The structural properties of Na2RuO3 under pressure are studied using density functional theory within the nonmagnetic generalized gradient approximation (GGA). We found that one may expect a structural transition at ~3 GPa. This structure at the high-pressure phase is exactly the same as the low-temperature structure of Li2RuO3 (at ambient pressure) and is characterized by the P21/m space group. Ru ions form dimers in this phase and one may expect strong modification of the electronic and magnetic properties in Na2RuO3 at pressure higher than 3 GPa.  相似文献

The Ru-Ru spin-singlet formation in La2 ? x L n x RuO5 (Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Dy) was investigated by measurements of the specific heat and magnetic susceptibility. After subtraction of the lattice contribution from the specific heat (C p ), similar excess entropy values were obtained for all compounds. These entropies can be explained by the formation of antiferromagnetic Ru-spin dimers at low temperatures and provide a lower estimate for the intradimer exchange strength. Pronounced changes in the transition temperatures and a broadening of the corresponding peak in C p were observed. These changes depend on the rare-earth element and are due to local structural changes and heterogeneities caused by the substitution. The magnetic susceptibilities can be described by the sum of a rare-earth paramagnetic moment and the susceptibility of the unsubstituted La2RuO5. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed for various compounds to investigate the origin of the magnetic transition and the relationship between structural changes and the spin-dimerization temperature. The combination of the present results with previous structural investigations supports the model of a spin-pairing of the Ru moments which occurs as a reason of the structural phase transition in La2 ? x L n x RuO5.  相似文献

Experimental results on the interaction of Mo atoms with various oxygen-containing molecules (NO, O2, N2O, and CO2) at high temperatures (>1200 K) are presented, which are in close agreement with measurements at moderate and low temperatures. It is demonstrated that the height of the activation barrier is additionally increased for spin-forbidden reactions and that an increase in the heat of reaction causes an increase in the rate constant for a given type of reaction. For the reactions of Mo atoms with O2 and N2O, interpolated temperature dependences of the rate constants, based on the high-temperature measurements conducted in the present work and the published low-temperature data, are proposed.  相似文献

To explain the magnetic properties of advanced ferromagnetic intermetallic compounds of the R2Fe17 (R is a rare-earth element) class, experimentalists often use the hypothesis of competition between ferromagnetic exchange and antiferromagnetic exchange between four types of the nearest iron atoms in nonequivalent lattice sites. For the rhombohedral Gd2Fe17 ferromagnet, we calculate the magnetic moments of iron and gadolinium ions, the parameters of exchange between Fe atoms, and Curie temperature TC at a zero pressure and during hydrostatic lattice compression. The magnetic moment of the unit cell of Gd2Fe17 is shown to decrease under pressure, and this decrease is almost completely associated with a decrease in the magnetic moments of Fe rather than Gd ions, the pressure dependence of the magnetic moments of which is weaker by an order of magnitude. In contrast to the hypothesis regarding the competition of exchange interactions between different kinds of Fe atoms, the parameters of exchange between the nearest iron atoms in different crystallographic sites are found to be positive ferromagnetic (at a zero pressure and during compression), and a ferromagnetic character of interaction is shown to remain unchanged under pressure even for Fe atoms in the so-called dumbbell sites with the nearest interatomic distances. The Curie temperature TC of Gd2Fe17 is shown to decrease with increasing pressure. The changes in the exchange parameters and the magnetic moments of Gd2Fe17 during compression are found to be mainly related to a change in the position of energy spectrum branches with respect to each other and the Fermi level ?F rather than to a change in the overlapping of wavefunctions, which play a minor role.  相似文献

