The dependence of CS2 predissociation upon rotational quantum number K at vibrational levels below the barrier to linearity of the 1B2(1Sigmau+) state has been investigated in detail with laser spectroscopy, by using a heated supersonic source to increase the intensities of hot band transitions. Predissociation lifetimes were determined from rotational contour simulations of 13 vibronic bands in the CS photofragment excitation (PHOFEX) spectrum, each terminating at the same upper vibrational level but via transitions with different K number (K = 0, 1, 2, respectively). The rovibrational populations of CS fragment at these excitation bands were derived from the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectrum, and were used further to obtain the dissociation branching ratios S(1D)/S(3P) as well as the excess energy partitionings after dissociation. The lifetimes and the branching ratios were found to be sensitively dependent on quantum number K; the lifetime decreases with the increase of K, and the branching ratio increases with K. Analysis shows that quantum number K influences the S(1D) channel more effectively than the S(3P) channel. About 28 and 15% of the total available energy is taken up by the CS vibrational and rotational degrees of freedom, respectively. Systematic analysis indicates that the two electronic states interacting with 1B2(1Sigmau+) state should be bent, and the state correlating with S(1D) channel should be more bent.  相似文献

The predissociation dynamics of CS2 at the g vibrational level of the 1B2(1Σu+) state has been studied, by measuring the predissociation lifetimes from the photofragment CS excitation (PHOFEX) spectrum and the ro vibrational populations of CS fragment from the laser induced fluorescence(LIF) spectrum. It is found that the angular momentum quantum number K of the g level accelerates the dissociation speed of CS2 at the 1B2(1Σu+) state, and increases the branching ratio of S(1D2)/S(3PJ) for the two dissociation channels, CS(X 1Σ+)+S(1D2) and CS(X 1Σ+)+S(3PJ). The dissociation mechanism was discussed based upon the observations.  相似文献

The triplet potential energy surface of the O((3)P) + CS(2) reaction is investigated by using various quantum chemical methods including CCSD(T), QCISD(T), CCSD, QCISD, G3B3, MPWB1K, BB1K, MP2, and B3LYP. The thermal rate coefficients for the formation of three major products, CS + SO ((3)Σ(-)), OCS + S ((3)P) and CO + S(2) ((3)Σ(-)(g)) were computed by using transition state and RRKM statistical rate theories over the temperature range of 200-2000 K. The computed k(SO + CS) by using high-level quantum chemical methods is in accordance with the available experimental data. The calculated rate coefficients for the formation of OCS + S ((3)P) and CO + S(2) ((3)Σ(-)(g)) are much lower than k(SO + CS); hence, it is predicted that these two product channels do not contribute significantly to the overall rate coefficient.  相似文献

Photodissociation dynamics of CS2+molecular ions has been investigated by (1+two-photon resonance technique. CS2+were prepared by (3+1) resonance-enhanced multi-photon ionization (REMPI) of CS2molecules at 483. 2nm. The photofragment S+excitati (PHOFEX) spectra were recorded by scanning another laser in the 424~482nm region, and we assigned essentially to CS2+(~A2Πu,3/2(v′=0~4)←~X2Πg,3/2(0,0,0)) and (~A2Πu,1/2(v′=0,4)←~X2Πg,1/2(0,0,0)) (herev′=v1′+(1/2)v2′) transitions. The S+production channel wpreliminarily attributed to, (i) one-photon excitation CS2+from the ground state~X2Πgto texcited state~A2Πu; (ii) vibronic coupling between the~A2Πustate and the high vibrational lev in the~X2Πgstate; (iii) second photon excitation from the coupling vibrational levels to the excied state~B2Σu+and dissociation to produce S++ CS via the repulsive4Σ-state through spin-orb interaction between the~B2Σu+and4Σ-states.  相似文献

