We study elastic pion-deuteron scattering in the Δ(1236) energy region by means of the three-body Faddeev equations. We present a compact angular momentum reduction of the Faddeev integral equation for separable amplitudes, neglecting the nucleon spin, and solve the resulting coupled integral equations. We examine the dependence of the elastic scattering amplitude on the deuteron structure, on the pion-nucleon scattering amplitude, and on the various orders of multiple scattering. The differential cross section is very sensitive to multiple scattering effects at backward angles. We find that a number of conventional approximations do not well reproduce these multiple scattering effects in the resonance region.  相似文献

Invisibility devices exploit ambiguities in the inverse scattering problem of light in media. Scattering also serves as an important general tool to infer information about the structure of matter. We elucidate the nature of scattering ambiguities that arise in central potentials. We show that scattering is a tomographic projection: The integrated scattering angle is a projection of a scattering function onto the impact parameter. This function depends on the potential but may be multivalued, allowing for ambiguities where several potentials share the same scattering data. In addition, multivalued scattering angles also lead to ambiguities. We apply our theory to show that it is, in principle, possible to construct an invisibility device without infinite phase velocity of light.  相似文献

We deal with photon-electron scattering between the two uncharged conducting parallel plates. The electromagnetic vacuum field between the two plates is defined by the configuration of space and also interacts with the electrons. We first deal with the relevant operators for the electron and photon fields and with the Feynman propagator. We compute theS-matrix for photon-electron scattering, taking into account the influence of the vacuum field. The computed photon-electron scattering cross section also manifests the influence of the vacuum field. We give an example for low-energy scattering of the influence of the vacuum field upon the scattering cross section.  相似文献

We calculate height-height correlation functions, near-surface density-density correlation functions and the corresponding frequency integrated spectra for a heat conducting viscous fluid. We calculate scattering cross-sections for the static and dynamic X-ray scattering experiments recently developed to investigate the nanometer-scale structure and fluctuations of liquid interfaces. We show that the density-density correlations make an important contribution to the scattering, even using evanescent waves, and that they are strongly affected by the surface. We also discuss the implications for X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy and X-ray inelastic scattering. Received 12 October 2001 Published online 6 June 2002  相似文献

We study the inelastic scattering of a probe particle on a Bose-Einstein condensate confined in a double-well potential. We study the scattering of massless Dirac fermions by Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstrm black holes. This is done by applying partial wave analysis to the scattering modes obtained after solving the massless Dirac equation in the asymptotic regions of the two black hole geometries. We successfully obtain analytic phase shifts, with the help of which the scattering cross section is computed. The glory and spiral scattering phenomena are shown to be present, as in the case of massive fermion scattering by black holes.  相似文献

We discovered that spin-orbit scattering in strongly disordered gold nanojunctions is strongly suppressed relative to that in weakly disordered gold thin films. This property is unusual because in weakly disordered films spin-orbit scattering increases with disorder. Granularity and freezing of spin-orbit scattering inside the grains explains the suppression of spin-orbit scattering. We propose a generalized Elliot-Yafet relation that applies to a strongly disordered granular regime.  相似文献

We investigate the validity of the radiative transfer equation to model transmission of light through an absorbing and scattering medium. Assuming that radiative transfer equation is valid, the inverse scattering problem for non-polarized radiative transfer in one-dimensional absorbing and scattering media is solved using a parameter identification method. We discuss how to identify the albedo, phase function and extinction coefficient of the medium. We present experimental data that confirm that this approach is robust and can be used to make reliable predictions of the behavior of scattering absorbing systems.  相似文献

The mobility limited by cluster scattering in ternary alloy semiconductor quantum wire(QWR) is theoretically investigated under Born approximation. We calculate the screened mobility due to clusters(high indium composition InGaN) scattering in the InxGa1 xN QWR structure. The characteristics of the cluster scattering mechanism are discussed in terms of the indium composition of clusters, the one-dimensional electron gas(1DEG) concentration, and the radius of QWR. We find that the density, breadth of cluster, and the correlation length have a strong effect on the electron mobility due to cluster scattering. Finally, a comparison of the cluster scattering is made with the alloy-disorder scattering. It is found that the cluster scattering acts as a significant scattering event to impact the resultant electron mobility in ternary alloy QWR.  相似文献

We study the three-body system with short-range interactions characterized by an unnaturally large two-body scattering length. We show that the off-shell scattering amplitude is cutoff independent up to power corrections. This allows us to derive an exact renormalization group equation for the three-body force. We also obtain a renormalized equation for the off-shell scattering amplitude. This equation is invariant under discrete scale transformations. The periodicity of the spectrum of bound states originally observed by Efimov is a consequence of this symmetry. The functional dependence of the three-body scattering length on the two-body scattering length can be obtained analytically using the asymptotic solution to the integral equation. An analogous formula for the three-body recombination coefficient is also obtained.  相似文献