Strongly underdoped RuSr1.9La0.1GdCu2O8 has been comprehensively studied by dc magnetization, microwave measurements, magnetoresistivity and Hall resistivity in fields up to 9 T and temperatures down to 1.75 K. Electron doping by La reduces the hole concentration in the CuO2 planes and completely suppresses superconductivity. Microwave absorption, dc resistivity and ordinary Hall effect data indicate that the carrier concentration is reduced and a semiconductor-like temperature dependence is observed. Two magnetic ordering transitions are observed. The ruthenium sublattice orders antiferromagnetically at 155 K in low applied magnetic fields, and the gadolinium sublattice orders antiferromagnetically at 2.8 K. The magnetoresistivity in this compound exhibits a complicated temperature dependence due to the occurence of the two magnetic orders and spin fluctuations. It is shown that the ruthenium magnetism influences the conductivity in the RuO2 layers while the gadolinium magnetism influences the conductivity in the CuO2 layers. The magnetoresistivity is isotropic above 4 K, but it becomes anisotropic close to the gadolinium antiferromagnetic order temperature.  相似文献

We present results of the combined study of the magnetic properties of Li2RuO3 by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and theoretical dynamical mean-field theory (LDA + DMFT) calculations. The NMR data clearly show the onset of a thermal activation process in the high temperature region, T > 560K, which is tentatively ascribed to the formation of the valence bond liquid. The LDA + DMFT calculations demonstrate that the magnetic response at these temperatures is mostly due to the xz/yz orbitals, while the xy orbitals of Ru still form molecular orbitals. Thus, Ru ions are in the orbital-selective state in the high temperature phase of Li2RuO3.  相似文献

Single crystals of Pb2Fe2Ge2O9 have been grown. They were subjected to X-ray diffraction, magnetic, neutron diffraction, Mössbauer and spin resonance studies. It has been established that Pb2Fe2Ge2O9 is a weak ferromagnet with a Néel temperature T N = 46 K, and the exchange and spin-flop transition fields have been estimated. It has been demonstrated that the weak ferromagnetic moment is actually the result of the single-ion anisotropy axes for the magnetic moments of different magnetic sublattices being not collinear.  相似文献

The magnetic and thermal properties of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite are investigated in wide temperature (4–350 K) range, including under hydrostatic pressure (0–1.1 GPa). Throughout the pressure range investigated, the sample is spin glass with diffused phase transition into paramagnetic state. It is established, that spin glass state is a consequence of exchange interaction frustration of the ferromagnetic clusters embeded into antiferromagnetic clusters. The magnetic moment freezing temperature T f of ferromagnetic clusters increases under pressure, freezing temperature dependence on pressure is characterized by derivative value ∼4.5 K/GPa, while the magnetic ordering T MO temperature dependence is characterized by derivative value ∼13 K/GPa. The volume fraction of sample having ferromagnetic state is V fer ∼ 13% and it increases under a pressure of 1.1 GPa by ΔV fer ≈ 6%. Intensification of ferromagnetic properties of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite under hydrostatic pressure is a consequence of oxygen vacancies redistribution and unit cell parameters decrease. The most likely mechanism of frustrated exchange interactions formation is discussed.  相似文献

Dynamic compression has been used to synthesize liquid metallic hydrogen at 140 GPa (1.4 million bar) and experimental data and theory predict Al2O3 might be a metallic glass at ∼ 300 GPa. The mechanism of metallization in both cases is probably a Mott-like transition. The strength of sapphire causes shock dissipation to be split differently in the strong solid and soft fluid. Once the 4.5-eV H-H and Al-O bonds are broken at sufficiently high pressures in liquid H2 and in sapphire (single-crystal Al2O3), electrons are delocalized, which leads to formation of energy bands in fluid H and probably in amorphous Al2O3. The high strength of sapphire causes shock dissipation to be absorbed primarily in entropy up to ∼400 GPa, which also causes the 300-K isotherm and Hugoniot to be virtually coincident in this pressure range. Above ∼400 GPa shock dissipation must go primarily into temperature, which is observed experimentally as a rapid increase in shock pressure above ∼400 GPa. The metallization of glassy Al2O3, if verified, is expected to be general in strong oxide insulators. Implications for Super Earths are discussed.  相似文献

