A new ternary compound, U3Co2Ge7, has been synthesized from the corresponding elements by a high temperature reaction using molten tin flux. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic La3Co2Sn7-type (Pearson's symbol oC24, space group Cmmm, No. 65) with lattice parameters determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction as follows: a=4.145(2) Å; b=24.920(7); c=4.136(2) Å, V=427.2(3) Å3. Structure refinements confirm an ordered structure having two crystallographically inequivalent uranium atoms, occupying sites with dissimilar coordination. U3Co2Ge7 orders ferromagnetically below 40 K and undergoes a consecutive magnetic transition at 20 K. These results have been obtained from temperature- and field-dependent magnetization, resistivity and heat-capacity measurements. The estimated Sommerfeld coefficient γ=87 mJ/mol-U K2 suggests U3Co2Ge7 to be a moderately heavy-fermion material.  相似文献

Na6Co2O6 was synthesized via the azide/nitrate route by reaction between NaN3, NaNO3 and Co3O4. Stoichiometric mixtures of the starting materials were heated in a special regime up to 500°C and annealed at this temperature for 50 h in silver crucibles. Single crystals have been grown by subsequent annealing of the reaction product at 500°C for 500 h in silver crucibles, which were sealed in glass ampoules under dried Ar. According to the X-ray analysis of the crystal structure (, Z=1, a=5.7345(3), b=5.8903(3), c=6.3503(3) Å, α=64.538(2), β=89.279(2), γ=85.233(2)°, 1006 independent reflections, R1=8.34% (all data)), cobalt is tetrahedrally coordinated by oxygen. Each two CoO4 tetrahedra are linked through a common edge forming Co2O66- anions. Cobalt ions within the dimers, being in a high spin state (S=2), are ferromagnetically coupled (J=17 cm-1). An intercluster spin exchange (zJ′=−4.8 cm-1) plays a significant role below 150 K and leads to an antiferromagnetically ordered state below 30 K. Heat capacity exhibits a λ-type anomaly at this temperature and yields a value of 19.5 J/mol K for the transition entropy, which is in good agreement with the theoretical value calculated for the ordering of the ferromagnetic-coupled dimers. In order to construct a model for the spin interactions in Na6Co2O6, the magnetic properties of Na5CoO4 have been measured. This compound features isolated CoO4 tetrahedra and shows a Curie-Weiss behavior (μ=5.14 μB, Θ=−20 K) down to 15 K. An antiferromagmetic ordering is observed in this compound below 10 K.  相似文献

The new compound U2Co6Al19 was prepared by reaction of the elemental components in an arc-melting furnace followed by a heat treatment at 1050°C for 500 h. Its chemical composition was checked by energy-dispersive X-ray analyses and its crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments. It crystallizes with four formula units in the monoclinic space group C2/m in a unit cell of dimensions a=17.4617(3)Å, b=12.0474(2)Å, c=8.2003(1)Å, β=103.915(1)°. The crystal structure of U2Co6Al19 can be regarded as a superstructure of NdCo4−xGa9 structure type. This complex structure consists of a three-dimensional Co-Al framework delimiting tunnels where the U atoms reside. The shortest U-U distances are found in the c direction with alternating values of 3.98(1) and 4.22(1) Å. Temperature-dependent magnetization shows a first peak at 12.5 K and a weak ferromagnetic character below the temperature TC=8 K. Magnetization at 1.9 K reaches almost saturation in 5 T with the moment of 0.36 μB/U atom. The complex magnetic behavior of U2Co6Al19 may be ascribed to a canted spin structure resulting from an antiparallel arrangement of the magnetic moments not fully compensated at low temperature. At higher temperature, the compound displays simple paramagnetic behavior.  相似文献

The crystal structures of the two new synthetic compounds Co2TeO3Cl2 and Co2TeO3Br2 are described together with their magnetic properties. Co2TeO3Cl2 crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/m with unit cell parameters a=5.0472(6) Å, b=6.6325(9) Å, c=8.3452(10) Å, β=105.43(1)°, Z=2. Co2TeO3Br2 crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pccn with unit cell parameters a=10.5180(7) Å, b=15.8629(9) Å, c=7.7732(5) Å, Z=8. The crystal structures were solved from single crystal data, R=0.0328 and 0.0412, respectively. Both compounds are layered with only weak interactions in between the layers. The compound Co2TeO3Cl2 has [CoO4Cl2] and [CoO3Cl3] octahedra while Co2TeO3Br2 has [CoO2Br2] tetrahedra and [CoO4Br2] octahedra. The Te(IV) atoms are tetrahedrally [TeO3E] coordinated in both compounds taking the 5s2 lone electron pair E into account. The magnetic properties of the compounds are characterized predominantly by long-range antiferromagnetic ordering below 30 K.  相似文献

