Several nitro aromatic compounds bridged by an oxygen atom have been synthesized and their linear and nonlinear optical properties have been investigated. In one of the compounds (1), a powder SHG efficiency of 6.2 times of urea was observed while its absorption lies in the UV region. The highest molecular hyperpolarizability β, measured was 230×10−30 for a compound (8f) with increased conjugation. Thermal stability of these compounds has been checked using differential scanning calorimetry and the decomposition temperature (Td) was found to be high and lying between 266-298 °C. These molecules have potential importance as thermally stable, visible-transparent second order NLO materials. 相似文献

The chemical preparation, crystal structure and infrared spectroscopic characterization of the triaqua(4-amino-6-methoxypyrimidine) cuprate(II) sulfate, [Cu(C_5H_7N_3)(H_2O)_3]SO_4, is reported. The compound crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric orthorhombic space group P2_12_12_1 with lattice parameters a = 7.9025(3), b = 11.1189(4), c = 12.9720(4) , V = 1139.81(7) ~3 and Z = 4. The Cu(II) cation is fivecoordinated, in an early half-way between square pyramidal and trigonal bipyramidal fashion, by two nitrogen atoms of the 4-amino-6-methoxypyrimidine ligand and three water oxygen atoms. In the atomic arrangement, the organic ligands and the 5-connected Cu centers are linked with each other to give a 1-D corrugated hybrid chain running along the b-axis direction. The chains are interconnected by the SO_4~(2-) anions via O–H...O, O–H...S, C–H...O and N–H...O hydrogen bonds to form layers spreading parallel to the(011) plane. The vibrational absorption bands were identified by infrared spectroscopy. Quantitative measurements of the second harmonic generation(SHG) of a powdered sample at 1064 nm were performed and a relative efficiency of 5.2 times the KDP standard was observed. Magnetic properties were also defined to characterize the complex. Magnetic measurements revealed that this material had a onedimensional antiferromagnetic character. In this paper, we report the electronic structure and optical properties of Al-substituted ε-Fe2O3. First-principles calculations of the periodic structure of ε-Al0.5Fe1.5O3 reveal that the band gaps (Eg) are 2.6 (480 nm) and 2.5 eV (500 nm) for the up-spin and down-spin transitions, respectively. To investigate the electronic structure, a highly dispersed polymer solution composed of ε-Al0.66Fe1.34O3 nanoparticles was prepared. This solution is light orange in color; the absorption coefficients (ε) are small with values of 810 and 260 dm3 mol–1 cm–1 at 3.1 (400 nm) and 2.6 eV (480 nm), respectively. The reason why Al-substituted ε-Fe2O3 is so light in color can be understood by the disappearance of the energy states in the conduction and valence bands, which originates from the tetrahedral D site. Such a light-colored magnetic material should be useful for colored magnetic toners for color printing. 相似文献

Recent advances in poled amorphous polymers for second-order nonlinear optics are discussed with emphasis on stabilizing the frozen-in nonlinearity via chemical crosslinking under electric fields. Specific examples of a linear polymer and a crosslinked polymer, both with nitroaniline-type chromophores covalently attached as side groups, are presented and compared in their glass transition behavior, linear optical properties, poling dynamics, and stability of frozen-in nonlinearity. It is demonstrated that by employing chemical crosslinking under electric fields one can prepare highly efficient and stable poled polymers that exhibit no decay in nonlinearity at ambient conditions and no apparent tendency of decay even at 85°C as well as excellent optical properties. The historical development of organic materials for second-order nonlinear optics and recent advances in device fabrication based on poled polymers are also discussed briefly. 相似文献

The functionalized linker SNDC (4,8-disulfonyl-2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate) has been incorporated into 2D extended structures featuring FeII or CoII. These materials are isostructural and exhibit coordination via both the carboxylate and sulfonate groups of the SNDC linker. The variable temperature magnetic behavior of the FeII and CoII materials has also been measured. A simplified model of these systems implies weak (|J| < 5 cm–1) antiferromagnetic coupling, as is expected for a superexchange mechanism operating through the carboxylate paddlewheels. The combination of functionalized linkers, such as SNDC, with paramagnetic metal centers is a promising pathway towards functionalized materials, and the coordination polymers reported join a small class of known materials featuring SNDC. 相似文献

Three A-shaped nitropyrimidine derivatives with benzyl or furfuryl as bridge havebeen synthesized. They possess shorter absorption wavelengths (λ_(cut-off))<400 nm) andhigher βμ values (around 10~(-46) esu). The second order nonlinear optical coefficient d_(33) ofpoled BNPMOPMDA/PMMA doped film is 1.2-2.0×10~(-9) esu obtained by in-situ SHGmeasurements. Quadratic nonlinear optical properties of ruthenium (II)-bipyridine complexes in crystalline powders
Quadratic nonlinear optical properties for the crystalline powders of two types of ruthenium-bipyridine [Ru(bipy)3] complexes were investigated. The nonlinear optical processes markedly depended on the molecular structures of the ruthenium complexes. Second harmonic generation (SHG) and very weak two-photon emission were observed for the alkylated ruthenium-bipyridine compexes with two long alkyl chains attached via amide bonds (RuCnB), whereas only two-photon emission was observed for Ru(bipy)3. The existence of two amide bonds in one bipyridine ligand for RuCnB complexes most probably enhanced the molecular hyperpolarizability as compared with Ru(bipy)3. The SHG intensity from RuCnB complexes increased in the order RuC18B < RuC12B < RuC16B. The order of SHG intensity from RuCnB was ascribed to the difference in size of each crystalline powder estimated by X-ray diffraction methods. 相似文献

