Spectra of jet-cooled methanol in the overtone and combination region from 5000 to 14 000 cm(-1) have been obtained by means of infrared laser-assisted photofragment spectroscopy. Many of the observed features are assigned to combination bands of the type nnu(1)+nu(6), nnu(1)+nu(8), and nnu(1)+nu(6)+nu(8) (n=1,2,3), where nu(1) is the OH stretch, nu(6) is the OH bend, and nu(8) is the CO stretch. These bands show sharp torsion-rotation structure with features as narrow as 0.1 cm(-1). We also observe CH stretch overtones that are weaker than the OH containing combination bands and lack distinct torsion-rotation structure above v(CH)=2. The extent of observed structure on these bands allows us to place limits on the intramolecular vibrational energy redistribution decay rates in the upper vibrational states. We report a global fit of the observed band centers to a simple expression involving low-order anharmonicity constants.  相似文献

State-resolved reactions of CH3D molecules containing both C-H and C-D stretching excitation with Cl atoms provide new vibrational spectroscopy and probe the consumption and disposal of vibrational energy in the reactions. The vibrational action spectra have three different components, the combination of the C-H symmetric stretch and the C-D stretch (nu1 + nu2), the combination of the C-D stretch and the C-H antisymmetric stretch (nu2 + nu4), and the combination of the C-D stretch and the first overtone of the CH3 bend (nu2 + 2nu5). The simulation for the previously unanalyzed (nu2 + nu4) state yields a band center of nu0 = 5215.3 cm(-1), rotational constants of A = 5.223 cm(-1) and B = 3.803 cm(-1), and a Coriolis coupling constant of zeta = 0.084. The reaction dynamics largely follow a spectator picture in which the surviving bond retains its initial vibrational excitation. In at least 80% of the reactive encounters of vibrationally excited CH3D with Cl, cleavage of the C-H bond produces CH2D radicals with an excited C-D stretch, and cleavage of the C-D bond produces CH3 radicals with an excited C-H stretch. Deviations from the spectator picture seem to reflect mixing in the initially prepared eigenstates and, possibly, collisional coupling during the reaction.  相似文献

Weak vibrational bands of (16)O(3) could be detected in the 5850-7030 cm(-1) spectral region by CW-cavity ring down spectroscopy using a set of fibered DFB diode lasers. As a result of the high sensitivity (noise equivalent absorption alpha(min) approximately 3 x 10(-10) cm(-1)), bands reaching a total of 16 upper vibrational states have been previously reported in selected spectral regions. In the present report, the analysis of the whole investigated region is completed by new recordings in three spectral regions which have allowed: (i) a refined analysis of the nu(1) + 3nu(2) + 3nu(3) band from new spectra in the 5850-5900 cm(-1) region; (ii) an important extension of the assignments of the 2nu(1)+5nu(3) and 4nu(1) + 2nu(2) + nu(3) bands in the 6500-6600 cm(-1) region, previously recorded by frequency modulation diode laser spectroscopy. The rovibrational assignments of the weak 4nu(1) + 2nu(2) + nu(3) band were fully confirmed by the new observation of the 4nu(1) + 2nu(2) + nu(3)- nu(2) hot band near 5866.9 cm(-1) reaching the same upper state; (iii) the observation and modelling of three A-type bands at 6895.51, 6981.87 and 6990.07 cm(-1) corresponding to the highest excited vibrational bands of ozone detected so far at high resolution. The upper vibrational states were assigned by comparison of their energy values with calculated values obtained from the ground state potential energy surface of (16)O(3). The vibrational mixing and consequently the ambiguities in the vibrational labelling are discussed. For each band or set of interacting bands, the spectroscopic parameters were determined from a fit of the corresponding line positions in the frame of the effective Hamiltonian (EH) model. A set of selected absolute line intensities was measured and used to derive the parameters of the effective transition moment operator. The exhaustive review of the previous observations gathered with the present results is presented and discussed. It leads to a total number of 3863 energy levels belonging to 21 vibrational states and corresponding to 7315 transitions. In the considered spectral region corresponding to up to 82% of the dissociation energy, the increasing importance of the "dark" states is illustrated by the occurrence of frequent rovibrational perturbations and the observation of many weak lines still unassigned.  相似文献

