By using a Borel density theorem for algebraic quotients, we prove a theorem concerning isometric actions of a Lie group G on a smooth or analytic manifold M with a rigid A-structure σ. It generalizes Gromov’s centralizer and representation theorems to the case where R(G) is split solvable and G/R(G) has no compact factors, strengthens a special case of Gromov’s open dense orbit theorem, and implies that for smooth M and simple G, if Gromov’s representation theorem does not hold, then the local Killing fields on [(M)\tilde]{\widetilde{M}} are highly non-extendable. As applications of the generalized centralizer and representation theorems, we prove (1) a structural property of Iso(M) for simply connected compact analytic M with unimodular σ, (2) three results illustrating the phenomenon that if G is split solvable and large then π 1(M) is also large, and (3) two fixed point theorems for split solvable G and compact analytic M with non-unimodular σ.  相似文献

We prove a new relation for the multiple q-zeta values (MqZV’s). It is a q-analogue of the Ohno-Zagier relation for the multiple zeta values (MZV’s). We discuss the problem of determining the dimension of the space spanned by MqZV’s over ℚ, and present an application to MZV. A sup-preserving map f between complete lattices L and M is regular if there exists a sup-preserving map g from M to L such that fgf=f. In the class of completely distributive lattices, this paper demonstrates a necessary and sufficient condition for f to be regular. When L=M is a power set, our theorem reduces to the well known Zareckiĭ’s theorem which characterizes regular elements in the semigroup of all binary relations on a set. Another application of our result is a generalization of Zareckiĭ’s theorem for quantale-valued relations.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a method to construct more general fuzzy sets using ordinary fuzzy sets as building blocks. We introduce the concept of multi-fuzzy sets in terms of ordered sequences of membership functions. The family of operations T, S, M of multi-fuzzy sets are introduced by coordinate wise t-norms, s-norms and aggregation operations. We define the notion of coordinate wise conjugation of multifuzzy sets, a method for obtaining Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy operations from multi-fuzzy sets. We show that various binary operations in Atanassov’s intuitionistic fuzzy sets are equivalent to some operations in multi-fuzzy sets like M operations, 2-conjugates of the T and S operations. It is concluded that multi-fuzzy set theory is an extension of Zadeh’s fuzzy set theory, Atanassov’s intuitionsitic fuzzy set theory and L-fuzzy set theory.  相似文献

In this paper we study minimal surfaces in M × ℝ, where M is a complete surface. Our main result is a Jenkins-Serrin type theorem which establishes necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of certain minimal vertical graphs in M × ℝ. We also prove that there exists a unique solution of the Plateau’s problem in M × ℝ whoseboundaryisaNitschegraphandweconstructaScherk-typesurfaceinthisspace. The main issue of this paper is the discussion of Nielsen’s realisation-problem for aspherical manifolds arising from (generalised) Seifert fiber space constructions. We present sufficient conditions on such “model” aspherical manifoldsM to have that a finite abstract kernel ψ:G → Out (π1 (M)) can be (effectively) geometrically realised by a group of fiber preserving homeomorphisms ofM if and only if ψ can be realised by an (admissible) group extension 1 → (π1 (M)) →E’ →G → 1. Then an algebraic approach to a (partial) study of the symmetry ofM is possible. Our result covers all situations already described in literature and we show with an example that we also deal with other types of Seifert fiber space constructions which were not yet treated before. The relations between core mass and stellar luminosity and radius for AGB and FGB stars are systematically investigated with the latest stellar models. A single unique relation between the core mass and giant’s luminosity is obtained. The core mass-giant’s radius relations are given for both Pop I and Pop II stars. The core mass-giant’s luminosity relation is almost independent of the stellar parameters, such as stellar metallicity, mixing length parameter α, and stellar winds. The core mass-giant’s radius relation is somewhat affected by the parameters. The giant’s radius at anM c (core mass) for Pop II is smaller than that for Pop I (by a factor of ≈ 1.5). A larger mixing length parameter α also tends to reduce the giant’s radius. Project supported by the Climbing Program of the National Science Foundation of China.  相似文献

A multivalued version of Sharkovskiĭ’s theorem is formulated for M-maps on linear continua and, more generally, for triangular M-maps on a Cartesian product of linear continua. This improves the main result of [AP1] in the sense that our multivalued analogue holds with at most two exceptions. A further specification requires some additional restrictions. For instance, 3- orbits of m-maps imply the existence of k-orbits for all k ? \mathbbNk \in {\mathbb{N}} , except possibly for k ?k \in {4, 6}. It is also shown that, on every connected linearly ordered topological space, an M-map with orbits of all periods can always be constructed. This demonstrates that Baldwin’s classification of linear continua in terms of admissible periods [Ba] is useless for multivalued maps.  相似文献

