Traffic flow directionality and network weight asymmetry are widespread notions in traffic networks. This paper investigates the influence of direction-dependant heterogeneity on traffic congestion. To capture the effect of the link directionality and link weight asymmetry, the heterogeneity indexes of complex networks and the traffic flow model are introduced. The numerical results show that the critical value of heterogeneity determines congestion transition processes. The congestion degree increases with heterogeneity when the network heterogeneity is at a subcritical region. A network is more tolerant of congestion if the heterogeneity of the network is smaller or larger than the critical value. Furthermore, when heterogeneity reaches the critical value, the average number of accumulated vehicles arrives at the maximum and the traffic flow is under a serious congestion state. A significant improvement on the tolerance to congestion of traffic networks can be made if the network heterogeneity is controlled within a reasonable range.  相似文献

In this paper we study a model of synchronization process on scale free networks with degree-degree correlations. This model was already studied on this kind of networks without correlations by Pastore y Piontti et al. [A.L. Pastore y Piontti, P.A. Macri, L.A. Braunstein, Phys. Rev. E 76 (2007) 046117]. Here, we study the effects of the degree-degree correlation on the behavior of the load fluctuations Ws in the steady state. We found that for assortative networks there exist a specific correlation where the system is optimally synchronized. In addition, we found that close to this optimal value the fluctuations does not depend on the system size and therefore the system becomes fully scalable. This result could be very important for some technological applications. On the other hand, far from the optimal correlation, Ws scales logarithmically with the system size.  相似文献

How much can we tell about flows through networks just from their topological properties? Whereas flow distributions of river basins, trees or cardiovascular systems come naturally to mind, more complex topologies are not so immediate, especially if the network is large and heterogeneously directed. Our study is motivated by the question of how the distribution of path-dependent trails in directed networks is correlated to the distribution of network flows. As an example we have studied the path-dependencies in closed trails in four metropolitan areas in England and the USA and computed their global and spatial correlations with measured traffic flows. We have found that the heterogeneous distribution of traffic intensity is mirrored by the distribution of agglomerate path-dependency and that high traffic roads are packed along corridors at short-to-medium trail lengths from the ensemble of nodes.  相似文献

We analyze the correlation properties of the Erdos-Rényi random graph (RG) and the Barabási-Albert scale-free network (SF) under the attack and repair strategy with detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA). The maximum degree k representing the local property of the system, shows similar scaling behaviors for random graphs and scale-free networks. The fluctuations are quite random at short time scales but display strong anticorrelation at longer time scales under the same system size N and different repair probability pre. The average degree , revealing the statistical property of the system, exhibits completely different scaling behaviors for random graphs and scale-free networks. Random graphs display long-range power-law correlations. Scale-free networks are uncorrelated at short time scales; while anticorrelated at longer time scales and the anticorrelation becoming stronger with the increase of pre.  相似文献

The third-generation partnership project (3GPP) defined several scenarios of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) networks such as vehicle-to-vehicle, vehicle-to-pedestrian, and vehicle-to-infrastructure. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) exploiting such scenarios for vehicular applications like vehicular-platooning, autonomous driving, and traffic management have shown improved networks’ performance in UAV-V2X (U-V2X) communications. This promising performance is typically obtained by considering high directional UAV antennas. However, the UAV vibration makes UAV antennas’ beam-width sensitive to UAV fluctuations which results in degrading the networks’ performance. Thus, in this paper, the performance of a U-V2X network in the presence of UAV fluctuations is investigated. The UAVs are modeled using an independent homogeneous Poisson Point Process and the vehicular-nodes are modeled using an independent Poisson Line Process. To this end, the association probability and success probability of various links such as vehicular-node connected to a UAV link, vehicular-node connected to a near-by vehicular-node link, and the overall U-V2X link are derived. In addition, the effect of different network settings such as the number of vehicular-nodes, UAVs, roads, and antennas is quantified. Moreover, the spectral efficiency of a U-V2X network is evaluated. Extensive simulations revealed that V2X networks facilitate UAVs and that for less dense areas with fewer roads, buildings, and crowds; UAVs provide more reliable links for connectivity than vehicular-nodes. Furthermore, it is also revealed that UAVs provide less reliable connection for V2X networks with larger UAV antenna fluctuations.  相似文献

