Studies have been carried out on the extraction of Hg(II) along with Cr(III), Fe(III), Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and Ag(I), from mineral acid media using TIBPS. The effect of different variables influencing extraction of Hg(II), such as, mineral acid used, nature of diluent, concentration of metal ion and extractant has been investigated. Based on the partition data some binary separations from Hg(II) have been achieved. The potential of the extractant for decontaminating Hg from paper industry effluent has been assessed.  相似文献

The extraction of mercury(II) has been studied from mineral acid solution using 1-nephthylthiocarbamide (ANTU) in chloroform-acetone mixture (9:1). The variables such as the concentration of acid and extractant have been optimized. The extractability of some other elements at the optimum conditions for mercury is also studied in order to establish the separation procedure. The probable composition of the extracted species has been deduced from log data. Effect of a number of foreign metal ions and anions has also been studied.  相似文献

The liquid-liquid extraction behavior of Hg(II) from aqueous acidic chloride solutions has been investigated by tracer techniques using dialkylsulphides (R2S) namely, dibutylsulphide (DBS) and dioctylsulphide (DOS) as extractants. These extraction data have been analyzed by both graphical and theoretical methods by taking into account complexation of the metal ion in the aqueous phase with inorganic ligands and all plausible complexes extracted into the organic phase. The results clearly indicate that Hg(II) is extracted into xylene as HgCl2 . nDBS/nDOS (where n = 2 and 3). The equilibrium constants of the extracted complexes have been deduced by non-linear regression analysis. The separation possibilities of Hg(II) from other metal ions viz. Ca(II), Mg(II), Ba(II) and Fe((III), which are present in the industrial wastes of the chlor-alkali industry has also been discussed.  相似文献

An emulsion liquid membrane process using bis-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) to extract and separate Ni(II) and Co(II) from acidic chloride solutions is described. Liquid membrane consists of a diluent, a surfactant (Span 80), and an extractant (D2EHPA). Hydrochloric acid was used as the stripping solution. The important parameters governing the permeation of nickel and their effect on the separation process have been studied. These parameters are stirring speed, feed phase pH, surfactant concentration, extractant concentration, stripping phase concentration, phase ratio, initial concentration of metal, and treatment ratio. The optimum conditions have been determined. The separation factors of Ni(II) with respect to Co(II), based on initial feed concentration, have been experimentally determined. Furthermore, the extraction selectivity for Co(II) over Ni(II) has been improved by using D2EHPA during the initial minutes.  相似文献

Thin-layer chromatography in combination with spectrophotometry has been applied for the separation and estimation of Hg(II) using silica gel layers impregnated with 2% oxalic acid as stationary phase with an ethyl acetate:acetone:formic acid:water (8:7:4:1) solvent system. Separation of Hg(II) from Hg(I) and of Th4+ from UO22+ is not affected by the presence of common anions in the sample solution. Hg(II) has been successfully separated from Ni(II), Cu(II), and Pb(II) over a wide range of pH (0.5–7.0) of sample solution. An attempt has been made to recover Hg(II) from rivers and industrial wastewaters.  相似文献

A method for the selective extraction of mercury has been developed. The extraction of Hg(II) by 2-benzylpyridine (BPy) in benzene from dilute mineral acid solution containing iodide ions has been investigated, and variables such as concentration of acids, iodide and the extractant have been optimized. The optimum conditions for the extraction of Hg(II) by 0.1M BPy/benzene are: 0.01M (HCl, HNO3, H2SO4)+0.01M KI. The distribution coefficients and separation factors of 19 elements relative to Hg(II), have been reported. Effect of anions such as ascorbate, acetate, citrate, oxalate and thiosulfate has also been studied. The method developed could find useful applications in selective extraction of small amounts of mercury from environmental samples.  相似文献

A new kind of polymer sorbent based on the specific interaction of Hg(II) with nucleic acid base, thymine, is described for the selective adsorption of Hg(II) from aqueous solution. Two types of sorbents immobilized with thymine were prepared by one-step swelling and polymerization and graft polymerization, respectively. The maximum static adsorption capacity of the new polymer sorbents for Hg(II) is proportional to the density of thymine on their surface, up to 200 mg/g. Moreover, the new kind polymer sorbent shows excellent selectivity for Hg(II) over other interfering ions, such as Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ca(II) and Mg(II), exhibits very fast kinetics for Hg(II) adsorption from aqueous solution, and can be easily regenerated by 1.0 M HCl. It also has been successfully used for the selective adsorption of spiked Hg(II) from real tap water samples. This new thymine polymer sorbent holds a great promise in laboratory and industrial applications such as separation, on-line enrichment, solid-phase extraction, and removal of Hg(II) from pharmaceutical, food and environmental samples.  相似文献

