In this paper, we study the spin chain and string excitation in the two-parameters q-deformed AdS3 × S3 proposed by Hoare [6]. We obtain the deformed spin chain model at the fast spin limit for choices of deformed parameters. General ansatz for giant magnons are studied in great detail and complicated dispersion relation is treated perturbatively. We also study several types of hanging string solutions and their charges and spins are analyzed numerically. At last, we explore its pp-wave limit and find its solution only depends on the difference of deformed parameters.  相似文献

It is shown that the finite size corrections to the spectrum of the giant magnon solution of classical string theory, computed using the uniform light-cone gauge, are gauge invariant and have physical meaning. This is seen in two ways: from a general argument where the single magnon is made gauge invariant by putting it on an orbifold as a wrapped state obeying the level matching condition as well as all other constraints, and by an explicit calculation where it is shown that physical quantum numbers do not depend on the uniform light-cone gauge parameter. The resulting finite size effects are exponentially small in the R-charge and the exponent (but not the prefactor) agrees with gauge theory computations using the integrable Hubbard model.  相似文献

We investigate extremal charged black hole solutions in the four-dimensional string frame Gauss-Bonnet gravity with the Maxwell field and the dilaton. Without curvature corrections, the extremal electrically charged dilatonic black holes have singular horizon and zero Bekenstein entropy. When the Gauss-Bonnet term is switched on, the horizon radius expands to a finite value provided curvature corrections are strong enough. Below a certain threshold value of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling the extremal black hole solutions cease to exist. Since decreasing Gauss-Bonnet coupling corresponds to decreasing string coupling g s , the situation can tentatively be interpreted as classical indication on the black hole—string transition. Previously the extremal dilaton black holes were studied in the Einstein-frame version of the Gauss-Bonnet gravity. Here we work in the string frame version of the theory with the S-duality symmetric dilaton function as required by the heterotic string theory. The article is published in the original.  相似文献

We extend recent work on string solutions within the SU(2) Higgs model by showing that another class of solutions exists with equally interesting properties: the tension is finite and the string posseses plus one unit of flux.  相似文献

In this paper we consider configurations of monopoles with multiple magnetic charge in nonabelian gauge theory. Explicit gauge transformations are constructed which eliminate the string singularities for single monopoles of multiple magnetic charge, and for an arbitrary number of monopoles lying along a line. The question of finding nonsingular solutions is discussed.  相似文献

Motivated by the possibility of a finite theory of gravity provided by superstrings in ten space-time dimensions, we analyze the problem of space compactification in the context of string dynamics. Such an analysis is hampered by conceptual and technical problems, stemming from the existence of the quantum string's own graviton mode on the one hand, and from Witten's observation of anomalies in a not specially chosen curves space-time on the other hand. Still, in the context of a classical local field presentation of string theory à la Nambu and Hosotani, supplemented by gravitational and Kalb-Ramond interactions, we are able to find solutions with space compactification. It is the antisymmetric tensor zero modes that dictate this compactification towards three space-time dimensions for ordinary strings or towards four or five space-time dimensions for superstrings.  相似文献

The Bonnor-Swaminarayan solutions are boost-rotation symmetric space-times which describe the motion of pairs of accelerating particles which are possibly connected to strings (struts). In an explicit and unified form we present a generalised class of such solutions with a few new observations. We then investigate the possible limits in which the accelerations become unbounded. The resulting space-times represent spherical impulsive gravitational waves with snapping or expanding cosmic strings. We also obtain an exact solution for a snapping string of finite length.  相似文献

String cosmology
In this review, we discuss various cosmological issues related to our Universe from a string theoretic perspective. We analyse the pre-big bang cosmological scenario which appears naturally in this context due to the existence of scale factor duality symmetry in string theory. We then discuss some of the attractive and problematic features of this scenario. Finally, we introduce a method which is powerful enough to search for cosmological solutions in various low energy limits of string theories.  相似文献

There have been recent advances in the construction of algebraic curves for certain classes of string solutions in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In this paper we obtain the Lax operators and associated spectral curves for circular and folded string solutions in AdS 5 × S 5 . In addition, we provide an original approach for the reconstruction of string solutions in S3 from their corresponding curves.  相似文献

