We present the nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation of fractional order. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. The Adomian decomposition method (ADM) in applied mathematics can be used as alternative methods for obtaining analytic and approximate solutions for different types of fractional differential equations. In these schemes, the solution constructed in power series with easily computable components.  相似文献

We investigate the properties of modulational instability and discrete breathers in the cubic-quintic discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We analyze the regions of modulational instabilities of nonlinear plane waves. Using the Page approach [J.B. Page, Phys. Rev. B 41 (1990) 7835], we derive the conditions for the existence and stability for bright discrete breather solutions. It is shown that the quintic nonlinearity brings qualitatively new conditions for stability of strongly localized modes. The application to the existence of localized modes in the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) with three-body interactions in an optical lattice is discussed. The numerical simulations agree with the analytical predictions.  相似文献

Field equations with time and coordinate derivatives of noninteger order are derived from a stationary action principle for the cases of power-law memory function and long-range interaction in systems. The method is applied to obtain a fractional generalization of the Ginzburg-Landau and nonlinear Schrödinger equations. As another example, dynamical equations for particle chains with power-law interaction and memory are considered in the continuous limit. The obtained fractional equations can be applied to complex media with/without random parameters or processes.  相似文献

In this paper, the discrete split-step multi-wavelet method (DSSMWM) is used to solve nonlinear Schrödinger equation. When the relative amplitude error is below10−3magnitude, relative error of amplitude evolution, relative error of pulse broadening ratio, relative phase error, and computing time is respectively achieved. Because multi-wavelet is extraordinary effective for data compression, it only needs to deal with very little data. It can be seen that although the relative amplitude error, relative error of amplitude evolution, relative error of pulse broadening rate and relative phase error changes little, but the computing time are greatly reduced.  相似文献

The variational approximation is a well known tool to approximate localized states in nonlinear systems. In the context of a discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a small coupling constant, we prove error estimates for the variational approximations of site-symmetric, bond-symmetric, and twisted discrete solitons. This is shown for various trial configurations, which become increasingly more accurate as more parameters are taken. It is also shown that the variational approximation yields the correct spectral stability result and controls the oscillatory dynamics of stable discrete solitons for long but finite time intervals.  相似文献

Linear stability of solitary waves near transcritical bifurcations is analyzed for the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equations with arbitrary forms of nonlinearity and external potentials in arbitrary spatial dimensions. Bifurcation of linear-stability eigenvalues associated with this transcritical bifurcation is analytically calculated. Based on this eigenvalue bifurcation, it is shown that both solution branches undergo stability switching at the transcritical bifurcation point. In addition, the two solution branches have opposite linear stability. These analytical results are compared with the numerical results, and good agreement is obtained.  相似文献

We analyze the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a saturable nonlinearity through the (G/G)-expansion method to present some improved results. Three types of analytic solutions with arbitrary parameters are constructed; hyperbolic, trigonometric, and rational which have not been explicitly computed before.  相似文献

We address the existence of traveling single-humped localized solutions in the spatially discrete nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation. A mathematical technique is developed for analysis of persistence of these solutions from a certain limit in which the dispersion relation of linear waves contains a triple zero. The technique is based on using the Implicit Function Theorem for solution of an appropriate differential advance-delay equation in exponentially weighted spaces. The resulting Melnikov calculation relies on a number of assumptions on the spectrum of the linearization around the pulse, which are checked numerically. We apply the technique to the so-called Salerno model and the translationally invariant discrete NLS equation with a cubic nonlinearity. We show that the traveling solutions terminate in the Salerno model whereas they generally persist in the translationally invariant NLS lattice as a one-parameter family of solutions. These results are found to be in a close correspondence with numerical approximations of traveling solutions with zero radiation tails. Analysis of persistence also predicts the spectral stability of the one-parameter family of traveling solutions under time evolution of the discrete NLS equation.  相似文献

In this work, we generalize previous results about the Fractionary Schrödinger Equation within the formalism of the theory of Tempered Ultradistributions. Several examples of the use of this theory are given. In particular we evaluate the Green function for a free particle in the general case, for an arbitrary order of the derivative index.  相似文献

Propagating modes in a class of ‘nonic’ derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations incorporating ninth order nonlinearity are investigated by application of two key invariants of motion. A nonlinear equation for the squared wave amplitude is derived thereby which allows the exact representation of periodic patterns as well as localized bright and dark pulses in terms of elliptic and their classical hyperbolic limits. These modes represent a balance among cubic, quintic and nonic nonlinearities.  相似文献

