We consider an abstract Cauchy problem for a system of nonhomogeneous abstract differential equations in Hilbert spaces. The “main” equation is of the second order and “boundary” equations are of the first order. Existence of a solution is proved. Application to mixed (initial boundary-value) problems for one-dimensional second order hyperbolic equations and for fourth order PDEs with the time derivative in boundary conditions has been shown. We give strong theoretical and numerical evidence that solutions to some nonlinear fourth order ordinary differential equations blow up in finite time with infinitely many wild oscillations. We exhibit an explicit example where this phenomenon occurs. We discuss possible applications to biharmonic partial differential equations and to the suspension bridges model. In particular, we give a possible new explanation of the collapse of bridges.  相似文献

The mathematical models representing machine tool chatter dynamics have been cast as differential equations with delay. The suppression of regenerative chatter by spindle speed variation is attracting increasing attention. In this paper, we study nonlinear delay differential equations with periodic delays which models the machine tool chatter with continuously modulated spindle speed. The explicit time-dependent delay terms, due to spindle speed modulation, are replaced by state dependent delay terms by augmenting the original equations. The augmented system of equations is autonomous and has two pairs of pure imaginary eigenvalues without resonance. The reduced bifurcation equation is obtained by making use of Lyapunov–Schmidt Reduction method.  相似文献

We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of periodic orbits of some systems of delay differential equations with a unique delay. We extend Kaplan-Yorke's method for finding periodic orbits from a delay differential equation with several delays to a system of delay differential equations with a unique delay.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to give a wide introduction to approximation concepts in the theory of stochastic differential equations. The paper is principally concerned with Zong-Zakai approximations. Our aim is to fill a gap in the literature caused by the complete lack of monographs on such approximation methods for stochastic differential equations; this will be the objective of the author's forthcoming book. First, we briefly review the currently-known approximation results for finite- and infinite-dimensional equations. Then the author's results are preceded by the introduction of two new forms of correction terms in infinite dimensions appearing in the Wong-Zakai approximations. Finally, these results are divided into four parts: for stochastic delay equations, for semilinear and nonlinear stochastic equations in abstract spaces, and for the Navier-Stokes equations. We emphasize in this paper results rather than proofs. Some applications are indicated. The author's research was partially supported by KBN grant No. 2 P301 052 03.  相似文献

We study the blow up behaviour of nonlinear parabolic equations including a time degeneracy, under dynamical boundary conditions. For some exponential and polynomial degeneracies, we develop some energy methods and some spectral comparison techniques and derive upper bounds for the blow up times.  相似文献

Entire solutions for monostable reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay in one-dimensional spatial domain are considered. A comparison argument is employed to prove the existence of entire solutions which behave as two traveling wave solutions coming from both directions. Some new entire solutions are also constructed by mixing traveling wave solutions with heteroclinic orbits of the spatially averaged ordinary differential equations, and the existence of such a heteroclinic orbit is established using the monotone dynamical systems theory. Key techniques include the characterization of the asymptotic behaviors of solutions as t→−∞ in term of appropriate subsolutions and supersolutions. Two models of reaction-diffusion equations with nonlocal delay arising from mathematical biology are given to illustrate main results.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider mixed problems with a spacelike boundary derivative condition for semilinear wave equations with exponential nonlinearities in a quarter plane. Results similar to those obtained earlier by Caffarelli-Friedman for Cauchy problems and power nonlinearities are proved in the present situation, namely we show that solutions either are global or blow up on a spacelike curve. Weaker results are also obtained if the boundary vector field is tangent to the characteristic which leaves the domain in the future. In this article, we study the reduced bifurcation equations of the nonlinear delay differential equations with periodic delays, which models the machine tool chatter with continuously modulated spindle speed to determine the periodic solutions and analyze the tool motion. Analytical results show both modest increase of stability and existence of periodic solutions close to the new stability boundary.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to study the stability for some linear partial functional differential equations. We assume that the linear part is non-densely defined and satisfies the Hille-Yosida condition. Using the positiveness, we give nessecary and sufficient conditions independently of the delay to ensure the uniform exponential stability of the solution semigroup. An application is given for a reaction diffusion equation with several delays. In this paper, nonlocal dynamics of a system of two differential equations with a compactly supported nonlinearity and delay is studied. For some set of initial conditions asymptotics of solutions of considered system is constructed. By this asymptotics we build a special mapping. Dynamics of this mapping describes dynamics of initial system in general: it is proved that stable cycles of this mapping correspond to exponentially orbitally stable relaxation periodic solutions of initial system of delay differential equations. It is shown that amplitude, period of solutions of initial system, and number of coexisting stable solutions depend crucially on coupling parameter. Algorithm for constructing many coexisting stable solutions is described.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence, uniqueness and globally asymptotic stability of traveling wave fronts in the quasi-monotone reaction advection diffusion equations with nonlocal delay. Under bistable assumption, we construct various pairs of super- and subsolutions and employ the comparison principle and the squeezing technique to prove that the equation has a unique nondecreasing traveling wave front (up to translation), which is monotonically increasing and globally asymptotically stable with phase shift. The influence of advection on the propagation speed is also considered. Comparing with the previous results, our results recovers and/or improves a number of existing ones. In particular, these results can be applied to a reaction advection diffusion equation with nonlocal delayed effect and a diffusion population model with distributed maturation delay, some new results are obtained.  相似文献

