The use of the insect cell/baculovirus expression system for producing recombinant proteins of bacterial, plant, insect, and mammalian origin has become widespread. The popularity of this eukaryotic expression system is due to many factors, including (1) potentially high protein expression levels, (2) ease and speed of genetic engineering, (3) ability to accommodate large DNA inserts, (4) protein processing similar to higher eukaryotic cells (e.g., mammalia cells), and (5) ease of insect cell growth (e.g., suspension growth). The following review of the literature discusses two engineering aspects of recombinant protein synthesis by insect cell cultures: bioreactor scale-up and insect cell line selection. Following this review patent abstracts and additional literature pertaining to expression of recombinant proteins in insect cell culture are listed.  相似文献

Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES) are expected to play a pivotal role in many future chemical segments, particularly when sustainability aspects are considered. This article provides an overview of the recent granted patents related to DES, which reflects many of the practical applications that can be conceived. In the entire history of DES, more than one hundred patents have been identified, reporting strategies for areas like (bio)refineries, extraction of natural products, purification of effluents, organic synthesis, batteries, materials, etc. In many of these cases, DES are not considered to be mere innocent solvents, but their properties are tuned and adapted for the desired goals. Overall, the patent analysis reflects the potential that DES may have as emerging solutions for the Sustainable Chemistry of the future.  相似文献

Over the past two decades, many industrialized countries have implemented changes in their patent laws to provide an extended period of protection for commercially marketed pharmaceuticals. The process has been adopted piecemeal, using widely different procedures. The information sources relating to such term extension are consequently scattered and poorly organized, compared with conventional patent legal status data. This paper reviews the legal processes behind term extension and provides a survey of the key principles and information sources available.  相似文献

The text mining of patents of pharmaceutical interest poses a number of unique challenges not encountered in other fields of text mining. Unlike fields, such as bioinformatics, where the number of terms of interest is enumerable and essentially static, systematic chemical nomenclature can describe an infinite number of molecules. Hence, the dictionary- and ontology-based techniques that are commonly used for gene names, diseases, species, etc., have limited utility when searching for novel therapeutic compounds in patents. Additionally, the length and the composition of IUPAC-like names make them more susceptible to typographic problems: OCR failures, human spelling errors, and hyphenation and line breaking issues. This work describes a novel technique, called CaffeineFix, designed to efficiently identify chemical names in free text, even in the presence of typographical errors. Corrected chemical names are generated as input for name-to-structure software. This forms a preprocessing pass, independent of the name-to-structure software used, and is shown to greatly improve the results of chemical text mining in our study.  相似文献

Stereo- and regioselective biotransformations is an area of intense research interest. The ability to take advantage of microorganisms and isolated enzyme systems to perform selective organic syntheses is well known. In recent years, several new methodologies have caused a rapid growth in the area of selective biotransformations. These novel techniques include genetic and protein engineering, biocatalysis in organic media, improved screening procedures, as well as an increased awareness of the value of biotechnology to solve important problems in organic synthesis. Recent US patents and scientific literature on stereo- and regioselective biotransformations are surveyed.