The modulational instability of perturbed plane-wave solutions of the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation is examined in the presence of three forms of dissipation. We present two families of decreasing-in-magnitude plane-wave solutions to this dissipative NLS equation. We establish that all such solutions that have no spatial dependence are linearly stable, though some perturbations may grow a finite amount. Further, we establish that all such solutions that have spatial dependence are linearly unstable if a certain form of dissipation is present.  相似文献

The present work examines in detail the existence, stability and dynamics of travelling solitary waves in a Schrödinger lattice with saturable nonlinearity. After analysing the linear spectrum of the problem in the travelling wave frame, a pseudo-spectral numerical method is used to identify weakly nonlocal solitary waves. By finding zeros of an appropriately crafted tail condition, we can obtain the genuinely localized pulse-like solutions. Subsequent use of continuation methods allows us to obtain the relevant branches of solutions as a function of the system parameters, such as the frequency and intersite coupling strength. We examine the stability of the solutions in two ways: both by imposing numerical perturbations and observing the solution dynamics, as well as by considering the solutions as fixed points of an appropriate map and computing the corresponding Floquet matrix and its eigenvalues. Both methods indicate that our solutions are robustly localized. Finally, the interactions of these solutions are examined in collision type phenomena, observing that relevant collisions are near-elastic, although they may, under appropriate conditions, lead to the generation of an additional pulse.  相似文献

We study the dynamics of the cubic–quintic nonlinear Schr?dinger equation by the symplectic method. The behaviors of the equation are discussed with harmonically modulated initial conditions, and the contributions from the quintic term are discussed. We observe the elliptic orbit, homoclinic orbit crossing, quasirecurrence, and stochastic motion with different nonlinear parameters in this system. Numerical simulations show that the changing processes of the motion of the system and the trajectories in the phase space are various for different cubic nonlinear parameters with the increase of the quintic nonlinear parameter.  相似文献

We study the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger lattice model with the onsite nonlinearity of the general form, |u|2σu. We systematically verify the conditions for the existence and stability of discrete solitons in the one-dimensional version of the model predicted by means of the variational approximation (VA), and demonstrate the following: monostability of fundamental solitons (FSs) in the case of the weak nonlinearity, 2σ+1<3.68; bistability, in a finite range of values of the soliton’s power, for 3.68<2σ+1<5; and the presence of a threshold (minimum norm of the FS), for 2σ+1≥5. We also perform systematic numerical simulations to study higher-order solitons in the same general model, i.e., bound states of the FSs. While all in-phase bound states are unstable, stability regions are identified for antisymmetric double solitons and their triple counterparts. These numerical findings are supplemented by an analytical treatment of the stability problem, which allows quantitively accurate predictions for the stability features of such multipulses. When these waveforms are found to be unstable, we show, by means of direct simulations, that they self-trap into a persistent lattice breather, or relax into a stable FS, or sometimes decay completely.  相似文献

We investigate dynamical aspects of the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation in finite lattices. Starting from a periodic chain with nearest neighbor interactions, we insert randomly links connecting distant pairs of sites across the lattice. Using localized initial conditions we focus on the time averaged probability of occupation of the initial site as a function of the degree of complexity of the lattice and nonlinearity. We observe that selftrapping occurs at increasingly larger values of the nonlinearity parameter as the lattice connectivity increases, while close to the fully coupled network limit, localization becomes more preferred. For nonlinearity values above a certain threshold we find a reentrant localization transition, viz. localization when the number of long distant bonds is small followed by delocalization and enhanced transport at intermediate bond numbers while close to the fully connected limit localization reappears.  相似文献

We develop a complete mathematical theory for the symmetrical solutions of the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation based on the concept of angular pseudomomentum. We consider the symmetric solitons of a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a nonlinearity depending on the modulus of the field. We provide a rigorous proof of a set of mathematical results justifying that these solitons can be classified according to the irreducible representations of a discrete group. Then we extend this theory to non-stationary solutions and study the relationship between angular momentum and pseudomomentum. We illustrate these theoretical results with numerical examples.  相似文献

The subject of this study is the long-time equilibration dynamics of a strongly disordered one-dimensional chain of coupled weakly anharmonic classical oscillators. It is shown that chaos in this system has a very particular spatial structure: it can be viewed as a dilute gas of chaotic spots. Each chaotic spot corresponds to a stochastic pump which drives the Arnold diffusion of the oscillators surrounding it, thus leading to their relaxation and thermalization. The most important mechanism of equilibration at long distances is provided by random migration of the chaotic spots along the chain, which bears analogy with variable-range hopping of electrons in strongly disordered solids. The corresponding macroscopic transport equations are obtained.  相似文献