We present velocity map images of the NO, O((3)P(J)) and O((1)S(0)) photofragments from NO(2) excited in the range 7.6 to 9.0 eV. The molecule was initially pumped with a visible photon between 2.82-2.95 eV (440-420 nm), below the first dissociation threshold. A second ultraviolet laser with photon energies between 4.77 and 6.05 eV (260-205 nm) was used to pump high-lying excited states of neutral NO(2) and/or probe neutral photoproducts. Analysis of the kinetic energy release spectra revealed that the NO photofragments were predominantly formed in their ground electronic state with little kinetic energy. The O((3)P(J)) and O((1)S(0)) kinetic energy distributions were also dominated by kinetically 'cold' fragments. We discuss the possible excitation schemes and conclude that the unstable photoexcited states probed in the experiment were Rydberg states coupled to dissociative valence states. We compare our results with recent time-resolved studies using similar excitation and probe photon energies.  相似文献

The photodissociation of N(2)O at wavelengths near 130 nm has been investigated by velocity-mapped product imaging. In all, five dissociation channels have been detected, leading to the following products: O((1)S)+N(2)(X (1)Sigma), N((2)D)+NO(X (2)Pi), N((2)P)+NO(X (2)Pi), O((3)P) + N(2)(A (3)Sigma(+) (u)), and O((3)P) + N(2)(B (3)Pi(g)). The most significant channel is to the products O((1)S) + N(2)(X(1)Sigma), with strong vibrational excitation in the N(2). The O((3)P) + N(2)(A,B):N((2)D,(2)P) + NO branching ratio is measured to be 1.4 +/- 0.5, while the N(2)(A) + O((3)P(J)):N(2)(B) + O((3)P(J)) branching ratio is determined to be 0.84+/-0.09. The spin-orbit distributions for the O((3)P(J)), N((2)P(J)), and N((2)D(J)) products were also determined. The angular distributions of the products are in qualitative agreement with excitation to the N(2)O(D (1)Sigma(+)) state, with participation as well by the (3)Pi(v) state.

结果发现,碎片CS的振动布居呈双模结构,分别对应于CS2分子1 B2(1 Σ+u)态的两个解离通道,即CS(X1 Σ+,v″=0~9)+S(3PJ)和CS(X1 Σ+, v″=0~1)+S(1 B2).

The photodissociation of NO(3) has been studied using velocity map ion imaging. Measurements of the NO(2) + O channel reveal statistical branching ratios of the O((3)P(J)) fine-structure states, isotropic angular distributions, and low product translational energy consistent with barrierless dissociation along the ground state potential surface. There is clear evidence for two distinct pathways to the formation of NO + O(2) products. The dominant pathway (>70% yield) is characterized by vibrationally excited O(2)((3)Σ(g)(-), v = 5-10) and rotationally cold NO((2)Π), while the second pathway is characterized by O(2)((3)Σ(g)(-), v = 0-4) and rotationally hotter NO((2)Π) fragments. We speculate the first pathway has many similarities to the "roaming" dynamics recently implicated in several systems. The rotational angular momentum of the molecular fragments is positively correlated for this channel, suggesting geometric constraints in the dissociation. The second pathway results in almost exclusive formation of NO((2)Π, v = 0). Although product state correlations support dissociation via an as yet unidentified three-center transition state, theoretical confirmation is needed.  相似文献

Using the novel threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) velocity imaging technique, the dissociative photoionization of N(2)O molecule via the C(2)Σ(+) ionic state has been investigated. Four fragment ions, NO(+), N(2)(+), O(+), and N(+), are observed, respectively, and the NO(+) and N(+) ions are always dominant in the whole excitation energy range of the C(2)Σ(+) ionic state. Subsequently, the TPEPICO three-dimensional time-sliced velocity images of NO(+) dissociated from the vibrational state-selected N(2)O(+)(C(2)Σ(+)) ions have been recorded. Thus the kinetic and internal energy distributions of the NO(+) fragments have been obtained directly as the bimodal distributions, suggesting that the NO(+) fragments are formed via both NO(+)(X(1)Σ(+)) + N((2)P) and NO(+)(X(1)Σ(+)) + N((2)D) dissociation channels. Almost the same vibrational population reversions are identified for both dissociation pathways. Interestingly, the obtained branching ratios of the two channels exhibit some dependence on the excited vibrational mode for N(2)O(+)(C(2)Σ(+)), in which the excited asymmetrical stretching potentially promotes dissociation possibility along the NO(+)(X(1)Σ(+)) + N((2)D) pathway. In addition, the measured anisotropic parameters of NO(+) are close to 0.5, indicating that the C(2)Σ(+) state of N(2)O(+) is fully predissociative, indeed, with a tendency of parallel dissociation, and therefore, the corresponding predissociation mechanisms for the N(2)O(+)(C(2)Σ(+)) ions are depicted.  相似文献

