Bäcklund transformations relating the solutions of linear PDE with variable coefficients to those of PDE with constant coefficients are found, generalizing the study of Varley and Seymour [2]. Auto-Bäcklund transformations are also determined. To facilitate the generation of new solutions via Bäcklund transformation, explicit solutions of both classes of the PDE just mentioned are found using invariance properties of these equations and other methods. Some of these solutions are new.  相似文献

We study the class of nonlinear ordinary differential equations y″ y = F(z, y2), where F is a smooth function. Various ordinary differential equations with a well-known importance for applications belong to this class of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Indeed, the Emden–Fowler equation, the Ermakov–Pinney equation, and the generalized Ermakov equations are among them. We construct Bäcklund transformations and auto-Bäcklund transformations: starting from a trivial solution, these last transformations induce the construction of a ladder of new solutions admitted by the given differential equations. Notably, the highly nonlinear structure of this class of nonlinear ordinary differential equations implies that numerical methods are very difficult to apply.  相似文献

It has been shown that many fully nonlinear wave equations with nonlinear dispersion terms possess compacton solutions and solitary patterns solutions. In this paper, with the aid of Maple, the mKdV equation, the equation with a source term, the five order KdV-like equation and the KdV–mKdV equation are investigated using some new, generalized transformations. As a consequence, it is shown that these equations with linear dispersion terms admit new compacton-like solutions and solitary patterns-like solutions. These transformations can be also extended to other nonlinear wave equations with nonlinear dispersion terms to seek new compacton-like solutions and solitary patterns-like solutions.  相似文献

We prove invariance of a quasilinear parabolic equation with anisotropic heat conductivity in the three-dimensional coordinate space under some equivalence transformations and present some explicit formulas for these transformations. We consider nontrivial reductions of the equation to similar equations of less spatial dimension. Using these results, we construct new exact multidimensional solutions to the equation which depend on arbitrary harmonic functions.  相似文献

In the recent paper by Kudryashov [11] seven common errors in finding exact solutions of nonlinear differential equations were listed and discussed in detail. We indicate two more common errors concerning the similarity (equivalence with respect to point transformations) and linearizability of differential equations and then discuss the first of them. Classes of generalized KdV and mKdV equations with variable coefficients are used in order to clarify our conclusions. We investigate admissible point transformations in classes of generalized KdV equations, obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions of similarity of such equations to the standard KdV and mKdV equations and carried out the exhaustive group classification of a class of variable-coefficient KdV equations. Then a number of recent papers on such equations are commented using the above results. It is shown that exact solutions were constructed in these papers only for equations which are reduced by point transformations to the standard KdV and mKdV equations. Therefore, exact solutions of such equations can be obtained from known solutions of the standard KdV and mKdV equations in an easier way than by direct solving. The same statement is true for other equations which are equivalent to well-known equations with respect to point transformations.  相似文献

Using the idea of transformation, some links between (2 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear evolution equations and the ordinary differential equations Painlevé-II equations has been illustrated. The Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equation, generalized (2 + 1)-dimensional break soliton equation and (2 + 1)-dimensional Boussinesq equation are researched. As a result, some new interesting results about these (2 + 1)-dimensional PDEs have been obtained, such as the exact solutions with arbitrary functions, rich rational solutions and the nontrivial Bäcklund transformations have been derived.  相似文献

We consider rational solutions for a number of dynamic systems of the type of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, in particular, the Levi system. We derive the equations for the dynamics of poles and Bäcklund transformations for these solutions. We show that these solutions can be reduced to rational solutions of the Painlevé IV equation, with the equations for the pole dynamics becoming the stationary equations for the two-dimensional Coulomb gas in a parabolic potential. The corresponding Coulomb systems are derived for the Painlevé II–VI equations. Using the Hamiltonian formalism, we construct the spin representation of the Painlevé equations.  相似文献

Active scalars appear in many problems of fluid dynamics. The most common examples of active scalar equations are 2D Euler, Burgers, and 2D surface quasi-geostrophic equations. Many questions about regularity and properties of solutions of these equations remain open. We develop the idea of nonlocal maximum principle introduced in Kiselev, Nazarov and Volberg (2007) [19], formulating a more general criterion and providing new applications. The most interesting application is finite time regularization of weak solutions in the supercritical regime.

A different approach to finding solutions of certain diffusive-dispersive nonlinear evolution equations is introduced. The method consists of a straightforward iteration procedure, which is carried to all terms, followed by a summation of the resulting infinite series. Sometimes this is done directly and other times in terms of inverses of operators in an appropriate space. We first illustrate the method with Burgers's and Thomas's equations, and show how it quickly leads to the Cole-Hopf and Thomas transformations which linearize these equations. The method is described in detail with the Korteweg-de Vries equation and then applied to the modified KdV, sine-Gordon, nonlinear (cubic) Schrödinger, complex modified KdV and Boussinesq equations. In all these cases the multisoliton solutions are easily obtained, and new expressions for some of them follow. More generally, the Mar?enko integral equations, together with the inverse problem that originates them, follow naturally from the approach. A method for modifying known solutions (in a way different from the known Backlund transformations) is also developed. Thus, for example, formulas for the interaction of solitons with an arbitrary given solution are obtained. Other equations tractable by this approach are presented. These include the vector-valued cubic Schrödinger equation and a two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Higher-order and matrix-valued equations with nonscalar dispersion functions are also included.  相似文献