A one-pot route has been developed for the preparation of bovine serum albumin-templated nickel-doped bimetallic gold-nickel nanoclusters (BSA-Au-Ni NCs) at a 10:1 M ratio of the precursor salts in a BSA matrix under alkaline conditions. The metal ions are reduced to the metal alloys by BSA. The resulting NCs display strong fluorescence and dual emission with peaks at 405 and 640 nm, respectively, under excitation at 340 nm. Fluorescence is strongly enhanced on addition of Cd(II) ions, but quenched on addition of Hg(II) ions. The findings have been exploited to design a fluorometric method for the separate determination of Cd(II) and Hg(II), respectively. The optimized analytical nanosystem displays relatively good dynamics between enhancement and quenching. Cd(II) and Hg(II) can be quantified in the 0 to 200 and 0 nM to 24 μM, respectively. The limits of detection are ~1.8 nM in both cases, which indicates the highest sensitivity to Cd(II) and Hg(II) ions for a fluorescent probe. This new kind of nanocrystal probe is hardly interfered by a range of commonly encountered metal ions. Its advantages were demonstrated by determining Cd(II) and Hg(II) ions in spiked serum samples.

Dually emitting nanoclusters composed of gold-nickel alloys are shown to act as very sensitive fluorescent probes for the detection of Cd(II) and Hg(II) ions.

Thioglycolic acid (TGA)-capped CdTe quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized in aqueous medium, and their interaction with metal cations was studied with UV-vis absorption, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectra. The results demonstrated that Hg(II), Cu(II) and Ag(I) could effectively quench the QD emission based on different action mechanisms: Cu(II) and Ag(I) quenched CdTe QDs because they bound onto particle surface and facilitated non-radiative electron/hole recombination annihilation of QDs; electron transfer process between the capping ligands and Hg(II) was mainly responsible for the remarkable quenching effect of Hg(II). To prevent the approach of metal cations to QD core, the original TGA-capped CdTe QDs were further coated by denatured bovine serum albumin (dBSA). It was found that the dBSA-coated CdTe QDs could be quenched effectively by Hg(II), but Cu(II) and Ag(I) could hardly quench the QDs even at fairly higher concentration levels because the dBSA shell layer effectively prevented the binding of metal cations onto the QD core. On the basis of this fact, a simple, rapid and specific method for Hg(II) determination was proposed. Under optimal conditions, the quenched fluorescence intensity increased linearly with the concentration of Hg(II) ranging from 0.012 x 10(-6) to 1.5 x 10(-6) mol L(-1). The limit of detection for Hg(II) was 4.0 x 10(-9) mol L(-1). The developed method was successfully applied to the detection of trace Hg(II) in real samples.  相似文献

A simple and reliable solid-phase extraction (SPE) method has been developed to synthesise two new sorbents: 6-propyl-2-thiouracil and 5,6-diamino-2-thiouracil physically loaded onto alumina surface, phases I and II, respectively. The synthesis of these new phases has been confirmed by IR-spectroscopy. The surface concentrations of the organic moieties were determined to be 0.182 and 0.562 mmol g?1 for phases I and II, respectively. The evaluation of the selectivity and metal uptake properties incorporated in these two alumina phases were also studied and discussed for 10 different metal ions: Ca(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Pb(II) and Ag(I) under different controlling factors. The data obtained clearly indicated that the new SP-extractors have the highest affinity for retention of Hg(II) ions. Selective separation of Hg(II) from Ag(I) as one of the most interfering ion, in addition to the other eight coexisting metal ions under investigation, was achieved successfully using the new sorbents at pH = 9.0 under static conditions. Therefore, Hg(II) exhibits major retention percentage (100.0%) using phase I or II. However, Ag(I) exhibits minor retention percentage equal to 1.33% using phase I and 0.67% using phase II. On the other hand, the retention percentage of the other eight metal ions ranged (0.0–3.08%) using phase I and (0.0–1.54%) using phase II at the same pH. The new phases were applied for separation and determination of trace amounts of Hg(II) and Ag(I) spiked natural water samples using cold vapour atomic absorption spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectroscopy with no matrix interference. The high recovery values of Hg(II) and Ag(I) obtained using phases I and II were ranged 98.9 ± 0.1–99.2 ± 0.05% along with a good precision (RSD% 0.01–0.502%, N = 3) demonstrate the accuracy and validity of the new sorbents for separation and determination of Hg(II) and Ag(I).  相似文献