Photodissociation dynamics of D(2)O in the B?((1)A(1)) state at different photolysis wavelengths have been investigated using the D-atom Rydberg "tagging" time-of-flight (TOF) technique, in combination with a tunable vacuum ultraviolet photolysis light source. TOF spectra of the D-atom product from the D(2)O photodissociation in both parallel and perpendicular polarizations have been measured. Product kinetic energy distributions and angular distributions have been derived from these TOF spectra. From these distributions, internal state distributions of the OD product as well as the OD quantum state specific angular anisotropy parameters have been derived. Two product channels governed by distinct dissociation dynamics have been clearly observed in the B?((1)A(1)) state photodissociation: ground electronic state radical product OD(X (2)Π) + D and excited electronic state OD(A (2)Σ(+)) + D. The OD(A) + D channel proceeds via adiabatic pathway on the B?((1)A(1)) state surface, producing rovibrational excitation in the OD(A) product, while the OD(X) + D channel is generated through nonadiabatic pathway mainly via conical intersections between the B?((1)A(1)) and the X?((1)A(1)) state surfaces. Due to strong angular force induced by the conical intersections, the OD(X) product is extremely hot in the rotational excitation close to the energy limit (N ~ 50 for v = 0). However, the vibrational excitation is cold in the OD(X) product with dominant population in the ground vibrational state v = 0. Detailed experimental results at different photolysis wavelengths show that at higher energy the unstable periodic orbit, from which dissociation starts, on the B? state has stronger excitation degree of the OD internal state. The negative angular anisotropy parameters of the OD(A) products suggest that the angular forces in this adiabatic dissociation pathway from these periodic orbits have changed the original angular distribution of the D(2)O molecule excited by the B?((1)A(1))←X?((1)A(1)) parallel transition.  相似文献

The time-slice velocity-map ion imaging and the resonant four-wave mixing techniques are combined to study the photodissociation of NO in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region around 13.5 eV above the ionization potential. The neutral atoms, i.e., N((2)D(o)), O((3)P(2)), O((3)P(1)), O((3)P(0)), and O((1)D(2)), are probed by exciting an autoionization line of O((1)D(2)) or N((2)D(o)), or an intermediate Rydberg state of O((3)P(0,1,2)). Old and new autoionization lines of O((1)D(2)) and N((2)D(o)) in this region have been measured and newer frequencies are given for them. The photodissociation channels producing N((2)D(o)) + O((3)P), N((2)D(o)) + O((1)D(2)), N((2)D(o)) + O((1)S(0)), and N((2)P(o)) + O((3)P) have all been identified. This is the first time that a single VUV photon has been used to study the photodissociation of NO in this energy region. Our measurements of the angular distributions show that the recoil anisotropy parameters (β) for all the dissociation channels except for the N((2)D(o)) + O((1)S(0)) channel are minus at each of the wavelengths used in the present study. Thus direct excitation of NO by a single VUV photon in this energy region leads to excitation of states with Σ or Δ symmetry (ΔΩ = ±1), explaining the observed perpendicular transition.  相似文献

