Magnetic field measurements above type-II superconductor films in a remanent magnetization state have been used to determine two dimensional surface current distributions. Using the Biot-Savart law for the surface current density, integral equations (of 2-D convolution type) for two components of current have been obtained. These equations have been solved by employing Tikhonov's method of generalized discrepancy, and the surface current pattern in superconductors as well as the magnetic field distribution on the film surface have been obtained. Current peculiarities related to various kinds of inhomogeneities, specific character of the film form, and a laser pulse effect have been observed. In particular, it was discovered that a laser pulse can signficantly redistribute the film currents without changing the total number of current vortices in the film.  相似文献

We present here new experimental results about the waves at the horizontal free surface of a magnetic fluid submitted to a normal magnetic field. The waves are generated by a small modulation at frequency of the vertical field . Using a shadowgraph method, we are able to measure the wavevector k of the 2D waves for a given value of and . The dispersion relation of the surface waves is established experimentally. On the other hand, we propose a theoretical derivation of the dispersion equation which includes a more complete treatment of the magnetic term than the previous works. Finally, we conclude that a linear and inviscid analysis is sufficient to fit well the experimental data, except in the vicinity of the critical field where a surface instability occurs. A homeotropically oriented smectic-A film on a solid substrate with periodical microrelief is considered. Periodical distortions of the free surface of the film induced by this microrelief are theoretically investigated. The dependence of these distortions on the film thickness, the temperature, and external magnetic (electric) field is obtained. It is shown that, for a certain choice of the shape of the substrate surface microrelief, one can realize a temperature and external magnetic (electric) field control on the microrelief at the free surface of the smectic-A film.  相似文献

The dispersion relation of magnetostatic waves tangentially magnetized to saturation ferrite film, with a “magnetic wall” condition (tangential component of microwave magnetic field is equal to zero) on one of the film surface and with a metal condition on the opposite surface is analyzed. The dispersion characteristics show that unidirectional magnetostatic waves appear in this structure: they can transfer energy in one direction only and fundamentally cannot transfer energy in the opposite direction. The dispersion-free propagation of magnetostatic waves also is possible in the structure in a wide frequency interval.  相似文献

A method has been developed for determining magnetic and electrical characteristics of film nanostructures containing magnetic nanoparticles from dispersion curves of surface spin waves propagating in these nanostructures. The dispersion curves of spin waves are determined by the dynamics of the spin component described by the generalized Landau-Lifshitz equations and an alternating electromagnetic field induced by a spin wave. Since spin waves are very sensitive to inhomogeneity of magnetic parameters, spin disorder, and conductivity of an object near or inside which these waves propagate, they can be used for determining magnetic and electrical characteristics of the objects under investigation. The developed calculation method, which can be employed both in spin-wave spectroscopy and in analysis of dispersion curves obtained by other methods, has been used for determining parameters of heterostructures consisting of a SiO2 film with Co nanoparticles on a GaAs substrate. It has been found from the shape of dispersion curves of the surface spin waves that, in the film near the interface, spins of the nanoparticles are close to a ferromagnetic ordering, whereas near the free surface, the spin orientation of nanoparticles is more chaotic. It has been revealed that a conducting layer is formed in GaAs, and the SiO2(Co) film near the interface has an increased conductivity.  相似文献

An essential highlight of the presented method is the employment of Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE) for local measurements of the attenuation of elastic shear waves introduced into a biological sample. Such a measurement can be accomplished by combining the MRE method with those methods, in which collective displacement of spins is induced by external physical factors, such as variable electric field, strong magnetic field gradient or longitudinal elastic wave. A theoretical basis of the method involving external factors and results of preliminary experiments have been presented in this paper.  相似文献

Presented in this paper is a theoretical analysis of a planar surface induced mixed state for a superconducting film in parallel applied field. An analytical solution of the internal magnetic field is obtained based on Saint-James and de Gennes' order parameter in a film. An expression of Gibbs free energy per unit volume without restriction of a geometry is derived from non-linear Ginzburg-Landau (GL) equation in terms of a renormalized GL parameter and a modified geometric factor. Based on the Gibbs free energy, a phase diagram of distinguishing a first and second order phase transition for a type I superconducting film is calculated. The numerical results for exact solutions of spatial variation of order parameter, current density and internal magnetic field in the film geometry in parallel applied field case are presented. Near the upper critical field, the first entry of an applied field in the film exhibits a laminar structure.  相似文献

Summary A preliminary study is here reported on a new potential marker for biomagnetic measurements. The marker consists of superparamagnetic polymer microspheres which were detected in the presence of external steady magnetic fields by means of an r.f.-SQUID magnetometer. The particles were prepared in samples differing in the concentration value and immersed in a homogeneous magnetic field of variable intensity. A simple model was taken into account for the distribution of the microspheres in the samples, so that the theoretical values were compared to the marker field values measured by the biomagnetic sensor. The overall sensitivity of the experimental apparatus and the minimum concentration value of the marker were then estimated.  相似文献