It is shown that the Type IIA superstring compactified on K3 has a smooth string soliton with the same zero mode structure as the heterotic string compactified on a four-torus, thus providing new evidence for a conjectured exact duality between the two six-dimensional string theories. The chiral worldsheet bosons arise as zero modes of Ramond-Ramond fields of the IIA string theory and live on a signature (20,4) even, self-dual lattice. Stable, finite loops of soliton string provide the charged Ramond-Ramond states necessary for enhanced gauge symmetries at degeneration points of the K3 surface. It is also shown that Type IIB strings toroidally compactified to six dimensions have a multiplet of string solutions with Type II worldsheets.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the relativistic quantum dynamics of spin-0 massive charged particles in a Gödel-type space–time with electromagnetic interactions. We derive the radial wave equation of the Klein–Gordon equation with an internal magnetic flux field and Coulomb-type potential in the Som–Raychaudhuri space–time with cosmic string. We solve this equation and analyze the analog effect in relation to the Aharonov–Bohm effect for bound states.  相似文献

In a recent essay, we discussed the possibility of using polymer sizing to model the collapse of a single, long excited string to a black hole. In this letter, we apply this idea to bring further support to string/black hole correspondence. In particular, we reproduce Horowitz and Polchinki's results for self-gravitating fundamental strings and speculate on the nature of the quantum degrees of freedom of black holes in string theory.  相似文献

We analyze the energy spectrum and the wave function of a particle subjected to magnetic field in the spinning cosmic string space–time and investigate the influence of the spinning reference frame and topological defect on the system. To do this we solve Schrödinger equation in the spinning cosmic string background. In our work, instead of using an approximation in the calculations, we use the quasi-exact ansatz approach which gives the exact solutions for some primary levels.  相似文献

In order to gain insight into normal modes of realistic radiating systems, we study the simple model problem of a finite string and a semi-infinite string coupled by a spring. As expected there is a family of modes which are basically the modes of the finite string slowly damped by the radiation of energy to infinity on the semi-infinite string. But we also study another family of modes, found by Dyson in a different model problem, which are strongly damped modes of the semi-infinite string itself. These may be analogous to the modes of black holes, and they are likely to be present in relativistic stars as well. The question of whether the instability in these modes which Dyson found is present in realistic stars remains open.  相似文献

In this study, we research a higher dimensional flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker(FRW) universe in Barber's second theory when strange quark matter(SQM) and normal matter(NM) are attached to the string cloud and domain walls. We obtain zero string tension density for this model. We obtain dust quark matter solutions. This result agrees with Kiran and Reddy, Krori et al, Sahoo and Mishra and Reddy. In our solutions the quark matter transforms to other particles over time. We also obtain two different solutions for domain walls with quark and normal matters by using a deceleration parameter. Also, the features of the obtained solutions are discussed and some physical and kinematical quantities are generalized and discussed. Our results are consistent with Yilmaz, Adcox et al and Back et al in four and five dimensions.  相似文献

From any solution of the classical Yang-Mills equations, we define a string wave functional based on the Wilson loop integral. Its precise definition is given by replacing the string by a finite set of N points, and taking the limit N → ∞. We show that this functional satisfies the Schrödinger equation of the relativistic dual string to leading order in N. We speculate about the relevance of this object to the quantum problem.  相似文献

A class of exact solutions of the dispersionless Toda hierarchy constrained by a string equation is obtained. These solutions represent deformations of analytic curves with a finite number of nonzero harmonic moments. The corresponding τ-functions are determined and the emergence of cusps is studied.  相似文献

We study rigid string solutions rotating in AdS5×S5AdS5×S5 background. For particular values of the parameters of the solutions we find multispin solutions corresponding to giant magnons and single spike strings. We present an analysis of the dispersion relations in the case of three spin solutions distributed only in S5S5 and the case of one spin in AdS5AdS5 and two spins in S5S5. The possible relation of these string solutions to gauge theory operators and spin chains are briefly discussed.  相似文献

We show that polarization-dependent string-string scattering provides new evidence for the identification of the Dabholkar-Harvey (DH) string solution with the heterotic string itself. First, we construct excited versions of the DH solution which carry arbitrary left-moving waves yet are annihilated by half the supersymmetries. These solutions correspond in a natural way to Bogomolny-bound-saturating excitations of the ground state of the heterotic string. When the excited string solutions are compactified to four dimensions, they reduce to Sen's family of extremal black hole solutions of the toroidally compactified heterotic string. We then study the large impact parameter scattering of two such string solutions. We develop methods which go beyond the metric on moduli space approximation and allow us to read off the subleading polarization-dependent scattering amplitudes. We find perfect agreement with heterotic string tree amplitude predictions for the scattering of corresponding string states. Taken together, these results clearly identify the string states responsible for Sen's extremal black hole entropy. We end with a brief discussion of implications for the black hole information problem.  相似文献
