The development of silica‐filling elastomers with high mechanical performance and good processability is still a great challenge. In this study, we fabricated siloxane‐grafted atactic 1,2‐polybutadiene (1,2‐PB) rubber through grafting poly(1,3‐butadiene)‐block‐(dimethylsiloxane) (PB‐b‐PDMS) onto 1,2‐PB molecular chains by coordination polymerization using a molybdenum (Mo)‐based catalyst system. The PB‐b‐PDMS with active double bonds was synthesized by anionic polymerization. Fourier transform infrared analysis (FTIR), elementary analysis, and GPC‐MALLS‐viscometer analyses verified the incorporation of PB‐b‐PDMS and the grafting structure in the resulting polymer. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), bound rubber testing, and dynamic mechanical analysis demonstrated that the graft‐modification with PB‐b‐PDMS improved silica dispersity in the 1,2‐PB matrix because the incorporation of siloxane groups provided stronger interfacial interaction with silica. Meanwhile, the graft‐modified 1,2‐PB exhibited lower Mooney viscosity, higher tensile strength, and lower heat build‐up than unmodified 1,2‐PB. This concept provides novel inspiration for the preparation of advanced rubber with promoted silica compatibility and mechanical performance. 相似文献

The grafting reaction of poly(1,3‐cyclohexadienyl)lithium onto fullerene‐C60 (C60) was strongly affected by the nucleophilicity of poly(1,3‐cyclohexadiene) (PCHD) carbanions and the polymer chain microstructure, and progressed via step‐by‐step reactions. A star‐shaped PCHD, having a maximum of four arms, was obtained from poly(1,3‐cyclohexadienyl)lithium composed of all 1,4‐cyclohexadiene (1,4‐CHD) units. The rate of the grafting reaction was accelerated by the addition of amine. The grafting density of PCHD arms onto C60 decreased with an increase in the molar ratio of 1,2‐cyclohexadiene (1,2‐CHD) units. The electron‐transfer reaction from PCHD carbanions to C60 did not occur in either a nonpolar solvent or a polar solvent. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Homopoly(L ‐lactide) and homopoly(D,L ‐lactide) were almost inert for biodegradation with tricine buffer or normal enzymes such as bromelain, pronase, and cholesterol esterase but biodegradable with proteinase K. Significantly enhanced biodegradation was observed when an optically active (R)‐ or (S)‐3‐methyl‐4‐oxa‐6‐hexanolide (MOHEL) unit was introduced into poly(L ‐lactide) [poly(L ‐LA)] or poly(D,L ‐lactide) [poly(D,L ‐LA)] sequences. Poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL] in molar ratios of 86/14 to 43/57 showed good biodegradability that was independent of crystallinity. The biodegradation of polymers with proteinase K increased in the following order: poly[D,L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL] > poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL] > poly[D,L ‐LA‐ran‐(S)‐MOHEL] > poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(S)‐MOHEL] > poly(R)‐MOHEL > poly(D,L ‐LA). The number‐average molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, glass‐transition temperature, and melting temperature did not change before and after the biodegradation of poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL], indicating that the degradation occurred from the polymer surface. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Hydroxyl‐terminated poly(butadiene) (HTPB; Mn = 2100 g mol−1) was capped with 30 and 60 wt % of ɛ‐caprolactone to reach amphiphilic triblock copolymers in form of capped poly(butadiene) CPB. The former (CPB30; Mn = 3300 g/mol) is amorphous with a glass temperature of −56 °C. CPB60 (Mn = 4000 g mol−1) is semi‐crystalline with a melting point of 50 °C and a glass transition at −47 °C. The CPBs, HTPB and polycaprolactone diol (Mn = 2000 g mol−1) were used as soft segment components in the preparation of polyurethane elastomers (PUE), using a 1/1 mixture of an MDI prepolymer and uretonimine modified MDI, and hard phase components in form of 1,3‐propane diol, 1,4‐butane diol, and 1,5‐pentane diol. CPB‐based elastomers with 1,4 butane diol (8 wt %) show hard domains as fringed aggregates with a better connection to the continuous phase than the HTPB‐based PUE. The soft segment glass transition temperature (Tg) is at −28 °C for HTPB‐based PUE and at −43 °C for those of CPB. The tensile strength of the CPB30&60‐based PUE is found between 20 and 30 MPa at an elongation at break of 400% and 550%, respectively. