The 2-norm distance from a matrix A to the set ${\mathcal{M}}$ of n × n matrices with a zero eigenvalue of multiplicity ≥3 is estimated. If $$Q(\gamma _1 ,\gamma _2 ,\gamma _3 ) = \left( {\begin{array}{*{20}c} A & {\gamma _1 I_n } & {\gamma _3 I_n } \\ 0 & A & {\gamma _2 I_n } \\ 0 & 0 & A \\ \end{array} } \right), n \geqslant 3,$$ then $$\rho _2 (A,{\mathcal{M}}) \geqslant {\mathop {max}\limits_{\gamma _1 ,\gamma _2 \geqslant 0,\gamma _3 \in {\mathbb{C}}}} \sigma _{3n - 2} (Q(\gamma _1 ,\gamma _2 ,\gamma _3 )),$$ where σi(·)is the ith singular value of the corresponding matrix in the decreasing order of singular values. Moreover, if the maximum on the right-hand side is attained at the point $\gamma ^ * = (\gamma _1^ * ,\gamma _2^ * ,\gamma _3^ * )$ , where $\gamma _1^ * \gamma _2^ * \ne 0$ , then, in fact, one has the exact equality $$\rho _2 (A,{\mathcal{M}}) = \sigma _{3n - 2} (Q(\gamma _1^ * ,\gamma _2^ * ,\gamma _3^ * )).$$ This result can be regarded as an extension of Malyshev's formula, which gives the 2-norm distance from A to the set of matrices with a multiple zero eigenvalue.  相似文献

By means of Riccati transformation technique, we establish some new oscillation criteria for second-order nonlinear delay difference equation $$\Delta (p_n (\Delta x_n )^\gamma ) + q_n f(x_{n - \sigma } ) = 0,\;\;\;\;n = 0,1,2,...,$$ when $\sum\limits_{n = 0}^\infty {\left( {\frac{1}{{Pn}}} \right)^{\frac{1}{\gamma }} = \infty }$ . When $\sum\limits_{n = 0}^\infty {\left( {\frac{1}{{Pn}}} \right)^{\frac{1}{\gamma }} < \infty }$ we present some sufficient conditions which guarantee that, every solution oscillates or converges to zero. When $\sum\limits_{n = 0}^\infty {\left( {\frac{1}{{Pn}}} \right)^{\frac{1}{\gamma }} = \infty }$ holds, our results do not require the nonlinearity to be nondecreasing and are thus applicable to new classes of equations to which most previously known results are not.  相似文献

The solvability of the nonlocal-in-time boundary-value problem for the nonlinear parabolic equation $$u_t - \Delta u + c(\bar u(x,T))u = f(x,t),$$ where $\bar u(x,t) = \alpha (t)u(x,t) + \int_0^t {\beta (\tau )u(x,\tau )d\tau } $ for given functions $\alpha (t)$ and $\beta (t)$ , is studied. Existence and uniqueness theorems for regular solutions are proved; it is shown that the results obtained can be used to study the solvability of coefficient inverse problems.  相似文献

Let $f(x,y,x,w) = x^2 + y^2 + z^2 + Dw^2$ , where $D >1$ is an integer such that $D \ne d^2$ and ${{\sqrt n } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\sqrt n } {\sqrt D = n^\theta , 0 < \theta < {1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}}}} \right. \kern-0em} {\sqrt D = n^\theta , 0 < \theta < {1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}}}$ . Let $rf(n)$ be the number of representations of n by f. It is proved that $r_f (n) = \pi ^2 \frac{n}{{\sqrt D }}\sigma _f (n) + O\left( {\frac{{n^{1 + \varepsilon - c(\theta )} }}{{\sqrt D }}} \right),$ where $\sigma _f (n)$ is the singular series, $c(\theta ) >0$ , and ε is an arbitrarily small positive constant. We consider the scalar homogeneous equation $S(x) = \int_0^\infty {K(x - t)S(t)dt,{\text{ }}x \in \mathbb{R}^ + \equiv (0,\infty ),}$ with symmetric kernel $K:K( - x) = K(x),{\text{ }}x \in \mathbb{R}_1$ satisfying the conditions $0 \leqslant K \in L_1 (\mathbb{R}^ + ) \cap C^{\left( 2 \right)} (\mathbb{R}^ + )$ , $\int_0^\infty {K(t)dt > \frac{1}{2}} $ , $K' \leqslant 0{\text{ }}and 0 \leqslant K'' \downarrow {\text{ }}on \mathbb{R}^ + $ . We prove the existence of a real solution S of the equation given above with asymptotic behavior $S(x) = O(x){\text{ as }}x \to + \infty $ .  相似文献

