On the Norm of Elementary Operators

The norm problem is considered for elementary operators of theform U_a,b: AA,x axb+bxa (a,bA) in the special case when A isa subalgebra of the algebra of bounded operators on a Banachspace. In particular, the lower estimate || is established when the Banach space is a Hilbertspace and A is the algebra of all bounded linear operators.     

Norm Attaining Operators and Pseudospectrum

It is shown that if 1 < p < ∞ and X is a subspace or a quotient of an ℓ_p-direct sum of finite dimensional Banach spaces, then for any compact operator T on X such that ∥I + T∥ > 1, the operator I + T attains its norm. A reflexive Banach space X and a bounded rank one operator T on X are constructed such that ∥I + T∥  > 1 and I + T does not attain its norm. The author would like to thank E. Norm Estimates for Commutators of Operators

Given two self-adjoint Hilbert space operators A, B, and a continuousfunction f, we prove several inequalities of the form ||f(A)X–Xf(B)||C(f)||AX–XB|| involving the L_p-norm of the derivative f' and the Besov B^r_,1-normof f.     

Riemann-Stieltjes算子的本性范数

本文建立在从Hardy空间H~p到Zygmund型空间Z_μ的Riemann-Stieltjes算子I_(g,φ)和J_(g,φ)的有界性和紧性的特征的基础上,构造了H~p中一些检验函数,运用本性范数的定义与解析函数的性质,给出了算子I_(g,φ)和J_(g,φ)本性范数的估计.     

Power-Bounded Operators and Related Norm Estimates

It is considered whether implies that the operator T is power-bounded. It is shown that thisis so if L<1/e, but it does not necessarily hold if L=1/e.As part of the methods, a result of Esterle is improved, showingthat if (T)={1} and T{}I, then The constant 1/e is sharp. Finally, a way to create many generalizationsof Esterle's result is described, and also many conditions aregiven on an operator which imply that its norm is equal to itsspectral radius.     

Essential Norm of Toeplitz Operators and Hankel Operators on the Weighted Bergman Space

In this paper, we show that on the weighted Bergman space of the unit disk the essential norm of a noncompact Hankel operator equals its distance to the set of compact Hankel operators and is realized by infinitely many compact Hankel operators, which is analogous to the theorem of Axler, Berg, Jewell and Shields on the Hardy space in Axler et al. (Ann Math 109:601–612, 1979); moreover, the distance is realized by infinitely many compact Hankel operators with symbols continuous on the closure of the unit disk and vanishing on the unit circle.

The aim of this paper is to give several strong type and weak type weighted norm inequalities for the potential type operator TФ.

In this paper, we obtain Lipschitz and BMO norm inequalities for the composition G ∘ T of the homotopy operator T and Green’s operator G applied to differential forms. We also investigate the relationship among Lipschitz norm, BMO norm and L ^s norm.     

Two-Weight Norm Inequality for Calderón-Zygmund Operators

Sufficient conditions on weight functions u(·) and v(·) are given so that any Calderón-Zygmund operator is bounded from the weighted Lebesgue space Lvp into Lup.     

Certain Norm Related Quantities of Unbounded Linear Operators

Certain norm related functions of linear operators are considered in the very general setting of not necessarily continuous linear operators in normed spaces. These are shown to be closely related to the theory of precompact, strictly cosingular and a class of Φ_? type operators in addition to having applications to perturbation theory. We also obtain some basic continuity and precompactness properties of linear operators in normed spaces which are expressed in terms of the functions under consideration.     

Norm Estimates for Multiplication Operators in Hilbert Algebras

In this paper, it is proved that for the bilinear operator defined by the operation of multiplication in an arbitrary associative algebra with unit over the fields or , the infimum of its norms with respect to all scalar products in this algebra (with ) is either infinite or at most . Sufficient conditions for this bound to be not less than are obtained. The finiteness of this bound for infinite-dimensional Grassmann algebras was first proved by Kupsh and Smolyanov (this was used for constructing a functional representation for Fock superalgebras).

本文研究单位圆盘上Dirichlet型空间非紧Toeplitz算子的本性范数, 它事实上等于到紧Toeplitz算子集的距离. 并且这个距离可由无限多个紧Toeplitz算子来刻画, 这个结果与加权Bergman空间情形的类似.
