A solution of the coupled nonstationary boundary-value problem of turbulent flow around a flat heat-conducting plate of finite
thickness having local regions with volume heat sources is given. For modeling the heat transfer in the boundary layer, thek-ε turbulence model is used. It is shown that the thermal conductivity of the plate material significantly affects the surface
distributions of both temperature and local friction.

This paper describes a photothermoelastic method for simulating, in a three-dimensional model, the temperature gradients that occur in structural parts subjected to internal heating such as is frequently encountered in certain areas of nuclear-reactor design. The method is applied to a plate which has a step change in thickness and sustains a nonlinear temperature gradient through its thickness. The shapes of the gradients simulate internal heating of the plate material. The values for the highest stresses on the free surfaces of the plate, within the thickness of the plate, and at the root of the step are presented in graphical form for a range of internal heat-generated conditions. Thermal-stress-concentration factors are presented for a step change in the thickness of a plate under this type of heating. Its design significance is discussed. The same stress and stress-concentration values are shown to also apply to nonnuclear problems. During shut-down in conventional thermal plants, when the walls sustain linear steady-state temperature drops across their thicknesses, temperature profiles exactly analogous to those presented in this paper occur. The stresses can then be computed from the values presented here. 相似文献

The asymptotic behavior of the solution of the bending problem of plates with local shape perturbations (connections, ribs, holes comparable in size with the plate thickness) is studied in a three-dimensional formulation using the local perturbation method. The problem is completely decomposed into a two-dimensional problem of plate theory and local problems describing the threedimensional stress-strain state in the perturbation region. The results of a numerical solution of the problem of the unsteady convective motion generated in a fluid layer by the formation at the initial instant of a heated zone in the form of a thin cylindrical column, extending from the surface into the interior of the fluid, are presented. The problem is formulated with allowance for both thermocapillary and thermogravitational convection. When a rectangular plate of incompressible neo-Hookean elastic material is subjected to a thrust, bifurcations of the flexural or barreling types become possible at certain critical values of the compression ratio. The states of pure homogeneous deformation corresponding to these critical compression ratios are states of neutral equilibrium. Their stability is investigated on the basis of an energy criterion, without restriction on the thickness of the plate.The critical state corresponding to the lowest order flexural mode is found to be stable (unstable) if the aspect ratio (thickness/length) is less (greater) than about 0.2. Agreement with the classical Euler theory is established in the limiting case of small aspect ratio. 相似文献

The stability of an infinite viscoelastic plate on an elastic foundation in a viscous incompressible flow is studied. The
Navier-Stokes system is linearized for an exponential velocity profile. The problem is reduced by a Fourier-Laplace transform
to a system of ordinary differential equations, whose solution is found in the form of convergent series. The roots of the
dispersion relation that characterize the stability of the system are found numerically. The effect of the viscosities of
the fluid and the plate on the stability of the waves propagating upstream and downstream is studied. The results are compared
with available data on the stability of a viscoelastic plate in an ideal fluid flow.

The stability problem of a rectangular plate undergoing uniform biaxial in-plane tensile strain is solved using the three-dimensional
equations of nonlinear elasticity. The surfaces of the plate are stress-free, and special boundary conditions that allow one
to separate variables in the linearized equilibrium equations are specified on the lateral surfaces. For three particular
models of incompressible materials, the critical curves are constructed and the instability region is determined in the plane
of the loading parameters (the multiplicities of elongations of the plate material in the unperturbed equilibrium state).
The numerical results show that for thin plates loaded by tensile stresses, the size and shape of the instability region depend
only slightly on the relation among the length, width, and thickness of the plate. Based on the results obtained, a simple
approximate stability criterion is proposed for an elastic plate under tensile loads.