Transient electronic absorption following excitation of the first C-H stretching overtone (2nu(CH)) or a C-H stretch-bend combination (nu(CH) + nu(bend)) monitors the flow of vibrational energy in cis-stilbene and in trans-stilbene. Following a rapid initial rise as energy flows into states interrogated by the probe pulse, the absorption decays with two time constants, which are about a factor of 2 longer for the cis-isomer than for the trans-isomer. The decay times for cis-stilbene are tau2(cis) = (2.6 +/- 1.5) ps and tau3(cis) = (24.1 +/- 2.1) ps, and those for trans-stilbene are tau2(trans) = (1.4 +/- 0.6) ps and tau3(trans) = (10.2 +/- 1.1) ps. The decay times are essentially the same in different solvents, suggesting that the relaxation is primarily intramolecular. The two decay times are consistent with the sequential flow of energy through sets of coupled states within the molecule, and the difference in the rates for the two isomers likely reflects differences in coupling among the states arising from the different structures of the isomers. The similarity of the time evolution following excitation of the first C-H overtone at 5990 cm(-1) and the stretch-bend combination at 4650 cm(-1) is consistent with a subset of states, whose structure is similar for the two vibrational excitation energies, controlling the observed flow of energy.  相似文献

Peroxynitrous acid (HOONO) is generated in a pulsed supersonic expansion through recombination of photolytically generated OH and NO(2) radicals. A rotationally resolved infrared action spectrum of HOONO is obtained in the OH overtone region at 6971.351(4) cm(-1) (origin), providing definitive spectroscopic identification of the trans-perp (tp) conformer of HOONO. Analysis of the rotational band structure yields rotational constants for the near prolate asymmetric top, the ratio of the a-type to c-type components of the transition dipole moment for the hybrid band, and a homogeneous linewidth arising from intramolecular vibrational energy redistribution and/or dissociation. The quantum state distribution of the OH (nu=0,J(OH)) products from dissociation is well characterized by a microcanonical statistical distribution constrained only by the energy available to products, 1304+/-38 cm(-1). This yields a 5667+/-38 cm(-1) [16.2(1) kcal mol(-1)] binding energy for tp-HOONO. An equivalent available energy and corresponding binding energy are obtained from the highest observed OH product state. Complementary high level ab initio calculations are carried out in conjunction with second-order vibrational perturbation theory to predict the spectroscopic observables associated with the OH overtone transition of tp-HOONO including its vibrational frequency, rotational constants, and transition dipole moment. The same approach is used to compute frequencies and intensities of multiple quantum transitions that aid in the assignment of weaker features observed in the OH overtone region, in particular, a combination band of tp-HOONO involving the HOON torsional mode.  相似文献

By preparing ethylene [C2H4(X1Ag)] in selected rotational levels of the nu11(b1u), nu2+nu12(b1u), or nu9(b2u) vibrational state with infrared (IR) laser photoexcitation prior to vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) laser photoionization, we have recorded rotationally resolved pulsed field ionization-photoelectron (PFI-PE) spectra for C2H4+(X2B3u) in the energy region of 0-3000 cm(-1) above the ionization energy (IE) of C2H4(X1Ag). Here, nu2(ag), nu9(b2u), nu11(b1u), and nu12(b1u) represent the C-C stretching, CH2 stretching, CH2 stretching, and CH2 bending modes of C2H4(X1Ag), respectively. The fully rovibrationally resolved spectra have allowed unambiguous symmetry assignments of the observed vibrational bands, which in turn have provided valuable information on the photoionization dynamics of C2H4. The IR-VUV photoionization of C2H4(X1Ag) via the nu11(b1u) or nu2+nu12(b1u) vibrational states is found to predominantly produce vibrational states of C2H4+(X2B3u) with b1u symmetry, which cannot be observed in single-photon VUV-PFI-PE measurements of C2H4(X1Ag). The analysis of the observed IR-VUV-PFI-PE bands has provided the IE(C2H4) = 84,790.2(2) cm(-1) and accurate vibrational frequencies for the nu4+(au)[84.1(2) cm(-1)], nu12+(b1u)[1411.7(2) cm(-1)], nu4+ +nu12+(b1g)[1482.5(2) cm(-1)], nu2+(ag)[1488.3(2) cm(-1)], nu2+ + nu4+(au)[1559.2(2) cm(-1)], 2nu4+ + nu12 +(b1u)[1848.5(2) cm(-1)], 4nu4+ + nu12 +(b1u)[2558.8(2) cm(-1)], nu2+ + nu12 +(b1u)[2872.7(2) cm(-1)], and nu11+(b1u)[2978.7(2) cm(-1)] vibrational states of C2H4+(X2B3u), where nu4+ is the ion torsional state. The IE(C2H4) and the nu4+(au), nu2+(ag), and nu2+ + nu4+ (au) frequencies are in excellent accord with those obtained in previous single-photon VUV-PFI-PE measurements. The other ion vibrational frequencies represent new experimental determinations. We have also performed high-level ab initio anharmonic vibrational frequency calculations for C2H4(X1Ag) and C2H4+(X2B3u) at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVQZ level for guidance in the assignment of the IR-VUV-PFI-PE spectra. All theoretical vibrational frequencies for the neutral and ion, except the ion torsional frequency, are found to agree with experimental vibrational frequencies to better than 1%.  相似文献

