This paper reports on the spectral analysis of Eu3+ or Tb3+ ions (0.5 mol%) doped heavy metal oxide (HMO) based zinc lead borate glasses from the measurement of their absorption, emission spectra and also different physical properties. From the XRD, DSC profiles, the glass nature and glass thermal properties have been studied. The measured emission spectrum of Eu3+ glass has revealed five transitions (5D0-->7F0, 7F1, 7F2, 7F3 and 7F4) at 578, 591, 613, 654 and 702 nm, respectively, with lambdaexci=392 nm (7F0-->5L6). In the case of Tb3+:ZLB glass, four emission transitions such as (5D4-->7F6, 7F5, 7F4 and 7F3) that are located at 489, 542, 585 and 622 nm, respectively, have been measured with lambdaexci=374 nm. For all these emission bands decay curves have been plotted to evaluate their lifetimes and the emission processes that arise in the glasses have been explained in terms of energy level schemes.  相似文献

The absorption and emission spectroscopies of Er3+ doped and Er3+/Yb3+ codoped Ca(PO3)2, Sr(PO3)2 and Ba(PO3)2 glasses have been studied. From the Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters, the spontaneous emission probabilities of some relevant transitions and the radiative lifetimes of several excited states of Er3+ have been calculated. The decay curves of the Er3+ emission at 1.5 microm have been measured at different temperatures. The data have been fitted using a stretched exponential function and the obtained experimental lifetimes have been compared with the calculated radiative lifetimes. The difference between the experimental and calculated lifetimes is attributed to the presence of traces of OH groups in the host glasses. The absolute OH content in some glasses has been determined from the infrared spectra. The emission spectra at 1.5 microm of the Er3+ ion in the codoped glasses have been measured at different temperatures. The integrated emission intensities decrease significantly on passing from room temperature to 13 K, suggesting a temperature dependence of the rate of the energy transfer process between Yb3+ and Er3+.  相似文献

The contents of structural components in lead silicate glasses were determined by the X-ray electron spectroscopy and thermodynamic analysis methods. Lead silicate glasses were described as solid solutions of lead and silicon oxides and lead silicates. The thermodynamic properties of metastable lead silicates were estimated. Thermal treatment in an inert or oxidizing atmosphere led to identical glass structures. High-lead glasses are based on metastable lead-oxygen structures containing 3–7 lead atoms. Such structures are absent in crystalline silicates.  相似文献

Efficient 2.0 microm infrared and visible upconversion emissions have been observed in Ho3+/Yb3+ co-doped mixed-alkali bismuth gallate (LKBBG) glasses having a maximum-phonon energy of 673 cm(-1). The Judd-Ofelt parameters Omega2, Omega4 and Omega6 of Ho3+ indicate that there is a high asymmetry and strong covalent environment in LKBBG glasses. The large absorption and emission cross-sections of Yb3+ confirm that it is a suitable sensitizer for capturing and transferring pump energy to Ho3+. The emission cross-section profile for the 5I7-->5I8 transition is derived using the reciprocity method and the peak value is 5.54 x 10(-21)cm2, which is much larger than the value in fluorozircoaluminate glasses. LKBBG glasses exhibit low maximum-phonon energy and large refractive index, and it is possible to achieve an effective 1.66 microm U-band emission of Ho3+ under 900 nm laser radiation.  相似文献

The state of FeIII ions doped in sodium silicate glasses of the composition (100 ? x)Na2O-xSiO2?y Fe2O3 (x = 75, 81 mol.%; y = 0.05?13 wt.%) was studied by electron spin resonance (ESR). X-band ESR spectra exhibited three resonance signals at g ≈ 2.0, 4.3, and 6. The computer simulation of ESR spectra was performed on the basis of spin-Hamiltonian of rhombic symmetry. The nature of observed signals was interpreted as a combination of five types of FeIII complexes. Three of them were clustered iron ions and two other were isolated paramagnetic ones. The ratio of observed forms was found for different glass compositions and various total amounts of FeIII ions in a matrix containing 0.55, 2.5, 4, 7, and 13 wt.% of Fe2O3.  相似文献

Nd3+ doped H3BO3–PbO–TeO2–RF (R = Li, Na and K) glasses were prepared through melt quenching technique. Optical absorption and near infrared (NIR) fluorescence spectra were recorded at room temperature. The spectral intensities were analyzed in terms of the Judd–Ofelt (J–O) parameters (Ωλ = 2, 4, 6). The covalency effect of Nd–O bond on the J–O parameters was estimated from the relative absorbance ratio (R) between 4I9/2  4F7/2 and 4I9/2  4S3/2 transitions. The effect of Nd–O covalency on the Ω4 and Ω6 intensity parameters as well as on the spontaneous emission probabilities (AR) was discussed. Lomheim and Shazer hybrid method was applied to determine the fluorescence branching ratios (βR) of each emission transition from the 4F3/2 metastable level to its lower lying levels. The evaluated total radiative transition probabilities (AT), stimulated emission cross-sections (σe) and gain bandwidth parameters (σe × ΔλP) were compared with the earlier reports.  相似文献

