The effect of channel inclination on the variation in the wall shear stress and the heat transfer in a two-phase bubbly flow in a rectangular channel is experimentally and numerically investigated. The wall friction was measured using the electrodiffusion method and the temperature was measured by tiny platinum resistance thermometers. The model is based on the system of RANS equations with account for the back influence of the bubbles on the flow characteristics. Flow turbulence is calculated according to the model of transport of the Reynolds stress tensor components. It is shown that in the gas-liquid flow the angle of the channel inclination to the horizon can have a considerable effect on the friction and the heat transfer. The greatest friction and heat transfer values correspond to the angles of channel inclination ranging from 30 to 50°. In the inclined two-phase bubbly flow the shear stress enhancement on the wall amounts to 30% and that of the heat transfer to 15%. A friction and heat transfer reduction to 10 and 25%, respectively, is noticed in near-horizontal flows.  相似文献

A flow and heat transfer numerical simulation is performed for a 2D laminar incompressible gas flow through a constricted microchannel in the slip regime with constant wall temperature. The effects of rarefaction, creeping flow, first order slip boundary conditions and hydrodynamically/thermally developing flow are assumed. The effects of Knudsen number and geometry on thermal and hydrodynamic characteristics of flow in a constricted microchannel are explored. SIMPLE algorithm in curvilinear coordinate is used to solve the governing equations including continuity, energy and momentum with the temperature jump and velocity slip conditions at the solid walls in discretized form. The resulting velocity and temperature profiles are then utilized to obtain the microchannel C f Re and Nusselt number as a function of Knudsen number and geometry. The results show that Knudsen number has declining effect on the C f Re and Nusselt number in the constricted microchannel. In addition, the temperature jump on wall and slip velocity increase with increasing Knudsen number. Moreover, by decreasing the throttle area, the fluid flow characteristics experience more intense variations in the constricted region. To verify the code a comparison is carried out with available results and good agreement is achieved.  相似文献

A numerical study is presented for the laminar fully developed flow and heat transfer in a two-dimensional wavy channel. The effects of the geometry, Reynolds and Prandtl number on the flow field and heat transfer are investigated. The channel is characterized by a wavy wall, heated at uniform heat flux, and an opposite wall, being plane and adiabatic. The extent of the wall waviness and the distance between the channel walls are found to significantly affect the streamlines contours as well as the heat transfer coefficients. Comparisons with the straight channel, in the same flow rate and heat transfer conditions, have been performed. Pressure drop of the wavy channel is found to be always larger than the value characteristic of a straight channel, while heat transfer performance decreases or increases depending on the values of the parameters (geometry, Reynolds and Prandtl numbers).  相似文献

In the present study, the regionally-averaged heat transfer coefficients and flow temperature distributions were measured in an equilateral triangular channel with three different rib arrangements (α = 45, 90 and 135°). To measure regionally-averaged heat transfer coefficients in the channel, two rows of copper blocks and a single heater were installed on two ribbed walls. The fluid temperature distributions were obtained using a thermocouple-array. The rotation number ranged from 0.0 to 0.1 with a fixed Reynolds number of 10,000. For the 90° ribs, the heat transfer coefficients on the pressure side surface were increased significantly with rotation, while the suction side surface had lower heat transfer coefficients than the stationary channel. For the angled ribs, rib-induced secondary flow dominated the heat transfer characteristics and high heat transfer rates were observed on the regions near the inner wall for the 45° angled ribs and near the leading edge for the 135° angled ribs.  相似文献

The present work investigates the micropolar fluid flow due to a permeable stretching sheet and the resulting heat transfer. Unlike the existing numerical works on the flow phenomenon in the literature, the prime interest here is to analytically work out shape of the solutions and identify whether they are unique. Indeed, unique solutions are detected and presented in the exact formulas for the associated boundary layer equations. Temperature field influenced by the microrotation is also mathematically resolved in the cases of constant wall temperature, constant heat flux and Newtonian heating. To discover the salient physical features of many mechanisms acting on the considered problem, it is adequate to have the analytical velocity and temperature fields and also closed-form skin friction/couple stress/heat transfer coefficients, all as given in the current paper. For instance, the practically significant rate of heat transfer is represented by a single formula valid for all three temperature cases.  相似文献

Summary A numerical method is used to solve the heat transfer equations for laminar flow in ducts of rectangular cross section with simultaneously developing temperature and velocity profiles, both for constant wall temperature and for constant heat input per unit length of the duct. Like the solutions for a fully developed velocity profile, the Nusselt number for each aspect ratio is found to increase from a limiting value at large distances from the entry plane to a maximum at the entry plane. The results also show a strong effect of the Prandtl number on the heat transfer coefficients with uniform and fully developed velocity profiles representing the upper and lower limits respectively. Comparisons are made with analytical solutions for circular ducts and parallel plates and with experimental data.  相似文献