The photodissociation dynamics of CH(2)Br(2) was investigated near 234 and 267 nm. A two-dimensional photofragment ion velocity imaging technique coupled with a [2+1] resonance-enhanced multiphoton (REMPI) ionization scheme was utilized to obtain the angular and translational energy distributions of the nascent Br ((2)P(3/2)) and Br* ((2)P(1/2)) atoms. The obtained translational energy distributions of Br and Br* are found consist of two components which should be come from the radical channel and secondary dissociation process, respectively. It is suggested that the symmetry reduction from C(2v) to C(s) during photodissociation invokes a non-adiabatic coupling between the 2B(1) and A(1) states. Consequently, the higher internal energy distribution of Br channel than Br* formation channel and the broader translational energy distribution of the former are presumed correlate with a variety of vibrational excitation disposal at the crossing point resulting from the larger non-adiabatic crossing from 2B(1) to A(1) state than the reverse crossing. Moreover, the measured anisotropy parameter beta indicate that fragments recoil along the Br-Br direction mostly in the photodissociation.  相似文献

Experiments using infrared excitation of either the intramolecular symmetric N-H stretch (ν(NH,S)) or the intramolecular antisymmetric N-H stretch (ν(NH,A)) of the ammonia dimer ((NH(3))(2)) in combination with velocity-map ion imaging provide new information on the dissociation energy of the dimer and on the energy disposal in its dissociation. Ion imaging using resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization to probe individual rovibrational states of one of the ammonia monomer fragments provides recoil speed distributions. Analyzing these distributions for different product states gives a dissociation energy of D(0) = 660 ± 20 cm(-1) for the dimer. Fitting the distributions shows that rotations are excited up to their energetic limit and determines the correlation of the fragment vibrations. The fragments NH(3)(ν(2) = 3(+)) and NH(3)(ν(2) = 2(+)) have a vibrational ground-state partner NH(3)(ν = 0), but NH(3)(ν(2) = 1(+)) appears in partnership with another fragment in ν(2) = 1. This propensity is consistent with the idea of minimizing the momentum gap between the initial and final states by depositing a substantial fraction of the available energy into internal excitation.  相似文献

A quasi-classical study of the endoergic Au(+)((1)S) + H(2)(X(1)Σ(g)(+)) → AuH(+) ((2)Σ(+)) + H((2)S) reaction, and isotopic variants, is performed to compare with recent experimental results [F. Li, C. S. Hinton, M. Citir, F. Liu, and P. B. Armentrout, J. Chem. Phys. 134, 024310 (2011)]. For this purpose, a new global potential energy surface has been developed based on multi-reference configuration interaction ab initio calculations. The quasi-classical trajectory results show a very good agreement with the experiments, showing the same trends for the different isotopic variants of the hydrogen molecule. It is also found that the total dissociation into three fragments, Au(+)+H+H, is the dominant reaction channel for energies above the H(2) dissociation energy. This results from a well in the entrance channel of the potential energy surface, which enhances the probability of H-Au-H insertion.  相似文献

The dissociation of OCS has been investigated subsequent to excitation at 248 nm using velocity map ion imaging. Speed distributions, speed dependent translational anisotropy parameters, and the atomic angular momentum orientation and alignment are reported for the channel leading to S((3)P(J)). The speed distributions and beta parameters are in broad agreement with previous work and show behavior that is highly sensitive to the S-atom spin-orbit state. The data are shown to be consistent with the operation of at least two triplet production mechanisms. Interpretation of the angular momentum polarization data in terms of an adiabatic picture has been used to help identify a likely dissociation pathway for the majority of the S((3)P(J)) products, which strongly favors production of J=2 fragment atoms, correlated, it is proposed, with rotationally hot and vibrationally cold CO cofragments. For these fragments, optical excitation to the 2 (1)A(') surface is thought to constitute the first step, as for the singlet dissociation channel. This is followed by crossing, via a conical intersection, to the ground 1 (1)A(') state, from where intersystem crossing occurs, populating the 1 (3)A(')1 (3)A(")((3)Pi) states. The proposed mechanism provides a qualitative rationale for the observed spin-orbit populations, as well as the S((3)P(J)) quantum yield and angular momentum polarization. At least one other production mechanism, leading to a more statistical S-atom spin-orbit state distribution and rotationally cold, vibrationally hot CO cofragments, is thought to involve direct excitation to either the (3)Sigma(-) or (3)Pi states.  相似文献