A radiochemical displacement method for the determination of micro amounts of Hg(II) has been developed. 65Zn was displaced from the Zn-1-(2-pyridylazo-2-naphthol) complex at pH 5 in borate buffers by Hg (II). 10-80 micrograms of mercury could be determined. Interference of various metal ions and methods for suppression have also been carried out.  相似文献

Extraction of copper(II) and zinc(II) from acidic chloride solutions with mixtures of two extractants: a basic or solvating one and a chelating extractant was discussed. Processes for recovery and separation of Cu(II) from Zn(II) were proposed, which consist of the following steps: extraction from chloride media with the formation of metal chlorocomplex ion pair or solvate, scrubbing of chloride ions with an aqueous solution of appropriate pH with simultaneous transfer of the metal ion to the chelate, traditional stripping with sulphuric acid and conditioning of the basic extractant. Both effective recovery and separation of metal ions with simultaneous change of the system from the chloride to the sulphate state can be achieved. A bifunctional reagent, such as alkyl derivative of 8-hydroxyquinoline, can be also used instead of the extractant mixture.  相似文献

Six solid Pd(II) and Hg(II) complexes of some purines and pyrimidines have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis spectra, magnetic measurements, and thermal analyses. The data suggest tetrahedral and square planar geometries for mercury and palladium complexes, respectively. The thermal behavior of the complexes has been studied applying TG, DTA, and DSC techniques, and the thermodynamic parameters and mechanisms of the decompositions were evaluated. The ?S* values of the decomposition steps of the metal complexes indicated that the activated fragments have more ordered structure than the undecomposed complexes, and/or the decomposition reactions are slow. The thermal processes proceeded in complicated mechanisms where the bond between the central metal ion and the ligands dissociates after losing small molecules such as H2O, HCl or C=O. The palladium adenine complex is ended with the metal as a final product. However, the thermal reactions of the other five palladium and mercury pyrimidines complexes are ended with metal bonded to O, N, or S of the pyrimidine ring.  相似文献

Neat reaction between HgI2 and 1-methyl-2-(phenylazo)imidazole (Pai-Me) under microwave irradiation has isolated a novel compound whose structure shows intercalated HgI2 in the layers of Pai-Me. They exist independently in interpenetrated arrays. In a solution phase study, the same reaction has synthesized an iodo-bridged azoimidazole-Hg(II) complex, [Hg(RaaiR')(mu-I)(I)]2 (RaaiR' = 1-alkyl-2-(arylazo)imidazole). The structures have been characterized by X-ray diffraction studies. Chloro-bridged Hg(II) complexes of azoimidazoles, [Hg(RaaiR')(mu-Cl)(Cl)]2, are also known. These complexes upon irradiation with UV light show trans-to-cis isomerization. The reverse transformation, cis-to-trans isomerization, is very slow with visible light irradiation. Quantum yields (phi t-->c) of trans-to-cis isomerization are calculated, and the free ligand shows higher phi than their Hg(II) complexes. The cis-to-trans isomerization is a thermally induced process. The activation energy (Ea) of cis-to-trans isomerization is calculated by controlled temperature reaction. The Ea's of free ligands are much higher than that of halo-bridged Hg(II)-azoimidazole complexes. Chloro-bridged Hg(II) complexes show lower Ea's than those of iodo-bridged complexes. DFT calculation has been adopted to rationalize the experimental results.  相似文献

A novel method is developed for the extraction separation of thallium(III) from salicylate medium with n-octylaniline dissolved in toluene as an extractant. The optimum conditions have been determined by making a critical study of weak acid concentration, extractant concentration, period of equilibration and effect of solvent on the equilibria. The thallium (III) from the pregnant organic phase is stripped with acetate buffer solution (pH 4.7) and determined complexometrically with EDTA. The method affords the sequential separation of thallium(III) from thallium(I) and also commonly associated metal ions such as Al(III), Ga(III), In(III), Fe(III), Bi(III), Sb(III) and Pb(II). It is used for analysis of synthetic mixtures of associated metal ions and alloys. The method is highly selective, simple and reproducible. The reaction takes place at room temperature and requires 15-20 min for extraction and determination of thallium(III).  相似文献

