The nonstationary indentation of a rigid blunt indenter into an elastic layer is studied. An approach to solving a mixed initial-boundary-value
problem with an unknown moving boundary is developed. The problem is reduced to an infinite system of integral equations and
the equation of motion of the indenter. The system is solved numerically. The analytical solution of the nonmixed problem
is found for the initial stage of the indentation process

Summary The steady-state response of an elastic beam on a visco-elastic layer to a uniformly moving constant load is investigated.
As a method of investigation the concept of “equivalent stiffness” of the layer is used. According to this concept, the layer
is replaced by a 1D continuous foundation with a complex stiffness, which depends on the frequency and the wave number of
the bending waves in the beam. This stiffness is analyzed as a function of the phase velocity of the waves. It is shown that
the real part of the stiffness decreases severely as the phase velocity tends to a critical value, a value determined by the
lowest dispersion branch of the layer. As the phase velocity exceeds the critical value, the imaginary part of the equivalent
stiffness grows substantially. The dispersion relation for bending waves in the beam is studied to analyze the effect of the
layer depth on the critical (resonance) velocity of the load. It is shown that the critical velocity is in the order of the
Rayleigh wave velocity. The smaller the layer depth, the higher the critical velocity. The effect of viscosity in the layer
on the resonance vibrations is studied. It is shown that the deeper the layer, the smaller this effect.

The nonstationary indentation of a blunt rigid body into an elastic layer is studied. The general formulation of the problem
includes different boundary conditions in the contact area and on the free surface of the layer. The simplified nonmixed problem
that arises at the early stage of interaction and allows obtaining approximate results for later times is solved exactly.
The solution obtained is compared with that for the plane case

The plane problem of the small steady-state oscillations of a horizontal cylinder arbitrarily located in a three-layer fluid whose upper and lower layers are homogeneous and whose middle layer is linearly stratified is considered in the linear formulation using the Boussinesq approximation. The fluid is assumed to be ideal and incompressible. The method of mass sources distributed along the body contour is used in the internal wave generation regime and an integral equation for the fluid pressure is derived in the non-wave regime. The hydrodynamic load acting on the body is calculated as a function of the oscillation frequency of the cylinder and its location. The results are compared with experimental data. 相似文献

Axisymmetric problem of a nonhomogeneous elastic layer 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Summary The paper deals with a theoretical treatment of elastic behavior for a medium with nonhomogeneous materials property, which
is defined by the relation , i.e., shear modulus of elasticity G varies with the dimensionless axial coordinate by the power product form, arbitrarily. Fundamental differential equation for such nonhomogeneous medium has been already
proposed in [5]. It is given by a second-order partial differential equation. However, it was found that the fundamental equation
is not sufficient in general to solve several kinds of boundary-value problems. On the other hand, it is shown in the present
paper making use of the fundamental equations system for a nonhomogeneous medium, which has been proposed in our previous
paper [7], it is possible to solve axisymmetric problems for a thick plate (layer) subjected to an arbitrarily distributed
load or a concentrated load on its surfaces. Numerical calculations are carried out for several cases, taking into account
the variation of the nonhomogeneous parameter m. The numerical results for displacements stress and components are shown in graphical form.

In the present paper, we are interested in the propagation of Rayleigh waves in an isotropic elastic half-space coated with a thin isotropic elastic layer. The contact between the layer and the half space is assumed to be smooth. The main purpose of the paper is to establish an approximate secular equation of the wave. By using the effective boundary condition method, an approximate, yet highly accurate secular equation of fourth-order in terms of the dimensionless thickness of the layer is derived. From the secular equation obtained, an approximate formula of third-order for the velocity of Rayleigh waves is established. The approximate secular equation and the formula for the velocity obtained in this paper are potentially useful in many practical applications. 相似文献

In the present paper, the effective elastic moduli of an inhomogeneous medium with cracks are derived and obtained by taking
into account its microstructural properties which involve the shape, size and distribution of cracks and the interaction between
cracks. Numerical results for the periodic microstructure of different dimensions are presented. From the results obtained,
it can be found that the distribution of cracks has a significant effect on the effective elastic moduli of the material.

Summary This paper deals with the theoretical treatment of a three-dimensional elastic problem governed by a cylindrical coordinate
system (r,θ,z) for a medium with nonhomogeneous material property. This property is defined by the relation G(z)=G
0(1+z/a)
m
where G
0,a and m are constants, i.e., shear modulus of elasticity G varies arbitrarily with the axial coordinate z by the power product form. We propose a fundamental equation system for such nonhomogeneous medium by using three kinds of
displacement functions and, as an illustrative example, we apply them to an nonhomogeneous thick plate (layer) subjected to
an arbitrarily distributed load (not necessarily axisymmetric) on its surfaces. Numerical calculations are carried out for
several cases, taking into account the variation of the nonhomogeneous parameter m. The numerical results for displacement and stress components are shown graphically.

A mathematical formulation is given and a solution is found to the quasistatic contact problem of thermoelasticity for a rigid
heat-conducting punch moving over an elastic layer with fixed base. The interaction is accompanied by heating due to frictional
forces obeying Amonton’s law. The problem is reduced to a system of integral equations with time-varying limits of integration.
The structure of these equations depends on the type of thermal and physical conditions on the contact surface. An algorithm
is proposed for the numerical solution of this kind of equations. The variation in the contact pressure and contact area with
time is studied

The scattering of Love waves by an interface crack between a piezoelectric layer and an elastic substrate is investigated
by using the integral transform and singular integral equation techniques. The dynamic stress intensity factors of the left
and the right crack tips are determined. It is found from numerical calculation that the dynamic response of the system depends
significantly on the crack configuration, the material combination and the propagating direction of the incident wave. It
is expected that specifying an appropriate material combination may retard the growth of the crack for a certain crack configuration.

This paper considers a two-dimensional linear unsteady problem of rigid-stamp indentation on an elastic layer of finite thickness
lying on the surface of a compressible fluid of infinite depth. The Lamé equations holds for the elastic layer, and the wave
equation for the fluid velocity potential. Using the Laplace and Fourier transforms, the problem is reduced to determining
the contact stresses under the stamp from the solution of an integral equation of the first kind, whose kernel has a logarithmic
singularity. An asymptotic solution of the problem is constructed for large times of interaction.

Equations describing the propagation of waves of small but finite amplitude in a liquid with gas bubbles are derived. The
bubble distribution density is a continuous function of bubble size and spatial coordinates. It is found that, for a uniform
bubble distribution, the obtained equations become the Korteweg-de Vries, Kadomtsev-Petviashvili and Khokhlov-Zabolotskaya
equations.
