The purpose of this article is to determine the heat transfer and hydraulic drag in thin annular pebble beds with axial gas flow and investigate the flow distribution along annular pebble beds with radial flow. The experimental investigations showed that in thin annular pebble beds heat transfer values, equal to those for large (unlimited) pebble beds, could be achieved. The observed distributions of the radial flow in annular pebble beds demonstrated that regulation of flow distribution is possible by changing the permeability of the inner wall (outlet header) of the annular channel.  相似文献

Resistivity measurements have been performed on silicon powder beds with different thicknesses which were submitted to uniaxial pressure (0-640 MPa). For the smallest thicknesses of the Si pellets, the pressure dependence of conductivity may be described using models based on effective medium theory or strongest stresses network. For largest Si thicknesses, it exists an inhomogeneous distribution of pressure in the granular medium as a consequence of arching effects. It is shown that the conductivity variation with Si powder thickness may be understood using a distribution of conductivity induced by the distribution of pressure. Finally, it is shown that the conductivity of the sintered Si pellets is correlated with the uniaxial compression step. EPR data (i.e. the distribution of Mn2+ in carbonate rocks and of free radicals in terrigenous rocks) may be used to characterize sedimentary beds, especially if they are unfossilferous. The study of the distribution of Mn2+ that substitutes Mg2+ and Ca2+ in sedimentary dolomites suggests that the distribution is affected by their genesis.  相似文献

The squid Loligo opalescens is a key species in the nearshore pelagic community of California, supporting the most valuable state marine fishery, yet the stock biomass is unknown. In southern Monterey Bay, extensive beds occur on a flat, sandy bottom, water depths 20-60 m, thus sidescan sonar is a prima-facie candidate for use in rapid, synoptic, and noninvasive surveying. The present study describes development of an acoustic method to detect, identify, and quantify squid egg beds by means of high-frequency sidescan-sonar imagery. Verification of the method has been undertaken with a video camera carried on a remotely operated vehicle. It has been established that sidescan sonar images can be used to predict the presence or absence of squid egg beds. The lower size limit of detectability of an isolated egg bed is about 0.5 m with a 400-kHz sidescan sonar used with a 50-m range when towed at 3 knots. It is possible to estimate the abundance of eggs in a region of interest by computing the cumulative area covered by the egg beds according to the sidescan sonar image. In a selected quadrat one arc second on each side, the estimated number of eggs was 36.5 million.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a influence-based approach to investigate network-based recommendation systems. Different from the previous mass diffusion approach, we give a new expression of initial resource distribution and take into account the influence of resources associated with the receiver nodes. According to ranking score and two measures about the degree of personalization, we demonstrate that our method can outperform the previous methods greatly. It’s found that there exists an optimal initial resource distribution that leads to the best algorithmic accuracy and personalization strength. The optimal initial resource distribution indicates that we should increase the initial resource located on popular objects, rather than decrease them.  相似文献

This paper presents a combined study of laboratory scale fire spread experiments and a three-dimensional large eddy simulation (LES) to analyze the effect of terrain slope on marginal burning behavior in live chaparral shrub fuel beds. Line fire was initiated in single species fuel beds of four common chaparral plants under various fuel bed configurations and ambient conditions. An LES approach was developed to model fire spreading through a fuel bed with a subgrid scale turbulent combustion model based on a flame surface density concept. By examining two fuel bed slope configurations, it was found that upslope fire spread depends not only on the increased radiant heat transfer but also on the aerodynamic effect created by the interaction of the flame with the inclined surface. Under certain conditions, the convective heat transfer induced by this interaction becomes the dominant mechanism in determining fire spread success. Seventy-three (or 42%) of 173 experimental fires successfully propagated for slopes ranging from −70% to 70%. It was found there exists a critical slope above which fire spread in these live fuel beds was successful, and below which fire spread was unsuccessful. This critical slope for marginal burning varied widely with fuel moisture content and fuel loading. A stepwise logistic regression model was developed from experimental data to predict the probability of successful fire spread. It is expected that this model may be helpful in providing guidelines for prescribed fire application.  相似文献

Nanoparticles and nanocomposites have become a major focus of interest in science and technology due to exceptional properties they provide. However, handling and processing of ultra-fine powders is very challenging because they are extremely cohesive. Fluidization is one of techniques available to process powders. It has become increasingly important to understand how these nanoparticles can be handled and processed to benefit from their favourable properties. A high spatial (down to 400 nm) and temporal resolution (down to 1 ms) X-ray imaging apparatus has been designed to study nanoparticles in fluidized beds under different gas flow velocities. The mean volume distribution of the nanoparticle agglomerates was determined with X-ray microtomography. The X-ray microtomography technique provides valuable in situ, non-destructive structural information on the morphological changes that take place during fluidisation of powder samples.  相似文献

We report experimental observations of polygon-shaped patterns formed in a vertically vibrated bed of circular cross-section. A phase map is determined, showing that the polygon pattern is established for ?? = A(2??f)2/g ? 10 . The sensitivity of the polygon structure to bed parameters was tested by studying beds of different particle sizes and fill levels. It was hypothesized that the polygon pattern observed in cylindrical beds is the corresponding pattern to the formation of arches in square-shaped beds. The close relationship between these two patterns was demonstrated by two observations: i) the radii of the arches of a corresponding square bed and the inner radius of the cylindrical bed were found to be very similar and ii) the boundary lengths of the two patterns were in good agreement.   相似文献

This paper studies the evolution of wave in the system of a pure anharmonic lattice with a double well on-site potential by numerical calculation. It finds that an initial distribution of static or moving wave can evolve into two travelling soliton-like trains with contrary directions and a region of oscillation in this lattice system. It presents that some cases with cosine-square-shape and Gaussian-shape initial distribution of static or moving wave will produce ordered soliton-like train. Careful numerical observation shows that the centre oscillation region in this system may act as a resource of generating soliton-like train.  相似文献