The anharmonic vibrational frequencies of FHF(-) were computed by the vibrational self-consistent-field, configuration-interaction, and second-order perturbation methods with a multiresolution composite potential energy surface generated by the electronic coupled-cluster method with various basis sets. Anharmonic vibrational averaging was performed for the bond length and nuclear magnetic resonance indirect spin-spin coupling constants, where the latter computed by the equation-of-motion coupled-cluster method. The calculations placed the vibrational frequencies at 580 (nu(1)), 1292 (nu(2)), 1313 (nu(3)), 1837 (nu(1) + nu(3)), and 1864 cm(-1) (nu(1) + nu(2)), the zero-point H-F bond length (r(0)) at 1.1539 A, the zero-point one-bond spin-spin coupling constant [(1)J(0)(HF)] at 124 Hz, and the bond dissociation energy (D(0)) at 43.3 kcal/mol. They agreed excellently with the corresponding experimental values: nu(1) = 583 cm(-1), nu(2) = 1286 cm(-1), nu(3) = 1331 cm(-1), nu(1) + nu(3) = 1849 cm(-1), nu(1) + nu(2) = 1858 cm(-1), r(0) = 1.1522 A, (1)J(0)(HF) = 124+/-3 Hz, and D(0) = 44.4+/-1.6 kcal/mol. The vibrationally averaged bond lengths matched closely the experimental values of five excited vibrational states, furnishing a highly dependable basis for correct band assignments. An adiabatic separation of high- (nu(3)) and low-frequency (nu(1)) stretching modes was examined and found to explain semiquantitatively the appearance of a nu(1) progression on nu(3). Our calculations predicted a value of 186 Hz for experimentally inaccessible (2)J(0)(FF).  相似文献

Two new red-degraded bands in the room-temperature vacuum-ultraviolet absorption spectrum of carbon monoxide have been identified in the 94,000-94,500 cm(-1) energy region and analyzed. One of the bands at approximately 94,225 cm(-1) (106.1 nm) has three observable bandheads and is partially overlapped with the strong C 1Sigma+-X 1Sigma+ (1-0) transition at lower energy. It is assigned to the c 3Pi-X 1Sigma+ (1-0) transition. The other band at approximately 94,437 cm(-1) (105.9 nm) with one clear bandhead is assigned to the k 3Pi-X 1Sigma+ (5-0) transition. A strong homogeneous perturbation was found to exist between the two upper states that strongly influences the line positions and shapes of these bands. A rotational deperturbation analysis was performed and molecular rotational constants for both upper states were determined. These deperturbed molecular constants are entirely consistent with the expected values for the k 3Pi valence and c 3Pi Rydberg states. The Hamiltonian interaction term between these two states is found to be separable into vibrational and electronic factors and the electronic factor is determined to be H(e)=323+/-40 cm(-1). A discrepancy in the literature regarding the location of the c 3Pi (v=1) state is identified and discussed.  相似文献