We investigate the groups of equivalence transformations for first-order balance equations involving an arbitrary number of dependent and independent variables. We obtain the determining equations and find their explicit solutions. The approach to this problem is based on a geometric method that depends on Cartan's exterior differential forms. The general solutions of the determining equations for equivalence transformations for first-order systems are applied to a class of the Maxwell equations of electrodynamics.  相似文献

This paper deals with a variant Boussinesq equations which describes the propagation of shallow water waves in a lake or near an ocean beach. We derive out two hetero-B\"{a}cklund transformations between the variant Boussinesq equations and two linear parabolic equations by using the extended homogeneous balance method. We also obtain two hetero-B\"{a}cklund transformations between the variant Boussinesq equations and Burgers equations. Furthermore, we obtain two hetero-B\"{a}cklund transformation between the variant Boussinesq equations and heat equations. By using these B\"{a}cklund transformations and so-called "seed solution", we obtain a large number of explicit exact solutions of the variant Boussinesq equations. Especially, The infinite explicit exact singular wave solutions of variant Boussinesq equations are obtained for the first time. It is worth noting that these singular wave solutions of variant Boussinesq equations will blow up on some lines or curves in the $(x,t)$ plane. These facts reflect the complexity of the structure of the solution of variant Boussinesq equations. It also reflects the complexity of shallow water wave propagation from one aspect.  相似文献

From its inception, the theory of invariant imbedding has been concerned with the study of various relations between the inputs and outputs of various physical processes. Where the processes could be modelled by differential or integro-differential equations, these ideas have led to the heuristic development of various functional relationships for the solutions of these equations. In this work, we show that for a general class of two point boundary value problems these relations can be obtained from mathematical arguments rather than physical ones. The principal result is the establishment of the equivalence of solving a family of two point boundary value problems and that of determining the existence of two transformations on the set of solutions of the given differential equations. We refer to these transformations as Riccati transformations. They are shown to be determined by a set of initial value problems which generalize the invariant imbedding equations obtained by previous authors. We work in the coordinate free setting of a Banach space. The usefulness of this approach is shown as we are able to readily extend our results to nonlocal and multipoint boundary conditions. An indication is made of how a similar theory applies to a class of problems for difference equations.  相似文献

A new transformation method is developed using the general sine-Gordon travelling wave reduction equation and a generalized transformation. With the aid of symbolic computation, this method can be used to seek more types of solutions of nonlinear differential equations, which include not only the known solutions derived by some known methods but new solutions. Here we choose the double sine-Gordon equation, the Magma equation and the generalized Pochhammer–Chree (PC) equation to illustrate the method. As a result, many types of new doubly periodic solutions are obtained. Moreover when using the method to these special nonlinear differential equations, some transformations are firstly needed. The method can be also extended to other nonlinear differential equations.  相似文献

A new vector long wave-short wave-type model is proposed by resorting to the zero-curvature equation. Based on the resulting Riccati equations related to the Lax pair and the gauge transformations between the Lax pairs, multifold Darboux transformations are constructed for the vector long wave-short wave-type model. This method is general and is suitable for constructing the Darboux transformations of other soliton equations, especially in the absence of symmetric conditions for Lax pairs. As an illustrative example of the application of the Darboux transformations, exact solutions of the two-component long wave-short wave-type model are obtained, including solitons, breathers, and rogue waves of the first, second, third, and fourth orders. All the solutions derived by the Darboux transformations involve square roots of functions, which is not observed in the investigation of other nonlinear integrable equations. This model describes new nonlinear phenomena.  相似文献

We consider a system of equations defined using the Hamiltonian operator of the Boussinesq hierarchy, as well as two successive modifications thereof. We are able to reduce the order of these three systems and give Bäcklund transformations between the integrated equations. We also give auto-Bäcklund transformations for the two modified systems.Particular cases of two of the three equations considered correspond to generalized fourth Painlevé hierarchies and are new; these are particular cases of the two modified systems. Thus we obtain auto-Bäcklund transformations for these new fourth Painlevé hierarchies, as well as Bäcklund transformations between our hierarchies. Our results on reduction of order are also applicable in this special case, and include as a particular example a reduction of order for the scaling similarity reduction of the Boussinesq equation, a result which, remarkably, seems not to have been given previously.  相似文献

Symmetries of linear iterative equations and new conditions on the infinitesimals are obtained. Regarding the expressions of the solutions in terms of the parameters of the source equation, an ansatz is made on the original parameters. We have also obtained an expression for the source parameters of the transformed equation under equivalence transformations. We conducted this work with a special emphasis on second-, third- and fourth-order equations, although some of our results are valid for equations of a general order.  相似文献

A symmetry classification of integrable vector evolution equations of third order admitting Miura-type transformations is presented. We obtain the Bäcklund autotransformation for the new equation as well as differential substitutions relating the solutions of some integrable isotropic equations.  相似文献

Some classes of nonlinear equations of mathematical physics are described that admit order reduction through the use of a hydrodynamic-type transformation, where the unknown function is taken as a new independent variable and an appropriate partial derivative is taken as the new dependent variable. RF-pairs and associated Bäcklund transformations are constructed for evolution equations of general form. The results obtained are used for order reduction of hydrodynamic equations (Navier-Stokes and boundary layer) and constructing exact solutions to these equations. A generalized Calogero equation and a number of other new linearizable nonlinear differential equations of the second, third and forth orders are considered. Some integro-differential equations are analyzed.  相似文献