Localized period-doubling waves arise in circularly shaken granular beds contained in an annular channel. These solitary wave packets are accompanied by a locally increased particle density. The width and velocity of the granular wave pulse are measured as a function of the bed height. A continuum model for the material distribution, based on the measured granular transport velocity as a function of the bed thickness, captures the essence of the experimental findings.  相似文献

本文基于实测数据抽象出用户网络与资源网络,探讨了对等网络中用户、资源及其内部的相互作用关系,发掘并分析了其内在的网络统计特征. 分析结果表明,用户节点度值及权值呈分段分布,体现了其各异的活跃性;网络资源的流行度差异明显,度值和权值近似呈幂律分布. 用户网络与资源网络存在分簇结构,少数簇中含大量节点,多数簇所含节点数量较少. 用户网络中,同簇内的用户有着相似的兴趣趋向,不同簇用户间兴趣趋向存在着差异,资源网络各簇中不同类别的资源间呈现出明显的关联性.  相似文献

The industrial supply chain networks basically capture the circulation of social resource, dominating the stability and efficiency of the industrial system. In this paper, we provide an empirical study of the topology of smartphone supply chain network. The supply chain network is constructed using open online data. Our experimental results show that the smartphone supply chain network has small-world feature with scale-free degree distribution, in which a few high degree nodes play a key role in the function and can effectively reduce the communication cost. We also detect the community structure to find the basic functional unit. It shows that information communication between nodes is crucial to improve the resource utilization. We should pay attention to the global resource configuration for such electronic production management.  相似文献

Pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance (PFG-NMR) and NMR imaging were used to study temporal and spatial domains of an electrokinetically-driven mobile phase through open and packed segments of capillaries. Characteristics like velocity distribution and an asymptotic dispersion are contrasted to viscous flow behavior. We show that electroosmotic flow in microchannel geometries can offer a significant performance advantage over the pressure-driven flows at comparable Peclét numbers, indicating that velocity extremes in the pore space of open tubes and packed beds are drastically reduced. An inherent problem of capillary electrochromatography that we finally address is the existence of wall effects when in the general case the surface zeta-potentials of the capillary inner wall and the adsorbent particles are different. Using dynamic NMR microscopy we were able resolve this systematic velocity inequality of the flow pattern which strongly influences axial dispersion and may be responsible for long time-tails of velocity distribution in the mobile phase.  相似文献

实验研究了竖直振动情况下,窄容器中颗粒的运动模式.发现运动模式与颗粒床厚度及振动加速度有很强的依赖关系.实验表明横向尺寸较小的容器可以抑制对流卷及拱起现象.对于足够厚的颗粒床,即使振动加速度很大,颗粒床下部仍然存在着颗粒聚集态.出现聚集态时,颗粒床对容器底的冲击力是倍周期分岔的.实验表明倍周期分岔点与颗粒床厚度无关.对于较薄的颗粒床,颗粒可以是聚集态或对流卷,视颗粒尺寸而定.如果使用尺寸分布非常窄的球形颗粒,可以观察到颗粒的有序排列.出现同心的圆筒形“壳”结构,每个“壳”上的颗粒是二维六角密排列的. 关键词: 颗粒物质 倍周期分岔 颗粒聚集态 球堆积  相似文献

A high field strength, constant gradient stimulated-echo pulse sequence is applied to a model heterogeneous system consisting of randomly packed beds of glass microspheres. A multiple exponential analysis of the dependence of the stimulated echo amplitude on diffusion time, Δ, yields coefficients that depend explicitly on both the wavevector, q and on the time delay, δ. The wavevector and δ-dependence of the coefficients is analyzed both theoretically and experimentally and shown to be sensitive to the effects of coupled relaxation and diffusion. It is proposed that these effects could be exploited as a new probe of microstructure.  相似文献

We propose a resource distribution strategy to reduce the average travel time in a transportation network under a given generation rate. Suppose that there are essential resources to avoid congestion in the network as well as some extra resources. The strategy distributes the essential resources by the average loads on the vertices and integrates the fluctuations of the instantaneous loads into the distribution of the extra resources. The fluctuations are calculated with the assumption of unlimited resources, where the calculation is incorporated into the calculation of the average loads without adding to the time complexity. Simulation results show that in scale-free networks, the fluctuation-integrated strategy provides shorter average travel time than a previous distribution strategy while keeping similar robustness; the benefit of our strategy is especially noticeable when the extra resources are scarce.  相似文献

Two-dimensionalT 1?T 2 correlation spectroscopy is used to monitor the effect of high-pressure and microwave processing on the microscopic water distribution and starch chain dynamics in water-saturated packed beds of native A and B type starches. B type starches are shown to be more resistant to pressure treatment than A type starches. High-pressure-induced A type starch gels are also shown to be radically different from the corresponding thermally induced gel. Although the cell walls of raw potato are resistant to high-pressure damage, the tonoplast and plasmalemma membranes are disrupted by high pressure.  相似文献

The implementation of thermochemical systems based on the reaction between chlorides and ammonia involves certain unusual aspects of thermodynamics and reactivity as well as peculiarities in the evolution of the grain texture and of the beds during the reaction. It is the evolution of the beds that is the most unusual, calling for appropriate solutions involving new implementations of porous beds with optimal characteristics of elasticity and heat and mass transfer. The choice of either multi-effect or multi-salt systems depends on the experimental performances of laboratory pilot systems currently under test or development, and on the real costs derived from experimentation with industrial prototypes.  相似文献