We use laser photoacoustic spectroscopy to obtain overtone spectra at three through six quanta of O-H stretch excitation (3nu(OH)-6nu(OH)) for methyl hydroperoxide (MeOOH). Extending the spectral regions beyond our previous work reveals new features that can be attributed to transitions involving torsion about the O-O bond. Experimental spectral profiles (3nu(OH)-6nu(OH)) and cross sections (3nu(OH)-5nu(OH)) at room temperature show a good agreement with the simulated spectra that we obtain from ab initio calculations employing a vibration-torsion model at 298 K. A Birge-Sponer analysis yields experimental values for the O-H stretch frequency (omega=3773+/-15 cm(-1)) and anharmonicity (omegax=94+/-3 cm(-1)). We also detect OH radicals by laser-induced fluorescence and present photodissociation action spectra of MeOOH in the regions of 4nu(OH) and 5nu(OH). While the spectral profile at 5nu(OH) mimics the photoacoustic spectrum, the peak intensity for transitions to torsionally excited states is relatively more intense in the action spectrum at 4nu(OH), reflecting the fact that the 4nu(OH) excitation energy is below the literature dissociation energy (D0=42.6+/-1 kcal mol(-1)) so that features in the action spectrum come from thermally populated excited states. Finally, we use our calculations to assign contributions to individual peaks in the room-temperature spectra and relate our findings to a recent dynamics study in the literature.  相似文献

We show that it is possible to both directly measure and directly calculate Fermi resonance couplings in benzene. The measurement method used was a particular form of two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy (2D-IR) known as doubly vibrationally enhanced four wave mixing. By using different pulse orderings, vibrational cross peaks could be measured either purely at the frequencies of the base vibrational states or split by the coupling energy. This capability is a feature currently unique to this particular form of 2D-IR and can be helpful in the decongestion of complex spectra. Five cross peaks of the ring breathing mode nu13 with a range of combination bands were observed spanning a region of 1500-4550 cm(-1). The coupling energy was measured for two dominant states of the nu13+nu16 Fermi resonance tetrad. Dephasing rates were measured in the time domain for nu13 and the two (nu13+nu16) Fermi resonance states. The electronic and mechanical vibrational anharmonic coefficients were calculated to second and third orders, respectively, giving information on relative intensities of the cross peaks and enabling the Fermi resonance states of the combination band nu13+nu16 at 3050-3100 cm(-1) to be calculated. The excellent agreement between calculated and measured spectral intensities and line shapes suggests that assignment of spectral features from ab initio calculations is both viable and practicable for this form of spectroscopy.  相似文献

Surface electron ejection by laser-excited metastables (SEELEM) and LIF spectra of acetylene were simultaneously recorded in the regions of the A1Au-X1Sigmag+ nominal 2(1)3(1)4(2) Ka=1<--00 and 2(1)3(1)6(2) Ka=1<--00 bands near 46,140 cm(-1). The upper states of these two bands are separated by only approximately 100 cm(-1), and the two S1 vibrational levels are known to be strongly mixed by anharmonic and Coriolis interactions. Strikingly different patterns were observed in the SEELEM spectra in the regions of the 2(1)3(1)4(2) and 2(1)3(1)6(2) vibrational levels. Because the equilibrium structure of the T3 electronic state is known to be nonplanar, excitation of nu4 (torsion) and nu6 (antisymmetric in-plane bend) are expected respectively to promote and suppress vibrational overlap between low-lying S1 and T3 vibrational levels. The nearly 50:50 mixed 2(1)3(1)4(2)-2(1)3(1)6(2) character of the S1 vibrational levels rules out this simple Franck-Condon explanation for the different appearance of the SEELEM spectra. A simple model is applied to the SEELEM/LIF spectra to explain the differences between spectral patterns in terms of a T3 doorway-mediated singlet-triplet coupling model.  相似文献