Let $A^{(l)} (l = 1, \ldots ,k)$ be $n \times n$ nonnegative matrices with right and left Perron vectors $u^{(l)} $ and $v^{(l)} $ , respectively, and let $D^{(l)} $ and $E^{(l)} (l = 1, \ldots ,k)$ be positive-definite diagonal matrices of the same order. Extending known results, under the assumption that $$u^{(1)} \circ v^{(1)} = \ldots = u^{(k)} \circ v^{(k)} \ne 0$$ (where `` $ \circ $ '' denotes the componentwise, i.e., the Hadamard product of vectors) but without requiring that the matrices $A^{(l)} $ be irreducible, for the Perron root of the sum $\sum\nolimits_{l = 1}^k {D^{(l)} A^{(l)} E^{(l)} } $ we derive a lower bound of the form $$\rho \left( {\sum\limits_{l = 1}^k {D^{(l)} A^{(l)} E^{(l)} } } \right) \geqslant \sum\limits_{l = 1}^k {\beta _{l\rho } (A^{(l)} ),{\text{ }}\beta _l >0.} $$ Also we prove that, for arbitrary irreducible nonnegative matrices $A^{{\text{ (}}l{\text{)}}} (l = 1, \ldots ,k),$ , $$\rho \left( {\sum\limits_{l = 1}^k {A^{(l)} } } \right) \geqslant \sum\limits_{l = 1}^k {\alpha _{l\rho } (A^{(l)} ),} $$ where the coefficients ∝1>0 are specified using an arbitrarily chosen normalized positive vector. The cases of equality in both estimates are analyzed, and some other related results are established. Bibliography: 8 titles.  相似文献

Let $\gamma ,\delta \in \mathbb{R}^n $ with $\gamma _j ,\delta _j \in \{ 0,1\} $ . A comparison pair for a system of equations fi(u1,…,un)=0 (i=1,…,n) is a pair of vectors $v,w \in \mathbb{R}^n ,v \leqslant w$ , such that $$\begin{array}{*{20}c} {\gamma _i f_i (u_1 , \ldots ,u_{i - 1} ,v_i ,u_i + 1, \ldots ,u_n ) \leqslant 0,} \\ {\delta _i f_i (u_1 , \ldots ,u_{i - 1} ,w_i ,u_i + 1, \ldots ,u_n ) \geqslant 0} \\ \end{array} $$ for $\gamma _j u_j \geqslant v_j ,\delta _j u_j \leqslant w_j (j = 1, \ldots ,n)$ . The presence of comparison pairs enables one to essentially weaken the assumptions of the existence theorem. Bibliography: 1 title.  相似文献

Let $W: = \exp \left( { - Q} \right)$ , where $Q$ is of smooth polynomial growth at $\infty$ , for example $Q\left( x \right) = \left| x \right|^\beta ,\beta >1$ . We call $W^2 $ a Freud weight. Let $\left\{ {x_{j{\kern 1pt} n} } \right\}_{j = 1}^n $ and $\left\{ {\lambda _{j{\kern 1pt} n} } \right\}_{j = 1}^n $ denote respectively the zeros of the $n$ th orthonormal polynomial $p_n$ for $W^2 $ and the Christoffel numbers of order $n$ . We establish converse quadrature sum inequalities associated with W, such as $$\left\| {\left( {PW} \right)\left( x \right)\left( {1 + \left| x \right|} \right)^r } \right\|_{L_p \left( R \right)} $$ with $C$ independent of $n$ and polynomials P of degree $ < n$ , and suitable restrictions on $r$ , $R$ . We concentrate on the case ${ \geqq 4}$ , as the case ${p < 4}$ was handled earlier. We are able to treat a general class of Freud weights, whereas our earlier treatment dealt essentially with $\left( { - \left| x \right|^\beta } \right),\beta = 2,4,6,....$ Some applications to Lagrange interpolation are presented.  相似文献

