We report the specification of a compact and stable side diode-pumped Q-switched pulsed Nd:YAG laser. We experimentally study and compare the performance of the pulsed Nd:YAG laser in the free-running and Q-switched modes at different pulse repetition rates from 1 Hz to 100 Hz. The laser output energy is stabilized by using a special configuration of the optical resonator. In this laser, an unsymmetrical concave-concave resonator is used and this structure helps the mode volume to be nearly fixed when the pulse repetition rate is increased. According to the experimental results in the Q-switched operation, the laser output energy is nearly constant around 70 mJ with an FWHM pulse width of 7 ns at 100 Hz. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency in the Q-switched regime is 17.5%. 相似文献

A cw Raman laser based on a 100-m photonic crystal fibre is demonstrated with up to 3.8 W output power at the incident pump power of 12 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of about 31.6%.. The second order Stokes light, which is firstly reported in a cw photonic crystal fibre Raman laser, is obtained at 1183nm with an output power of 1.6 W and a slope efficiency of about 45.7%. 相似文献

The effect of output coupler reflectivity (or output coupling ratio) on the performance of a linear cavity Brillouin/erbium
fiber laser (BEFL) is demonstrated. The operating wavelength, output laser power and number of channels vary with changes
in the coupling ratio in the linear cavity system. The optimum BEFL operation is obtained with an output coupling of 40%,
i.e., 60% of the laser power is allowed to oscillate in the cavity. A stable laser comb consisting of up to 40 channels with
line spacings of approximately 0.09 nm are obtained at the Brillouin pump and 980 nm pump with powers of 2.5 mW and 100 mW,
respectively. The linear cavity BEFL has the potential to be used in inexpensive wavelength division multiplexing system.

We have developed a pulsed Yb:YAG thin disk green laser for pumping a 100 kHz and 10 W femtosecond laser. We optimized numerically
and experimentally the open duration of the acousto-optic (AO) Q-switcher and the internal SHG method, generating stable output
energy at a 100 kHz repetition rate. We demonstrated a 515 nm output power of over 80 W with a pulse-to-pulse stability of
less than 1% RMS with an LD power to green power conversion efficiency of 24%. With the developed green laser, we obtained
16 W of a Ti:sapphire laser in a cavity dumped mode.

在半导体抽运的全固态激光器中,激光晶体上的热畸变限制了激光器在大功率下输出时保持高光束质量的能力。板条结构的固体激光器具有优异的散热能力,再配合部分端面抽运以及稳一非稳柱面混合腔的使用,使大功率高光束质量的激光输出成为可能。在德国EdgeWave GmbH进行的对这一技术的合作研究中,利用不到100mm的腔长,在Nd:YVO4板条激光器上获得了110W近衍射极限的1.06μm连续激光输出,这时在非稳腔方向上的光束传播因子M^2为1.3。在稳腔方向上为1.5。通过对输出激光进行空间滤波切除腔镜造成的衍射旁瓣后,50W输出时M^2的典型值在非稳腔和稳腔方向上分别为1.09和1.2。 相似文献

A flashlamp-pumped dye laser with an average output power of 6.6 W at 100 Hz repetition rate is described, which utilizes thyristors as switching elements instead of the normally used spark gaps. Using a simmering-mode operation of the flashlamps, no high voltage sparks are required to initiate the discharge even at low capacitor voltages. In this way the amplitude and time jitter of the laser output pulse are decreased and the life and reliability of the laser considerably increased. 相似文献

In the pursuit of increased far infrared (FIR) laser output power and higher beam quality, we have designed, fabricated and applied hybrid metal mesh couplers. Fourier Transform Spectroscopy was performed to evaluate the spectral characteristics of the couplers. With smallest mesh features of 1.0 μm, these couplers, fabricated in a class 100 clean-room, exhibited remarkably wide bandpass characteristics. Application in an Apollo Model 122 FIR laser system resulted in high output powers on many lines in the 100–500 μm range, with only moderate pump powers (10–60 W). A careful analysis of the FIR laser beam showed undiffracted Gaussian beam profiles with low divergence angles. 相似文献

We propose and study numerically an all-normal-dispersion Ytterbium-doped figure-eight fiber laser scheme for generation of
high-energy pulses. The monotonous pulse stretching that takes place in the fiber under the combined actions of normal dispersion
and nonlinear Kerr effect is compensated by the amplitude modulation effect of a bandpass filter inserted in the ring section
of the laser. The Nonlinear Optical Loop Mirror (NOLM) also contributes to shorten the pulses. An output coupler with a large
output coupling ratio is inserted at the amplifier output in order to extract the maximal energy from the laser. A short segment
of Ytterbium-doped fiber compensates for the losses. Stable single-pulse operation is predicted over a wide range of values
of the laser parameters. If the laser parameters (ring and NOLM length, dispersion, filter bandwidth, output coupling ratio)
are optimized, pulses with several tens of nanojoules energy are readily obtained, with picosecond duration and a large positive
chirp which is linear near the peak. If small-signal gain is large enough, the use of very large output coupling ratios opens
the way to pulse energies close to 100 nJ and, after dechirping outside the laser, to durations of ˜50 fs and peak powers

High power continuous wave operation of a diode face-pumped thin Nd:YAG slab laser is reported. A novel pumping geometry for
a thin Nd:YAG slab using cylindrical lens duct coupled diode laser stacks is demonstrated. In a close-coupled resonator, a
maximum laser output power of 260 W in multimode operation is obtained. This corresponds to a slope efficiency of 34% and
an optical-to-optical efficiency of 27%, respectively. In high-brightness operation, a polarized laser output of 70 W has
been obtained with a beam quality factor close to 4 in both directions. The polarization contrast ratio is >100.

The authors report on laser micro-cutting results for stainless steel foils with the aid of a 100 W fiber laser. This novel laser source combines a high output power in relation to conventional laser sources for micro-processing applications with an excellent beam quality (M2=1.1). Different material thicknesses were evaluated (100 μm to 300 μm). Processing was carried out with cw operation of the laser source, and with nitrogen and oxygen as assisting gases. Besides the high processing rate of oxygen assisted cutting, a better cutting performance in terms of a lower kerf width was obtained. PACS 42.82.Cr; 42.62.Cf; 81.05.Bx 相似文献

A new type of single-frequency solid state laser for achieving a highly stable second-harmonic generation in a simple configuration was developed using a quite thin laser medium. A 100-μm thick Nd:YVO4 crystal with one side coated for high reflection in a 50-mm long cavity which serves as automatic gain discriminator was end-pumped by a laser diode. Single-frequency output powers of 100 mW and 17 mW were obtained for fundamental and second-harmonic waves respectively by 1-W excitation. No chaotic fluctuation was observed with the frequency-doubled output. 相似文献