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Treatment of 1,1‐bis(pinacolatoboryl)ethene with an excess of 1‐bromo‐1‐lithioethene gave 2,3‐bis(pinacolatoboryl)‐1,3‐butadiene in high yield. Palladium‐catalyzed cross‐coupling of the resulting diborylbutadiene with aryl iodides took place smoothly in the presence of a catalytic amount of Pd(OAc)2/PPh3 and aqueous KOH to give 2,3‐diaryl‐1,3‐butadienes in good yields. The coupling reaction with commercially available 4‐acetoxyphenylmethyl chloride under the same conditions followed by hydrolysis of the acetyl groups gave anolignan B in a one‐pot manner. A variety of [3]‐ to [6]dendralenes were synthesized by palladium‐catalyzed coupling of the diene or 1,1‐bis(pinacolato)borylethene with alkenyl or dienyl halides, respectively, in good yields. 相似文献

We investigated the miscibilities and morphologies of isotactic and syndiotactic polypropenes (i‐PP/s‐PP) with random poly(ethene‐co‐1‐butene) (PEB) as a function of 1‐butene content in PEB. The blend samples were studied by means of phase imaging atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis and X‐ray scattering. It was found that i‐PP is melt miscible with PEB for 1‐butene contents of ≈ 88 wt.‐% (miscibility window). Partial miscibility was found for s‐PP/PEB blends for 1‐butene contents ranging from 50‐88 wt.‐%. 相似文献

Model diblock copolymers of poly(1,4‐butadiene) (PB) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), PB‐b‐PDMS, were synthesized by the sequential anionic polymerization (high vacuum techniques) of butadiene and hexamethylciclotrisiloxane (D3) in the presence of sec‐BuLi. By homogeneous hydrogenation of PB‐b‐PDMS, the corresponding poly(ethylene) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) block copolymers, PE‐b‐PDMS, were obtained. The synthesized block copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H and 13C NMR), size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and rheology. SEC combined with 1H NMR analysis indicates that the polydispersity index of the samples (Mw/Mn) is low, and that the chemical composition of the copolymers varies from low to medium PDMS content. According to DSC and TGA experiments, the thermal stability of these block copolymers depends on the PDMS content, whereas TEM analysis reveals ordered arrangements of the microphases. The morphologies observed vary from spherical and cylindrical to lamellar domains. This ordered state (even at high temperatures) was further confirmed by small‐amplitude oscillatory shear flow tests. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The first‐ever grafting of poly(1,3‐cyclohexadiene) (PCHD) onto single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) was accomplished by reaction with poly(1,3‐cyclohexadienyl)lithium. The rate of this reaction was especially slow due to the heterogeneous nature of the reaction system. The concentration of active carbons available for reaction with PCHDLi on the solid surface of the SWNTs was found to be approximately 2.0 mol %. The mass of PCHD attached to the SWNTs was effectively controlled by varying the molecular weight of the PCHD. The resulting PCHD‐grafted SWNTs exhibited excellent solubility in organic solvent, maintaining a highly stable homogeneous dispersion even after 3 months. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polystyrene‐b‐poly(1,2‐isoprene‐ran‐3,4‐isoprene) block copolymers with azobenzene side groups were synthesized by the esterification of azobenzene acid chloride with polystyrene‐b‐hydroxylated poly(1,2‐isoprene‐ran‐3,4‐isopenre) block copolymers for creating new photochromic materials. The resulting block copolymers with azobenzene side groups were characterized for structural, thermal, and morphological properties. IR and NMR spectroscopies confirmed that the polymers obtained had the expected structures. Differential scanning calorimetric measurements by heating runs clearly showed the glass transitions of polystyrene and polyisoprene main chains and two distinct first‐order transitions at temperatures of azobenzene side groups around 48 and 83 °C. The microstructure of these block copolymer films was investigated using both transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and near‐field optical microscopy (NOM). TEM images revealed typical microphase‐separated morphologies such as sphere, cylinder, and lamellar structures. The domain spacing of microphase‐separated cylindrical morphology in the NOM image agreed with that of the TEM results. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(1,3‐cyclohexadiene) (PCHD) derivatives were synthesized via facile chemical modification reactions of the residual double bond in the repeat unit. The oxidation and degradation of PCHD was investigated to enable subsequent controlled epoxidation reactions. PCHD exhibited a 15% weight loss at 110 °C in the presence of oxygen. The oxidative degradation, demonstrated by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and 1H NMR spectroscopy, was attributed to main‐chain scission. Aldehyde and ether functional groups were introduced into the polymer during the oxidation process. PCHD was quantitatively epoxidized in the absence of deleterious oxidation with meta‐chloroperoxybenzoic acid. 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy confirmed that polymers with controlled degrees of epoxidation were reproducibly obtained. Epoxidized PCHD exhibited a glass‐transition temperature at 154 °C, which was slightly higher than that of a PCHD precursor of a nearly equivalent molecular weight. Moreover, GPC indicated the absence of undesirable crosslinking or degradation, and the molecular weight distributions remained narrow. The thermooxidative stability of the fully epoxidized polymer was compared to that of the PCHD precursor, and the epoxidized PCHD exhibited an initial weight loss at 250 °C in oxygen, which was 140 °C higher than the temperature for PCHD. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dimethyl bicyclobutane‐1,3‐dicarboxylate was synthesized. Its homopolymer (PDBD) containing exclusively cyclobutane rings in its backbone was prepared by free radical polymerization. The copolymers of this bicyclobutane monomer with methyl methacrylate were also prepared. The glass transition temperature of the homopolymer is 159°C, while those of its copolymers are 143 and 121°C with 75/25 and 50/50 of the P(DBD/MMA) composition ratio, respectively. The Tg of PDBD homopolymer is substantially higher than that of commercial PMMA homopolymer despite a lower molecular weight, and is also much higher than that of its monomethyl cyclobutanecarboxylate analogue. These DBD homopolymer and copolymers also show better thermostability than the PMMA homopolymer. The weight‐average molecular weight of homopolymer is 37,000. The polydispersities of these polymers are relatively narrow, with the range of 1.6–1.9. These polymers form clear colorless films resembling PMMA film. The DBD homopolymer film shows a very similar optical cutoff compared to PMMA. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci A: Polym Chem 37: 1569–1575, 1999 相似文献

Polymerizations of 1‐naphthylacetylene (1‐NA) and 9‐anthrylacetylene (9‐AA) by various transition metal catalysts were studied, and properties of the polymers were clarified. 1‐NA polymerized with WCl6‐based catalysts to offer dark purple polymers in good yield. Especially, a binary catalyst composed of WCl6 and Ph3Bi gave a polymer with high molecular weight (Mw = 140×103) and sufficient solubility in common solvents. The use of Mo and Rh catalysts, in contrast, resulted in the formation of insoluble red poly(1‐NA)s. 9‐AA gave insoluble polymers by both WCl6‐ and MoCl5‐based catalysts in moderate to good yields. Copolymerization of 9‐AA with 1‐NA by WCl6–Ph3Bi provided a soluble copolymer which exhibited the largest third‐order nonlinear optical susceptibilities (χ(3)(−3ω; ω, ω, ω) = 40×10−12) among all the substituted polyacetylenes synthesized so far. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The homopolyester of 4‐hydroxyphenylacetic acid (HPAA) was synthesized by one‐pot, slurry‐melt, and acidolysis melt polymerization techniques and was characterized by its inherent viscosity and IR and NMR spectra. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarizing light microscopy (PLM), and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD) studies of the homopolymer were carried out for its thermal and phase behavior. The results indicated that the yield and molecular weight of the polymer depended on the method of preparation; moreover, the acidolysis melt polymerization of the pure acetoxy derivative of HPAA was the best method for the preparation of high molecular weight poly(4‐oxyphenylacetate) (polyHPAA) without side reactions. DSC and PLM studies also showed that the thermal and optical properties depended largely on the polymerization conditions and inherent viscosity values. PolyHPAA did not show a clear texture typical of liquid‐crystalline polymers, whereas after cooling from the melt, structures similar to spherulitic crystals were observed. WAXD patterns showed a crystalline nature. The in vitro degradability of the polymer was also studied via the water absorption in buffer solutions of pH 7 and 10 at 30 and 60 °C; this was followed by Fourier transform infrared, inherent viscosity, DSC, thermogravimetric analysis, WAXD, and scanning electron microscopy techniques. Unlike Vectra®, which showed no degradation, polyHPAA showed an increase in hydrolytic degradation from 5.0 and 6.0% at 30 °C to 12.5 and 15.0% at 60 °C after 350 h in buffer solutions of pH 7 and 10, respectively. The results indicated a possible biomedical prosthetic application of poly(oxyphenylalkanoate)s such as polyHPAA with better crystallinity coupled with degradability as a substitute for poly(hydroxyalkanoates). © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Poly(methyl methacrylate)–poly(acrylonitrile‐co‐butadiene) (PMMA–NBR) core–shell structured nanoparticles were prepared using a two‐stage semibatch microemulsion polymerization system with PMMA and NBR as the core and shell, respectively. The Gemini surfactant 12‐3‐12 was used as the emulsifier and found to impose a pronounced influence on the formation of core–shell nanoparticles. The spherical morphology of core–shell nanoparticles was observed. It was found that there exists an optimal MMA addition amount, which can result in the minimized size of PMMA–NBR core–shell nanoparticles. The formation mechanism of the core–shell structure and the interaction between the core and shell domains was illustrated. The PMMA–NBR nanosize latex can be used as the substrate for the following direct latex hydrogenation catalyzed by Wilkinson's catalyst to prepare the PMMA–HNBR (hydrogenated NBR) core–shell nanoparticles. The hydrogenation rate is rapid. In the absence of any organic solvent, the PMMA–HNBR nanoparticles with a size of 30.6 nm were obtained within 3 h using 0.9 wt % Wilkinson's catalyst at 130 °C under 1000 psi of H2. This study provides a new perspective in the chemical modification of NBR and shows promise in the realization of a “green” process for the commercial hydrogenation of unsaturated elastomers. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel class of biomimetic glycopolymer–polypeptide triblock copolymers [poly(L ‐glutamate)–poly(2‐acryloyloxyethyllactoside)–poly(L ‐glutamate)] was synthesized by the sequential atom transfer radical polymerization of a protected lactose‐based glycomonomer and the ring‐opening polymerization of β‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate N‐carboxyanhydride. Gel permeation chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance analyses demonstrated that triblock copolymers with defined architectures, controlled molecular weights, and low polydispersities were successfully obtained. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of the triblock copolymers revealed that the α‐helix/β‐sheet ratio increased with the poly(benzyl‐L ‐glutamate) block length. Furthermore, the water‐soluble triblock copolymers self‐assembled into lactose‐installed polymeric aggregates; this was investigated with the hydrophobic dye solubilization method and ultraviolet–visible analysis. Notably, this kind of aggregate may be useful as an artificial polyvalent ligand in the investigation of carbohydrate–protein recognition and for the design of site‐specific drug‐delivery systems. