We study a \mathbbZG \mathbb{Z}G -module A such that \mathbbZ \mathbb{Z} is the ring of integer numbers, the group G has an infinite sectional p-rank (or an infinite 0-rank), C G (A) = 1, A is not a minimax \mathbbZ \mathbb{Z} -module, and, for any proper subgroup H of infinite sectional p-rank (or infinite 0-rank, respectively), the quotient module A/C A (H) is a minimax \mathbbZ \mathbb{Z} -module. It is shown that if the group G is locally soluble, then it is soluble. Some properties of soluble groups of this kind are discussed.  相似文献

We show that solvable absolute Galois groups have an abelian normal subgroup such that the quotient is the direct product of two finite cyclic and a torsion-free procyclic group. In particular, solvable absolute Galois groups are metabelian. Moreover, any field with solvable absolute Galois group G admits a non-trivial henselian valuation, unless each Sylow-subgroup of G is either procyclic or isomorphic to Z 2Z/2Z. A complete classification of solvable absolute Galois groups (up to isomorphism) is given. Oblatum 22-IV-1998 & 1-IX-2000?Published online: 30 October 2000  相似文献

The author studies a D G-module A such that D is a Dedekind domain, A/C A (G) is not an Artinian D-module, C A (G) = 1, G is a soluble group, and the system of all subgroups HG for which the quotient modules A/C A (H) are not Artinian D-modules satisfies the minimum condition. The structure of G is described.  相似文献

We consider an R G-module A over a commutative Noetherian ring R. Let G be a group having infinite section p-rank (or infinite 0-rank) such that C G (A) = 1, A/C A (G) is not a Noetherian R-module, but the quotient A/C A (H) is a Noetherian R-module for every proper subgroup H of infinite section p-rank (or infinite 0-rank, respectively). In this paper, it is proved that if G is a locally soluble group, then G is soluble. Some properties of soluble groups of this type are also obtained.  相似文献

Let A be an R G-module, where R is an integral domain and G is a soluble group. Suppose that C G (A) = 1 and A/C A (G) is not a noetherian R-module. Let L nnd(G) be the family of all subgroups H of G such that A/C A (H) is not a noetherian R-module. In this paper we study the structure of those G for which L nnd(G) satisfies the maximal condition.  相似文献

Suppose that V is a finite faithful irreducible G-module where G is a finite solvable group of odd order. We prove if the action is quasi-primitive, then either F(G) is abelian or G has at least 212 regular orbits on V. As an application, we prove that when V is a finite faithful completely reducible G-module for a solvable group G of odd order, then there exists v ∈ V such that C G (v) ? F 2(G) (where F 2(G) is the 2nd ascending Fitting subgroup of G). We also generalize a result of Espuelas and Navarro. Let G be a group of odd order and let H be a Hall π-subgroup of G. Let V be a faithful G-module over a finite field of characteristic 2, then there exists v ∈ V such that C H (v) ? O π(G).  相似文献

We consider the problem of coupling between a quotient module A/C A (G) and a submodule ARG), where G is a group, R is a ring, and A is an RG-module; C A (G) can be considered as an analog of the center of the group, and the submodule ARG) can be considered as an analog of the derived subgroup of the group. __________ Translated from Ukrains’kyi Matematychnyi Zhurnal, Vol. 59, No. 9, pp. 1261–1268, September, 2007.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and U(Z(Z G)) be the group of units of the center Z(Z G) of the integral group ring Z G (the central unit group of the ring Z G). The purpose of the present work is to study the ranks r n of groups U(Z(ZAn)), i.e., of central unit groups of integral group rings of alternating groups A n . We shall find all values n for r n = 1 and propose an approach on how to describe the groups U(Z(ZAn)) in these cases, and we will present some results of calculations of r n for n ≤ 600.  相似文献

Consider an irreducible random walk {Z n} on a locally finite graphG with infinitely many ends, and assume that its transition probabilities are invariant under a closed group Γ of automorphisms ofG which acts transitively on the vertex set. We study the limiting behaviour of {Z n} on the spaceΩ of ends ofG. With the exception of a degenerate case,Ω always constitutes a boundary of Γ in the sense of Furstenberg, and {Z n} converges a.s. to a random end. In this case, the Dirichlet problem for harmonic functions is solvable with respect toΩ. The degenerate case may arise when Γ is amenable; it then fixes a unique end, and it may happen that {Z n} converges to this end. If {Z n} is symmetric and has finite range, this may be excluded. A decomposition theorem forΩ, which may also be of some purely graph-theoretical interest, is derived and applied to show thatΩ can be identified with the Poisson boundary, if the random walk has finite range. Under this assumption, the ends with finite diameter constitute a dense subset in the minimal Martin boundary. These results are then applied to random walks on discrete groups with infinitely many ends.  相似文献

Let A be an R G-module over a commutative ring R, where G is a group of infinite section p-rank (0-rank), C G (A) = 1, A is not a Noetherian R-module, and the quotient A/C A (H) is a Noetherian R-module for every proper subgroup H of infinite section p-rank (0-rank). We describe the structure of solvable groups G of this type.  相似文献