The processes involved in the excited-state relaxation of hole O 1 0 centers at nonbridging oxygen atoms in glassy SiO2 were studied using luminescence, optical absorption, and photoelectron emission spectroscopy. An additional nonradiative relaxation channel, in addition to the intracenter quenching of the 1.9-eV luminescence band, was established to become operative at temperatures above 370 K. This effect manifests itself in experiments as a negative deviation of the temperature-dependent luminescence intensity from the well-known Mott law and is identified as thermally activated external quenching with an energy barrier of 0.46 eV. Nonradiative transitions initiate, within the external quenching temperature interval, the migration of excitation energy, followed by the creation of free electrons. In the final stages, this relaxation process becomes manifest in the form of spectral sensitization of electron photoemission, which is excited in the hole O 1 0 -center absorption band.  相似文献

The effect of irradiation by ultraviolet light on the effective magnetic moment of a paramagnetic single crystal based on photochrome spiropyran (Sp) and chromium oxalates Sp3Cr(C2O4)3 molecules is detected. It is shown that the deviation of the temperature dependence of the magnetic moment from the Curie law is caused not by the exchange interaction, but by electron redistribution between Cr3+ and Cr4+ ions and spiropyran molecules Sp0 and Sp+. Analysis of the angular dependence of EPR spectra makes it possible to determine the contribution of Cr3+ ions to the magnetic properties of the crystals and to determine the crystal field parameters D = 0.619 cm−1 and E = 0.024 cm−1. Irradiation of hydrated samples by ultraviolet light leads to intensity redistribution of EPR lines attributed to Cr3+ and Sp0. Thermally stimulated paramagnetism of triplet states of spiropyran ions Sp+ and the SpI salt is observed.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the NiCr2O4 chromite are investigated and compared with similar properties of the NiFe1.1Cr0.9O4 nickel ferrite-chromite material. It is found for the first time that the tetrahedral (A) sublattice of the NiCr2O4 chromite is responsible for the total magnetic moment. Moreover, it is revealed that the NiCr2O4 chromite exhibits a giant magnetostriction of the paraprocess (λ para ~ 200×10?6) and an anomalously large volume magnetostriction (ω ~ 500×10?6) at a temperature of 4.2 K in magnetic fields up to ~50 kOe. The inference is made that the observed paraprocess is caused by an increase in the degree of noncollinearity of the magnetic moments induced in the octahedral (B) sublattice of the NiCr2O4 chromite in an external magnetic field.  相似文献

Weak-ferromagnetic (or antiferromagnetic) resonance of Cu and electron spin resonance (ESR) of Gd are observed both in insulating GdSr2Cu2NbO8 and in superconducting GdSr2Cu2RuO8. The Cu resonance implies that the CuO2 planes are magnetic and indicates that the superconducting layer of GdSr2Cu2RuO8 is SrO (not CuO2), as in its related superconducting compound without cuprate planes, doped Sr2YRuO6.  相似文献

The results of neutron diffraction studies of the La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 compound and its behavior in an external magnetic field are stated. It is established that in the 4–300 K temperature range, two structural perovskite phases coexist in the sample, which differ in symmetry (groups R[`3]cR\bar 3c and I4/mcm). The reason for the phase separation is the clustering of oxygen vacancies. The temperature (4–300 K) and field (0–140 kOe) dependences of the specific magnetic moment are measured. It is found that in zero external field, the magnetic state of La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 is a cluster spin glass, which is the result of frustration of Mn3+-O-Mn3+ exchange interactions. An increase in external magnetic field up to 10 kOe leads to fragmentation of ferromagnetic clusters and then to an increase in the degree of polarization of local spins of manganese and the emergence of long-range ferromagnetic order. With increasing magnetic field up to 140 kOe, the magnetic ordering temperature reaches 160 K. The causes of the structural and magnetic phase separation of this composition and formation mechanism of its spin-glass magnetic state are analyzed.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements have been performed on polycrystalline samples of Pr0.6Ca0.4Mn1-xRuxO3 (x = 0, 0.1). The substitution of Ru in the Mn-site strengthens ferromagnetic interactions due to the double exchange between the Mn3+ and Mn4+ species and super-exchange between the Ru5+ and Mn3+ species. The temperature dependence of the ESR spectra indicates development of magnetic phase separation in Pr0.6Ca0.4Mn0.9Ru0.1O3 in contrast with the un-doped sample.  相似文献