In the study of weighted complex networks, the interplay between traffic and topology have been paid much attention. However, the variation of topology and weight brought by new added vertices or edges should also be considered. In this paper, an evolution model of weighted networks driven by traffic dynamics with local perturbation is proposed. The model gives power-law distribution of degree, weight and strength, as confirmed by empirical measurements. By choosing appropriate parameters W and δ, the exponents of various power law distributions can be adjusted to meet real world networks. Nontrivial clustering coefficient C, degree assortativity coefficient r, and strength-degree correlation are also considered. What should be emphasized is that, with the consideration of local perturbation, one can adjust the exponent of strength-degree correlation more effectively. We investigate and analyse an optimal traffic network structure for resisting traffic congestion with different volumes of traffic. For this aim, we introduce a cost function and user-equilibrium assignment (UE) which ensures the flow balance on traffic systems. Our finding is that an optimal network is strongly dependent on the total system flow. And the random network is most desirable when the system flow is small. But for the larger volume of traffic, the network with power-law degree distribution is the optimal one. Further study indicates, for scale-free networks, that the degree distribution exponent has large effects on the congestion of traffic network. Therefore, the volume of traffic and characteristic of network determine the optimal network structure so as to minimize the side-effect produced by traffic congestion.  相似文献

We propose a model of random diffusion to investigate flow fluctuations in complex networks. We derive an analytical law showing that the dependence of fluctuations with the mean traffic in a network is ruled by the delicate interplay of three factors, respectively, of dynamical, topological and statistical nature. In particular, we demonstrate that the existence of a power-law scaling characterizing the flow fluctuations at every node in the network cannot be claimed. We show the validity of this scaling breakdown under quite general topological and dynamical situations by means of different traffic algorithms and by analyzing real data.  相似文献

Air traffic is a typical complex system,in which movements of traffic components(pilots,controllers,equipment,and environment),especially airport arrival and departure traffic,form complicated spatial and temporal dynamics.The fluctuations of airport arrival and departure traffic are studied from the point of view of networks as the special correlation between different airports.Our collected flow volume data on the time-dependent activity of US airport arrival and departure traffic indicate that the coupling between the average flux and the fluctuation of an individual airport obeys a certain scaling law with a wide variety of scaling exponents between 1/2 and 1.These scaling phenomena can explain the interaction between the airport internal dynamics(e.g.queuing at airports,a ground delay program and following flying traffic) and a change in the external(network-wide) traffic demand(e.g.an increase in traffic during peak hours every day),allowing us to further understand the mechanisms governing the collective behaviour of the transportation system.We separate internal dynamics from external fluctuations using a scaling law which is helpful for us to systematically determine the origin of fluctuations in airport arrival and departure traffic,uncovering the collective dynamics.Hot spot features are observed in airport traffic data as the dynamical inhomogeneity in the fluxes of individual airports.The intrinsic characteristics of airport arrival and departure traffic under severe weather is discussed as well.  相似文献

We report the statistical properties of three bus-transport networks (BTN) in three different cities of China. These networks are composed of a set of bus lines and stations serviced by these. Network properties, including the degree distribution, clustering and average path length are studied in different definitions of network topology. We explore scaling laws and correlations that may govern intrinsic features of such networks. Besides, we create a weighted network representation for BTN with lines mapped to nodes and number of common stations to weights between lines. In such a representation, the distributions of degree, strength and weight are investigated. A linear behavior between strength and degree s(k)∼ks(k)k is also observed.  相似文献