The spectral properties of Er3+/Yb3+ codoped tungsten-tellurite (WT) glasses have been investigated. The measured absorption spectra are analyzed by Judd-Ofelt theory. The compositional change of intensity parameter omega2 is attributed to the change in the covalency between the Er3+ and oxygen ions, the asymmetry in the local structures around the Er3+ ions can be neglected. The lifetimes of 4I(13/2) level of Er3+ in WT glasses are measured and comparable with other TeO2-based glasses. The stimulated emission cross-section is calculated based on McCumber theory. The fluorescence full width at half maximum (FWHM) and the emission cross-section (sigma(peak)) of the 4I(13/2) --> 4I(15/2) transition of Er3+ in different glass hosts have been compared. The suitability of such WT glasses as host materials for 1.5 microm broadband amplification is discussed.  相似文献

Er3+, Yb3+ and Tm3+ codoped fluorophosphate glasses emitting blue, green and red upconversion luminescence at 970 nm laser diode excitation were studied. It was shown that Tm3+ behaves as the sensitizer to Er3+ for the green upconversion luminescence through the energy transfer process: Tm3+:3H4+Er3+:4I 15/2-->Er3+:4I 9/2+Tm3+:3H6, and for the red upconversion luminescence through the energy transfer process: Tm3+:3F4+Er3+:4I 11/2-->Tm3+:3H6+Er3+:4F 9/2. Moreover, Er3+ acts as quenching center for the blue upconversion luminescence of Tm3+. The sensitization of Tm3+ to Er3+ depends on the concentration of Yb3+. The intensity of blue, green and red emissions can be changed by adjusting the concentrations of the three kinds of rare earth ions. This research may provide useful information for the development of high color and spatial resolution devices and white light simulation.  相似文献

The influence of glass composition on the fluorescence properties of Eu3+ ions doped borate and fluoroborate glasses modified with Li+, Zn2+ and Pb2+ cations have been investigated. The magnitude of splittings of 7F1 levels are analyzed using crystal-field (CF) analysis. The relative intensities of 5D0 --> 7F2 to 5D0 --> 7F1 transitions, crystal-field strength parameters and decay times of the 5D0 level have been determined and are found to be lower for Pb based glasses than those of Zn/Li based glasses. The lifetimes of 5D0 level are found to increase when borate glasses are modified with pure fluorides than with oxides and oxyfluorides. The fluorescence decay of 5D0 level fits perfect single exponential in the Eu3+:glass systems studied which indicates the absence of energy transfer between Eu3+ ions in these glasses.  相似文献

The thermal expansion of some binary and ternary high lead silicate glasses was measured from room temperature to above the softening temperature. The expansion curves for all the glasses showed similar characteristics. The increase of lead oxide content increased the thermal coefficient of expansion but to a lesser extent than the alkaline fluxes. The various proposed mechanisms of thermal expansion were advanced and the experimental results could be explained by considering the bond strengths and ionic sizes of the cations. The possible effects of compactness and phase separation of the structure were also examined.  相似文献

The absorption and upconversion fluorescence spectra of a series of Er3+/Yb3+-codoped xBi(2)O(3)-(90-x)GeO2-10Na(2)O (BGN x, x=31, 36, 41, 46 and 51 mol%) glasses have been studied. Intense green and red emission bands at around 533, 548 and 659 nm, corresponding to the 2H(11/2)-->4I(15/2), 4S(3/2)-->4I(15/2) and 4F(9/2)-->4I(15/2) transitions of Er3+, respectively, were simultaneously observed at room temperature. The dependence of intensities of upconversion emission on excitation power and possible upconversion mechanisms were evaluated and analyzed. The important role of Bi(2)O(3) in upconversion intensity is observed and its influence on the green (533 and 548 nm) and red (659 nm) emissions is compared and discussed. The influence of Bi(2)O(3) on the upconversion emissions has been investigated based on the IR spectra.  相似文献

Tm(3+)/Yb(3+)-doped alkali-barium-bismuth-tellurite (LKBBT) glasses have been fabricated and characterized. Density, refractive index, optical absorption, absorption and emission cross-sections of Yb(3+), Judd-Ofelt parameters and spontaneous transition probabilities of Tm(3+) have been measured and calculated, respectively. Intense blue three-photon upconversion fluorescence and near-infrared two-photon upconversion fluorescence were investigated under the excitation of a 980 nm diode laser at room temperature. Wide infrared transmission window, high refractive index and strong blue three-photon upconversion emission of Tm(3+) indicate that Tm(3+)/Yb(3+) co-doped LKBBT glasses are promising upconversion optical and laser materials.  相似文献