Effects of magnesium substitution on the magnetic properties of Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3 have been investigated by neutron powder diffraction and magnetization measurements on polycrystalline samples of composition Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3, Nd0.6Mg0.1Sr0.3MnO3, Nd0.6Mg0.1Sr0.3Mn0.9Mg0.1O3, and Nd0.6Mg0.1Sr0.3Mn0.8Mg0.2O3. The pristine compound Nd0.7Sr0.3MnO3 is ferromagnetic with a transition temperature occurring at about 210 K. Increasing the Mg-substitution causes weakened ferromagnetic interaction and a great reduction in the magnetic moment of Mn. The Rietveld analyses of the neutron powder diffraction (NPD) data at 1.5 K for the samples with Mg concentration, y=0.0 and 0.1, show ferromagnetic Mn moments of 3.44(4) and 3.14(4) μB, respectively, which order along the [001] direction. Below 20 K the Mn moments of these samples become canted giving an antiferromagnetic component along the [010] direction of about 0.4 μB at 1.5 K. The analyses also show ferromagnetic polarization along [001] of the Nd moments below 50 K, with a magnitude of almost 1 μB at 1.5 K for both samples. In the samples with Mg substitution of 0.2 and 0.3 only short range magnetic order occurs and the magnitude of the ferromagnetic Mn moments is about 1.6 μB at 1.5 K for both samples. Furthermore, the low-temperature NPD patterns show an additional very broad and diffuse feature resulting from short range antiferromagnetic ordering of the Nd moments.  相似文献

The compound CeAu0.28Ge1.72 crystallizes in the ThSi2 structure type in the tetragonal space group I41/amd with lattice parameters a=b=4.2415(6) Å c=14.640(3) Å. CeAu0.28Ge1.72 is a polar intermetallic compound having a three-dimensional Ge/Au polyanion sub-network filled with Ce atoms. The magnetic susceptibility data show Curie-Weiss law behavior above 50 K. The compound orders ferromagnetically at ∼8 K with estimated magnetic moment of 2.48 μB/Ce. The ferromagnetic ordering is confirmed by the heat capacity data which show a rise at ∼8 K. The electronic specific heat coefficient (γ) value obtained from the paramagnetic temperature range 15-25 K is∼124(5) mJ/ mol K2. The entropy change due to the ferromagnetic transition is ∼4.2 J/mol K which is appreciably reduced compared to the value of R ln(2) expected for a crystal-field-split doublet ground state and/or Kondo exchange interactions.  相似文献

The calcium cobalt oxide CaCo2O4 was synthesized for the first time and characterized from a powder X-ray diffraction study, measuring magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, electrical resistivity, and thermoelectric power. CaCo2O4 crystallizes in the CaFe2O4 (calcium ferrite)-type structure, consisting of an edge- and corner-shared CoO6 octahedral network. The structure of CaCo2O4 belongs to an orthorhombic system (space group: Pnma) with lattice parameters, a=8.789(2) Å, b=2.9006(7) Å and c=10.282(3) Å. Curie-Weiss-like behavior in magnetic susceptibility with the nearly trivalent cobalt low-spin state (Co3+, 3d, S=0), semiconductor-like temperature dependence of resistivity (ρ=3×10−1 Ω cm at 380 K) with dominant hopping conduction at low temperature, metallic-temperature-dependent large thermoelectric power (Seebeck coefficient: S=+147 μV/K at 380 K), and Schottky-type specific heat with a small Sommerfeld constant (γ=4.48(7) mJ/Co mol K2), were observed. These results suggest that the compound possesses a metallic electronic state with a small density of states at the Fermi level. The doped holes are localized at low temperatures due to disorder in the crystal. The carriers probably originate from slight off-stoichiometry of the phase. It was also found that S tends to increase even more beyond 380 K. The large S is possibly attributed to residual spin entropy and orbital degeneracy coupled with charges by strong electron correlation in the cobalt oxides.  相似文献