Suppose that the Lindelöf conjecture is valid in the following quantitative form: $$|\zeta (\frac{1}{2} + it)| \leqslant c_0 |t|^{\varepsilon (|t|)} $$ , where ε(t) is a monotone decreasing function, $\varepsilon (2t) \geqslant \tfrac{1}{2}\varepsilon (t),\varepsilon (t) \geqslant \tfrac{1}{{\sqrt {log t} }}$ . Then it is proved that for |t|≥T0 the disk $\{ s:|s - \tfrac{1}{2} - it| \leqslant v\} $ contains at most 20v log |t| zeros of ζ(s) if $\tfrac{1}{2} \geqslant v \geqslant \sqrt {\varepsilon (t)} $ . There exists an absolute constant A such that for |t|≥T1 the disk $\{ s:|s - \tfrac{1}{2} - it| \leqslant A\varepsilon ^{\tfrac{1}{3}} (t)\} $ contains at least one zero of ζ(s). Let (M,g) be an n-dimensional, compact Riemannian manifold and ${P_0(\hbar) = -\hbar{^2} \Delta_g + V(x)}$ be a semiclassical Schrödinger operator with ${\hbar \in (0,\hbar_0]}$ . Let ${E(\hbar) \in [E-o(1),E+o(1)]}$ and ${(\phi_{\hbar})_{\hbar \in (0,\hbar_0]}}$ be a family of L 2-normalized eigenfunctions of ${P_0(\hbar)}$ with ${P_0(\hbar) \phi_{\hbar} = E(\hbar) \phi_{\hbar}}$ . We consider magnetic deformations of ${P_0(\hbar)}$ of the form ${P_u(\hbar) = - \Delta_{\omega_u}(\hbar) + V(x)}$ , where ${\Delta_{\omega_u}(\hbar) = (\hbar d + i \omega_u(x))^*({\hbar}d + i \omega_u(x))}$ . Here, u is a k-dimensional parameter running over ${B^k(\epsilon)}$ (the ball of radius ${\epsilon}$ ), and the family of the magnetic potentials ${(w_u)_{u\in B^k(\epsilon)}}$ satisfies the admissibility condition given in Definition 1.1. This condition implies that kn and is generic under this assumption. Consider the corresponding family of deformations of ${(\phi_{\hbar})_{\hbar \in (0, \hbar_0]}}$ , given by ${(\phi^u_{\hbar})_{\hbar \in(0, \hbar_0]}}$ , where $$\phi_{\hbar}^{(u)}:= {\rm e}^{-it_0 P_u(\hbar)/\hbar}\phi_{\hbar}$$ for ${|t_0|\in (0,\epsilon)}$ ; the latter functions are themselves eigenfunctions of the ${\hbar}$ -elliptic operators ${Q_u(\hbar): ={\rm e}^{-it_0P_u(\hbar)/\hbar} P_0(\hbar) {\rm e}^{it_0 P_u(\hbar)/\hbar}}$ with eigenvalue ${E(\hbar)}$ and ${Q_0(\hbar) = P_{0}(\hbar)}$ . Our main result, Theorem1.2, states that for ${\epsilon >0 }$ small, there are constants ${C_j=C_j(M,V,\omega,\epsilon) > 0}$ with j = 1,2 such that $$C_{1}\leq \int\limits_{\mathcal{B}^k(\epsilon)} |\phi_{\hbar}^{(u)}(x)|^2 \, {\rm d}u \leq C_{2}$$ , uniformly for ${x \in M}$ and ${\hbar \in (0,h_0]}$ . We also give an application to eigenfunction restriction bounds in Theorem 1.3.  相似文献