The H- and D-atom products from collisional quenching of OD A (2)Σ(+) by H(2) are characterized through Doppler spectroscopy using two-photon (2 (2)S ←← 1 (2)S) laser-induced fluorescence. Partial deuteration enables separation of the channel forming H + HOD products, which accounts for 75% of reactive quenching events, from the D + H(2)O product channel. The Doppler profiles, along with those reported previously for other isotopic variants, are transformed into product translational energy distributions using a robust fitting procedure based on discrete velocity basis functions. The product translational energy distribution for the H-atom channel is strongly peaked at low energy (below 0.5 eV) with a long tail extending to the energetic limit. By contrast, the D-atom channel exhibits a small peak at low translational energy with a distinctive secondary peak at higher translational energy (approximately 1.8 eV) before falling off to higher energy. In both cases, most of the available energy flows into internal excitation of the water products. Similar distributions are obtained upon reanalysis of D- and H-atom Doppler profiles, respectively, from reactive quenching of OH A (2)Σ(+) by D(2). The sum of the translational energy distributions for H- and D-atom channels is remarkably similar to that obtained for OH A (2)Σ(+) + H(2), where the two channels cannot be distinguished from one another. The product translational energy distributions from reactive quenching are compared with those obtained from a previous experiment performed at higher collision energy, quasiclassical trajectory calculations of the post-quenching dynamics, and a statistical model.  相似文献

In this paper we report slice imaging polarization experiments on the state-to-state photodissociation at 42,594 cm(-1) of spatially oriented OCS(v(2) = 1|JlM = 111) → CO(J) + S((1)D(2)). Slice images were measured of the three-dimensional recoil distribution of the S((1)D(2)) photofragment for different polarization geometries of the photolysis and probe laser. The high resolution slice images show well separated velocity rings in the S((1)D(2)) velocity distribution. The velocity rings of the S((1)D(2)) photofragment correlate with individual rotational states of the CO(J) cofragment in the J(CO) = 57-65 region. The angular distribution of the S((1)D(2)) velocity rings are extracted and analyzed using two different polarization models. The first model assumes the nonaxial dynamics evolves after excitation to a single potential energy surface of an oriented OCS(v(2) = 1|JlM = 111) molecule. The second model assumes the excitation is to two potential energy surfaces, and the OCS molecule is randomly oriented. In the high J region (J(CO) = 62-65) it appears that both models fit the polarization very well, in the region J(CO) = 57-61 both models seem to fit the data less well. From the molecular frame alignment moments the m-state distribution of S((1)D(2)) is calculated as a function of the CO(J) channel. A comparison is made with the theoretical m-state distribution calculated from the long-range electrostatic dipole-dipole plus quadrupole interaction model. The S((1)D(2)) photofragment velocity distribution shows a very pronounced strong peak for S((1)D(2)) fragments born in coincidence with CO(J = 61).  相似文献