Theory of rumour spreading in complex social networks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We introduce a general stochastic model for the spread of rumours, and derive mean-field equations that describe the dynamics of the model on complex social networks (in particular, those mediated by the Internet). We use analytical and numerical solutions of these equations to examine the threshold behaviour and dynamics of the model on several models of such networks: random graphs, uncorrelated scale-free networks and scale-free networks with assortative degree correlations. We show that in both homogeneous networks and random graphs the model exhibits a critical threshold in the rumour spreading rate below which a rumour cannot propagate in the system. In the case of scale-free networks, on the other hand, this threshold becomes vanishingly small in the limit of infinite system size. We find that the initial rate at which a rumour spreads is much higher in scale-free networks than in random graphs, and that the rate at which the spreading proceeds on scale-free networks is further increased when assortative degree correlations are introduced. The impact of degree correlations on the final fraction of nodes that ever hears a rumour, however, depends on the interplay between network topology and the rumour spreading rate. Our results show that scale-free social networks are prone to the spreading of rumours, just as they are to the spreading of infections. They are relevant to the spreading dynamics of chain emails, viral advertising and large-scale information dissemination algorithms on the Internet.  相似文献

Functional magnetic resonance imaging techniques using the blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) contrast are widely used to map human brain function by relating local hemodynamic responses to neuronal stimuli compared to control conditions. There is increasing interest in spontaneous cerebral BOLD fluctuations that are prominent in the low-frequency range (<0.1 Hz) and show intriguing spatio-temporal correlations in functional networks. The nature of these signal fluctuations remains unclear, but there is accumulating evidence for a neural basis opening exciting new avenues to study human brain function and its connectivity at rest. Moreover, an increasing number of patient studies report disease-dependent variation in the amplitude and spatial coherence of low-frequency BOLD fluctuations (LFBF) that may afford greater diagnostic sensitivity and easier clinical applicability than standard fMRI. The main disadvantage of this emerging tool relates to physiological (respiratory, cardiac and vasomotion) and motion confounds that are challenging to disentangle requiring thorough preprocessing. Technical aspects of functional connectivity fMRI analysis and the neuroscientific potential of spontaneous LFBF in the default mode and other resting-state networks have been recently reviewed. This review will give an update on the current knowledge of the nature of LFBF, their relation to physiological confounds and potential for clinical diagnostic and pharmacological studies.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the artificial scale-free traffic network with dynamic weights (cost) and focus on how the removal strategies (flow-based removal, betweenness-based removal and mix-based removal) affect the damage of cascading failures based on the user-equilibrium (UE) assignment, which ensures the balance of flow on the traffic network. Experiment simulation shows that different removal strategies can bring large dissimilarities of the efficiency and damage after the intentional removal of an edge. We show that the mix-based removal of a single edge might reduce the damage of cascading failures and delay the breakdown time, especially for larger reserve capacity coefficient α. This is particularly important for real-world networks with a highly hetereogeneous distribution of flow, i.e., traffic and transportation networks, logistics networks and electrical power grids.  相似文献

We consider the routing and wavelength assignment problem on wavelength division multiplexing networks without wavelength conversion. When the physical network and required connections are given, routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) is the problem to select a suitable path and wavelength among the many possible choices for each connection such that no two paths using the same wavelength pass through the same link. In wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks, there is need to maximize the number of connections established and to minimize the blocking probability using limited resources. In this paper, we have proposed three dynamic link weight assignment strategies that change the link weight according to the traffic. The performance of the existing trend and the proposed strategies is shown in terms of blocking probability. The simulation results show that all the proposed strategies perform better than the existing trend.  相似文献