On simultaneous approximation by lagrange interpolating polynomials   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper considers to replace △_m(x)=(1-x~2)~2(1/2)/n +1/n~2 in the following result for simultaneousLagrange interpolating approximation with (1-x~2)~2(1/2)/n: Let f∈C_(-1.1)~0 and r=[(q+2)/2],then|f~(k)(x)-P_~(k)(f,x)|=O(1)△_(n)~(a-k)(x)ω(f~(a),△(x))(‖L_n-‖+‖L_n‖),0≤k≤q,where P_n( f ,x)is the Lagrange interpolating polynomial of degree n+ 2r-1 of f on the nodes X_nU Y_n(see the definition of the text), and thus give a problem raised in [XiZh] a complete answer.  相似文献

Let $U \subset L_o ([0,1],\mathcal{M},m)$ be a set of Lebesgue measurable functions. Suppose also that two seminormed spaces of real number sequences are given: $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ . We study $\left( {\mathcal{A},\mathcal{B}} \right)$ -sets U defined by the classes $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ as follows: $\forall a = (a_n ) \in \mathcal{A}, \forall (f_n (t)) \in u^\mathbb{N} $ (or for sequences similar to $(f_n (t))$ ) $\exists E = E(a) \subset [0,1], mE = 1$ such that $\{ a_n f_n (t)\} 1_E (t)\} \in \mathcal{B}, t \in [0,1]$ . We consider three versions of the definition of $\left( {\mathcal{A},\mathcal{B}} \right)$ -sets, one of which is based on functions independent in the probability sense. The case ${\mathcal{B}}=l_\infty$ is studied in detail. It is shown that $({\mathcal{A}},l_\infty)$ -independent sets are sets bounded or order bounded in some well-known function spaces (L p , L p,q , etc.) constructed with respect to the Lebesgue measure. A characterization of such sets in terms of seminormed spaces of number sequences is given. The (l 1,c °)- and $(\mathcal{A},l_1 )$ -sets were studied by E. M. Nikishin.  相似文献

Let $I^d $ be the d‐dimensional cube, $I^d = [0,1]^d $ , and let $F \ni f \mapsto Sf \in L_\infty (I^d ) $ be a linear operator acting on the Sobolev space F, where Fis either $$$$ or $$$$ where $$\left\| f \right\|_F = \sum\limits_{\left| m \right| = r} {\mathop {{\text{esssup}}}\limits_{x \in I^d } \left| {\frac{{\partial f^{\left| m \right|} }} {{\partial x_1^{m_1 } \partial x_2^{m_2 } \cdot \cdot \cdot \partial x_d^{m_d } }}(x)} \right|.} $$ We assume that the problem elements fsatisfy the condition $\sum\nolimits_{\left| m \right| = r} {{\text{esssup}}} _{x \in I^d } \left| {f^{(m)} (x)} \right| \leqslant 1 $ and that Sis continuous with respect to the supremum norm. We study sensitivity of optimal recovery of Sfrom inexact samples of ftaken at npoints forming a uniform grid on $I^d $ . We assume that the inaccuracy in reading the sample vector is measured in the pth norm and bounded by a nonnegative number δ. The sensitivity is defined by the difference between the optimal errors corresponding to the exact and perturbed readings, respectively. Our main result is that this difference is bounded by $\mathcal{A}\delta $ , where $\mathcal{A} $ is a positive constant independent of the number of samples. This indicates that the curse of dimension, which badly affects the optimal errors, does not extend to sensitivity.  相似文献

Letq be a regular quadratic form on a vector space (V, $\mathbb{F}$ ) and assume $4 \leqslant dim V \leqslant \infty \wedge |\mathbb{F}| \in \mathbb{N}$ . A 1-isometry of the central quadric $\mathcal{F}: = \{ x \in V|q(x) = 1\}$ is a permutation ? of $\mathcal{F}$ such that (*) $$q(x - y) = \nu \Leftrightarrow q(x^\varphi - y^\varphi ) = \nu \forall x,y \in \mathcal{F}$$ holds true for a fixed element ν of $\mathbb{F}$ . For arbitraryν $\mathbb{F}$ we prove that? is induced (in a certain sense) by a semi-linear bijection $(\sigma ,\varrho ):(V,\mathbb{F}) \to (V,\mathbb{F})$ such thatq oσ =? oq, provided $\mathcal{F}$ contains lines and the exceptional case $(\nu = 2 \Lambda |\mathbb{F}| = 3 \Lambda \dim V = 4 \Lambda |\mathcal{F}| = 24)$ is excluded. In the exceptional case and as well in case of dim V = 3 there are counterexamples. The casesν ≠ 2 and v=2 require different techniques.  相似文献