In order to take advantage of hybrid materials in their structural diversity and richness of their photoelectric properties, the research in polar materials has been extended to metal-organic compounds in recent years. The main synthesis strategy is to use the molecular dynamics. Here, we describe that the second harmonic generation (SHG) switching effect can be effectively achieved by combination of coordination distortion of metal ions with s2 electrons and molecular dynamics. We synthesized a noncentrosymmetric complex, (1S,4S)-(+)-2-aza-5-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane)2[SbCl5], and found that it undergoes an isomorphic phase transition at 382 K. Accompanying the phase transition, the SHG experiences a switching process, and its strength changes from 0.2 times of that of KDP to only noise level. Systematic characterization reveals that the significant change of coordination distortion of the Sb3+ and the change of thermal motion of organic cations lead to the SHG switching effect. This finding shows that the combination of lone pair electron effect of metal ion and molecular dynamics characteristics would be a feasible strategy in development of polar hybrid materials. 相似文献

Crystals of two alkali-metal tin(IV) arsenates, KSnOAsO4 and RbSnOAsO4, were grown from a flux and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data: RSnOAsO4, orthorhombic, Pna21 (No. 33), a = 13.406(3) Å, b = 6.678(1) Å, c = 10.921(2) Å, Z = 8, R = 0.037 for 1173 independent reflections with I > 2.5ó(l); RbSnOAsO4, as above except a = 13.567(3) Å, b = 6.791( 1) Å, c = 10.891(2) Å, R = 0.035 for 1958 independent reflections. The two compounds are isostructural with the nonlinear optical material KTiOPO4. The oxygen frameworks of both tin compounds approximate closely to a centrosymmetric arrangement, as indicated from the analysis of atomic coordinates. Second harmonics were generated in powdered RbSnOAsO4 to confirm the absence of a center of symmetry in the structure. 相似文献

Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film of a hemicyanine derivative, (E)-N-hexadecyl-4-[2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl)ethenyl]pyridinium bromide (Hc) was fabricated. The Langmuir film of Hc exhibited good transfer behaviour. Optical second harmonic generation from the LB film was measured. Macroscopic second-order susceptibilily, molecular hyperpolarizability and tilt angle for the molecules on a substrate were estimated to be 7.06×10-6 esu, 6.47×10-27 esu,and 31.6° respectively. 相似文献

We report a magnetic film based on crystallographically oriented metal-substituted ε-iron oxide, ε-Ga0.45Fe1.55O3. This film was prepared by mixing nanoparticles and a vehicle resin under an applied external magnetic field. The a-axis of the orthorhombic crystal structure with a Pna21 space group is oriented out of the plane of the film. The degree of orientation is very high with a Lotgering factor of 0.94. The angular dependence of the magnetic hysteresis loops at room temperature shows a rectangular hysteresis loop with a coercive field of 9.7 kOe and a magnetization of 30.4 emu g–1 at 7 T (tesla) when the external field is along the out-of-plane direction with respect to the plane of the film, indicating that the easy axis corresponds to the crystallographic a-axis. To understand the origin of the high degree of orientation, we calculated the magnitude of the magnetic coupling between the ε-Ga0.45Fe1.55O3 magnetic nanoparticles based on the magnetic dipole–dipole interaction. The theoretical model considering uniaxial magnetic anisotropy reproduces the angular dependence of the magnetic loops well. 相似文献

Polymers made of renewable raw materials are attracting increasing interest because of diminishing oil deposits and the pro-ecological character of such polymers. The aim of our study was to create composites of polycaprolactone (PLC) and epoxidised natural rubber (ENR) using innovative natural additives. The cross-linking of composites was performed with the use of amino acids, flavonoids and fatty acids to eliminate sulphur and peroxides that are not environmentally friendly. Some of the cross-linkers used fulfilled the role of antioxidants. Based on WAXD, SEM and DSC examinations, we found good miscibility and compatibility of the polymers. All the innovative compounds used appeared to be good cross-linkers. The best ENR/PCL composite cross-linking effect was obtained with the use of quercetin, a flavonoid that also appeared to be a good anti-ageing substance. The mechanical properties of the composites were satisfactory. Their tensile strength ranged from 10 to 22 MPa at elongation in the range of 292–436%. The ENR/PCL composites were more thermally stable than ENR vulcanisates due to their improved resistance to oxidation. Undoubtedly, these composites exhibit the features of innovative pro-ecological products.