Formation of a long-range magnetic order is observed at low temperatures in NaCrSi2O6 and NaCrGe2O6 quasi-one-dimensional metal oxide compounds with a pyroxene structure. The first of these compounds, NaCrSi2O6, is an antiferromagnet with the Néel temperature T N =3 K, while the second, NaCrGe2O6, is a ferromagnet with the Curie temperature T C =6 K. From the measurements of magnetization and specific heat of these compounds, the main parameters of their magnetic subsystems are determined. In NaCrSi2O6, a spin-flip transition is observed. A change in the type of magnetic order that accompanies the replacement of Si by Ge can be attributed to a change in the parameters of the competing direct antiferromagnetic Cr-Cr and indirect ferromagnetic Cr-O-Cr interactions in isolated chains of CrO6 octahedra.  相似文献

The NMR spectra of 63Cu and 65Cu natural copper isotopes in a LiCu2O2 multiferroic single crystal compound have been measured above and below the temperature of magnetic phase transition (T c = 23 K) in zero magnetic field and in applied magnetic field H 0 = 94 kOe parallel to the c axis of the crystal. In LiCu2O2 below T c, a complicated helical magnetic structure with the magnetic moment of copper ions Cu2+ varying along the chain according to the harmonic law with the wave vector being incommensurate to the crystal lattice constants has been revealed. The experimental results have been successfully interpreted using the model based on the planar helical magnetic structure. It has been found that the plane of rotation for Cu2+ magnetic moments in LiCu2O2 does not coincide at H 0 = 0 with the ab plane. The high magnetic field (H 0 = 94 kOe) applied along the c axis of the single crystal does not affect the spatial orientation of the plane of rotation.  相似文献

The effect of low-temperature annealing on the magnetization curve of YBa2Cu3O6 + x ceramics in the superconducting state (x ≈ 0.9) is investigated. When the annealing time is fairly long, the field dependence of magnetic moment M exhibits a feature in the form of a plateau, where the value of M remains almost constant. The evolution of this feature in the magnetization curves of annealed samples with annealing time and temperature is studied. It is assumed that low-temperature annealing gives rise to metastable ferromagnetic clusters in YBa2Cu3O6 + x ceramics, the contribution of which to the magnetic moment accounts for the feature in the magnetization curves of the annealed samples.  相似文献

We report on the synthesis conductions and results of experimental investigations of the crystal structure and magnetic properties of a new magnetic compound YbFeTi2O7. According to the X-ray diffractometry data, the crystal structure of the investigated compound is described by the rhombic space group Pcnb with unit cell parameters of a = 9.8115(1) Å, b = 13.5106(2) Å, and c = 7.31302(9) Å and atomic disordering in the distribution of iron ions Fe3+ over five structural sites. The magnetic measurements in the lowtemperature region revealed a kink in the temperature dependence of the magnetic moment and its dependence on the sample magnetic prehistory. The experimental results obtained suggest that with a decrease in temperature the sample passes from the paramagnetic state to the spin-glass-like magnetic state characterized by a freezing temperature of T f = 4.5 K at the preferred antiferromagnetic exchange coupling in the sample spin system. The chemical pressure variation upon replacement of rare-earth ion R by Yb in the RFeTi2O7 system does not change the crystal lattice symmetry and magnetic state.  相似文献

The initiation of H2/O2/H2O mixture combustion when asymmetric vibrations in H2O molecules are excited by a resonant IR laser radiation is considered. It is shown that the vibrational excitation of the molecules gives rise to new efficient channels for the formation of chemically active O and H atoms and OH radicals. As a result, the chain mechanism of combustion in the mixtures is enhanced and, as a consequence, the induction time is cut and the ignition temperature is lowered. Even at a minor radiant energy flux delivered to the gas (Ein≈2.5 J/cm2), the ignition temperature of the stoichiometric H2/O2 mixture containing only 5% of H2O may become as low as 300 K.  相似文献