The second OH overtone transition of the trans-perp conformer of peroxynitrous acid (tp-HOONO) is identified using infrared action spectroscopy. HOONO is produced by the recombination of photolytically generated OH and NO(2) radicals, and then cooled in a pulsed supersonic expansion. The second overtone transition is assigned to tp-HOONO based on its vibrational frequency (10 195.3 cm(-1)) and rotational band contour, which are in accord with theoretical predictions and previous observations of the first overtone transition. The transition dipole moment associated with the overtone transition is rotated considerably from the OH bond axis, as evident from its hybrid band composition, indicating substantial charge redistribution upon OH stretch excitation. The overtone band exhibits homogeneous line broadening that is attributed to intramolecular vibrational redistribution, arising from the coupling of the initially excited OH stretch to other modes that ultimately lead to dissociation. The quantum state distributions of the OH X (2)Pi (nu=0) products following first and second OH overtone excitation of tp-HOONO are found to be statistical by comparison with three commonly used statistical models. The product state distributions are principally determined by the tp-HOONO binding energy of 16.2(1) kcal mol(-1). Only a small fraction of the OH products are produced in nu=1 following the second overtone excitation, consistent with statistical predictions.  相似文献

The S(1)<-->S(0) vibronic spectra of supersonic jet-cooled 2-pyridone [pyridin-2-one (2PY)] and its N-H deuterated isotopomer (d-2PY) have been recorded by two-color resonant two-photon ionization, laser-induced fluorescence and emission, and fluorescence depletion spectroscopies. By combining these methods, the B origin of 2PY at 0(0) (0)+98 cm(-1) and the bands at +218 and +252 cm(-1) are identified as overtones of the S(1) state out-of-plane vibrations nu(1) (') and nu(2) ('), as are the analogous bands of d-2PY. Anharmonic double-minimum potentials are derived for the respective out-of-plane coordinates that predict further nu(1) (') and nu(2) (') overtones and combinations, reproducing approximately 80% of the vibronic bands up to 600 cm(-1) above the 0(0) (0) band. The fluorescence spectra excited at the electronic origins and the nu(1) (') and nu(2) (') out-of-plane overtone levels confirm these assignments. The S(1) nonplanar minima and S(1)<--S(0) out-of-plane progressions are in agreement with the determination of nonplanar vibrationally averaged geometries for the 0(0) (0) and 0(0) (0)+98 cm(-1) upper states by Held et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 95, 8732 (1991)]. The fluorescence lifetimes of the S(1) state vibrations show strong mode dependence: Those of the out-of-plane levels decrease rapidly above 200 cm(-1) excess vibrational energy, while the in-plane vibrations nu(5) ('), nu(8) ('), and nu(9) (') have longer lifetimes, although they are above or interspersed with the "dark" out-of-plane states. This is interpreted in terms of an S(1) (') state reaction with a low barrier towards a conical intersection with a prefulvenic geometry. Out-of-plane vibrational states can directly surmount this barrier, whereas in-plane vibrations are much less efficient in this respect. Analysis of the fluorescence spectra allows to identify nine in-plane S(0) (') state fundamentals, overtones of the S(0) state nu(1) (") and nu(2) (") out-of-plane vibrations, and >30 other overtones and combination bands. The B3LYP6-311++G(d,p) calculated anharmonic wave numbers are in very good agreement with the observed fundamentals, overtones, and combinations, with a deviation Delta(rms)=1.3%.  相似文献

Sixteen intermolecular vibrational levels of the S(0) state of the fluorobenzene-Ar van der Waals complex have been observed using dispersed fluorescence. The levels range up to ~130 cm(-1) in vibrational energy. The vibrational energies have been modelled using a complete set of harmonic and quartic anharmonic constants and a cubic anharmonic coupling between the stretch and long axis bend overtone that becomes near ubiquitous at higher energies. The constants predict the observed band positions with a root mean square deviation of 0.04 cm(-1). The set of vibrational levels predicted by the constants, which includes unobserved bands, has been compared with the predictions of ab initio calculations, which include all vibrational levels up to 70-75 cm(-1). There are small differences in energy, particularly above 60 cm(-1), however, the main differences are in the assignments and are largely due to the limitations of assigning the ab initio wavefunctions to a simple stretch, bend, or combination when the states are mixed by the cubic anharmonic coupling. The availability of these experimental data presents an opportunity to extend ab initio calculations to higher vibrational energies to provide an assessment of the accuracy of the calculated potential surface away from the minimum. The intermolecular modes of the fluorobenzene-Ar(2) trimer complex have also been investigated by dispersed fluorescence. The dominant structure is a pair of bands with a ~35 cm(-1) displacement from the origin band. Based on the set of vibrational modes calculated from the fluorobenzene-Ar frequencies, they are assigned to a Fermi resonance between the symmetric stretch and symmetric short axis bend overtone. The analysis of this resonance provides a measurement of the coupling strength between the stretch and short axis bend overtone in the dimer, an interaction that is not directly observed. The coupling matrix elements determined for the fluorobenzene-Ar stretch-long axis bend overtone and stretch-short axis bend overtone couplings are remarkably similar (3.8 cm(-1) cf. 3.2 cm(-1)). Several weak features seen in the fluorobenzene-Ar(2) spectrum have also been assigned.  相似文献