We give an introduction to the application of small angle X-ray and neutron scattering techniques to the study of the structure of polyelectrolyte solutions. The goal is not to be exhaustive and to describe the latest progress in the field of polyelectrolytes but rather to present the potential of the technique. We aim to give an overview on the main features of the scattering curves, and discuss the structural information that can be drawn. We will first give the basics of small angle scattering and highlight the role played by neutron scattering and isotopic labeling. Thus, we will discuss the significance of the monomer and counterion partial scattering functions according to the scattering length densities of both components, and will emphasize the unique possibility to separate out the intra- and intermolecular correlations. Then, some examples will show how the dispersion state and the average conformation of macroions can be addressed. We will however focus on salt-free aqueous solutions of linear flexible hydrophilic polyelectrolytes in the semidilute regime.  相似文献

We report angle-resolved second-harmonic generation (SHG) measurements from suspensions of centrosymmetric micron-size polystyrene spheres with surface-adsorbed dye (malachite green). The second-harmonic scattering profiles differ qualitatively from linear light scattering profiles of the same particles. We investigated these radiation patterns using several polarization configurations and particle diameters. We introduce a simple Rayleigh-Gans-Debye model to account for the SHG scattering anisotropy. The model compares favorably with our experimental data. Our measurements suggest scattering anisotropy may be used to isolate particle nonlinear optics from other bulk nonlinear optical effects in suspension.  相似文献

We report measurements of neutron truncation rod scattering. This surface-induced neutron scattering has been observed at the (111) surface of a perfect Si single crystal by a high-resolution three-crystal scattering experiment. We describe the details of the experiment and discuss the experimental findings within a kinematic approach. Possible applications of this new neutron scattering method lie in the field of surface magnetism and the study of surfaces of light-element systems.  相似文献

本文在SU(2)L×U(1)模型里研究中间态的W介子对光子-光子散射的贡献。由于自发破缺规范理论的可重整化性以及自发破缺以后电磁规范不变性仍成立,在单迴路近似下,光子-光子散射幅中的无穷大必然互相抵消。本文用具体计算说明这一点,并且在低能近似下给出电磁场的等效非线性相互作用拉格朗日量和散射截面。在低能近似下,轻子中间态对散射的贡献为主,然而在高能极限下,W介子中间态的贡献将变得可以和轻子中间态的贡献相比较。  相似文献

We investigate classical scattering of particles by a double-well potential. Irregularity in the scattering functions, such as scattering angle and escape time, appears when the collision energy is lowered below a threshold value. This threshold is closely related to the appearance of periodic orbits with energies above the potential maxima. We study the scattering as a function of the energy and impact parameter. In this initial parameter space the scattering functions consist of regular regions interlaced with chaotic rivers. A symbolic dynamics has been developed to organize these structures and used to reveal their scaling properties.  相似文献

We calculate the scattering lengths for pions on light nuclei, in a multiple scattering theory given earlier. We include all effects through second order in the pion-nucleon scattering amplitudes, using a simple nuclear model. We show how to calculate the binding corrections (BC) consistently, and find large cancellations between differentBC terms. The resulting scattering lengths are smaller than those obtained from measurements of pi-atomic level shifts. The size of the difference is consistent with the contribution of pion absorption, which we estimate.  相似文献

In this article we develop the direct and inverse scattering theory of the Ablowitz-Ladik system with potentials having limits of equal positive modulus at infinity. In particular, we introduce fundamental eigensolutions, Jost solutions, and scattering coefficients, and study their properties.We also discuss the discrete eigenvalues and the corresponding norming constants. We then go on to derive the left Marchenko equations whose solutions solve the inverse scattering problem. We specify the time evolution of the scattering data to solve the initial-value problem of the corresponding integrable discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We investigated electron-spin-polarized (4)He(+) ion scattering on various nonmagnetic surfaces at kinetic energies below 2 keV. It was observed that the scattered He(+) ion yield depends on the He(+) ion spin. We interpret this spin-dependent scattering in terms of the spin-orbit coupling that acts transiently on the He(+)1s electron spin in the He(+)-target binary collision. This interpretation qualitatively explains the relationship between the spin-dependent scattering and the scattering geometry, incident velocity, and magnetic field arrangement. This is the first study to report spin-orbit coupling caused by projectile electron spin in ion scattering.  相似文献