Ytterbium(III) tetraaquatris(tetraoxorhenate(VII)), Yb(ReO4)3(H2O)4, was prepared by the reaction of Yb2O3 with concentrated HReO4 at room temperature. The colorless compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n (No. 14) with four formula units per unit cell (a=730.5(1) pm, b=1484.1(5) pm, c=1311.7(2) pm, β=93.69(1)). The main feature of the crystal structure is the formation of chains 1[Yb(H2O)4(ReO4)2(ReO4)2/2] running along [100]. This arrangement shows distorted cubic antiprisms of [Yb(H2O)4(ReO4)2(ReO4)2/2] interconnected via the ReO4 ligands. The chains are held together in the solid by hydrogen bonding. The compound is paramagnetic and follows the Curie-Weiss law with a magnetic moment of 4.0 μB at room temperature and θ=−42 K. It loses hydration water in two steps at temperatures below 400 K; decomposition begins at 850 K, forming Yb2O3(Re2O7)2 and is complete at 1350 K leading to Yb2O3 as final product.  相似文献

The magnetic properties and the magnetocaloric effect are presented for the perovskite-related oxide SrFe0.5Co0.5O3 prepared using electrochemical oxidation. SrFe0.5Co0.5O3 exhibits a second order paramagnetic-ferromagnetic transition close to room temperature (TC=330 K). The maximal magnetic entropy change ΔSMMax , the maximal adiabatic temperature change ΔTad and the refrigerant capacity are found to be equal to respectively 4.0 J/kgK, 1.8 K and 258 J/kg while raising the B-field change from 0 to 5 T.  相似文献

Crystal structures and magnetic properties of metal telluromolybdates Co1−xZnxTeMoO6 (x=0.0, 0.1,…,0.9) are reported. All the compounds have an orthorhombic structure with space group P21212 and a charge configuration of M2+Te4+Mo6+O6. In this structure, M ions form a pseudo-two-dimensional lattice in the ab plane. Their magnetic susceptibility measurements have been performed in the temperature range between 1.8 and 300 K. The end member CoTeMoO6 shows a magnetic transition at 24.4 K. The transition temperature for solid solutions rapidly decreases with increasing x and this transition disappears between x=0.4 and 0.5, which is corresponding to the percolation limit for the square-planer lattice. From the magnetization, specific heat, and powder neutron diffraction measurements, it is found that the magnetic transition observed in the CoTeMoO6 is a canted antiferromagnetic ordering of Co2+ ions. The antiferromagnetic component of the ordered magnetic moment (3.12(3)μB at 10 K) is along the b-axis. In addition, there exists a small ferromagnetic component (0.28(3)μB) along the a-axis.  相似文献

Unique magnetic properties of a ternary uranate Ba2U2O7 are reported. Magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that this compound undergoes a magnetic transition at 19 K. Below this temperature, magnetic hysteresis was observed. The results of the low-temperature specific heat measurements below 30 K support the existence of the second-order magnetic transition at 19 K. Ba2U2O7 undergoes a canted antiferromagnetic ordering at this temperature. The magnetic anomaly which sets in at 58 K may be due to the onset of one-dimensional magnetic correlations associated with the linear chains formed by U ions. The analysis of the experimental magnetic susceptibility data in the paramagnetic temperature region gives the effective magnetic moment μeff=0.73 μB, the Weiss constant θ=−10 K, and the temperature-independent paramagnetic susceptibility χTIP=0.14×10−3 emu/mole.The magnetic susceptibility results and the optical absorption spectrum were analyzed on the basis of an octahedral crystal field model. The energy levels of Ba2U2O7 and the crystal field parameters were determined.  相似文献

We describe the preparation, structure determination and magnetic properties of two Ba perovskites containing rare-earth cations at the B-sublattice. Ba3Ln2MoO9 (Ln=Ho3+ and Er3+) were synthesized by ceramic procedures. Joint X-ray (XRPD) and neutron (NPD) powder diffraction refinements were carried out to analyse the crystal structure. At room temperature, both phases are tetragonal, space group I4/mcm, Z=4. Ln and Mo atoms are found to be distributed at random over the octahedral sites of the perovskites. Magnetic measurements at 0.1 T show that both samples are paramagnetic between 3 and 300 K, following a Curie-Weiss law. M vs. H curves show a region of paramagnetic behaviour and above 2.5 T a magnetic saturated system is observed. Finally, the temperature evolution of the NPD patterns of Ba3Ho2MoO9 reveals the absence of long-range magnetic ordering down to 2 K.  相似文献