In this report, we investigate the cooperative energy transfer frequency upconversion in Tb3+/Yb3+-codoped SiO2-Al(2)O(3)-Na2O-ZnF(2) oxyfluoride glasses under 980 nm diode laser excitation. The influence of both Tb3+ and Yb3+ concentration on the emission bands were investigated. With a lower Tb3+ concentration, the emission bands around 381, 416 and 438 nm, and 489, 545, 587 and 623 nm associated with (5)D(3), (5)G(6)-->(7)F(J) (J=6, 5, 4) and (5)D(4)-->(7)F(J) (J=6, 5, 4, 3) transitions were observed. However, only (5)D(4)-->(7)F(J) (J=6, 5, 4, 3) transitions appear in a higher Tb3+ concentration. The integrated upconversion luminescence intensity was examined when the temperature of sample was varied from 40 to 450 K. The dependence of the upconversion emission intensity upon the excitation power was also examined, and the upconversion mechanisms were discussed.  相似文献

Tb3+ and Gd3+ ions doped lithium–barium–aluminosilicate oxyfluoride glasses have been prepared. The transmission, emission and excitation spectra were measured. It has been found that those Tb3+-doped lithium–barium–aluminosilicate oxyfluoride glasses exhibit good UV-excited luminescence. The luminescence intensity of Tb3+ ion increases for those (Tb3+, Gd3+)-codoped glasses. Energy transfer process from Gd3+ ion to Tb3+ ion is indicated.  相似文献

Up-conversion luminescence characteristics under 975 nm excitation have been investigated with Tb3+/Tm3+/Yb3+ triply doped tellurite glasses. Here, green (547 nm: (5)D(4)-->(7)F(4)) and red (660 nm: (5)D(4)-->(7)F(2)) up-conversion (UC) luminescence originating from Tb3+ is observed strongly, because of the quadratic dependences of emission intensities on the excitation power. Especially, the UC luminescence was intensified violently with the energy transfer from the Tm3+ ions involves in the Tb3+ excitation. To the Tb3+/Tm3+/Yb3+ triply doped glass system, a novel up-conversion mechanism is proposed as follows: the energy of (3)G(4) level (Tm3+) was transferred to (5)D(4) (Tb(3+)) and the 477-nm UC luminescence of Tm3+ was nearly quenched.  相似文献

Visible luminescence of Dy(3+) ions in oxyhalide lead borate glasses was examined. Luminescence spectra show two intense bands at 480 nm and 573 nm due to (4)F(9/2)→(6)H(15/2) (blue) and (4)F(9/2)→(6)H(13/2) (yellow) transitions of Dy(3+). Luminescence decays from (4)F(9/2) state and yellow-to-blue luminescence intensity ratios (Y/B) were analysed with PbX(2) (X=F, Cl) content. An introduction of PbX(2) to the borate glass results in the increasing of (4)F(9/2) lifetime and the decreasing of yellow-to-blue luminescence intensity ratio, which is due to reduction of covalency between Dy(3+) and O(2-)/X(-) ions.  相似文献

The effect of glass modifiers on the fluorescence and life time of the 6P(7/2) energy state of the Gd3+ ion has been investigated. A shift in the energy of maximum of the fluorescence has been observed. The results are explained on the basis of the relative cation and anion field strengths due to modifiers. A variation in the life-time of the 6P7.2 energy state of the Gd3 ion has also been noted.  相似文献

The absorption spectra and upconversion fluorescence spectra of Er3+/Yb3+-codoped natrium-gallium-germanium-bismuth glasses are measured and investigated. The intense green (533 and 549 nm) and red (672 nm) emission bands were simultaneously observed at room temperature. The quadratic dependence of the green and red emission on excitation power indicates that the two-photon absorption processes occur. The influence of Ga2C3 on upconversion intensity is investigated. The intensity of green emissions increases slowly with increasing Ga2O3 content, while the intensity of red emission increases significantly. The possible upconversion mechanisms for these glasses have also been discussed. The maximum phonon energy of the glasses determined based on the infrared (IR) spectral analysis is as low as 740 cm-1. The studies indicate that Bi2O3-GeO2-Ga2O3-Na2O glasses may be potential materials for developing upconversion optical devices.  相似文献

The novel Er(3+) single-doped and Er(3+)/Yb(3+) co-doped tellurite glasses were prepared. The effect of Yb(2)O(3) concentration on absorption spectra, emission spectra and upconversion spectra of glasses were measured and investigated. The emission intensity, fluorescence full width at half maximum (FWHM) and upconversion luminescence of Er(3+) go up with the increasing concentration of Yb(3+) ions. The maximum FWHM of (4)I(13/2) --> (4)I(15/2) transition of Er(3+) is approximate 77 nm for 1.41 x 10(21)ions/cm(3) concentration of Yb(3+)-doped glass. The visible upconversion emissions at about 532, 546 and 659 nm, corresponding to the (2)H(11/2) --> (4)I(15/2), (4)S(3/2) --> (4)I(15/2) and (4)F(9/2) --> (4)I(15/2) transitions of Er(3+), respectively, were simultaneously observed under the excitation at 970 nm. Subsequently, the possible upconversion mechanisms and important role of Yb(3+) on the green and red emissions were discussed and compared. The results demonstrate that this kind of tellurite glass may be a potentially useful material for developing potential amplifiers and upconversion optical devices.  相似文献
