An explicit construction of a finitely presented semigroup whose central elements are in a one-to-one correspondence with the isotopy classes of unoriented links in the three-space is given, together with a finite presentation for the group of invertible elements of the semigroup. The group is presented by two generators and three relations. The commutator subgroup of the group is isomorphic to the braid group of infinite index. A similar construction is given for band-links. The kauffman theorems on the existence of polynomial band-link invariants satisfying some skein-relations are stated algebraically. New methods of solving nonlinear algebraic systems in two variables are suggested, which make it possible to find all zero-dimensional roots without knowing initial approximations. The first method reduces the solution of nonlinear algebraic systems to eigenvalue problems for a polynomial matrix pencil. The second method is based on the rank factorization of a two-parameter polynomial matrix, allowing, us to compute the GCD of a set of polynomials and all zero-dimensional roots of the GCD. This paper reports the development of a computer-based system for production scheduling in a dedicated FMS. The system is based on the state-operator framework commonly used in artificial intelligence. Such a system consists of three components: (i) a knowledge base of states, which describes both the current task domain situation and the goal to be achieved; (ii) a set of operators that are used to manipulate the knowledge base; and (iii) a control strategy to decide which operators to apply next and to resolve conflicts. Some of the interesting features of the scheduling system include: (i) the ability to detect resource conflicts; (ii) the ability to determine alternate routes for a given part in the event of a resource conflict; and (iii) the ability to amend plans if an alternate route is found. These features allow the system to take advantage of the flexible routing for parts that an FMS allows. The system has been implemented using the XLISP programming language. Implementation considerations are discussed. A small but comprehensive example is presented. Further research directions are suggested.  相似文献

We investigate the connections between continuous and discrete wavelet transforms on the basis of algebraic arguments. The discrete approach is formulated abstractly in terms of the action of a semidirect product A×Γ on ℓ2(Γ), with Γ a lattice and A an abelian semigroup acting of Γ. We show that several such actions may be considered, and investigate those which may be written as deformations of the canonical one. The corresponding deformed dilations (the pseudodilations) turn out to be characterized by compatibility relations of a cohomological nature. The connection with multiresolution wavelet analysis is based on families of pseudodilations of a different type.  相似文献

In the present paper, we suggest a new combinatorial approach to knot theory based on embeddings of knots and links into a union of three half-planes with the same boundary. The idea to embed knots into a “book” is quite natural and was considered already in [1]. Among recent papers on embeddings of knots into a book with infinitely many pages, we mention [2] and [3] (see also references therein). The restriction of the number of pages to three (or any other number ≥3) provides a convenient way toencode links by words in a finite alphabet. For those words, we give a finite set of local changes that realizes the equivalence of links by analogy with the Reidemeister moves for planar link diagrams. We present an approach to the Kervaire-invariant-one problem. The notion of the geometric (ℤ/2 ⨁ ℤ/2)-control of self-intersection of a skew-framed immersion and the notion of the (ℤ/2 ⨁ ℤ/4)-structure on the self-intersection manifold of a D 4-framed immersion are introduced. It is shown that a skew-framed immersion ↬ℝ n , 0 < qn (in the -range), admits a geometric (ℤ/2 ⨁ ℤ/2)-control if the characteristic class of the skew-framing of this immersion admits a retraction of order q, i.e., there exists a mapping such that this composition → ℝP is the characteristic class of the skew-framing of f. Using the notion of (ℤ/2 ⨁ ℤ/2)-control, we prove that for a sufficiently large n, n = 2 l 2, an arbitrarily immersed D 4-framed manifold admits in the regular cobordism class (modulo odd torsion) an immersion with a (ℤ/2 ⨁ ℤ/4)-structure. This is the third of a sequence of articles devoted to the presentation of a direct method of analysis recently developed by one of the authors. The approach is quite general, since it is applicable to any linear operator, symmetric or nonsymmetric, regardless of its type. In particular, the theory includes steady-state and time-dependent problems. In this article the method is applied to ordinary differential equations, which constitute a very convenient illustration of its application because the analysis can be carried out in an exhaustive manner. General algorithms which yield the exact values of the solution or its derivatives are obtained in this manner.  相似文献

We derive by a constructive method the hydrodynamic behavior of attractive processes with irreducible jumps and product invariant measures. Our approach relies on (i) explicit construction of Riemann solutions without assuming convexity, which may lead to contact discontinuities and (ii) a general result which proves that the hydrodynamic limit for Riemann initial profiles implies the same for general initial profiles. The k-step exclusion process provides a simple example. We also give a law of large numbers for the tagged particle in a nearest neighbor asymmetric k-step exclusion process.  相似文献
