We address the discrepancy between the Rosenbluth and polarization transfer data for the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon. Assuming that the effect of two-photon corrections on the polarization transfer data is negligible, we obtain a model-independent estimate of the two-photon correction Δ2γΔ2γ. We analyze the polarization transfer data and the cross section data separately using dispersion relations. A central value as well as an error estimate for Δ2γΔ2γ is then obtained from a comparison of the two analyses. The resulting values for Δ2γΔ2γ are in good agreement with direct calculations available in the literature.  相似文献

Elastic-scattering data were analyzed, and it was concluded on the basis of this analysis that precisionmeasurements of differential cross sections for elastic proton–proton scattering at the accelerator of the Institute for High Energy Physics (IHEP, Protvino, Russia) over a broad momentum-transfer range are of importance and topical interest. The layout of the respective experimental facility detecting the scattered particle and recoil proton and possessing a high momentum-transfer resolution was examined along with the equipment constituting this facility. The facility in question is able to record up to a billion events of elastic proton–proton scattering per IHEP accelerator run (20 days). Other lines of physics research with this facility are briefly discussed.  相似文献

The elastic scattering of a proton on a deuteron at an energy of 8·2 GeV was studied by the method of nuclear photoemulsions. A stack, composed of 20 emulsions of the type NIKFI-R diluted with heavy water, was irradiated with an internal beam of protons on the synchrophasotron in the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna. The beam was perpendicular to the plane of the emulsion and had an intensity of (3·36±0·10)×105 protons/cm2.Altogether 114 events of elastic scattering (p-d) and 62 events of elastic scattering (p-p) were found. The differential cross-section of elastic scattering (p-d) was determined in a range of scattering angles of 1–3° to 10° in CMS. The total cross-section of elastic scattering (p-d) in this range of angles was found to be el =(9·74±1·10) mb.The effective radius of interaction between the proton and deuteron during elastic scattering was found to beR=(2·25±0–10)×10–13 cm.Last but not least, he thanks the management of the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna for irradiating the emulsions and M. We present a nonadiabatic treatment of the hydrogen-antihydrogen system. The technique used to describe H- H? collisions is based on the coupled rearrangement channels method. Within this approach the total, nonadiabatic wave function of the system is divided into two parts: an inner and an outer one. To describe the inner part a set of square-integrable 4-body functions is used. These functions are obtained by a diagonalization of the total Hamiltonian projected on a chosen L 2 subspace, they explicitly contain components of various arrangement channels expressed in terms of corresponding Jacobi coordinates. The outer part of the total wave function reflects its asymptotic character. Our procedure leads to the system of non-local integro-differential equations that are solved iteratively and simultaneously determine both the shape of the outer part of the wave function and the coefficients in the four-body expansion of the inner part. Using this formalism we perform the one-channel calculation of the elastic scattering to obtain the S-matrix and nonadiabatic scattering length.  相似文献

If the frequency of the incident sound wave coincides with oneof the eigenfrequencies of the underwater elastic cylinder,the corre-sponding eigenvibration will be excited by incident sound wave andstrongly reradiate sound wave towards surronding water.It has been re-vealed by previous investigations that the amplitude of backscatteringsound appears to be minimum at the eigenfrequencies of the underwatermetallic cylinders because of the destructive interference between reradiatedwave of the eigenvibration and the geometrical reflected wave from surfaceof the cylinders.In this paper,a new phenomenon has been revealed.The amplitude of backscattering sound appears to be maximum at theeigenfrequencies of a cylinder made from nonmetallic material in which thevelocity of elastic transverse wave is less than the sound velocity in water.  相似文献

The threshold anomaly in energy-averaged excitation functions of proton elastic scattering on A ∼- 30 mass nuclei is analyzed in the framework of the Lane model for p-wave threshold effects. The inelastic scattering of proton with a potassium atom is treated for the first time as a three-channel problem within the framework of the improved coupled static approximation by assuming that the ground (1s state) and the excited (2s state) hydrogen formation channels are open for seven values of total angular momentum, ? (0≤?≤6) at energies between 50 and 500 keV. The Lipmann–Swinger equation and the Green’s function iterative numerical method are used to calculate iterative partial and total cross-sections. This can be done by calculating the reactance matrix at different values of the considered incident energies to obtain the transition matrix that gives partial and total cross-sections. The accuracy of the “optimal” approximation for the proton-deuteron elastic scattering at intermediate energies is studied in a wide range of momentum transfers. The s- and d-state deuteron wave functions corresponding to the Paris potential are used in the numerical calculations. It is found that for the backward scattering the accuracy of the “optimal” approximation is not completely controlled by the ratio of the internal nucleon velocity to the projectile velocity. The calculated corrections to this approximation achieve values of 10–20% for the pd backward scattering at 0.5 GeV. The moduli of the relative corrections decrease in general with increasing energy at fixed scattering angle.  相似文献

The inelastic collision of protons with sodium atoms are treated for the first time within the framework of the coupledstatic and frozen core approximations. The method is used for calculating partial and total cross-sections with the assumption that only two channels(elastic and hydrogen formation in 2s state) are open. In each case, the calculations are carried out for seven values of the total angular momentum l(0≤ l≤ 6). The target is described using the Clementi Roetti wave functions within the framework of the one valence electron model. We use Lipmann–Swinger equation to solve the derived equations of the problem, then apply an iterative numerical method to obtain the code of computer to calculate iterative partial cross-sections. This can be done through calculating the reactance matrix at different values of considered energies to obtain the transition matrix that gives partial and total cross sections. The present results for total hydrogen(2s state)formation cross sections are in agreement with results of other available ones in wide range of incident energy.  相似文献

A simple model is employed to investigate o-Ps–o-Ps scattering at low energies. This model contains the effect of exchange explicitly and a model long range potential in the framework of static-exchange model. These two physical features are of key importance in Ps-Ps (atom-atom) scattering system. S-wave triplet-triplet and singlet-singlet scattering lengths and corresponding phase shifts up to the incident momentum k=0.5 a.u. are in excellent agreement with those yielded by most elaborate and theoretically sound predictions.  相似文献

The polarization observables for the elastic p- 9Be scattering at 1GeV are calculated on the basis of the multiple-diffraction scattering theory and the -cluster model with dispersion. The 9Be nucleus is considered as composed of two -clusters and a neutron arranged at the vertices of an isosceles triangle. The results of a partial-wave analysis of data on proton-proton interaction in the energy range 100–1300 MeV are presented. The real parts of phase shifts were found for states of orbital angular momentum up to L = 9, while their imaginary parts were determined for states of orbital angular momentum up to L = 5. The sixth parameter of the S matrix was introduced in order to describe states of total angular momentum J = 2 and 4. The inelasticity thresholds were chosen individually for each state and were found to be substantially different from one another. The resulting solution was characterized by χ 2 = 1.155 per point in the case where the number of experimental data was 12 841 and by a large imaginary part of the phase shift in the 3 P 2-wave state at the edge of the energy range. Special features of the interaction in orbital states are discussed along with the energy dependence of integrated amplitudes and amplitudes of the scattering matrix at zero angle.  相似文献

We present the most accurate and complete data set for the analyzing power Ay(θ)Ay(θ) in neutron–proton scattering. The experimental data were corrected for the effects of multiple scattering, both in the center detector and in the neutron detectors. The final data at En=12.0 MeVEn=12.0 MeV deviate considerably from the predictions of nucleon–nucleon phase-shift analyses and potential models. The impact of the new data on the value of the charged pion–nucleon coupling constant is discussed in a model study.  相似文献