We have determined limits on the cross section for both electronically nonadiabatic excitation and quenching in the Cl((2)P(j)) + D(2) system. Our experiment incorporates crossed-molecular-beam scattering with state-selective Cl((2)P(12,32)) detection and velocity-mapped ion imaging. By colliding atomic chlorine with D(2), we address the propensity for collisions that result in a change of the spin-orbit level of atomic chlorine either through electronically nonadiabatic spin-orbit excitation Cl((2)P(32)) + D(2)-->Cl(*)((2)P(12)) + D(2) or through electronically nonadiabatic spin-orbit quenching Cl(*)((2)P(12)) + D(2)-->Cl((2)P(32)) + D(2). In the first part of this report, we estimate an upper limit for the electronically nonadiabatic spin-orbit excitation cross section at a collision energy of 5.3 kcal/mol, which lies above the energy of the reaction barrier (4.9 kcal/mol). Our analysis and simulation of the experimental data determine an upper limit for the excitation cross section as sigma(NA)< or =0.012 A(2). In the second part of this paper we investigate the propensity for electronically nonadiabatic spin-orbit quenching of Cl(*) following a collision with D(2) or He. We perform these experiments at collision energies above and below the energy of the reaction barrier. By comparing the amount of scattered Cl(*) in our images to the amount of Cl(*) lost from the atomic beam we obtain the maximum cross section for electronically nonadiabatic quenching as sigma(NA)< or =15(-15) (+44) A(2) for a collision energy of 7.6 kcal/mol. Our experiments show the probability for electronically nonadiabatic quenching in Cl(*) + D(2) to be indistinguishable to that for the kinematically identical system of Cl(*) + He.  相似文献

The photodissociation dynamics of allyl chloride at 235 nm producing atomic Cl((2)P(J);J=1/2,3/2) fragments is investigated using a two-dimensional photofragment velocity ion imaging technique. Detection of the Cl((2)P(1/2)) and Cl((2)P(3/2)) products by [2+1] resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization shows that primary C-Cl bond fission of allyl chloride generates 66.8% Cl((2)P(3/2)) and 33.2% Cl((2)P(1/2)). The Cl((2)P(3/2)) fragments evidenced a bimodal translational energy distribution with a relative weight of low kinetic energy Cl((2)P(3/2))/high kinetic energy Cl((2)P(3/2)) of 0.097/0.903. The minor dissociation channel for C-Cl bond fission, producing low kinetic energy chlorine atoms, formed only chlorine atoms in the Cl((2)P(3/2)) spin-orbit state. The dominant C-Cl bond fission channel, attributed to an electronic predissociation that results in high kinetic energy Cl atoms, produced both Cl((2)P(1/2)) and Cl((2)P(3/2)) atomic fragments. The relative branching for this dissociation channel is Cl((2)P(1/2))/[Cl((2)P(1/2))+Cl((2)P(3/2))]=35.5%. The average fraction of available energy imparted into product recoil for the high kinetic energy products was found to be 59%, in qualitative agreement with that predicted by a rigid radical impulsive model. Both the spin-orbit ground and excited chlorine atom angular distributions were close to isotropic. We compare the observed Cl((2)P(1/2))/[Cl((2)P(1/2))+Cl((2)P(3/2))] ratio produced in the electronic predissociation channel of allyl chloride with a prior study of the chlorine atom spin-orbit states produced from HCl photodissociation, concluding that angular momentum recoupling in the exit channel at long interatomic distance determines the chlorine atom spin-orbit branching.  相似文献

The complete angular momentum distributions and vector correlation coefficients (orientation and alignment) of ground state I((2)P(32)) and excited state I((2)P(12)) atoms resulting from the photodissociation of HI have been computed as a function of photolysis energy. The orientation and alignment parameters a(Q) ((K))(p) that describe the coherent and incoherent contributions to the angular momentum distributions from the multiple electronic states accessed by parallel and perpendicular transitions are determined using a time-dependent wave packet treatment of the dissociation dynamics. The dynamics are based on potential energy curves and transition dipole moments that have been reported previously [R. J. LeRoy, G. T. Kraemer, and S. Manzhos, J. Chem. Phys. 117, 9353 (2002)] and used to successfully model the scalar (total cross section and branching fraction) and lowest order vector (anisotropy parameter beta) properties of the photodissociation. Predictions of the a(Q) ((K))(p), parameters for the isotopically substituted species DI are reported and contrasted to the analogous HI results. The resulting polarization for the corresponding H/D partners are also determined and demonstrate that both H and D atoms produced can be highly spin polarized. Comparison of these predictions for HI and DI with experimental measurement will provide the most stringent test of the current model for the electronic structure and the interpretation of the dissociation based on noncoupled excited state dynamics.  相似文献
