A previous study of the energy-momentum tensor in ?4 theory and spontaneously broken non-Abelian gauge field theories is extended here to show finiteness to all orders in perturbation theory. Divergences of Green's functions Γμν(j) (q; p1, …, pj) involving the energy-momentum tensor θμν and j particle fields are removed by counterterms of the ordinary Lagrangian plus a renormalization of the coefficient of the Callan-Coleman-Jackiw improvement term in θμν. Physically the extra renormalization means that the mean square “mass radius” of elementary spin zero particles must be specified from experiment.  相似文献

We show that instanton effects may play an important role in the decay of scalar mesons into two pseudoscalars. Particularly the branching ratios of two meson decays of the f0(1500), which is considered as a glue-ball candidate, are compatible with an ordinary q -structure of this resonance and a small positive SU(3) mixing angle, in agreement with a result from a recent calculation of the spectrum with the same instanton-induced force. Predictions for the a0(1450)-branching ratios are made.  相似文献

Extended inflation solution in Brans-Dicke theory given by Mathiazhagan and Johri (MJ) is shown as the unique solution only if the scale factor is assumed to be a power function of the scalar field. Only the consistent solution amongst the set of solutions given by Patra, Roy and Ray is found identical to the MJ solution. Both exponential inflation and power function inflation are studied in general scalar tensor theory where the parameter to is a function of the scalar, field. It is noted that exponential inflation is forbidden in Brans-Dicke theory wherew is a constant.  相似文献

We present the first experimental discrimination between the 2e/3 and 4e/3 top quark electric charge scenarios, using top quark pairs (tt) produced in pp collisions at (square root) s = 1.96 TeV by the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We use 370 pb;{-1} of data collected by the D0 experiment and select events with at least one high transverse momentum electron or muon, high transverse energy imbalance, and four or more jets. We discriminate between b- and b-quark jets by using the charge and momenta of tracks within the jet cones. The data are consistent with the expected electric charge, |q|=2e/3. We exclude, at the 92% C.L., that the sample is solely due to the production of exotic quark pairs QQ with |q|=4e/3. We place an upper limit on the fraction of QQ pairs rho<0.80 at the 90% C.L.  相似文献

We discuss the predictions of the standard model for the scalar form factors of K 3 decays. Our analysis is based on the results of chiral perturbation theory, large N c estimates of low-energy couplings and dispersive methods. The cross sections for the formation of scalar resonances, leptoquarks or squarks, in electron/positron-proton collisions at HERA are presented, including next-to-leading order QCD corrections. Depending mildly on the mass of the resonances, the K-factors increase the production cross sections by up to 30% if the target quarks are valence quarks. The QCD corrections to the partial decay widths of leptoquarks/ squarks to leptons and quarks are small. The electron spectrum in the decays is nevertheless softened by perturbative gluon radiation at a level of 2 GeV for a leptoquark/ squark mass of 200 GeV.  相似文献

The decay K+ → e+υγ has been investigated. For the structure-dependent part with positive γ-helicity (SD+) the branching ratio Γ(SD+)Γ(Kμ2) = (2.33 ± 0.42) × 10?5 is obtained from 51 ± 3 events observed in the kinematical region Ee ? 235 MeV, Eγ > 48 MeV and θeγ > 140°. For the corresponding part with negative γ-helicity we obtain an upper limit Γ(SD?)/Γ(SD+) < 11 (90% CL) from the sample of electrons with energies 220 MeV ? Ee < 230 MeV and with no γ in the backward direction. This upper limit implies that the ratio of structure-dependent axial vector amplitudes lies outside the region ?1.8 < aKυK < ?0.54.For the decay K+e+ννν the limit Γ(K+e+ννν)/Γ(Ke2) < 3.8 90% confidence level) was found.  相似文献