Bent and almost-bent functions on \mathbbZp2{\mathbb{Z}_p^2} are studied in this paper. By calculating certain exponential sum and using a technique due to Hou (Finite Fields Appl 10:566–582, 2004), we obtain a degree bound for quasi-bent functions, and prove that almost-bent functions on \mathbbZp2{\mathbb{Z}_p^2} are equivalent to a degenerate quadratic form. From the viewpoint of relative difference sets, we also characterize bent functions on \mathbbZp2{\mathbb{Z}_p^2} in two classes of M{\mathcal{M}} ’s and PS{\mathcal{PS}} ’s, and show that the graph set corresponding to a bent function on \mathbbZp2{\mathbb{Z}_p^2} can be written as the sum of a graph set of M{\mathcal{M}} ’s type bent function and another group ring element. By using our characterization and some technique of permutation polynomial, we obtain the result: a bent function must be of M{\mathcal{M}} ’s type if its corresponding set contains more than (p − 3)/2 flats. A problem proposed by Ma and Pott (J Algebra 175:505–525, 1995) is therefore partially answered.  相似文献

We study effectively the Cartan geometry of Levi-nondegenerate C 6-smooth hypersurfaces M 3 in ℂ2. Notably, we present the so-called curvature function of a related Tanaka-type normal connection explicitly in terms of a graphing function for M, which is the initial, single available datum. Vanishing of this curvature function then characterizes explicitly the local biholomorphic equivalence of such M 3 ⊂ ℂ2 to the Heisenberg sphere ℍ3, such M’s being necessarily real analytic.  相似文献

Let F be a non-zero polynomial with integer coefficients in N variables of degree M. We prove the existence of an integral point of small height at which F does not vanish. Our basic bound depends on N and M only. We separately investigate the case when F is decomposable into a product of linear forms, and provide a more sophisticated bound. We also relate this problem to a certain extension of Siegel’s Lemma as well as to Faltings’ version of it. Finally we exhibit an application of our results to a discrete version of the Tarski plank problem.  相似文献

In this paper a group theoretic version of Dehn surgery is studied. Starting with an arbitrary relatively hyperbolic group G we define a peripheral filling procedure, which produces quotients of G by imitating the effect of the Dehn filling of a complete finite volume hyperbolic 3-manifold M on the fundamental group π1(M). The main result of the paper is an algebraic counterpart of Thurston’s hyperbolic Dehn surgery theorem. We also show that peripheral subgroups of G ‘almost’ have the Congruence Extension Property and the group G is approximated (in an algebraic sense) by its quotients obtained by peripheral fillings. We consider improvements of Dirichlet’s Theorem on the space of matrices Mm,n(\mathbb R){M_{m,n}(\mathbb R)}. It is shown that for a certain class of fractals K ì [0,1]mn ì Mm,n(\mathbb R){K\subset [0,1]^{mn}\subset M_{m,n}(\mathbb R)} of local maximal dimension Dirichlet’s Theorem cannot be improved almost everywhere. This is shown using entropy and dynamics on homogeneous spaces of Lie groups.  相似文献

Gromov’s celebrated systolic inequality from ’83 is a universal volume lower bound in terms of the least length of a noncontractible loop in M. His proof passes via a strongly isometric imbedding called the Kuratowski imbedding, into the Banach space of bounded functions on M. We show that the imbedding admits an approximation by a (1+e){(1+\epsilon)}-bi-Lipschitz (onto its image), finite-dimensional imbedding for every ${\epsilon > 0}${\epsilon > 0}, using the first variation formula and the mean value theorem.  相似文献

We answer a question of Gromov ([G2]) in the codimension 1 case: ifF is a codimension 1 foliation of a compact manifoldM with leaves of negative curvature, thenπ 1(M) has exponential growth. We also prove a result analogous to Zimmer’s ([Z2]): ifF is a codimension 1 foliation on a compact manifold with leaves of nonpositive curvature, and ifπ 1(M) has subexponential growth, then almost every leaf is flat. It follows from a theorem of Gromov that the stable systolic category catstsys M{\rm cat}_{\rm stsys} M of a closed manifold M is bounded from below by cl\mathbbQ M{\rm cl}_{\mathbb{Q}} M, the rational cup-length of M [Ka07]. We study the inequality in the opposite direction. In particular, combining our results with Gromov’s theorem, we prove the equality catstsys M = cl\mathbbQ M{\rm cat}_{\rm stsys} M = {\rm cl}_{\mathbb{Q}} M for simply connected manifolds of dimension ≤ 7.  相似文献