Narrow channel heat transfer technique is a new developing heat transfer technique in recent years. As the temperature of droplet, steam and wall are decided by forced convection heat transfer between the steam and the wall, between the droplet and the wall, between the steam and the droplet and radiation heat transfer, which makes heat transfer mechanism of dispersed flow be difficultly interpretative. Dispersed flow in narrow annular channel is analyzed in the paper, investigating the influence of all kinds of heat transfer processes on dispersed flow, building annular channel dispersed flow model using thermodynamic non-equilibrium model. Calculation results show heat transfer is mainly controlled by heat transfer process between steam and wall. When temperature is low, radiation can be ignored on heat transfer coefficient calculation. The calculation of model can provide a reference for engineering application of steam generator, refrigeration system and so on.  相似文献

Natural convective heat transfer to carbon dioxide near its critical point was investigated. For a vertical flat plate of constant temperature the boundary layer equations were solved with variable fluid properties. The numerical results were compared with experiments and it was shown that calculated heat transfer coefficients near the critical point depend not only on the physical properties, but also on variations of these properties. Especially the extreme property variations have to be considered, if the critical point is inside the thermal boundary layer. In the vicinity of the critical point the properties are changing in a very narrow temperature range. With increasing distance this range becomes more extended and the property variations less important. Therefore the influence of physical property variations on natural convective heat transfer depends also on the temperature difference between the wall and the bulk temperature.  相似文献

Entropy generation in the flow field subjected to a porous block situated in a vertical channel is examined. The effects of channel inlet port height (vertical height between channel inlet port and the block center), porosity, and block aspect ratio on the entropy generation rate due to fluid friction and heat transfer in the fluid are examined. The governing equations of flow, heat transfer, and entropy are solved numerically using a control volume approach. Air is used as the flowing fluid in the channel. A uniform heat flux is considered in the block and natural convection is accommodated in the analysis. It is found that entropy generation rate due to fluid friction increases with increasing inlet port height, while this increase becomes gradual for entropy generation rate due to heat transfer for the inlet port height exceeding 0.03 m. The porosity lowers entropy generation rate due to fluid friction and heat transfer. The effect of block aspect ratio on entropy generation rate is notable; in which case, entropy generation rate increases for the block aspect ratio of 1:2.  相似文献

A physical and mathematical model has been developed to predict the two-phase flow and heat transfer in a microchannel with evaporative heat transfer. Sample solutions to the model were obtained for both constant wall temperature and constant wall heat flux conditions. Results are provided for evaporation rate, liquid film thickness, liquid and vapor phase pressure and temperature distributions. In addition to the sample calculations that were used to illustrate the transport characteristics, computations based on the current model were performed to generate results for comparisons with the experimental results of Qu and Mudawar (2004) where two different mass flow rates of the working fluid were used in the experiment. The comparisons of total pressure drops with the experimental data of Qu and Mudawar (2004) cover the wall heat flux range of 142.71-240 W/cm2 with a total channel mass flux of 400.1 kg/m2 s and also the wall heat flu range of 99.54-204.39 W/cm2 with total channel mass flux of 401.9 kg/m2 s. The calculated results from the current model match closely with those of Qu and Mudawar (2004).  相似文献

The aim of the present study is to obtain surface flow visualisation, as well as local and spanwise averaged heat transfer measurements near a 180° sharp turn in a rectangular channel. The channel aspect ratio (width to height ratio) varies from 1 to 5 and the ratio between the width of the channel and that of the partition wall is always equal to 5. Heat transfer measurements are performed by means of the heated-thin-foil technique, which practically corresponds to a constant heat flux boundary condition, and by using infrared (IR) thermography. Two different heating conditions, in particular heating from one side (asymmetrical), or from two sides (symmetrical), are implemented. The convective heat transfer coefficient is evaluated from the measured temperature maps and the local bulk temperature of the flow which is obtained by making a one-dimensional balance along the channel. Results are presented in terms of local, or averaged, Nusselt number which is normalised with the classical Dittus and Boelter correlation. The fluid used during the test is air and the Reynolds number, based on the flow average velocity and channel hydraulic diameter, is varied between 16,000 and 60,000.  相似文献