A series of metal complexes of Zn(II) and Hg(II) having the general composition [ML2]X2 with thiosemicarbazide have been prepared and characterized by elemental chemical analysis, molar conductance, and spectral (IR and mass) studies. The IR spectral data suggest the involvement of sulfur and terminal amino nitrogen in coordination to central metal ion. On the basis of spectral studies, a tetrahedral geometry has been assigned for the Zn(II) and Hg(II) complexes. Thiosemicarbazide and its metal complexes have been tested in vitro against a number of microorganisms in order to assess their antimicrobial properties. The article is published in the original.  相似文献

The compound 6,7-dihydro-3(H)-6-methyl-5-methoxy-7-oxo-vic-triazolo (4,5-d) pyrimidine (LH) has been characterized by IR, 1H-NMR and UV-visible spectroscopy. Furthermore, its acid behaviour in aqueous solutions at variable temperatures and ionic strengths have been studied. The stability constants of the complexes formed by LH with Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) metal ions at different ionic strengths and temperatures have been calculated by the method of Chabereck and Martell. From these data, the thermodynamic functions for the corresponding complexation processes have been obtained.  相似文献

Formation of ternary Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes with cytidine 5′-monophosphate (CMP) and triamines has been studied. Complexes M(CMP)(H x PA) and M(CMP)(PA) (M?=?Cd, Hg; PA?=?polyamine) were detected and overall stability constants and equilibrium constants for their formation determined. The mode of coordination in the complexes has been proposed on the basis of the equilibrium and 13C, 31P NMR and IR studies. In the Hg(II) systems, metalation involves the donor endocyclic N(3) atom, the CMP phosphate group and nitrogen donor atoms of PA. Relative to the Hg/CMP binary systems, the presence of a polyamine in ternary systems does not change the metal–nucleotide mode of coordination. In ternary systems including Hg(II) ions, the occurrence of noncovalent interactions has not been detected. Cd(II) ions form molecular complexes as well as protonated species. Introduction of a polyamine to the Cd/CMP system changes the coordination mode of the nucleotide. The phosphate group of CMP is inactive in binary complexes (metalation by the N(3) atom) but is involved in coordination in heteroligand species. In contrast to other polyamines studied, in the system including 1,7-diamino-4-azaheptane (3,3-tri), the phosphate group of CMP in Cd(CMP)(H3,3-tri) does not participate in metalation but is engaged in intramolecular noncovalent interactions that stabilize the complex.  相似文献

Two sulfur-containing hybrid calix[4]pyrrole derivatives (III and IV) have been synthesized and fully characterized. Several analytical techniques (1H NMR, conductance measurements, UV-vis spectrophotometry, titration potentiometry, and titration calorimetry) have been used to assess the interaction between these hybrid calixpyrrole receptors and metal cations in acetonitrile and dimethylsulfoxide. The partition constants of calix[4]pyrrole, I, II, and IV in the acetonitrile-hexane solvent system and the solubilities of the ligands in various solvents at 298.15 K were determined. 1H NMR measurements reveal the sites of interaction of calixpyrrole ligands with metal cations in CD3CN. Conductance and UV-vis spectrophotometric measurements were performed to establish the composition of mercury(II) calixpyrrole complexes in acetonitrile at 298.15 K. Titration calorimetry was used to quantitatively assess Hg(II)-calixpyrrole interactions. Thus the thermodynamics of complexation of calixpyrrole ligands with the mercury(II) cation in acetonitrile at 298.15 K are reported. Potentiometric titrations were also used to establish the stepwise stability constants for the complexation of calix[3]thieno[1]pyrrole with the Hg(II) cation in acetonitrile at 298.15 K. The results show that replacement of one or more pyrrole units by thiophene rings in calix[4]pyrrole has tuned significantly the discrimination ability of these ligands between anions and enables the produced hybrid calixpyrroles to bind selectively with Hg(II) in acetonitrile. No interaction was observed between these ligands and other metal cations in acetonitrile.  相似文献

The distribution of Be(II) between aqueous sulphuric acid solutions and organic phases of di-(2-ethyl hexyl)-phosphoric acid (HDEHP) has been described. The dependence of extraction on contact time, acidity, metal and extractant concentration, diluent type and temperature was thoroughly investigated. The possible mechanism of the extraction is discussed on the basis of results obtained.  相似文献