The crystal and magnetic structures of the brownmillerite material, Ca2Fe1.039(8)Mn0.962(8)O5 were investigated using powder X-ray and neutron diffraction methods, the latter from 3.8 to 700 K. The compound crystallizes in Pnma space group with unit cell parameters of a=5.3055(5) Å, b=15.322(2) Å, c=5.4587(6) Å at 300 K. The neutron diffraction study revealed the occupancies of Fe3+ and Mn3+ ions in both octahedral and tetrahedral sites and showed some intersite mixing and a small, ∼4%, Fe excess. While bulk magnetization data were inconclusive, variable temperature neutron diffraction measurements showed the magnetic transition temperature to be 407(2) K below which a long range antiferromagnetic ordering of spins occurs with ordering wave vector k=(000). The spins of each ion are coupled antiferromagnetically with the nearest neighbors within the same layer and coupled antiparallel to the closest ions from the neighboring layer. This combination of intra- and inter-layer antiparallel arrangement of spins forms a G-type magnetic structure. The ordered moments on the octahedral and tetrahedral sites at 3.8 K are 3.64(16) and 4.23(16) μB, respectively.  相似文献

The crystal and magnetic structures of the hybrid organic-inorganic layer compound Fe[(CD3PO3)(D2O)] have been studied by neutron powder diffraction as a function of temperature down to 1.5 K. The neutron diffraction pattern recorded at 200 K shows that the fully deuterated compound crystallizes in one of the two known forms of the undeuterated Fe[(CH3PO3)(H2O)]. The crystal structure is orthorhombic, space group Pmn21, with the following unit-cell parameters: a=5.7095(1) Å, b=8.8053(3) Å and c=4.7987(1) Å; Z=2. The crystal structure remains unchanged on cooling from 200 to 1.5 K. Moreover, at low temperature, Fe[(CD3PO3)(D2O)] shows a commensurate magnetic structure (k=(0,0,0)). As revealed by bulk susceptibility measurements on Fe[(CH3PO3)(H2O)], the magnetic structure corresponds to a canted antiferromagnet with a critical temperature TN=25 K. Neutron powder diffraction reveals that below TN=23.5 K the iron magnetic moments in Fe[(CD3PO3)(D2O)] are antiferromagnetically coupled and oriented along the b-axis, perpendicular to the inorganic layers. No ferromagnetic component is observable in the neutron powder diffraction experiment, due to its too small value (<0.1μB).  相似文献

A new hybrid organic-inorganic three-dimensional compound, [Co4(OH)2(H2O)2](C4H11N2)2[C6H2(CO2)4]2·3H2O 1, has been synthesized via hydrothermal reactions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and magnetic techniques. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n (no. 14) with a=6.3029(9) Å, b=16.413(2) Å, c=17.139(2) Å, β=98.630(2)°, V=1735.0(4) Å3, Z=2. Compound 1 contains tetranuclear Co4(μ3-OH)2(H2O)2 clusters that are inter-linked by pyromellitate bridging ligands into a three-dimensional structure containing one-dimensional tunnels along the a-axis with water and pendant monoprotonated piperazine molecules in the center. The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility was measured from 2 to 300 K at 5000 Oe showing a predominantly anti-ferromagnetic interaction in 1, and the field dependence of magnetization was measured at 2, 5, 15, and 20 K indicating the competition of magnetic interactions in the tetranuclear centers.  相似文献