Summary Stochastic partial differential equations in smooth domains are considered in functional spaces of Sobolev type. The spaces are defined with the help of certain weights, which allow the derivatives of functions from these spaces to blow up near the boundary. Existence and uniqueness theorems are obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a class of pseudo-monotone maps on ordered topological spaces. By exploiting monotonicity methods and the invariance of the omega limit set, we establish a convergence principle for discrete-time semiflows generated by the maps introduced. The convergence principle is then applied to a class of periodic neutral delay differential equations, which leads to some novel and sharper results.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the stochastic functional differential equations with infinite delay. Some sufficient conditions are derived to ensure the pth moment exponential stability and pth moment global asymptotic stability of stochastic functional differential equations with infinite delay by using Razumikhin method and Lyapunov functions. Based on the obtained results, we further study the pth moment exponential stability of stochastic recurrent neural networks with unbounded distributed delays. The result extends and improves the earlier publications. Two examples are given to illustrate the applicability of the obtained results.  相似文献

For abstract functional differential equations and reaction-diffusion equations with delay, an exponential ordering is introduced which takes into account the spatial diffusion. The induced monotonicity of the solution semiflows is established and applied to describe the threshold dynamics (extinction or persistence/convergence to positive equilibria) for a nonlocal and delayed reaction-diffusion population model.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the attainable order ofm-stage implicit (collocation-based) Runge-Kutta methods for differential equations and Volterra integral equations of the second kind with variable delay of the formqt (0<q<1). It will be shown that, in contrast to equations without delay, or equations with constant delay, collocation at the Gauss (-Legendre) points will no longer yield the optimal (local) orderO(h 2m ). In this paper we develop the necessary conditions of optimality for a class of distributed parameter systems (partial differential equations) determined by operator valued measures and controlled by vector measures. Based on some recent results on existence of optimal controls from the space of vector measures, we develop necessary conditions of optimality for a class of control problems. The main results are the necessary conditions of optimality for problems without state constraints and those with state constraints. Also, a conceptual algorithm along with a brief discussion of its convergence is presented.  相似文献

The paper carries the results on Takens-Bogdanov bifurcation obtained in [T. Faria, L.T. Magalhães, Normal forms for retarded functional differential equations and applications to Bogdanov-Takens singularity, J. Differential Equations 122 (1995) 201-224] for scalar delay differential equations over to the case of delay differential systems with parameters. Firstly, we give feasible algorithms for the determination of Takens-Bogdanov singularity and the generalized eigenspace associated with zero eigenvalue in Rn. Next, through center manifold reduction and normal form calculation, a concrete reduced form for the parameterized delay differential systems is obtained. Finally, we describe the bifurcation behavior of the parameterized delay differential systems with T-B singularity in detail and present an example to illustrate the results.  相似文献
