap water and mineral water samples, with recoveries ranging from 90 to 102% for 5-ml samples passed through the two columns.  相似文献

Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) technique was successfully used as a sample preparation method for graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS). In this extraction method, 500 μL methanol (disperser solvent) containing 34 μL carbon tetrachloride (extraction solvent) and 0.00010 g ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (chelating agent) was rapidly injected by syringe into the water sample containing cadmium ions (interest analyte). Thereby, a cloudy solution formed. The cloudy state resulted from the formation of fine droplets of carbon tetrachloride, which have been dispersed, in bulk aqueous sample. At this stage, cadmium reacts with ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate, and therefore, hydrophobic complex forms which is extracted into the fine droplets of carbon tetrachloride. After centrifugation (2 min at 5000 rpm), these droplets were sedimented at the bottom of the conical test tube (25 ± 1 μL). Then a 20 μL of sedimented phase containing enriched analyte was determined by GF AAS.Some effective parameters on extraction and complex formation, such as extraction and disperser solvent type and their volume, extraction time, salt effect, pH and concentration of the chelating agent have been optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the enrichment factor 125 was obtained from only 5.00 mL of water sample. The calibration graph was linear in the rage of 2-20 ng L−1 with detection limit of 0.6 ng L−1. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.s) for ten replicate measurements of 20 ng L−1 of cadmium was 3.5%. The relative recoveries of cadmium in tap, sea and rivers water samples at spiking level of 5 and 10 ng L−1 are 108, 95, 87 and 98%, respectively. The characteristics of the proposed method have been compared with cloud point extraction (CPE), on-line liquid-liquid extraction, single drop microextraction (SDME), on-line solid phase extraction (SPE) and co-precipitation based on bibliographic data. Therefore, DLLME combined with GF AAS is a very simple, rapid and sensitive method, which requires low volume of sample (5.00 mL).  相似文献

The determination of trace concentrations of Hg in water samples by the use of electrolytic cold vapor generation (ECVG) system and AFS was studied. Several buffer solutions were used and the detection limits with these systems were found to be by a factor of 1–2 lower than in the conventional electrolytic cold vapor generation system. Comparing with the traditional inorganic acid, phosphate buffer solution (PBS) increased the signal intensity of Hg vapor from electrolytic generation on Pt cathode and reduced the impact of cathode erosion on the stability of signal intensity. Moreover, buffer solution has better interference tolerance. The effects of the electrolytic conditions and interference ions on the ECVG have been studied. Under optimized conditions and with PBS as catholyte the detection limit for Hg was found to be 0.27 ng L−1. The relative standard deviation was 2.8% for 11 consecutive measurements of 1 μg L−1 Hg. This method has been applied in the determination of inorganic Hg in Yangtze River water.  相似文献

A simple, rapid and sensitive method is proposed for selective determination of ultra trace amounts of gold from different samples. The method is based on highly efficient separation and pre-concentration of gold by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction of gold followed by its determination with graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The pre-concentration procedure results in quantitative extraction of gold by victoria blue R from a 10-mL sample into fine droplets of chlorobenzene, with a sedimented volume of 25 microL. Then, 20 microL of 0.04% Pd(NO3)2, as chemical modifier, followed by 10 microL of the sedimented phase were consecutively pipetted into the same auto-sampler device and the content is injected into the graphite tube and the gold content is determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. After optimizing the extraction conditions and instrumental parameters, a pre-concentration factor of about 388 is obtained for the system. The analytical curve is linear in a concentration range of 0.03-0.5 ng mL(-1). The detection limit and relative standard deviation are 0.005 ng mL(-1) and 4.2%, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the extraction and determination of gold in tap water and silicate ore samples.  相似文献

The dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) combined with high performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for the speciation of mercury in water samples was described. Firstly methylmercury (MeHg+) and mercury (Hg2+) were complexed with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate, and then the complexes were extracted into carbon tetrachloride by using DLLME. Under the optimized conditions, the enrichment factors of 138 and 350 for MeHg+ and Hg2+ were obtained from only 5.00 mL sample solution. The detection limits of the analytes (as Hg) were 0.0076 ng mL−1 for MeHg+ and 0.0014 ng mL−1 for Hg2+, respectively. The relative standard deviations for ten replicate measurements of 0.5 ng mL−1 MeHg+ and Hg2+ were 6.9% and 4.4%, respectively. Standard reference material of seawater (GBW(E)080042) was analyzed to verify the accuracy of the method and the results were in good agreement with the certified values. Finally, the developed method was successfully applied for the speciation of mercury in three environmental water samples.  相似文献