We study the effects of the degree-degree correlations on the pressure congestion J when we apply a dynamical process on scale free complex networks using the gradient network approach. We find that the pressure congestion for disassortative (assortative) networks is lower (bigger) than the one for uncorrelated networks which allow us to affirm that disassortative networks enhance transport through them. This result agree with the fact that many real world transportation networks naturally evolve to this kind of correlation. We explain our results showing that for the disassortative case the clusters in the gradient network turn out to be as much elongated as possible, reducing the pressure congestion J and observing the opposite behavior for the assortative case. Finally we apply our model to real world networks, and the results agree with our theoretical model.  相似文献

本文研究复杂交通运输网络上的拥挤与效率问题. 在无标度网络、随机网络以及小世界网络等不同拓扑结构中, 探讨了不同的能力分配方式和不同的OD (Origin-Destination) 交通需求分布对网络拥挤度和效率的影响. 随着平均交通需求的增加, 分析无标度网络、随机网络以及小世界网络从自由流状态到交通拥堵状态的变化规律. 为便于比较, 本文侧重研究网络拥挤度的倒数, 并将其定义为通畅度. 研究发现网络中的通畅度与效率之间存在线性相关关系, 并且不同网络中的线性比例系数 (或斜率)是不同的, 从而体现了不同网络具有不同的运输性能. 关键词: 复杂网络 拥挤 效率  相似文献

We study high-density traffic of information packets on sparse modular networks with scale-free subgraphs. With different statistical measures we distinguish between the free flow and congested regime and point out the role of modules in the jamming transition. We further consider correlations between traffic signals collected at each node in the network. The correlation matrix between pairs of signals reflects the network modularity in the eigenvalue spectrum and the structure of eigenvectors. The internal structure of the modules has an important role in the diffusion dynamics, leading to enhanced correlations between the modular hubs, which can not be filtered out by standard methods. Implications for the analysis of real networks with unknown modular structure are discussed.  相似文献

The most important function of a network is for transporting traffic. Due to the low traffic capacity of network systems under the global shortest path routing, plenty of heuristic routing strategies are emerging. In this paper, we propose a heuristic routing strategy called the incremental routing algorithm to improve the traffic capacity of complex networks. We divide the routing process into NN(the network size) steps and, at each step, we heuristically calculate all the routes for one source node considering both the dynamic efficient betweenness centrality and node degree information. We do extensive simulations on scale-free networks to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed incremental routing strategy. The simulation results show that the traffic capacity has been enhanced by a substantial factor at the expense of a slight lengthening in the average path.  相似文献

Many models of market dynamics make use of the idea of conservative wealth exchanges among economic agents. A few years ago an exchange model using extremal dynamics was developed and a very interesting result was obtained: a self-generated minimum wealth or poverty line. On the other hand, the wealth distribution exhibited an exponential shape as a function of the square of the wealth. These results have been obtained both considering exchanges between nearest neighbors or in a mean field scheme. In the present paper we study the effect of distributing the agents on a complex network. We have considered archetypical complex networks: Erdös–Rényi random networks and scale-free networks. The presence of a poverty line with finite wealth is preserved but spatial correlations are important, particularly between the degree of the node and the wealth. We present a detailed study of the correlations, as well as the changes in the Gini coefficient, that measures the inequality, as a function of the type and average degree of the considered networks.  相似文献

Systems driven by Poisson-distributed quantal inputs can be described as “shot noise” stochastic processes. This formalism can apply to neurons which receive a large number of Poisson-distributed synaptic inputs of similar quantal size. However, the presence of temporal correlations between these inputs destroys their quantal nature, and such systems can no longer be described by classical shot noise processes. Here, we show that explicit expressions for various statistical properties, such as the amplitude distribution and the power spectral density, can be deduced and investigated as functions of the correlation between input channels. The monotonic behavior of these expressions allows an one-to-one relation between temporal correlations and the statistics of fluctuations. Multi-channel shot noise processes, therefore, open a way to deduce correlations in input patterns by analyzing fluctuations in experimental systems. We discuss applications such as detecting correlations in networks of neurons from intracellular recordings of single neurons.  相似文献