The substrate is shown to induce substantial ordering in diblock copolymer thin films above the bulk order-disorder transition (ODT) where, thermodynamically, a phase mixed state is favored. Initially, uniform films reorganize to form a hierarchy of transient surface patterns and stable film thicknesses that depend on the initial film thickness and on the substrate. Self-consistent field calculations of the free energy of the system for different situations, depending on the relative tendency for the different block components to be attracted to the substrate and/or free surface, provide an explanation of the formation of the stable film thicknesses. A continuum picture proposed earlier by Brochard et al.rovides an explanation of the wetting characteristics of this system. In some cases the ordering destabilizes the film so that dewetting occurs (wetting autophobicity), whereas in other cases the surface ordering results in a kinetic stabilization of a film that would otherwise dewet. It is shown, using a thin magnetic film of a tetragonal antiferromagnet as an example, that indirect spin-spin exchange via the long-range field of quasi-static magnetoelastic deformations with allowance for the magnetocrystalline anisotropy results in qualitatively new types of nonexchange propagating spin waves, both surface and bulk. The case of an isolated magnetic film and a magnetic film with a one-sided or two-sided coating is studied.  相似文献

Summary A novel method to investigate the gastro-intestinal activity by means of a superconducting instrumentation based on SQUID sensors developed for biomagnetic measurements is presented. The magnetic field generated by a small marker ingested by the subject is measured over the abdomen. The localization of the marker,i.e. a magnetic dipole, is carried out by means of a standard algorithm used in biomagnetic studies. In this way it is possible to noninvasively study the activity of the gastro-intestinal system. This new approach may lead to important clinical applications.  相似文献

The interaction of axion and electromagnetic waves is studied in the presence of a magnetic field threading a waveguide. We calculate the effective dielectric tensor of a metal film penetrated by cylindrical holes filled with a nematic liquid crystal (NLC). We assume that the director of the NLC is parallel to the film, and that its direction within the plane can be controlled by a static magnetic field, via the Freedericksz effect. To calculate the effective dielectric tensor, we consider both randomly distributed holes (using a Maxwell-Garnett approximation) and a square lattice of holes (using a Fourier technique). Both the holes and the lattice constant of the square lattice are assumed small compared to the wavelength. The films are found to exhibit extraordinary light transmission at special frequencies related to the surface plasmon resonances of the composite film. Furthermore, the frequencies of peak transmission are found to be substantially split when the dielectric in the holes is anisotropic. For typical NLC parameters, the splitting is of order 5–10% of the metal plasma frequency. Thus, the extraordinary transmission can be controlled by a static magnetic or electric field whose direction can be rotated to orient the director of the NLC. Finally, as a practical means of producing the NLC-filled holes, we consider the case where the entire perforated metal film is dipped into a pool of NLC, so that all the holes are filled with the NLC, and there are also homogeneous slabs of NLC on both sides of the film. The transmission in this geometry is shown to have similar characteristics to that in which the NLC-filled screen is placed in air.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation has been made of nonlinear propagation of ultra-low-frequency electromagnetic waves in a magnetized two fluid (negatively charged dust and positively charged ion fluids) dusty plasma. These are modified Alfvén waves for small value of and are modified magnetosonic waves for large , where is the angle between the directions of the external magnetic field and the wave propagation. A nonlinear evolution equation for the wave magnetic field, which is known as Korteweg de Vries (K-dV) equation and which admits a stationary solitary wave solution, is derived by the reductive perturbation method. The effects of external magnetic field and dust characteristics on the amplitude and the width of these solitary structures are examined. The implications of these results to some space and astrophysical plasma systems, especially to planetary ring-systems, are briefly mentioned. The transmission of millimeter-range electromagnetic waves (30–50 GHz) through a magnetic nanocomposite thin film exhibiting tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) is calculated. The relative change of transmission coefficient in an applied magnetic field due to the magnetorefractive effect is approximately linear with TMR and strongly depends on nanocomposite resistivity and film thickness. Free-standing liquid crystal films with positive diamagnetic susceptibility can have the smectic ordering enhanced by an external field applied perpendicular to the plane layers. Within a quadratic functional integral approach, we investigate the interplay between the smectic order induced by an external field H and that due to the surface tension γ between the film and the surrounding gas. We find that the average smectic fluctuation is a non-monotonic function of film thickness, with a characteristic thickness scale ξ H delimiting the predominance of surface tension and magnetic field effects. This characteristic thickness obeys simple asymptotic power-law relations as a function of the ordering terms which allows us to represent the average smectic fluctuations in a universal scaling form.