The interaction of diethyl (pyridyn-2-ylmethyl)phosphonate (2-pmpe) with Cu(NO3)2 · 6H2O leads to a partial hydrolysis of the starting ligand and formation of the compound of the formula Cu2(2-mpmpe)2(H2O)2(NO3)2, where 2-mpmpe = monoethyl (pyridyn-2-ylmethyl)phosphonate. The crystal and molecular structure of a copper(II) compound was determined by single X-ray diffraction method. Its structure consists of five-coordinated in distorted square planar geometry (CuNO4 chromophore) copper(II) ions doubly bridged by OPO from phosphonate. The Cu?Cu distance is 4.69 Å. The crystal packing is determined by the interdinuclear hydrogen bond system, which leads to a three-dimensional (3D) H-bonds network. The compound was characterized by infrared, ligand field, EPR spectroscopy, and magnetic studies. The magnetic properties of the title compound investigated over the 1.8–300 K, revealed the occurrence of a weak ferromagnetic coupling through phosphonate bridge (J = 1.86 cm−1) and interdimer superexchange coupling through H-bond network (zJ′ = −0.17 cm−1). Spectroscopic and magnetic properties are presented in the light of crystal structure.  相似文献

Gd5CoSi2 was prepared by annealing at 1003 K. Its investigation by the X-ray powder diffraction shows that the ternary silicide crystallizes in a tetragonal structure deriving from the Cr5B3-type (I4/mcm space group; a=7.5799(4) and c=13.5091(12) Å as unit cell parameters). The Rietveld refinement shows a mixed occupancy on the (8h) site between Si and Co atoms. Magnetization and specific heat measurements performed on Gd5CoSi2 reveal a ferromagnetic behaviour below TC=168 K. This magnetic ordering is associated to an interesting magnetocaloric effect; the adiabatic temperature change ΔTad is about 3.1 and 5.9 K, respectively, for a magnetic field change of 2 and 4.6 T.  相似文献

Single crystals of the title compound were prepared from the elements by a solid state reaction in an iodine atmosphere. Data collection were carried out using a STOE image plate detector at 293 K. The compound crystallizes in the space group P21/n of the monoclinic system isotypically to Tb4[SiS4]3 with four formular units in cells of dimensions: a=986.7(2) pm, b=1099.69(19) pm, c=1646.2(4) pm, β=102.67(3)°. The corresponding residual (all data) for the refined structure is 3.09%.The magnetic behavior of the compound was investigated on powdered samples in a temperature range between 1.7 and 300 K. The deviations from the Curie-behavior could be interpreted by the molecular field approach.  相似文献

A new phosphate compound, Mg2KNa(PO4)2·14H2O, formed in the laboratory by cyanobacteria, has been identified and its crystal structure studied with single-crystal X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The crystal is orthorhombic with the space group Pnma and unit-cell parameters a=25.1754(18) Å, b=6.9316(5) Å, c=11.2189(10) Å, V=1957.8(3) Å3. Its structure can be viewed as stacking of three types of layers along the a-axis in a sequence ABCBABCB…, where layer A is composed of Mg1(H2O)6 octahedra and Na(H2O)6 trigonal prisms, layer B of two crystallographically distinct PO43− tetrahedra (designated as P1 and P2), and layer C of Mg2(H2O)6 octahedra and highly irregular K-polyhedra formed by five H2O molecules and one O2− from the P2 tetrahedron. The linkage between layers is principally achieved through hydrogen bonding, except for the K-O5 bond between layers B and C. The structure of Mg2KNa(PO4)2·14H2O has many features similar to those for the struvite analogs of MgK(PO4)·6H2O (Acta Crystallogr. B 35 (1979) 11) or MgNa(PO4)·7H2O (Acta Crystallogr. B 38 (1982) 40) and represents the first struvite-type phosphate compound that contains both K and Na as univalent cations.  相似文献

A new hexagonal perovskite-type oxide Ba8Ta4Ru8/3Co2/3O24 was synthesized by the solid-state method at 1573 K and characterized by electron diffraction (ED), time-of-flight (TOF) neutron powder diffraction, and magnetic susceptibility. Structure parameters of Ba8Ta4Ru8/3Co2/3O24 were refined by the Rietveld method from the TOF neutron powder diffraction data on the basis of space group P63/mcm and lattice parameters a=10.0075(1) Å and c=18.9248(2) Å as obtained from the ED data (Z=3). The crystal structure of Ba8Ta4Ru8/3Co2/3O24 consists of 8-layered (cchc)2 close-packed stacking of BaO3 layers along the c-axis. Corner-shared octahedra are filled by Ta only and face-shared octahedra are statistically occupied by Ru, Co, and vacancies. Similar compounds Ba8Ta4Ru8/3M2/3O24 with M=Ni and Zn were also prepared. Magnetic susceptibility measurements showed no magnetic ordering down to 5 K.  相似文献