In the present study, the thermal and hydraulic performance of three rib-roughened rectangular ducts is investigated. The aspect ratio of the ducts was 1 to 8, and the ribs were arranged staggered on the two wide walls. Three rib configurations were tested: parallel ribs and V-shaped ribs pointing upstream or downstream of the main flow direction. For all cases, the rib height-to-hydraulic diameter ratio was 0.06, with an attack angle of 60° and a pitch-to-height ratio of 10. The Reynolds number range was from 1000 to 6000. Liquid crystal thermography was employed in the heat transfer experiment to demonstrate detailed temperature distribution between a pair of ribs on the ribbed surfaces. The secondary flows caused by the inclined ribs create a significant spanwise variation of the heat transfer coefficients on the rib-roughened wall with high heat transfer coefficient at one end of the rib and low value at the other. In the streamwise direction between two consecutive ribs, the temperature distribution shows a sawtooth fashion because of flow reattachment. Based on the local heat transfer coefficients, the average Nusselt numbers were estimated as weighted mean values. Isothermal pressure drop data were taken and presented as Fanning friction factors. The ducts are compared to each other by considering both heat transfer and friction factor performance.  相似文献

The non-similar solution of an unsteady mixed convection laminar boundary layer flow over a vertical cone in the presence of non-uniform surface mass transfer through slot has been obtained while the axis of cone is inline with the flow. The unsteadiness is caused by the time dependent free stream velocity. The governing boundary layer equations are transformed into a non-dimensional form by a group of non-similar transformations. The resulting coupled non-linear partial differential equations have been solved numerically by the combination of quasi-linearization technique and an implicit finite difference scheme. Numerical computations are performed for different values of the parameters to display the velocity and temperature profiles graphically. Both accelerating and decelerating free stream velocities are considered. Numerical results are reported to display the effects of non-uniform single and double slot suction (injection) on skin friction and heat transfer coefficients at the wall. Further, the effects of Prandtl number, buoyancy and mass transfer (suction or injection) parameters at different stream-wise locations for various times on velocity and temperature profiles, and on skin friction and heat transfer coefficients are also presented in this paper.  相似文献

The problem of a rarefied gas flow in a channel for arbitrary Knudsen numbers has been solved analytically for the first time in the case where the scattering of gas molecules on the channel walls can be described by speculardiffuse boundary conditions. The mean free path of gas molecules is assumed to be constant, i.e., the collision frequency is proportional to molecular velocity. The gas moves under the action of a streamwise temperature gradient. Exact relations for heat and mass fluxes and for meanmass velocity are obtained. It is shown that the Onsager relations are valid within the entire range of Knudsen numbers in the problem of heat and mass transfer in a channel. The dependence of heat and mass fluxes on the Knudsen number (channel thickness) is analyzed. A comparison with available results is performed.  相似文献

Heat transfer characteristics of hydrodynamically developing laminar flow in a circular duct with different thermal boundary conditions were calculated by solving the equations of continuity, motion and energy in finite difference form. Results are presented for linear, sinusoidal and exponential variations of the prescribed wall heat flux along the duct length. A comparison shows that the influence of the thermal boundary condition on heat transfer increases with increasing development of velocity and temperature profiles. As a side result an improved correlation for heat transfer with constant wall heat flux in hydrodynamically developing flow is presented.  相似文献

Budgets of turbulent heat fluxes and temperature variance obtained from the Direct Numerical Simulation of an incompressible periodic channel flow with a Reynolds number of 150 (based on friction velocity) and a Prandtl number of 0.71 are presented and analysed for four cases: locally imposed temperature at the wall (constant Dirichlet), locally imposed heat flux (constant Neumann), heat exchange coefficient (Robin) and 3D conjugate heat transfer. The dissipation rate associated with the temperature variance is strongly impacted by the thermal boundary condition. For non-conjugate cases, a straightforward analytical analysis establishes the connection between the boundary condition, the temperature variance and the wall-normal part of the thermal dissipation rate at the wall. For the conjugate case, the two-point correlations of the thermal field in the solid domain confirms the existence of very large scale thermal structures.  相似文献

Steady and pulsatile flow and heat transfer in a channel lined with two porous layers subject to constant wall heat flux under local thermal non-equilibrium (LTNE) condition is numerically investigated. To do this, a physical boundary condition in the interface of porous media and clear region of the channel is derived. The objective of this work is, first, to assess the effects of local solid-to-fluid heat transfer (a criterion indicating on departure from local thermal equilibrium (LTE) condition), solid-to-fluid thermal conductivity ratio and porous layer thickness on convective heat transfer in steady condition inside a channel partially filled with porous media; second, to examine the impact of pulsatile flow on heat transfer in the same channel. The effects of LTNE condition and thermal conductivity ratio in pulsatile flow are also briefly discussed. It is observed that Nusselt number inside the channel increases when the problem is tending to LTE condition. Therefore, careless consideration of LTE may lead to overestimation of heat transfer. Solid-to-fluid thermal conductivity ratio is also shown to enhance heat transfer in constant porous media thickness. It is also revealed that an increase in the amplitude of pulsation may result in enhancement of Nusselt number, while Nusselt number has a minimum in a certain frequency for each value of amplitude.