The weakly bound HOONO product of the OH+NO2+M reaction is studied using the vibrational predissociation that follows excitation of the first OH overtone (2nu1). We observe formation of both cis-cis and trans-perp conformers of HOONO. The trans-perp HOONO 2nu1 band is observed under thermal (223-238 K) conditions at 6971 cm(-1). We assign the previously published (warmer temperature) HOONO spectrum to the 2nu1 band at 6365 cm(-1) and 2nu1-containing combination bands of the cis-cis conformer of HOONO. The band shape of the trans-perp HOONO spectrum is in excellent agreement with the predicted rotational contour based on previous experimental and theoretical results, but the apparent origin of the cis-cis HOONO spectrum at 6365 cm(-1) is featureless and significantly broader, suggesting more rapid intramolecular vibrational redistribution or predissociation in the latter isomer. The thermally less stable trans-perp HOONO isomerizes rapidly to cis-cis HOONO with an experimentally determined lifetime of 39 ms at 233 K at 13 hPa (in a buffer gas of predominantly Ar). The temperature dependence of the trans-perp HOONO lifetime in the range 223-238 K yields an isomerization barrier of 33+/-12 kJ/mol. New ab initio calculations of the structure and vibrational mode frequencies of the transition state perp-perp HOONO are performed using the coupled cluster singles and doubles with perturbative triples [CCSD(T)] model, using a correlation consistent polarized triple zeta basis set (cc-pVTZ). The energetics of cis-cis, trans-perp, and perp-perp HOONO are also calculated at this level [CCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ] and with a quadruple zeta basis set using the structure determined at the triple zeta basis set [CCSD(T)/cc-pVQZ//CCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ]. These calculations predict that the anti form of perp-perp HOONO has an energy of DeltaE0=42.4 kJ/mol above trans-perp HOONO, corresponding to an activation enthalpy of DeltaH298 (double dagger 0)=41.1 kJ/mol. These results are in good agreement with statistical simulations based on a model developed by Golden, Barker, and Lohr. The simulated isomerization rates match the observed decay rates when modeled with a trans-perp to cis-cis HOONO isomerization barrier of 40.8 kJ/mol and a strong collision model. The quantum yield of cis-cis HOONO dissociation to OH and NO2 is also calculated as a function of photon excitation energy in the range 3500-7500 cm(-1), assuming D0=83 kJ/mol. The quantum yield is predicted to vary from 0.15 to 1 over the observed spectrum at 298 K, leading to band intensities in the action spectrum that are highly temperature dependent; however, the observed relative band strengths in the cis-cis HOONO spectrum do not change substantially with temperature over the range 193-273 K. Semiempirical calculations of the oscillator strengths for 2nu1(cis-cis HOONO) and 2nu1(trans-perp HOONO) are performed using (1) a one-dimensional anharmonic model and (2) a Morse oscillator model for the OH stretch, and ab initio dipole moment functions calculated using Becke, Lee, Yang, and Parr density functional theory (B3LYP), M?ller-Plesset pertubation theory truncated at the second and third order (MP2 and MP3), and quadratic configuration interaction theory using single and double excitations (QCISD). The QCISD level calculated ratio of 2nu1 oscillator strengths of trans-perp to cis-cis HOONO is 3.7:1. The observed intensities indicate that the concentration of trans-perp HOONO early in the OH+NO2 reaction is significantly greater than predicted by a Boltzmann distribution, consistent with statistical predictions of high initial yields of trans-perp HOONO from the OH+NO2+M reaction. In the atmosphere, trans-perp HOONO will isomerize nearly instantaneously to cis-cis HOONO. Loss of HOONO via photodissociation in the near-IR limits the lifetime of cis-cis HOONO during daylight to less than 45 h, other loss mechanisms will reduce the lifetime further.  相似文献