Applying the boundedness on weighted Lebesgue spaces of the maximal singular integral operator S * related to the Carleson?CHunt theorem on almost everywhere convergence, we study the boundedness and compactness of pseudodifferential operators a(x, D) with non-regular symbols in ${L^\infty(\mathbb{R}, V(\mathbb{R})), PC(\overline{\mathbb{R}}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ and ${\Lambda_\gamma(\mathbb{R}, V_d(\mathbb{R}))}$ on the weighted Lebesgue spaces ${L^p(\mathbb{R},w)}$ , with 1?< p <? ?? and ${w\in A_p(\mathbb{R})}$ . The Banach algebras ${L^\infty(\mathbb{R}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ and ${PC(\overline{\mathbb{R}}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ consist, respectively, of all bounded measurable or piecewise continuous ${V(\mathbb{R})}$ -valued functions on ${\mathbb{R}}$ where ${V(\mathbb{R})}$ is the Banach algebra of all functions on ${\mathbb{R}}$ of bounded total variation, and the Banach algebra ${\Lambda_\gamma(\mathbb{R}, V_d(\mathbb{R}))}$ consists of all Lipschitz ${V_d(\mathbb{R})}$ -valued functions of exponent ${\gamma \in (0,1]}$ on ${\mathbb{R}}$ where ${V_d(\mathbb{R})}$ is the Banach algebra of all functions on ${\mathbb{R}}$ of bounded variation on dyadic shells. Finally, for the Banach algebra ${\mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ generated by all pseudodifferential operators a(x, D) with symbols ${a(x, \lambda) \in PC(\overline{\mathbb{R}}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ on the space ${L^p(\mathbb{R}, w)}$ , we construct a non-commutative Fredholm symbol calculus and give a Fredholm criterion for the operators ${A \in \mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ .  相似文献

Let and be polynomials orthogonal on the unit circle with respect to the measures dσ and dμ, respectively. In this paper we consider the question how the orthogonality measures dσ and dμ are related to each other if the orthogonal polynomials are connected by a relation of the form , for , where . It turns out that the two measures are related by if , where and are known trigonometric polynomials of fixed degree and where the 's are the zeros of on . If the 's and 's are uniformly bounded then (under some additional conditions) much more can be said. Indeed, in this case the measures dσ and dμ have to be of the form and , respectively, where are nonnegative trigonometric polynomials. Finally, the question is considered to which weight functions polynomials of the form where denotes the reciprocal polynomial of , can be orthogonal. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the problem of the variation (if any) of the sets of convergence and divergence everywhere or almost everywhere of a multiple Fourier series (integral) of a function $f \in L_p $ , $p \geqslant 1$ , $f(x) = 0$ , on a set of positive measure $\mathfrak{A} \subset \mathbb{T}^N = [ - \pi ,\pi )^N $ , $N \geqslant 2$ , depending on the rotation of the coordinate system, i.e., depending on the element $\tau \in \mathcal{F}$ , where $\mathcal{F}$ is the rotation group about the origin in $\mathbb{R}^N $ . This problem has been reduced to the study of the change in the geometry of the sets $\tau ^{ - 1} (\mathfrak{A}) \cap \mathbb{T}^N $ (where $\tau ^{ - 1} \in \mathcal{F}$ satisfies $\tau ^{ - 1} \cdot \tau = 1$ ) and $\mathbb{T}^N \backslash {\text{supp}}(f \circ \tau )$ depending on the “rotation,” i.e., on $\tau \in \mathcal{F}$ . In the present paper, we consider two settings of this problem (depending on the sense in which the Fourier series of the function $f \circ \tau $ is understood) and give (for both cases) possible solutions of the problem in the class $L_1 (\mathbb{T}^N )$ , $N \geqslant 2$ .  相似文献