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Well‐defined poly(m‐phenylene) (PMP), which is poly(1,3‐dibutoxy‐m‐phenylene), was successfully synthesized via Grignard metathesis polymerization. PMP with a reasonably high number‐average molecular weight (Mn) of 25,900 and a very low polydispersity index of 1.07 was obtained. The polymerization of a Grignard reagent monomer, 1‐bromo‐2,4‐dibutoxy‐5‐chloromagnesiobenzene, proceeded in a chain‐growth manner, probably due to the meta‐substituted design producing a short distance between the MgCl and Br groups and thereby making a smooth nickel species (? C? Ni? C? ) transfer to the intramolecular chain end (? C? Ni? Br) over a benzene ring. PMP showed a good solubility in the common organic solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran, CH2Cl2, and CHCl3. Furthermore, a new block copolymer comprised of PMP and poly(3‐hexylthiophene) was also prepared. The tapping mode atomic force microscopy image of the surface of the block copolymer thin film on a mica substrate showed a nanofibril morphology with a clear contrast. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ethylene glycol (EG) initiated, hydroxyl‐telechelic poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) was employed as a macroinitiator in the presence of a stannous octoate catalyst in the ring‐opening polymerization of 5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MBC) with the goal of creating A–B–A‐type block copolymers having polycarbonate outer blocks and a polyester center block. Because of transesterification reactions involving the PLLA block, multiblock copolymers of the A–(B–A)n–B–A type were actually obtained, where A is poly(5‐methyl‐5‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one), B is PLLA, and n is greater than 0. 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy of the product copolymers yielded evidence of the multiblock structure and provided the lactide sequence length. For a PLLA macroinitiator with a number‐average molecular weight of 2500 g/mol, the product block copolymer had an n value of 0.8 and an average lactide sequence length (consecutive C6H8O4 units uninterrupted by either an EG or MBC unit) of 6.1. For a PLLA macroinitiator with a number‐average molecular weight of 14,400 g/mol, n was 18, and the average lactide sequence length was 5.0. Additional evidence of the block copolymer architecture was revealed through the retention of PLLA crystallinity as measured by differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction. Multiblock copolymers with PLLA crystallinity could be achieved only with isolated PLLA macroinitiators; sequential addition of MBC to high‐conversion L ‐lactide polymerizations resulted in excessive randomization, presumably because of residual L ‐lactide monomer. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of poly(amide‐imide)s were prepared using a new monomer, 1,3‐bis(trimellitimido)‐2,4,6‐trimethyl benzene (BTB), with four different diamines: 1,4‐phenylene diamine (PDA), 2,4‐diamino mesitylene (DAM), 2,2′‐dimethyl‐4,4′‐diamino biphenyl (DMDB), and 2,2′‐bis(trifluoromethyl)‐4,4′‐diamino biphenyl (TFDB). They were prepared by the condensation method in N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP) solvent using triphenyl phosphate and pyridine as condensing agents. The synthesized poly(amide‐imide)s were characterized by Fourier transform infrared and 1H NMR techniques. Films were prepared and characterized using DSC, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), a prism coupler, and a film dielectric property analyzer. DSC measurement showed that the glass‐transition temperatures of the polymers were in the range of 259–327 °C. TGA analysis showed 5% weight loss, in the range of 472–514 °C. The refractive index varied from 1.6004 to 1.6586 in the following increasing order: BTB‐TFBM < BTB‐DAM < BTB‐DMDB < BTB‐PDA. For the poly(amide‐imide) films, the birefringence varied in the range of 0.0319–0.0580, in the following increasing order: BTB‐DAM < BTB‐TFBM < BTB‐DMDB < BTB‐PDA. The capacitance method showed that the dielectric constant of poly(amide‐imide) varied with the diamine structure; no difference was found by the optical method. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