Photofragment yield spectra and NO(X(2)Pi(1/2,3/2); v = 1, 2, 3) product vibrational, rotational, and spin-orbit state distributions were measured following NO dimer excitation in the 4000-7400 cm(-1) region in a molecular beam. Photofragment yield spectra were obtained by monitoring NO(X(2)Pi; v = 1, 2, 3) dissociation products via resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization. New bands that include the symmetric nu(1) and asymmetric nu(5) NO stretch modes were observed and assigned as 3nu(5), 2nu(1) + nu(5), nu(1) + 3nu(5), and 3nu(1) + nu(5). Dissociation occurs primarily via Deltav = -1 processes with vibrational energy confined preferentially to one of the two NO fragments. The vibrationally excited fragments are born with less rotational energy than predicted statistically, and fragments formed via Deltav = -2 processes have a higher rotational temperature than those produced via Deltav = -1 processes. The rotational excitation likely derives from the transformation of low-lying bending and torsional vibrational levels in the dimer into product rotational states. The NO spin-orbit state distribution reveals a slight preference for the ground (2)Pi(1/2) state, and in analogy with previous results, it is suggested that the predominant channel is X(2)Pi(1/2) + X(2)Pi(3/2). It is suggested that the long-range potential in the N-N coordinate is the locus of nonadiabatic transitions to electronic states correlating with excited product spin-orbit states. No evidence of direct excitation to electronic states whose vertical energies lie in the investigated energy region is obtained.  相似文献

The first high resolution spectroscopic data for jet cooled H2DO+ are reported, specifically via infrared laser direct absorption in the OH stretching region with a slit supersonic jet discharge source. Transitions sampling upper (0-) and lower (0+) tunneling states for both symmetric (nu1+ <-- 0+, nu1- <-- 0-, and nu1- <-- 0+) and antisymmetric (nu3+ <-- 0+ and nu3- <-- 0-) OH stretching bands are observed, where +/- refers to wave function reflection symmetry with respect to the planar umbrella mode transition state. The spectra can be well fitted to a Watson asymmetric top Hamiltonian, revealing band origins and rotational constants for benchmark comparison with high-level ab initio theory. Of particular importance are detection and assignment of the relatively weak band (nu1- <-- 0+) that crosses the inversion tunneling gap, which is optically forbidden in H3O+ or D3O+, but weakly allowed in H2DO+ by lowering of the tunneling transition state symmetry from D(3h) to C(2v). In conjunction with other H2DO+ bands, this permits determination of the tunneling splittings to within spectroscopic precision for each of the ground [40.518(10) cm(-1)], nu1 = 1 [32.666(6) cm(-1)], and nu3 = 1 [25.399(11) cm(-1)] states. A one-dimensional zero-point energy corrected potential along the tunneling coordinate is constructed from high-level ab initio CCSD(T) calculations (AVnZ, n = 3,4,5) and extrapolated to the complete basis set limit to extract tunneling splittings via a vibrationally adiabatic treatment. Perturbative scaling of the potential to match splittings for all four isotopomers permits an experimental estimate of DeltaV0 = 652.9(6) cm(-1) for the tunneling barrier, in good agreement with full six-dimensional ab initio results of Rajamaki, Miani, and Halonen (RMH) [J. Chem. Phys. 118, 10929 (2003)]. (DeltaV0 (RMH) = 650 cm(-1)). The 30%-50% decrease in tunneling splitting observed upon nu1 and nu3 vibrational excitations arises from an increase in OH stretch frequencies at the planar transition state, highlighting the transition between sp2 and sp3 hybridizations of the OHD bonds as a function of inversion bending angle.  相似文献

