The paper gives a review of the alkaloids ofColchium luteum Baker from various growth sites. The structure of luteidine — one of the main alkaloids of the plant — has been established. In addition, two new alkaloids have been isolated from the plant and the structure of one of them has been established as collutine N-oxide.M. Conclusions FromColchicum luteum Baker collected in the gorge of the Sazan-Ata River in the Chimkent region have been isolated the known alkaloids colchamine, 3-desmethylcolchamine, 3-desmethyl--lumicolchicine, colchicine, 2-desmethylcolchicine, -lumicolchicine, N-desacetyl-N-formylcolchicine, and luteidine, and the new alkaloids L-5 and L-6. The first three bases have been obtained from this plant for the first time.Paper chromatography showed the presence of another three new alkaloids with R f 0.38, 0.40, and 0.86. Summary 1. Imperialine, imperialone, peimisine, and the new alkaloids edpetiline, eduardine, edpetilidine, and edpetilidinine have been isolated from the epigeal part ofP. eduardi.2. From the epigeal part ofHaplophyllum dubium we have isolated dubamine, -fagarine, skimmianine, graveoline, haplopine, the new alkaloid norgraveoline, and the steroid -sitosterol. This is the first time that -fagarine has been found in this plant.