The Dickson–Mùi algebra consists of all invariants in the mod p cohomology of an elementary abelian p-group under the general linear group. It is a module over the Steenrod algebra, A{\mathcal {A}} . We determine explicitly all the A{\mathcal {A}} -module homomorphisms between the (reduced) Dickson–Mùi algebras and all the A{\mathcal {A}} -module automorphisms of the (reduced) Dickson–Mùi algebras. The algebra of all A{\mathcal {A}} -module endomorphisms of the (reduced) Dickson–Mùi algebra is claimed to be isomorphic to a quotient of the polynomial algebra on one indeterminate. We prove that the reduced Dickson–Mùi algebra is atomic in the meaning that if an A{\mathcal {A}} -module endomorphism of the algebra is non-zero on the least positive degree generator, then it is an automorphism. This particularly shows that the reduced Dickson–Mùi algebra is an indecomposable A{\mathcal {A}} -module. The similar results also hold for the odd characteristic Dickson algebras. In particular, the odd characteristic reduced Dickson algebra is atomic and therefore indecomposable as a module over the Steenrod algebra.  相似文献

We describe T-equivariant Schubert calculus on G(k,n), T being an n-dimensional torus, through derivations on the exterior algebra of a free A-module of rank n, where A is the T-equivariant cohomology of a point. In particular, T-equivariant Pieri’s formulas will be determined, answering a question raised by Lakshmibai, Raghavan and Sankaran (Equivariant Giambelli and determinantal restriction formulas for the Grassmannian, Pure Appl. Math. Quart. 2 (2006), 699–717).  相似文献

In case G is a finite group, there is a well-known criterion for projective modules: A ? G-module M is projective if and only if it is ? -free and has finite projective dimension. We first investigate whether only finite groups satisfy the above criterion. In the class of groups L H 𝔉, we conclude that this is true. Secondly, we consider the problem when a stably flat Γ-module is projective, where Γ is an arbitrary group. We show that if Γ is an L H 𝔉-group, then every stably flat cofibrant ? Γ-module is projective.  相似文献

Let G be a simple algebraic group and B a Borel subgroup. We consider generalisations of Lusztig’s q-analogues of weight multiplicity, where the set of positive roots is replaced with the multiset of weights of a B-submodule N of an arbitrary finite-dimensional G-module V. The corresponding polynomials in q are called generalised Kostka–Foulkes polynomials (gKF). We prove vanishing theorems for the cohomology of line bundles on G ×  B N and derive from this a sufficient condition for the non-negativity of the coefficients of gKF. We also consider in detail the case in which V is the simple G-module whose highest weight is the short dominant root and N is the B-submodule whose weights are all short positive roots.  相似文献

We consider an almost hyper-Abellan group G of a finite Abelian sectional rank that is the product of two subgroups A and B. We prove that every subgroup H that belongs to the intersection AB and is ascending both in A and B is also an ascending subgroup in the group G. We also show that, in the general case, this statement is not true. Translated from Ukrainskii Matematicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 49, No. 6, pp. 842–848, June, 1997.  相似文献

Niroomand (Arch. Math. 94 (2010) 401–404) proved a converse to a theorem of Schur in the following sense. He proved that if G is a group such that [G, G] is finite and G/Z(G) is finitely generated, then G/Z(G) is finite, of order bounded above by [G, G] k where k is the minimal number of generators required for G/Z(G). Here, we give a completely elementary short proof of a further generalization.  相似文献

Every group that is finitely presented in the varietyA n of solvable groups. and is universally equivalent to a free group Fr(A n) in this variety, is embedded in the Cartesian degree of F2(A n). All subgroups on a set of two generators in that Cartesian degree which are universally equivalent to F2(A n) are determined. Free solvable and nilpotent groups are proved universally equivalent. A group is called a T-group if all its subnormal subgroups are normal. Finite T-groups have been widely studied since the seminal paper of Gaschütz (J. Reine Angew. Math. 198 (1957), 87–92), in which he described the structure of finite solvable T-groups. We call a finite group G an NNM-group if each non-normal subgroup of G is contained in a non-normal maximal subgroup of G. Let G be a finite group. Using the concept of NNM-groups, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for G to be a solvable T-group (Theorem 1), and sufficient conditions for G to be supersolvable (Theorems 5, 7 and Corollary 6).  相似文献

N/Kbe a Galois extension of number fields with finite Galois group G.We describe a new approach for constructing invariants of the G-module structure of the K groups of the ring of integers of N in the Grothendieck group of finitely generated projective Z[G]modules. In various cases we can relate these classes, and their function field counterparts, to the root number class of Fröhlich and Cassou-Noguès.  相似文献

A finite group G is of central type (in the non-classical sense) if it admits a non-degenerate cohomology class [c] ∈ H 2(G, ℂ*) (G acts trivially on ℂ*). Groups of central type play a fundamental role in the classification of semisimple triangular complex Hopf algebras and can be determined by their representation-theoretical properties. Suppose that a finite group Q acts on an abelian group A so that there exists a bijective 1-cocycle π ∈ Z 1(Q,Ǎ), where Ǎ = Hom(A, ℂ*) is endowed with the diagonal Q-action. Under this assumption, Etingof and Gelaki gave an explicit formula for a non-degenerate 2-cocycle in Z 2(G, ℂ*), where G:= A × Q. Hence, the semidirect product G is of central type. In this paper, we present a more general correspondence between bijective and non-degenerate cohomology classes. In particular, given a bijective class [π] ∈ H 1(Q,Ǎ) as above, we construct non-degenerate classes [cπ] ∈ H 2(G,ℂ*) for certain extensions 1 → A → G → Q → 1 which are not necessarily split. We thus strictly extend the above family of central type groups.  相似文献