The absorption spectrum of jet-cooled CH(3)Cl was photographed from 165 to 117 nm (or 60,000 - 85,000 cm(-1), 7.5-10.5 eV) at a resolution limit of 0.0008 nm (0.3-0.6 cm(-1) or 0.04-0.08 meV). Even in the best structured region of the spectrum, from 70,000 to 85,000 cm(-1) (8.7-10.5 eV), observed bandwidths (full width at half maximum) are large, from 50 to 150 cm(-1). No rotational feature could be resolved. The spectrum is dominated by two strong bands near 9 eV, 140 nm, the D and E bands of Mulliken [J. Chem. Phys. 8, 382 (1940)] or the spectral region D of Price [J. Chem. Phys.4, 539 (1936)]. Their relative intensity is incompatible with previous assignments, namely, to a triplet and a singlet state belonging to the same configuration. On the basis of the present ab initio calculations, those bands are now assigned to two singlet states, the (1)A(1) and (1)E excited states resulting from the 2e(3)4pe Rydberg configuration. The present calculations also reveal that the two (1)E states issued from 2e(3)4sa(1) and 2e(3)4pa(1) are quasidegenerate and strongly mixed. They should be assigned to the two broad bands near 8 eV, 160 nm, the B and C bands of Mulliken and Price. Three vibrational modes are observed to be active: the CCl bond stretch nu(3)(a(1)), and the CH(3) umbrella and rocking vibrations, respectively, nu(2)(a(1)) and nu(6)(e). The fundamental frequencies deduced are well within the ranges defined by the corresponding values in the neutral and ion ground states. The possibility of a dynamical Jahn-Teller effect induced by the nu(6)(e) vibrational mode in the (1)E Rydberg states is discussed.  相似文献

The vibrational overtone spectrum of HOONO is examined in the region of the 2 nu(OH) and 3 nu(OH) bands using action spectroscopy in conjunction with ab initio intensity calculations. The present measurements indicate that the oscillator strength associated with the higher energy trans-perp conformer of HOONO is stronger relative to the lower energy cis-cis conformer for both these vibrational overtone levels. Ab initio intensity calculations carried out at the QCISD level of theory suggest that this disparity in oscillator strength apparently arises from differences in the second derivative of the transition dipole moment function of the two isomers. The calculations indicate that the oscillator strength for the trans-perp isomer is approximately 5.4 times larger than that of the cis-cis isomer for the 2 nu(OH) band and approximately 2 times larger for 3 nu(OH) band. The band positions and intensities predicted by the calculations are used to aid in the assignment of features in the experimental action spectra associated with the OH stretching overtones of HOONO. The observed relative intensities in the experimental action spectra when normalized to the calculated oscillator strengths appears to suggest that the concentration of the higher energy trans-perp isomer is comparable to the concentration of the cis-cis isomer in these room temperature experiments.  相似文献

The absorption spectra of the (CH3)2O...HF complex in the range of 4200-2800 cm(-1) were recorded in the gas phase at a resolutions of 0.1 cm(-1) at T = 190-340 K. The spectra obtained were used to analyze their structure and to determine the temperature dependencies of the first and second spectral moments. The band shape of the (CH3)2O...HF complex in the region of the nu1(HF) stretching mode was reconstructed nonempirically. The nu1 and nu3 stretching vibrations and four bending vibrations responsible for the formation of the band shape were considered. The equilibrium geometry and the 1D-4D potential energy surfaces were calculated at the MP2 6-311++G(2d,2p) level with the basis set superposition error taken into account. On the basis of these surfaces, a number of one- and multidimensional anharmonic vibrational problems were solved by the variational method. Solutions of auxiliary 1D and 2D vibrational problems showed the strong coupling between the modes. The energy levels, transition frequencies and intensities, and the rotational constants for the combining vibrational states necessary to reconstruct the spectrum were obtained from solutions of the 4D problem (nu1, nu3, nu5(B2), nu6(B2)) and the 2D problem (nu5(B1), nu6(B1)). The theoretical spectra reconstructed for different temperatures as a superposition of rovibrational bands associated with the fundamental, hot, sum, and difference transitions reproduce the shape and separate spectral features of the experimental spectra. The calculated value of the nu1 frequency is 3424 cm(-1). Along with the frequencies and absolute intensities, the calculation yields the vibrationally averaged values of the separation between the centers of mass of the monomers Rc.-of-m., R(O...F), and r(HF) for different states. In particular, upon excitation of the nu1 mode, Rc.-of-m. becomes shorter by 0.0861 A, and r(HF) becomes longer by 0.0474 A.  相似文献
